Directed by Anil Sharma, the film is a sequel to Deol's 2001 blockbuster "Gadar: Ek Prem Katha". The actor has reprised his iconic role of Tara Singh in the film, released in theatres on August 11. The film had collected Rs 83.18 crore in the first two days of its release and on Sunday, registered a surge of over 20 per cent. The film has created a "non-solo, non-holiday release's fastest 100-crore milestone", the makers said in a press note. "With each passing day, its dominance has only grown stronger, culminating in a staggering day three collection of Rs 51.70 crore net, amassing a colossal total of Rs 134.88 crore net," they said. Produced by Zee Studios, the movie also features Ameesha Patel returning as Sakeena and Ukarsh Sharma as Charanjeet. "Gadar 2" is set in 1971 and follows Tara Singh's journey to Pakistan to rescue his son, Charanjeet Singh from the Pakistani Army. The original was set during the Partition.

In a post on X, production house Zee Studios said "Gadar 2" had raised Rs 456.05 crore at the ticket window since its release on August 11. Gadar 2 sets new benchmark for Week 2 box office collections

Created by <keyword id="36968" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="zoya-akhtar" source="Orion">Zoya Akhtar</keyword> and <keyword id="125922" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="reema-kagti" source="Orion">Reema Kagti</keyword>, the show revolves around Sobhita Dhulipala's Tara Khanna and actor Arjun Mathur's Karan Mehra, two best friends turned wedding planners navigating the world of big fat Indian weddings while dealing with conflicts in their personal lives. "Made In Heaven" season two will delve deeper into the lives of its characters who navigate the complexities of organizing and celebrating marriages while their own lives unfold in unexpected ways, a press release stated. "As seen in the first season, the new season will also feature a host of cameos, whilst taking forward the nuanced narrative on various social prejudices. Season Two will beautifully reveal the dichotomy of tradition, modern aspirations and belief systems set against the canvas of lavish Indian weddings," it stated. The seven-episode season two is directed by Kagti and Akhtar along with Alankrita Shrivastava, Neeraj Ghaywan and Nitya Mehra. Besides Dhulipala and Mathur, it also features Jim Sarbh, Kalki Koechlin, Shashank Arora, Shivani Raghuvanshi, and Vijay Raaz. The newcomers include Mona Singh, Ishwak Singh and Trinetra Haldar. The first season of "Made in Heaven" came out in 2019 and received critical-acclaim for its storytelling and performances by the lead cast. In a statement, Akhtar and Kagti said the show holds a special place in their hearts and is a symbol of "true strength of collaboration with many creative energies aligning". Prime Video's Made In Heaven Season 2 premieres on Aug 10

On expected lines, franchises retain top guns ahead of WPL-2

New Delhi, August 16 may have been a working day, but Rajinikanth's '<keyword id="218107" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="jailer" source="Orion">Jailer</keyword>' and Sunny Deol's '<keyword id="1847504" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Gadar-2" source="Orion">Gadar 2</keyword>' not only did well, but also left the Akshay Kumar-starrer '<keyword id="452656" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="OMG" source="Orion">OMG</keyword> 2' and Chiranjeevi's 'Bholaa Shankar' way behind. At the end of Day 6, 'Gadar 2' was sitting on a worldwide collection of Rs 338.50 crore (gross receipts across India, Rs 308.50 crore, which includes the 18 per cent GST component, plus Rs 30 crore overseas). Interestingly, Tara Singh's one-man war against Pakistan seems to have touched a chord in Chennai, for the southern metropolis saw a 73.75 per cent occupancy in theatres for 'Gadar 2'. Pakistan-bashing, clearly, works as much in the south as it does in the north, that too on a working Wednesday. 'Jailer', being a Tamil film, doesn't have as big a footprint as 'Gadar 2', yet with Thalaiva Rajinikanth headlining it, by its seventh day, it had amassed Rs 420 crore (all-India gross receipts, Rs 264.70 crore, plus Rs 155.30 crore overseas). Of course, the film's domestic collections have come mainly from the four southern states, led by Tamil Nadu (Rs 121.60 crore), followed by Andhra Pradesh / Telangana (Rs 53.50 crore), Karnataka (Rs 44.40 crore) and Kerala (Rs 35.90 crore). But Rajini's global fan following has ensured an overseas collection more than five times higher than that of 'Gadar 2', enabling it to be India's No. 1 movie today. 'OMG 2', in contrast, has just crossed the Rs 100-crore mark (Rs 108.80 crore, including all-India gross receipts of Rs 93.80 and an overseas collection of Rs 15 crore), even as 'Bholaa Shankar' is languishing at Rs 39 crore (all-India gross receipts, Rs 33.40 crore, plus Rs 5.60 crore earned overseas). 'Jailer' was massively hyped across South India, with offices in Tamil Nadu even giving a day off to their employees to watch the film on August 10 upon its release. Rajinikanth's persona in the movie is that of an old jailer hunting down a notorious gang lord and mercilessly eliminating his gang members. Regarding the magic of 'Jailer' at the box office, trade expert Ramesh Bala said: "Rajinikanth is a Superstar. The 'Superstar' tag alone is enough to garner it all the attention it needs. And then, he also benefits from worldwide recognition." Continuing his analysis, Bala said: "Apart from Rajinikanth, the movie has good content, it is different, and has other famous faces from the South, notably Malayalam superstar Mohanlal and Ramya Krishnan. But when you mention Rajinikanth, words such as swag, cool, attitude come to mind, and his 50-year-plus career and humble nature also help." Bala expects the lifetime collection of 'Jailer' to touch Rs 600 crore, which means it will surpass last year's 'Ponniyin Selvan 1' and 'Vikram', and stand just behind Rajini's '2.0'. 'Gadar 2' is not expected to cross Rs 450-500 crore, but its makers, having produced the film reportedly for Rs 75 crore, are already laughing all the way to the bank.

New Delhi, Jul 15 () Max Group firm Antara on Wednesday announced its foray into the 'Assisted Care Services' space with the launch of two new lines of business – Care Homes and Care at Home. "The company plans to invest over Rs 300 crore in the next 3 to 4 years across these new Assisted Care Services business lines and its existing business line of residences for seniors," Antara said in a statement. The Care Homes and Care at Home services will cater to seniors over the age of 55, who need more immersive interventions in their daily lives due to medical or age-related issues, it added. "For us, Antara 2.0 is a natural progression as it incorporates our learning over the past many years, from the senior living business," Antara Executive Chairman Tara Singh Vachani said. Vachani further said "over this period, we realized that to cater comprehensively to the senior segment, we will need to graduate to an integrated platform for seniors, offering multiple service lines". The problems faced by seniors in the recent time, due to the sudden and prolonged lockdown helped strengthen Antara's conviction about the immediate and pressing need for professional assisted care, she added. The company opened its first Care Home in Gurugram, in the National Capital Region on Wednesday. This will be followed by another Care Home launch in South Delhi, it added. "Antara plans to set up a chain of 35-40 such Care Homes in the next three years that will operate with an asset-light model. Of these, around 10 are expected to specialise in Memory Care," it added. According to Antara CEO and MD Rajit Mehta "we believe that the lack of specialized and standardized Assisted Care Services represents a significant gap in the healthcare and wellness space for seniors. We are well positioned to excel in this venture". Care Homes will include healthcare and monitoring services with round the clock nursing support from medically trained care professionals, daily doctor consults, vital monitoring, medication administration and emergency response protocol, regular physical activity, physiotherapy, and counselling sessions, the statement said. The Care Homes will also have common facilities such as dining spaces, activity spaces, and lounge areas equipped with senior-specific details in addition to regular engagement activities, Antara said. The second new line of business, Care at Home services will provide medically trained professionals who can offer seniors the care needed inside their own home's comfort, it added. The initial set of services under the Care at Home business include critical care, physiotherapy, rehabilitation, nursing and diagnostics among others, the statement said. Globally, Assisted Care Services is an established and sought-after category, especially in markets such as Japan, Singapore, US, and many parts of Europe.
