The Indian government will come out with a "<keyword id="1708150" type="General" weightage="60" keywordseo="payment-security-mechanism" source="Orion">payment security mechanism</keyword>" to support large-scale rollout of electric buses as it eyes a major transition towards green public transport across the country, <keyword id="184951" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="tarun-kapoor" source="Orion">Tarun Kapoor</keyword>, advisor to the Prime Minister at the <keyword id="6365387" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="pmo" source="Orion">PMO</keyword>, said on Thursday. He also emphasised on the need to bring down the cost of electric vehicles to accelerate their adoption. While the government will continue to provide subsidies like those being offered under the <keyword id="7723547" type="General" weightage="70" keywordseo="fame-ii-scheme" source="Orion">FAME-II scheme</keyword> because the price difference is huge and it has to be bridged, "we have to look at ways and means to bring down the price also, because government subsidy cannot be forever", he said, while addressing an <keyword id="1668995" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="assocham-conference" source="Orion">Assocham conference</keyword> on electric mobility here. Kapoor highlighted the need to be "a little more serious" in battery manufacturing "because we can't depend on imports". He said while China has taken the lead on lithium-ion batteries, India can catch up very fast and the government is looking at the entire ecosystem. He cited the example of the Mines and Minerals (Regulation and Amendment) Bill passed by Parliament in the ongoing session, which seeks to allow larger participation of the private sector in mineral exploration and production, including that of lithium. Kapoor said a "payment security mechanism" is being established after feedback was received about the difficulties in obtaining lending by financial companies. "Something major and very good is already planned and it will come out. So we should be able to roll out a large number of electric buses all over the country," he said.

This one is a movie with a message and deals with the trauma of three rape victims, seeking justice in a male-dominated society. But don’t try to compare it with the regional but hugely acclaimed Adalat o Ekti Meye, directed by Tapan Sinha. The emotional pain and conflict are <keyword id="6357415" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="80" keywordseo="missing">missing</keyword> here even though the movie is dealing with a sensitive issue like rape. Instead, we land up in a stereotype <keyword id="1321184" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="revenge-drama">revenge drama</keyword> that works out all too smoothly. The <keyword id="2034852" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Box-office-numbers">box office numbers</keyword> are yet to arrive and we will keep you updated. 
 
Coming back to the storyline of Bewakoofiyaan, it is not difficult to see how ‘grave’ issues like joblessness and the consequent loss of social status have been watered down till everything falls into place as per Bollywood tradition. Here, we have <keyword id="793543" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="mohit-chaddha">Mohit Chaddha</keyword> (Ayushmann Khurrana), an <keyword id="2144224" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="ambitious-airline-executive">ambitious airline executive</keyword> who has landed the infamous pink slip; his girlfriend <keyword id="2144220" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Mayera-Sehgal">Mayera Sehgal</keyword> (Sonam Kapoor) – an upper class, brand-worshipping Delhiite, and her highly placed, ‘practical’ father VK Sehgal (Rishi Kapoor). While Ayushmann’s fall from grace, his anger and frustration at losing the top-end lifestyle look convincing enough, Sonam never walks the talk she hands out to cheer up a depressed Ayushmann. For her, there’s no maturing of role and she looks eminently confused – trying to cope with a dictatorial papa and a boyfriend in distress. As for Rishi Kapoor, there is no saving grace either. Once again, he is the quintessential Bollywood father, ruling his daughter’s life. 
 Overall, not an inspiring movie and fails to go beyond the obvious. <keyword id="210839" type="POSITION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Critic">Critic</keyword> Sanjukta Sharma sums it up well when she says the film is flat, monotonous and defying all manner of reason, and it is no better than ‘a soap opera.’

As per a source, Akshay is expected to start shooting for the fifth installement from January 15, 2024 in London. Starring <keyword id="2823" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Akshay-Kumar" source="Orion">Akshay Kumar</keyword> and Riteish Deshmukh along with other actors, the film is all set to be released during Diwali in 2024. In June this year, Akshay announced the fifth instalment of his hit comedy franchise 'Housefull'. Taking to Instagram, Akshay shared a poster of '<keyword id="8370870" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Housefull-5" source="Orion">Housefull 5</keyword>' captioning it, "Get ready for FIVE times the madness!. 'Housefull 5' marks the first-ever franchise film in Indian Cinema to have five installments.The first part of 'Housefull' was released in the year 2010 and starred Akshay, Riteish, Lara Dutta, Deepika Padukone, Arjun Rampal and Boman Irani. The film was declared a hit, followed by another hit sequel 'Housefull 2' which was released in the 2012 and included a stellar cast of Akshay, Ritiesh, John Abraham, Shreyas Talpade, Jacqueline Fernandez, Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Mithun Chakraborty and Asin. Both parts were helmed by director Sajid Khan. Sajid was replaced in the third instalment of the film by director duo Sajid Samji and Farhad Samji. The film was released in 2016. Director Farhad Samji helmed the fourth part of the franchise which was a reincarnation comedy film. The fifth part will be helmed by Tarun Mansukhani. Sajid Nadiadwala is producing it. (ANI)

Akshay Kumar to start shooting for 'Housefull 5' in January 2024

Auto companies may soon be asked to manufacture passenger and commercial vehicles that run on multiple fuel configuration aimed at reducing the use of polluting fossil fuels and cutting down harmful emissions. New guidelines for use of flexible fuel vehicles (FFVs) using flex engines is expected to be issued by the third quarter of current year (<keyword id="5027223" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="FY22">FY22</keyword>) that would specify engine configuration and other changes required in vehicles to conform to stipulated changes in fuel mix. The government is also working on an incentive scheme to promote manufacture and use of flex engines in vehicles. The details would be specified when policy in this regard is unveiled. The use of flexible fuel vehicles (FFVs) is being actively looked at by the government to ensure increased use of bio-fuels for running vehicles, <keyword id="84980" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="petroleum">Petroleum</keyword> Secretary Tarun Kapoor had told <keyword id="105681" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="IANS">IANS</keyword> earlier. An FFV is a modified version of vehicles that could run both on gasoline and doped petrol with different levels of ethanol blends. These are currently being used successfully in Brazil, giving people the option to switch fuel (gasoline and ethanol) depending on price and convenience. In fact, a majority of vehicles sold in Brazil are FFVs. For <keyword id="3658" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="India">India</keyword>, FFVs will present a different advantage as they will allow vehicles to use different blends of ethanol mixed petrol available in different parts of the country. The current regulations allow for mixing up to 10 per cent ethanol in petrol. However, due to short supplies and transportation challenges, 10 per cent blended petrol is available only in 15 states while bio-fuel in other states varies between 0 to 5 per cent. FFVs will allow vehicles to use all the blends and also run on unblended fuel. Introduction of FFVs will require adoption of vehicle standards, technologies and retrofitting configurations that will have to be looked at by the Ministry of Heavy Industries. The country is moving quickly in the direction of E-20 or 20 per cent ethanol blended petrol fuel that could be introduced as early as 2023 with a nationwide roll out by 2025. The urgency for policy of vehicle is keeping these goals in mind. For auto companies, introduction of FFVs will pose another challenge that they are already facing with the fast adoption of electric vehicles. If standards on FFVs are made mandatory, it would require additional investment in production lines and technology transfers to change the character of the vehicles. Already the use of 10 per cent ethanol blended petrol and introduction of BS VI fuel have added to the cost of making a vehicle. Taking blending to 20 per cent require few minor changes in vehicle configuration, but adoption of FFVs will future proof the design to adopt to any more changes in blending options and configuration. Government may issue guidelines for 'flexible fuel' vehicles by October

India’s homegrown platform Zee5 however is playing the numbers game. “Zee5 has already invested in over 100 originals till date. But we believe that there’s a lot of room for regional content in this country. There are many stories to be told. Zee5 will do about 70-80 originals this coming year,” Zee5 CEO Tarun Katial told Business Insider India in an interview. Katial says that Zee5 wants to be a ‘super app’ for entertainment. At present, Zee5 has over 1,153 shows with 70 originals and 3,147 movies on its platforms. It also live streams all its 45 channels just like Hotstar. Zee5 expects this strategy to bring in more subscribers. It expects to have 15 million daily active users and 100 million monthly users by March. It had around 8 million daily active users in December, and has been operational for two years. OTT platform is not overcrowded, says Katiyal In spite of the presence of many more platforms like SunNxt, Voot, SonyLiv and many more, Katiyal believes that the Indian OTT market isn’t overcrowded. “While there are a lot of OTT platforms in India, it finally comes down to those OTT players who have enough content to play this out,” he said. A large base of content can be provided by platforms that have been in the television business. “Broadcasters eventually have a meaningful edge in this business because of their ability to reuse their content and their legacy of having built years and years of content is far better than anybody else,” he said. Going Global With strong roots in regional content, Zee5 is all set to take its battle with Netflix, Prime Videos in the international markets as well. In fact, they are using the same success mantra — local content to local audiences. Zee5 plans to release 80 original shows this year across Indian languages

New Delhi, May 25 () Pummeled by evaporating demand and fall in business due to the lockdown, city gas operators such as Adani Gas, GAIL and Torrent Gas have sought tax relief and loan restructuring to tide over difficult times. Natrual Gas Society (NGS), which represents CNG and piped natural gas retailers in the country, has written to the Oil Secretary Tarun Kapoor seeking government support in expansion of the city gas distribution (CGD) business and the share of natural gas in the country's energy basket. "The CGD sector has been among the worst hit during the current lockdown with consumption reduced by over 80 per cent and now, the further extension of the lockdown, this will only bring additional hardship to the industry," it wrote. Barring supply of piped natural gas to households kitchens, all segments under the CGD have shown a sharp fall in gas offtake. "With falling demand, majority of the CGD entities are facing steep fall in revenue and margins and cash flow problems which could impact the ability to maintain the required investment/capex," it said. Slowdown in the overall economic activity, it said, can be a dampener for infrastructure capex plans especially under the newly awarded city gas licenses. The association sought exemption of the CGD sector from excise duty (14 per cent) and a deferment of statutory tax compliances at least till September-December, 2020. "Banks may be asked to restructure the loans and provide a moratorium on interest payments for at least another six months to help the sector to recover quickly," it wrote. NGS wanted government-priced controlled gas to be allocated to CGD operators. "Government should direct gas suppliers and transporters to bill CGD entities only for the quantities they consumed at normal prices / rates without any additional charges like excess gas, take-or-pay, imbalance etc," it said. The association sought waiver of penalty for not making committed investment in a city gas area. "It is proposed that a deferment of at least 24 months in minimum work programme (MWP) be allowed post lockdown period and till the restoration of normalcy period in the industrial activities." To help generate finances for investment and ease the financial stress being faced by the CGD entities, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas may consider financial assistance to the sector, it said, adding this could be through creation of a special fund. Kolkata, May 4 () A group of 75 eminentpersonalities from West Bengal has slammed TMC MP Mahua Moitra for criticising NRI doctors, who had recently written to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee voicing concern over the COVID-19 situation in the state.In a statement issued here on Sunday, the eminent personalities, including filmmakers, actors, music composers and professors, said they are "embarrassed of such a reaction from an MP in the wake of the pandemic".The signatories include filmmakers Buddhadeb Dasgupta, Tarun Majumder, Kamaleswar Mukhopadhyay and Suman Mukhopadhyay, artist Wasim Kapoor, actor Sabyasachi Chakraborty, music composer Debajyoti Misra, professor Ambikesh Mahapatra and educationist Pabitra Sarkar.In a letter to Banerjee in late April, 14 NRI doctors had cautioned the state government against "under-reporting of COVID-19 cases and deaths", saying, "it will have a direct impact on the spread of the virus and lead to a massive crisis in the state".In response to the letter, Moitra had tweeted: "11of 14 NRI docs writing to WB CM in US, 2 in UK &amp; 1 in Ger.W/due respect you choose to live practise pay taxes elsewhere Suggest you get down to work in yr adopted countries!"Criticising Moitra, the personalities said, "The petty insinuations made were uncalled for diverting attention from the real issues and unnecessarily politicising the pandemic. COVID-19: Eminent personalities slam TMC MP Moitra for criticising NRI doctors

<ul><li><keyword id="4241922" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="ALTBalaji">ALTBalaji</keyword>, from the home of Indian television queen Ekta Kapoor, and Zee’s OTT platform <keyword id="6245082" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="ZEE5">Zee5</keyword> have announced a content partnership. </li><li>With the partnership, the two platforms will co-create content for users. </li><li>This comes at a time when both Netflix and <keyword id="758541" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amazon-Prime">Amazon Prime</keyword> are encouraging more and more Indian content on their platforms.</li></ul>Homegrown <keyword id="5293670" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="OTT-platforms">OTT platforms</keyword> ALTBalaji and Zee5 have teamed up to co-create content which will be available for streaming on both platforms. As per the agreement, they will co-create over 60 original Hindi series. ALTBalaji and Zee5 are backed by large media companies – ALTBalaji is the web initiative of soap opera queen Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms. And, Zee5 is the OTT platform of Subash Chandra owned Zee Group, which has over 45 channels across languages in India. Both Ekta Kapoor and Subhash Chandra are giants of the television space who lack a similar might in the online streaming space.

 Content wars Netflix and Amazon Prime Video are producing India content, wooing its audiences with path-breaking content. Some of their series like Sacred Games, Leila, Made in Heaven and 4 More Shots Please enjoy the same popularity as top-rated TV shows in India. Hotstar which leads the race with its sports programming and screening of globally popular shows like Game of Thrones, also recently put out an Indian adaptation of the popular US show The Office. Zee5 and ALTBalaji both have struck a chord with Indian audiences with their Hindi TV series programming. Now, they want to launch Hindi web series together, and catch younger audiences into the net, and move into the sweet spot created by OTT giants. But in a price sensitive market like India, content is not the king. Zee5 comes with a subscription plan of ₹99 a month, whereas ALTBalaji offers subscription at ₹100 for three months. Bringing them both together, will bring in savings and convenience to the audience. OTT giants too have been coming up with schemes that do not cut into the pockets. Amazon Prime offers a monthly plan of ₹129, and recently announced a 50% cashback for those between the age of 18-24. Netflix too, which is the most premium service in the market, announced a ₹199 mobile-only subscription plan. New Delhi, Mar 9 () The government is not considering to bring other private sector lenders under scrutiny in the aftermath of Yes Bank crisis that has left lakhs of customers worried if their hard earned money is really safe in banks."There is no such plan," said an official source when asked if the Yes Bank crisis preceded by Punjab and Maharashtra Co-operative (PMC) bank debacle calls for scrutiny of other lenders also.The official said that there has been timely action on part of both the government as well as the Reserve Bank of India (RBI)."The bailout plan has also been announced, so this will be contained," said the official. However, analysts expect that the new generation private sector lenders alongside the cooperatives could face slow growth in their deposits as the banking business is based on trust and confidence.S&amp;P Global Ratings said if Yes Bank's resolution process is prolonged, there is a risk the broader banking environment may take a hit. "The uncertainty may engulf weak financial-sector entities, including non-bank finance companies or private-sector banks. Companies with marginal credit profiles, perceived governance issues, and aggressive risk appetites are particularly vulnerable. These could suffer from extended risk aversion, resulting in rising borrowing costs," S&amp;P Global Ratings said.Yes Bank being put under administration has further eroded the confidence in the financial sector in India. After IL&amp;FS, DHFL and PMC Bank, this is a bigger setback given its size and profile, said Tarun Bhatia, MD &amp; Head of South Asia in the Business Intelligence and Investigations practice of Kroll.Brokerage firm Anand Rathi said deposit growth for select banks may slow down. "The banking system is based on goodwill and trust. Given the recent events (including at PMC and Yes), new age private banks and smaller regional banks may see slower deposit growth, Anand Rathi said in a note on 'India Banks? Likely contagion effect of Yes Bank'.It said although the regulator and the government have in both cases stepped in to safeguard the interests of depositors, "we expect retail investors to park their deposits in PSBs and select larger private banks".At least in the short run, deposit growth in new-age private and smaller regional banks could therefore significantly slow down. This may push up their cost of funds, eating into their margins. Loan growth of private banks with higher C/D (cost to deposit) ratios could be slower, it added."The event raises serious issues around corporate governance in the bank but will now bring all other mid and small size banks under scanner too. The cost of capital will increase for the banks and there could be increase in asset side risks with growing concern on the quality of portfolio they hold," said Bhatia of Kroll -- a division of Duff &amp; Phelps -- on Yes Bank development.During the moratorium period, Yes Bank will not be able to grant or renew any loan or advance, make any investment, incur any liability or agree to disburse any payment.As per the RBI's draft reconstruction scheme, State Bank of India (SBI) will pick up 49 per cent stake in the crisis-ridden Yes Bank under a government-approved bailout plan by infusing capital of Rs 2,450 crore. Bank's financial health is not sound as it has failed to raise enough capital under the new leadership of Ravneet Singh Gill, who took charge as managing director and CEO from March 1, 2019. Troubles at new generation private sector started brewing up ever since the Reserve Bank denied extension to its co-founder Rana Kapoor -- who now is in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate for financial mismanagement and money laundering charges -- to continue as MD and CEO in September 2018 and had asked the lender to find a new successor.
