<ul><li>Earnings season will begin next week with the results of major IT companies -- TCS on April 11 and Infosys on April 13.</li><li>Digital transformation deals continue to boost IT sector’s growth along with rupee depreciation in the recent months benefiting the sector.</li><li>However, profit margins of these companies are expected to be under pressure because of increase in employee salaries and record hiring.</li></ul>The March quarter earnings season will begin next week with the results of major information technology (IT) companies such as Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on April 11 and Infosys on April 13. Most analysts believe March is a seasonally weak quarter for IT companies and they expect moderate earnings growth amid margin pressures. The profit margins of IT companies are expected to be under pressure because of increase in employee salaries and record hiring. “Sequential growth for Indian IT will be moderate in March 2022 quarter and in line with historical seasonal trends. Margins will remain under pressure resulting from elevated wage increases, onsite as well as offshore,” said Kotak Institutional Equities. The entire IT sector is struggling to retain employees including top five companies. There could be moderate risk to demand as fallout of the Russia-Ukraine imbroglio starts impacting key economies. Nonetheless, we believe double-digit growth is feasible for many,” said a report by Kotak Institutional Equities. Higher employee cost and shortage of skilled talent will remain the key challenges in the short term for IT companies. Profit margins of IT companies must be under pressure for January-March quarter due to record hiring and salary hikes

Mumbai, <keyword id="30335" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Shares">Shares</keyword> of <keyword id="6370462" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="tata-communications">Tata Communications</keyword> plunged over 6% on Wednesday after the government announced to sale its entire 26.12% stake in the company. At 12.10 p.m., its shares were trading at ₹1,060.65, lower by ₹69.30 or 6.13% from its previous close. In a notice Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) said that the <keyword id="6356303" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Centre">Centre</keyword> intends to disinvest its entire shareholding of 26.12% of paid up equity capital in Tata Communications, erstwhile Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd (VSNL), through OFS by promoters through the stock exchanges and thereafter to the strategic partner as per <keyword id="35210" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="sebi">SEBI</keyword>'s norms. DIPAM has invited proposals from eligible merchant bankers to assist and advise the government in the process. VSNL, a central public sector enterprise was privatised in 2002 by disinvesting 25% shareholding along with transfer of management control to Panatone <keyword id="3777368" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="finvest">Finvest</keyword> Limited, the strategic partner (SP). Subsequent to the strategic disinvestment, the name of the Company was changed to Tata Communications Limited (TCL). <keyword id="46894" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Sons">Tata Sons</keyword> holds 14.07% stake in the company. On Tuesday, Tata Communications reported a four-fold growth on a year-on-year basis in its consolidated net profit for the quarter-ended December at ₹309.4 crore. While it is important to try and predict trends so one can be prepared for what’s to come, if 2020 has taught us anything, it’s this: No matter how well you plan for the future, sometimes, the future has something else planned for you! All you can do, is roll with the punches. And that is exactly what 2020 felt like. As a company, as an industry we have had to deal with one unplanned event after another. We have had to recalibrate every move, every plan and in some cases, evolve faster than we ever imagined we could. So, before we jump into predicting the future, I believe it would do us well to sit back and take a look at the year gone by and how we as the Media &amp; Entertainment industry have managed to keep our balance. The Media &amp; Entertainment industry has been in a state of evolution for the last few years. As someone who has been in the industry for over 30 years, the one thing I have noticed time and again, is that every time a new platform, a new medium emerges, media pundits pronounce the death of the previous one. The reality, however, is very different. The fact is that all mediums have stayed strong and are growing, whether it’s print, radio, television and now <keyword id="50691" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Digital">digital</keyword>. What we have learnt, and especially over the last one year, is that the <keyword id="94534" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="indian-media">Indian Media</keyword> &amp; Entertainment industry does not need to be an either/ or industry. We can be an AND industry where every medium can have a piece of the pie. We’re living in a world where the rules of the game are changing continuously. There are countries where television has ceased to exist, but India is different. We’ve bucked the trend here. In India, TV has shown a huge amount of growth, even during the pandemic. And interestingly, at the same time, the OTT sector has also grown by leaps and bounds! It’s time we understand that in a country like India where the appetite for content is massive, both linear and digital need to co-exist. Our launch of discovery+ right in the beginning of the lockdown is a true testament of the fact that if there is good content, the audience will come for it. So, the question for broadcasters like us who also have a digital play really is how does one perform this balancing act? We have to protect our business which funds the digital business as the digital business is yet to become profitable. TV has to play a key role in that. For us, both are as important: one is the business of today and one is the business of tomorrow that how you balance the today and tomorrow is a question we ask every day. The core of any platform is content: that, in my view, is the starting point. How you optimize and monetize the content is the integral part of anybody’s decision-making process. The way we look at it is that there’s a short-term and a long term view every organization has. So do we, here at Discovery. The ownership of content and the ownership of customer are the two key pillars of a long-term strategy and in that analysis and data will play an integral role in arriving at a monetisation proposition which makes a digital business a viable, sustainable business. But what should the business leader do until then? The show must go on and for that we need to keep this intricate balance between linear and digital to ensure we make the best of both worlds!

The bank’s net interest income (NII) grew by 16.7% to ₹15,774.4 crore in the quarter and other income, comprising fee and commission, grew 27.9% to reach ₹6,092 crore. The shares of HDFC Bank ended 2.92% higher on Friday. Avenue Supermarts Radhakishan Damani’s Avenue Supermarts retail chain D-Mart reported a 38.5% (Y-o-Y) decline in its consolidated profit for the second quarter. However, the profit grew by five-fold compared to the sequentially quarter amid easing of lockdown restrictions. The revenue during the quarter also fell 11.4% to ₹5,306.2 crore. The shares of Avenue Supermarts ended over 0.52% higher on Friday. Tata Communications Tata Communications posted an around seven-fold jump in its consolidated net profit to ₹384.81 crore for the second quarter ended September 30. The company’s consolidated revenue grew 4.5% to ₹4,477.18 crore during the quarter, the company said in a BSE filing. The shares of Tata Communications ended 5% higher on Friday. Jet Airways Cash-strapped Jet Airways on Saturday approved the resolution plan submitted by London-based Kalrock Capital and UAE-based businessmen Murari Lal Jalan to acquire the airline. The shares of Jet Airways ended 5% higher on Friday. RIL, Airtel and Vodafone-Idea In July, Mukesh Ambani led Reliance Jio added over 2.5 million active subscribers, while its rivals Airtel lost 0.4 million and Vodafone-Idea lost over 3.8 million active users, based on TRAI report. The shares of RIL ended 1.2% lower on Friday, whereas Airtel and Vodafone-Idea closed nearly a percent higher. Britannia Industries, HDFC Life Insurance Company, L&amp;T Technology Services and ACC Britannia Industries, HDFC Life Insurance Company, L&amp;T Technology Services, ACC and few other companies are slated to report their quarterly earnings today. New Delhi, Jan 22 () Tata Communications on Wednesday posted around 66 per cent dip in consolidated profit to Rs 58.85 crore in the third quarter ended December 31, 2019. 
The company had posted a net profit of Rs 173.82 crore in the same period a year ago. 
The total income of Tata Communications declined to Rs 4,242.69 crore during the reported quarter from Rs 4,288.65 crore in the year-ago period.
 Revenue from voice solutions dropped by 14.2 per cent to Rs 808.88 crore from Rs 943.56 crore on year on year basis. The data and managed services business provided the company a marginal support by registering a growth of around 3 per cent at Rs 3,299.08 crore in October-December 2019 period compared to Rs 3,203.34 crore. 
"Our Data business continues to drive growth and profitability and we are witnessing strong growth in our Enterprise segment - both in India and internationally," Tata Communications MD and CEO A S Lakshminarayanan said in a statement. 
The company said that it has received demand of Rs 6,633.43 crore from the Department of Telecom towards licence fee on its adjusted gross revenue for the financial year 2006-07 till 2017-18 but has not made any provision for the same as its has filed appeal related to the licences before Supreme Court and Madras High Court which are still pending. 
Tata Communications said that the order of Supreme Court dated October 24, 2019 on AGR did not include appeal of the company. The company has also replied to the DoT demand cum show cause notice but has not received any reply from the department after the submission. PRS

Tata Comm Q3 profit down by 66% to Rs 58.8 crore

New Delhi, Jan 13 () Tata Elxsi on Monday said its net profit has increased 14.2 per cent to Rs 75.42 crore for the December 2019 quarter.
 The company had registered a net profit of Rs 65.99 crore in the year-ago period, Tata Elxsi said in a regulatory filing.
 Its revenue from operations rose over 4 per cent to Rs 423.43 crore for the said quarter from Rs 407 crore for the corresponding period a year ago, it added.
 Software development and services contributed Rs 409.8 crore, while system integration and support services accounted for Rs 13.63 crore of the said quarter's revenue.
 In a statement, the company said it had reported all-round quarter-on-quarter (q-o-q) growth across key verticals, business divisions and geographies in the reported quarter.
 The transportation vertical grew 10.4 per cent q-o-q, while healthcare grew faster at 40.6 per cent.
 Media and Communications delivered steady growth at 5.3 per cent q-o-q. The design business also showed strong growth at 9.9 per cent q-o-q.
 "This is a great quarter for the company with the highest ever top-line in its history with double-digit growth in transportation and Healthcare verticals," Tata Elxsi CEO and Managing Director Manoj Raghavan said.
 This performance was led by strong execution and ramp-ups in large deals won in the previous quarters along with the addition of leading customers and wins in the electric vehicles, medical devices and the OTT segments, he added. SR SHW
