Briefing media after the announcement of bi-monthly monetary policy review, Das said, "regulatory requirements in top-up housing loans are not being followed by certain entities and it is not a system-level problem." Such cases are being dealt at the supervisory level bilaterally, he said. Banks and <keyword id="19938300" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="NBFCs" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="NBFCs" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="NBFCs">NBFCs</keyword> have also been offering top-ups on other collateralised loans like gold loans. "Such practices may lead to loaned funds being deployed in unproductive segments or for speculative purposes. Banks and NBFCs would, therefore, be well-advised to review such practices and take remedial action," he said. Therefore, he said, banks should adhere to regulatory prescriptions relating to loan-to-value (LTV) ratio, risk weights and monitoring of end use of funds with regard to top-ups. Das further said that the divergence between loan and deposit growth may create asset liability mismatch or <keyword id="22712997" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="liquidity-management-issue" source="keywords">liquidity management issue</keyword>. It may potentially expose the banking system to structural liquidity issues, he said. He urged banks to mobilise deposits through innovative products and services by leveraging their vast branch network. On inflation, Das said, it is moderating but the pace of disinflation is uneven and slow. Pinning hopes on monsoon, which is 7 per cent higher than long-term average so far, the Governor said, it will have a good impact on Kharif output as well as Rabi because of improvement in moisture content in the soil. Surge in top-up housing loans not system-wide issue, says RBI Governor

New Delhi, Reliance Capital's (RCAP) expression of interest (EOI) for asset monetisation garnered mega response with 60 bids being received. <keyword id="13222" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="SBI">SBI</keyword> Life and Apollo are among the 10 new bidders who have submitted expressions of interest for Reliance Capital's assets, taking the total number of bids to 60. December 1 was earlier the deadline for the submission of EOIs. Over 60 different bids have been received with SBI Capital Markets Limited and JM Financial Services Limited, the advisors to the lenders. Later the date for submitting the bids was extended to December 17. Over eight bidders have bid for entire RCAP assets on an as-is-where-is basis. The prominent among them are Oaktree, J.C. Flower and multiple ARCs. For Reliance General Insurance, which is owned 100% by RCAP, there are 18 bidders and prominent among them are, Chryscap, J.C. Flower, Blackstone, KKR, CVC Capital Partners, and Bain Capital. For Reliance Nippon Life Insurance, in which RCAP owns 51% controlling stake, has received 16 bids, including Bain Capital, NIIF, Arpwood Partners, Dabur Investments, Bandhan Bank, and <keyword id="884924" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Multiples-Asset-Management">Multiples Asset Management</keyword> among others. For Reliance Securities, there are eight bidders, including Bain Capital, Religare Broking, Edelweiss Securities and other ARCs. For Reliance ARC, there are six bidders, including Bain Capital, International Asset Reconstruction Company and other ARCs. For Reliance Health, there are eight bidders - Blackstone, Bain Capital, Arpwood Partners, and other ARCs. There are also multiple bidders for RCAP's stake in ICEX and Paytm E-commerce business. Reliance Capital asset monetization process, to unlock value of its underlying businesses and to make RCAP debt free, was launched on October 31, 2020. The monetization process being run under the aegis of Committee of Debenture Holders and <keyword id="10477607" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="the-debenture-trustee-vistra-itcl-india-ltd">the Debenture Trustee Vistra ITCL India Ltd</keyword> - which represents 93% of total outstanding debt of Reliance Capital. EOIs were invited for all or part of RCL's stake in the following key subsidiaries and assets individually or in any combination thereof. This includes 100% stake in Reliance General Insurance Company Limited (RGI). It has a paid up capital of Reliance General Insurance is ₹252 crore as of September 30, 2020. It is the 4th largest <keyword id="10477608" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="private-general-insurance-company">Private General Insurance Company</keyword> with market share of 4.5% as of March 2020 in the General Insurance category. It has shown consistent growth in AUM Year-on-Year with investment book of ₹12,315 crore as on September 30, 2020. The company performed its best even during COVID times with Gross Direct Premium Income of ₹4,501 crore during the first six months of FY20- 21. It has a strong distribution network of 134 branches with amongst largest agency force of 46,742 as of September 30, 2020 across the country. Bids have been invited for 51% stake in <keyword id="10203731" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="reliance-nippon-life-insurance-company-limited">Reliance Nippon Life Insurance Company Limited</keyword> (RNLI). The paid up capital of Reliance Nippon Life Insurance is ₹1196 Cr. as of September 30, 2020. RNLI is a joint Venture with Japan's largest life insurer - Nippon Life which holds 49 % shareholding. It is the 10th largest <keyword id="10203730" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="private-sector-insurer">Private Sector Insurer</keyword> (in terms of Individual WRP) and amongst largest Non-Banca company with a network of 717 offices. It witnessed sharp turnaround in performance during FY19-20 with a profit after tax of ₹35 crore and 75% growth (12% CAGR) in embedded value over last four years. It has an impressive claim settlement ratio of 98.1% in FY19-20 and a higher Solvency ratio of 207% (as against regulatory requirement of 150%). As on September 30, 2020, the AUM was ₹21,912 crore and an individual premium market share of 2.20% amongst private insurers. Bids have been invited for 100% stake in Reliance Securities Limited - Broking &amp; distribution company offering services across asset classes including equities, commodities, derivatives, currency, mutual funds, bonds and corporate FDs. Also on offer is a 100% stake in Reliance Financial Limited - RBI registered NBFC, engaged in the business of financing, money lending, capital market linked financing activities, 49% stake in Reliance Asset Reconstruction Limited which manages portfolio of ₹1,996 crore as on September 30, 2020. A 20% stake in Indian Commodity Exchange is also being bid. Other key shareholders in ICEX are Central Warehousing Corporation, MMTC Limited, Indiabulls Housing Finance Limited, Indian Potash Limited and Bajaj Holdings and Investments. ICEX is a SEBI regulated commodity derivatives exchange. There is also 100% stake in Reliance Health Insurance Limited. Other PE investments like Naffa Innovations Private Limited, Paytm E-Commerce Private Limited. RCL's key businesses and subsidiaries are performing well and business will continue as usual. The management, professional team, customer and partners will be unaffected by the proposed asset monetisation programme of RCAP. Reliance Capital asset sale: SBI Life and Apollo join the race, nearly 70 bids received so far

Biocon was a hot stock before the latest earnings— from Tata Asset Management to Baroda AMC, at least five mutual fund houses added it to their portfolio

The funeral of industrialist Cyrus Pallonji <keyword id="6391150" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="mistry" source="Orion">Mistry</keyword>, a scion of the <keyword id="261354" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="shapoorji-pallonji-group" source="Orion">Shapoorji Pallonji Group</keyword>, shall be held here on Tuesday morning, his family said in a moving tribute, though they omitted any reference to the tycoon's brief tenure in <keyword id="6355725" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="tata-group" source="Orion">Tata Group</keyword>. "It is with utmost sadness that we announce the sudden and untimely demise of our beloved Cyrus Pallonji Mistry, 54. He succumbed to injuries from an unfortunate car accident on Sunday," said the family. He is survived by his wife Rohiqa, sons Firoz and Zahan, mother Patsy Mistry, sisters Laila Rustom Jehangir and Aloo Noel Tata and brother <keyword id="844645" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="shapoor-mistry" source="Orion">Shapoor Mistry</keyword>. Born on July 4, 1968, Mistry earned a civil engineering degree from London's Imperial College of Science and Technology and a postgraduate degree of Master of Science in Management from London Business School. CPM, as he was fondly known, was a voracious reader and joined the family business in March 1991 as a Director, overseeing the group's construction business. Mistry's entrepreneurial <keyword id="34279" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="mindset" source="Orion">mindset</keyword> helped the Shapoorji Pallonji Group achieve many milestones over the past two decades, including one of India's first integrated, project-financed power plants, and the development of India's first biotechnology park. With his vision and eye for detail, he was instrumental in steering the Group from a pure contractor to a 'value-added' player, by developing competencies in allied areas such as EPC and 'Design &amp; Build'. He also envisioned, and oversaw, the evolution of the Group into an end-to-end business group, spanning design and engineering, construction, and asset development, and committed to a journey of lifelong learning across multiple disciplines. Despite his success, Mistry always kept a low profile, away from the limelight, deeply valued righteousness and honesty, and was known for his transparency and integrity in all his business dealings, it said. "He was extremely humble, approachable to all, and always lent a helping hand to the less fortunate. Deeply loved by his family, he was a friend to countless many. We pray that his soul rests in eternal peace," the family said. Mistry's last rites shall be performed at the Worli Crematorium at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. "A friend to many, loved by all. A life well lived," the bereaved family added, requesting "No condolence visits please". The young tycoon Mistry's abrupt departure stunned the country and left the Indian corporate world shocked. Mistry's funeral on Tuesday, family's moving tribute omits Tata stint

 Retaining flagship properties The Managing Director and CEO of Indian Hotels, Puneet Chhatwal, told <a href="https://news.google.com/articles/CAIiEHD6x-q4b9jaA9jUjpJESRQqGQgEKhAIACoHCAow2pqGCzD954MDMM_yigY?hl=en-IN&amp;gl=IN&amp;ceid=IN%3Aen">Bloomberg</a><a href="https://theprint.in/economy/tatas-taj-hotel-chain-to-sell-assets-to-trim-debt-as-consumer-spending-slackens/274158/amp/?__twitter_impression=true"> </a>that while the company is looking to reduce its debt by getting rid of some of the <keyword id="507551" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="budget-hotels">budget hotels</keyword> in its portfolio — the legacy and flagship properties, namely hotels within the Taj brand, aren’t up for grabs. However, as many as six of the Ginger hotels are already a part of the sale and lease-back plans. What this mean is that Indian Hotels will be selling the properties and then taking them up on rent so that the current management stays in place. This is also true with other hotels that are a part of joint ventures or under associate companies, according to Chhatwal. On the other hand, Indian Hotels also opened up three new hotels in key strategic markets like Goa and Agra as per last quarter’s <a href="https://www.ihcltata.com/investors/">earnings report</a>. It has also launched a new hotel brand called ‘SeleQtions’ to up its brand image. SeleQtions includes named and distinctive hotels as well as Chambers — India’s most iconic business club. Cutting down on debt India’s economy is <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/indias-growth-will-come-from-cities-as-urban-indians-will-contribute-75-of-it/articleshow/70563586.cms">cooling down</a> and consumer spending is set to fall further, which is why Indian Hotels is looking to lighten its assets. Even, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/the-tata-group-has-two-airlines-and-two-more-to-choose-fromair-india-and-jet-airways/articleshow/70129384.cms">Jet Airways</a> going out of business hit the Tata-owned enterprise, forcing the company to write off some of its dues. Indian Hotels has been on the path to reduce its debt for a while. It has gone from ₹31 billion in 2017 to ₹20 billion as of March 2019. Tata Group’s Indian Hotels isn’t the only brand under the umbrella that’s being revamped. Taj Hotels wants to turn asset light with its sell-and-lease-back strategy

Markets during the last week saw wild gyrations with the first three days seeing a sharp dip followed by a more than equally sharper rise and then yet another dip, to be back on neutral ground. Friday was a nothing day and markets ended marginally up. The week ended with a small negative bias and in what could be termed a highly volatile week. BSESENSEX lost 30.54 points or 0.05 per cent to close at 58,803.33 points while <keyword id="6354813" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="nifty" source="Orion">NIFTY</keyword> lost 19.45 points or 0.11 per cent to close at 17,539.45 points. The broader markets saw BSE100, BSE200 and BSE500 gain 0.20 per cent, 0.29 per cent and 0.38 per cent respectively. BSEMIDCAP gained 1.37 per cent while BSESMALLCAP was up 1.35 per cent. The <keyword id="91748" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="indian-rupee" source="Orion">Indian Rupee</keyword> gained 6 paisa or 0.08 per cent to close at Rs 79.80 to the US Dollar. Dow Jones continued to remain under pressure and lost on four of the five trading sessions. It lost 964.96 points or 2.99 per cent to close at 31,318.44 points. It is now down 13.81 per cent on a year-to-date basis. On a similar comparison, the Indian benchmark indices are up about one percent. India is now the world's fifth largest economy. It squeezed out the United Kingdom. GST collections for the month of August were at 1,43,612 crore. This is the sixth consecutive month that the collection is at Rs 1.40 lakh crore or higher. The primary market sees the issue from <keyword id="7111922" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="tamilnad-mercantile-bank-limited" source="Orion">Tamilnad Mercantile Bank Limited</keyword> tapping the markets with its fresh issue of 1,58,40,000 equity shares in a price band of Rs 500-525. The issue would raise Rs 792- 831.6 crore at the price band. The issue opens on Monday the 5th of September and closes on Wednesday the 7th of September. On Friday, the company completed allocation to anchor investors of 71,28,000 shares at Rs 510. In the last couple of years, one doesn't recall that the anchor book or allocation has been made at a price lower than the top end. Coming to the bank's performance, it is a 100-year-old private bank dominant in the state of <keyword id="20154" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="tamil-nadu" source="Orion">Tamil Nadu</keyword>. In terms of business as much as 75 per cent comes from the state of Tamil Nadu. The next chunk of business comes from the states of Maharashtra, <keyword id="37102" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="andhra-pradesh" source="Orion">Andhra Pradesh</keyword>, Karnataka and Gujarat which contribute about 16 per cent. The bank has grown very significantly during the Covid-19 pandemic. Its EPS has doubled from 2019-20 to 2021-22 from Rs 28.61 to Rs 42.34 and finally to Rs 57.67. It has a decent asset quality as well. Its gross NPAs were at 1.69 per cent while net NPAs were at 0.95 per cent for the year ended March 2022. The shares which are being offered at a price band of Rs 500-525 have a PE multiple of 8.67-9.10 times its FY 22 earnings. In terms of book value, the same is at Rs 374.41, which makes the issue at 1.4 times price to book. Looking at the allotment of anchors, it becomes clear that effectively the new price band is now Rs 500-510 and shares would be allotted at Rs 510. Readers may apply for the shares of the bank considering its fundamentals and pedigree, considering it's a 100-year-old bank. There may be limited upside on listing and investors should apply only for the medium term. Considering its peer group, the bank is adequately priced. There is a change introduced in the bidding process for IPOs with effect from 1st September. Bids made would have to be blocked by the end of the day before the final subscription figures are announced. This is in relation to the hue and cry that was raised where one saw thousands of applications not being banked post being bid. It was also noticed that issues which were subscribed at the end of the bidding time were actually undersubscribed post the final figures. This would put an end to bidding by investors who wanted to eat the cake and have it. Coming to the markets in the week ahead, we would see volatility continuing. While FPIs were buyers largely on most days in August, this is not the case in September and they were sellers as well. Things are not the best in US markets and the 75 basis points hike in the meeting to be held on September 20-21 is a foregone conclusion. What and how the markets react would be based on the commentary post the meeting outcome. Our markets would find strong resistance at the 17,750-800 levels and 59,450-59,550 levels. In case they do manage to break these levels for any reason, the previous tops made at 18,000 and 60,400 would be final resistances in the period coming up. Strong support exists at 17,350 and 58,200. If these break then the next level would be 17,000-17,050 and 57,250-57,350. The strategy for the week would be to continue selling on rallies and buying on sharp dips. Markets are in a trading zone and they need to make up their mind where they are headed in the medium term.
