Here are the plays everybody will be talking about Monday:</p><p><strong>The Tar Heels game-winning shot</strong>.&#xa0;North Carolina beat Kentucky, 75-73, in a thrilling finish. Kentucky's star freshman Malik Monk hit a pair of huge three-pointers in the final minute, including one to tie the game with ten seconds to go. Roy Williams elected to not call a timeout and Kentucky coach John Calipari later said he regretted not calling one. Instead, UNC pushed the ball up court and Luke Maye hit the game-winner from just inside the three-point line with 0.3 seconds left on the clock. Maye, coming off the bench, had a career-high 17 points.&#xa0;</p><p><strong>The South Carolina non-travel</strong>. The Gamecocks are going to the first Final Four in school history after not even making the tournament in each of the previous ten seasons. The game was still in doubt with just under a minute to go when the Gators scored a basket and drew a foul for a three-point play to cut the lead to two. But on the ensuing inbounds pass, South Carolina threw&#xa0;the ball the length of the court. Guard Duane Notice hauled the pass in and was eventually fouled. But did he travel? It sure seemed like it, but it was not called. The foul shots would start a 7-2 run for South Carolina to end the game.</p><p>&#xa0;</p><p><strong>The Hideto Tanihara ace</strong>. Dustin Johnson beat John Rahm in the final of the WGC Dell Match Play event in Austin after earlier in the day beating Tanihara in the semifinals. On the other end, Carolina missed the first free throw of a one-and-one, and then Monk drilled another triple to suddenly tie the game with seven seconds left.&#xa0;</p><p>Then, chaos.&#xa0;</p><p>UNC raced up the court, the ball somehow landed in the hands of sophomore Luke Maye, who drained a jumper to give Carolina the lead with 0.3 seconds left.</p><p>Ballgame, UNC.&#xa0;</p><p>Here, for your viewing pleasure - or pain - is a video of Kentucky fans at a bar watching and reacting to the final minute of action.&#xa0;</p><p>In less than 10 seconds, Kentucky fans go from losing their minds in celebration of Monk's game-tying three, to sheer dejection when Maye's jumper falls. Video captures the ecstasy and agony of Kentucky fans during final seconds of heartbreaking March Madness loss to UNC

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Will Smith is the latest pitcher to be ejected for having a foreign substance on his body during a game.</p><p>The incident came in the seventh inning with the Brewers trailing the Atlanta Braves 2-1. Smith had faced one batter and Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez came out and asked the umpires to check Smith.</p><p>The umpires met, checked Smith's arm, and then quickly and nonchalantly ejected him from the game.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>Smith admitted after the game to having the substance, in this case a mixture of sunscreen and rosin, while warming up in the bullpen and said he forgot to wipe it off before entering the game.</p><p>"It was chilly and kind of windy," Smith told the media (<a href="http://news.yahoo.com/brewers-smith-ejected-allegedly-having-pine-tar-arm-013154500--spt.html">via the AP</a>). "I had rosin and sunscreen on my arm. I just forgot to wipe it off before I went out and pitched. I had to kind of get ready in a hurry. I just forgot. That's it."</p><p>Gonzalez didn't buy that argument, noting that he didn't ask the umpires to check Smith until he was seen touching that area of his arm with his pitching hand in between pitches.</p><p>Smith was livid as he left the field, presumably because he got caught doing something that lots of pitchers do.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>"It's very common," said Brewers manager Craig Counsell. "It goes on on the other side, I guarantee you. It's the rule. I think pitchers are using it but I guess you've got to be discreet about it."</p><p>And that was Smith's problem. His use of the foreign substance was anything but discreet as it was easily visible on television.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>This was reminiscent of Yankees pitcher Michael Pineda who was ejected for having an obvious glob of pine tar on his neck during a game last season.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>Pineda was ejected and was later suspended 10 games.</p><p>This latest incident once again has the baseball world up in arms. Some people feel one pitcher is being singled out for something a lot of pitchers do, and many others don't care and even encourage the practice. In other words, using something to get a better grip is something many feel should be legal.</p><p>The argument for not caring, and the growing movement to make it legal, is based on three points:</p><ol><li>Pine tar and the sunscreen/rosin mix are just used to get a better grip on the baseball, something some batters appreciate as it means pitches will be less wild and less likely to hit them.</li><li>Pine tar and the sunscreen/rosin mix presumably do not alter the behavior of the ball the way Vaseline (i.e. spitballs) does.</li><li>Everybody is doing it.</li></ol><p>Even Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman came to Smith's defense saying after the game, "Every pitcher does it so they'll have a better grip so we won't get hit in the head."</p><p>The problem is point No. 3 above. It's almost certainly not true that every pitcher is doing it, which means as long as it is illegal, some pitchers are indeed gaining an advantage by having a better grip than those who choose to follow the rules.</p><p>After Pineda was ejected last year, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/why-pitchers-use-pine-tar-2014-4">ESPN's Buster Olney argued</a> that MLB needs to approve a substance that pitchers can use to get a better grip on what is a slippery ball.</p><p>"It's time for [MLB] to identify a substance they will approve for pitcher so that they can improve their grip on the baseball," Olney argued. "Something that can be for them what pine tar is to hitters."</p><p>This does seem to be the growing sentiment in baseball. But until that happens, pitchers are at risk of getting caught, getting ejected, and being suspended. Brewers pitcher gets ejected for having a blatantly obvious foreign substance on his arm

<ul class="summary-list"><li><keyword id="9096091" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="uswnt">USWNT</keyword> superstar <keyword id="1180817" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Tobin-Heath">Tobin Heath</keyword> is an acclaimed artist in addition to her <keyword id="3071" type="SPORT" weightage="60" keywordseo="Soccer">soccer</keyword> exploits.</li><li>She never intended to share her work, but Heath recently began to open up her <keyword id="1105" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="art">art</keyword> to the public.</li><li>Heath spoke to Insider about purposeful creation for <a href="https://re-website.com/">re-inc</a> and how she reconciles art with soccer.</li></ul><p>Artistry and athleticism are often viewed as incongruous forces.</p><p>But in rare instances, they combine to form something brilliant, and that's plain to see when Tobin Heath plays soccer.</p><div type="image" title="tobin heath" height="1763" width="2350" msid="83066229" hostid="261"></div><p>"My interest in life and creating go to the core of who I am," Heath told Insider. "I see football as an art. I see how I use my body to perform skills that I want to do on the field. And I've always viewed sport that way."</p><p>"That's the way that I want to be seen as an athlete - as an artist on the field."</p><p>Heath can generate offensive opportunities seemingly out of thin air with a combination of superior field vision and unparalleled ingenuity at her disposal. And even though she's scored plenty of goals during her US Women's National Team tenure, she's been most instrumental to the USWNT's continued success through to her ability to open up the pitch and churn out assists.</p><p>In other words, Heath is a creator - whether she has the ball at her feet or a paintbrush in her hand.</p><p>She may be best known as one of the top athletes in the world, but Heath is also an artist away from the soccer pitch - and she's a damn good one, too. Her paintings, which have only recently seen the light of day, have sold for tens of thousands of dollars apiece.</p><p>Heath has long kept her art private despite her obvious talent. But with a greater purpose now fueling her, the 33-year-old has finally opted to bring her artwork into the limelight.</p><p>"I am very conscious about what I do put out into the world and the things that I say and that I create and I share," she said, "because I always want to be thoughtful in the things that I'm doing - both with my life and the things that I'm saying."</p><div type="image" title="tobin heath" height="1665" width="2220" msid="83066233" hostid="261"></div><h2>Art has always been a refuge for Heath, an introvert in the public eye since her teens</h2><p>A generational soccer talent, Heath found herself thrust into the spotlight from a very young age. As early as 2003 - when she was 15 years old - the Morristown, New Jersey, native was representing the United States abroad through US youth national teams. Three years later, she was an instant standout at the college level when she joined ranks with the perennial heavyweight North Carolina Tar Heels.</p><p>Heath made her first appearance for the senior USWNT at just 19, and she became the youngest player named to the United States' 2008 Olympics roster shortly after turning 20. Two Olympic gold medals, two World Cup victories, four USWNT coaches, and 169 caps later, Heath has cemented herself as a bona fide icon for one of the world's most dominant and revered teams.</p><div type="image" title="tobin heath unc" height="1690" width="2253" msid="83066235" hostid="261"></div><p>But fame has come at a cost; privacy is scarce when you achieve legend status.</p><p>"I feel like the whole world is in this shareable phase, like I have to be seen doing everything," Heath said. "Everybody has to share my every word, and I've never been a person that believed that at all because so much about what we put forth isn't even honest or true."</p><p>Finding a means of expressing herself within "this overshare society," as she calls it, has been crucial for Heath. Art has always been her solution. </p><div type="image" title="tobin heath.JPG" height="1667" width="2500" msid="83066239" hostid="261"></div><p>As a deeply introspective and quiet person by nature, Heath has unsurprisingly chosen to keep her art private for most of her life. But that all changed upon her realization - with a bit of help - that she could share her projects in an "intentional ... and meaningful" way.</p><h2>At Christen Press' urging, Heath decided to open up her art to the public via re-inc</h2><p>In 2019, Heath joined forces with fellow USWNT stars Megan Rapinoe, Meghan Klingenberg, and Press to start <a href="https://re-website.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">re-inc</a> - a gender-neutral fashion and lifestyle brand. And it was during a conversation with Press, the company's CEO, that Heath came to realize she could have the most impact as re-inc's creative director if she used her art "to bring these collections and stories to life."</p><div type="image" title="_ADA process 2" height="1080" width="1616" msid="83066241" hostid="261"></div><p>"I really wasn't planning on sharing it," Heath said. "But Christen, our CEO, was like, 'You should share this with the community. This is obviously part of your process - you creating.' And I was really hesitant about it, honestly, because it wasn't something that was ever intended to be seen."</p><p>Eventually, Heath overcame that initial trepidation and heeded Press' advice, setting to work on her first official pieces for the brand. She created a three-painting series of the words Liberté, Egalité, and Défendez - French for Liberty, Equality, and Defend - that represented Heath's "reinterpretation of what our launch story meant to me," <a href="https://re-website.com/products/egalite-artwork">per the re-inc website</a>.</p><p>It took a lot for Heath to let go and publicize her work. But she was certainly encouraged by the outpouring of support once she did.</p><div type="image" title="tobin heath" height="1796" width="2394" msid="83066244" hostid="261"></div><p>"We got such a great and positive and cool response from the first one," she said, "that we decided to continue it and make it like a very big part of the beginning of our collection."</p><h2>Re-inc has given Heath a platform upon which to share her art for a greater purpose</h2><p>Since that first collection went live late in 2019, the superstar striker has grown accustomed to sharing her work away from the field. Each time re-inc introduces a new seasonal collection, Heath produces an accompanying piece aimed at "grappling with a lot of things that are hard about our society."</p><p>Her most recent piece - titled "ADA" - complements the <a href="https://re-website.com/collections/gamer-collection">Spring 2021 "Gamer" collection</a>. Heath uses binary throughout the black and green <keyword id="1197" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Painting">painting</keyword> to symbolize a "structured society limited to these two numbers." But eventually, she shatters the monotony by cleverly "breaking the binary with a seven."</p><div type="image" title="_ADA Auction" height="1666" width="2222" msid="83066246" hostid="261"></div><p>"It's an industry that I felt mirrored the sport industry in a lot of ways," Heath said. "And how women have been treated in a specific way within that industry that creates a lot of gender norms that are very disturbing and destructive to our society."</p><p>"[Re-inc's collections are] about a lot of things that are rooted in pain and frustration, and the art honestly is part of that process," she added. "When I start creating for the story, it's really hard, honestly. And I think a lot of times I become really, really frustrated within the confines of the story that I'm trying to tell. All of the art that I've created from re-inc is an expression of that in a certain form."</p><div type="image" title="_ADA process 1" height="1616" width="1080" msid="83066249" hostid="261"></div><p>But the payoff is more than worth it. Not only does Heath experience what she described as "liberation" every time she completes a piece, but she's also able to channel her artistic energy into something bigger than herself. The company auctions off each of her works through its site and donates 17% of proceeds, a reference to Heath's USWNT jersey number, to a nonprofit related to the collection's theme.</p><p>"I always feel like it's such an honor to bring the next collection and idea to life," Heath said.</p><p>Her pieces - she's now created six in total - have sold for tens of thousands of dollars apiece, contributing to the $70,000 re-inc has donated to 13 different organizations.</p><h2>For Heath, art and sport are more interconnected than meets the eye</h2><p>Heath isn't always the best with words. And for most of her career, she has been more than happy to let her play do the talking.</p><p>But any time the USWNT virtuoso finds herself away from the pitch - between training sessions and games, during the offseason, or worst: when injured - she relies on "being able to have a creative outlet" via her art.</p><p>"I find football and art to be very much cut from the same cloth, which is how I see the world and how I interpret it and then how I express it," Heath said. "I don't communicate with words as well as I do with being able to create both as an athlete and the things that I create off the field."</p><div type="image" title="tobin heath" height="1808" width="2412" msid="83066250" hostid="261"></div><p>And that sentiment has only intensified over this past year, as multiple injuries - first to her ankle and later, during rehab, to her knee - have kept Heath away from the pitch and robbed her of a full season with her club, <keyword id="6034" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="Manchester-United">Manchester United</keyword>.</p><p>"I got more serious about art in the times that I wasn't able to play and in my injuries," Heath said. "I feel a little more sedentary when I'm not being able to be on the field and use my body and feeling a little stifled in that way."</p><p>Those recent injuries have lingered, and the longer they've stuck around, the more they've threatened her chances of making the USWNT's roster for this summer's Olympics. And while it'd undoubtedly be painful for Heath to miss out on a third gold medal in Tokyo, her work has never actually been motivated by the final outcome - in soccer or in art.</p><div type="image" title="tobin heath" height="1000" width="1333" msid="83066252" hostid="261"></div><p>For Heath, it's not about the trophy or the masterpiece, the accolades or the appraisal; it's about the journey it takes to get there - the creative process itself.</p><p>"What's so beautiful about art is that there is a joy in it, and there's this surrender in it," Heath said. "Somebody always told me success isn't winning, success is trying... It's not what did you do, but did you try. I feel like that was a big part of the art."</p><p>"I don't have a fear of trying, and I don't have a fear of failing," she added. "So I just do, and that's part of the creating."</p>

US soccer superstar Tobin Heath wants to be seen as 'an artist on the field' - and off of it, too

<ul class="summary-list"><li>I tried recipes for 5-minute, 30-minute, and 100-hour <a href="https://www.insider.com/good-weed-brownie-recipe-for-beginners-review-photos">brownies</a> to see which one is really worth it. </li><li>The 5-minute <keyword id="52676" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="recipe">recipe</keyword> tasted like the TV<strong>-dinner version of the classic dessert.</strong></li><li><strong>The 100-hour recipe was initially intriguing, but I'll stick to making the classic 30-minute one.</strong></li></ul><p>I always used to take the easy way out by making <keyword id="750267" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="brownies">brownies</keyword> from a boxed mix and <a href="https://www.insider.com/boxed-brownie-mix-hacks-2018-9">upgrading them</a> with fun mix-ins like caramel or Oreos.</p><p>But after testing some delicious recipes <a href="https://www.insider.com/brownie-recipes-from-celebrities-taste-test-and-review-2019-11">by celebrities</a> and <a href="https://www.insider.com/which-famous-chef-has-the-best-brownies-test-review-2019-12">famous chefs</a>, I'm much more interested in whipping up this dessert from scratch. So I followed the popular trend and tried a five-minute, 30-minute, and 100-hour <keyword id="974591" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="brownie">brownie</keyword> recipe to compare them all.</p><p>Read on to find out which recipe turned out the best.</p><h2><strong>I tested the 5-minute brownie first to see if it would satisfy a sudden craving</strong></h2><p><strong><div type="image" title="5 min brownie recipe ingredients" height="3024" width="4032" msid="82437448" hostid="261"></div></strong></p><p>I started with <a href="https://www.thekitchn.com/brownie-in-a-mug-22943613#post-recipe-14189">a quick recipe from Kitchn</a> for a <a href="https://www.insider.com/mistakes-you-are-making-microwaving-food-doing-wrong">microwaved</a> brownie in a mug. I've tried mug-brownie mixes from the store before, but they can be pretty pricey, so I usually skip them.</p><p>This recipe was appealing because it included super simple ingredients that I always keep in my pantry and fridge: butter, brown sugar, milk, vanilla extract, flour, cocoa powder, salt, and chocolate chips.</p><h2><strong>The process was as easy as I expected</strong></h2><p><strong><div type="image" title="5 min brownies whisking butter milk vanilla and sugar" height="3024" width="4032" msid="82437456" hostid="261"></div></strong></p><p>I started by <a href="https://www.insider.com/butter-taste-test-2018-11">melting some butter</a> in a mug and swirling it around to coat the sides since I'd be microwaving the brownie in it.</p><p>I poured this melted butter into a bowl and mixed in the other wet ingredients. Then in a separate bowl, I whisked together the dry ingredients and added them to the wet mix, too.</p><div type="image" title="5 min brownies adding to mug" height="2829" width="3772" msid="82437459" hostid="261"></div><p>Finally, I folded in the chocolate chips and poured the batter back into the mug.</p><p>I microwaved the brownie for one minute and 15 seconds, but it didn't look done yet, so I popped it back in for an extra 20 seconds.</p><h2><strong>This brownie tasted like it came from a frozen TV dinner</strong></h2><p><strong><div type="image" title="5 min brownie final result" height="3024" width="4032" msid="82437464" hostid="261"></div></strong></p><p>This brownie smelled just like <a href="https://www.insider.com/costco-best-cheap-dinners-to-buy-photos">a microwave meal</a> and tasted like one, too.</p><p>This recipe would be nearly irredeemable without the optional chocolate chips. And the texture was very dry, so I understood why it recommended serving it <a href="https://www.insider.com/how-to-make-ice-cream-taste-better-at-home">with ice cream</a>.</p><p>Overall, I'd prefer to take the extra time to have a proper brownie. But if I had a really strong hankering for chocolate and had ice cream to cover it in, I'd consider making the recipe again.</p><h2><strong>The 30-minute brownie looked like a slightly quicker version of my go-to</strong></h2><p><strong><div type="image" title="30 min brownie ingredients" height="3024" width="4032" msid="82437471" hostid="261"></div></strong></p><p>The first thing I noticed about <a href="https://flourchild.com/30-minute-fast-and-easy-brownies/">this recipe from Flour Child</a> was that it didn't require melting chocolate via a double broiler. It's a fairly easy task but one I always dread, so I was happy not to see it.</p><p>This recipe only required basic brownie ingredients that are combined in one pot on the stove before <keyword id="6360038" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="baking">baking</keyword>.</p><h2><strong>The recipe seemed easy at first, but things got a little messy</strong></h2><p><strong><div type="image" title="30 min brownie melting butter and cocoa" height="3024" width="4032" msid="82437480" hostid="261"></div></strong></p><p>I started by melting butter in the pot on low heat before mixing in the cocoa powder. Then I removed the pot from heat and added the sugar and vanilla - which made the mixture <a href="https://www.insider.com/brownie-baking-mistakes-and-how-to-fix-2019-1">suspiciously gritty</a>.</p><p>Next, I added in the four eggs, mixing them one at a time until they were fully incorporated into the batter. I moved as quickly as possible with this step so that the <a href="https://www.insider.com/cooking-eggs-mistakes-2018-4">eggs wouldn't start cooking</a> in the warm pan. </p><div type="image" title="30 min brownie adding dry ingredients" height="3024" width="4032" msid="82437484" hostid="261"></div><p>After adding the eggs, the batter was very glossy and ready for the dry ingredients: flour, salt, and baking powder.</p><p>Although the pot I was using was pretty large, I still made a mess when I tried stirring in the flour. It poofed out of the top of the pot, over the side of the oven, and onto the floor. </p><div type="image" title="30 min brownie ready for oven" height="3024" width="4032" msid="82437485" hostid="261"></div><p>This recipe called for a 9-by-13-inch pan, but mine was occupied by my 100-hour brownie batter (which I needed to start first). Instead, I divided the batter, putting some into an 8-by-8-inch pan and the rest in a small cast-iron skillet just to see what would happen.</p><h2><strong>These brownies turned out exactly how I like them</strong></h2><p><strong><div type="image" title="30 min brownie after baking" height="3024" width="4032" msid="82437492" hostid="261"></div></strong></p><p>These were exactly what I think of when I conjure up the image of <a href="https://www.insider.com/easy-baking-hacks-2018-9">a classic brownie</a>.</p><p>They had a flaky, lightly crisp top and a fudgy and dense (but not too dense) inside. There was also a rich chocolate flavor, but it wasn't overwhelming.</p><p>I did the incredibly hard work of taste-testing both an edge piece and a center one. I don't usually go for edge pieces because sometimes they're too tough to bite into, but these were actually great. The edges had a slight crunch but were still pretty soft.</p><div type="image" title="30 min brownie final result" height="3024" width="4032" msid="82437499" hostid="261"></div><p>They fell apart when I cut and pulled them from the pan even though I let them sit and cool for a couple of hours as directed. But the superior taste and texture made up for that.</p><p>The skillet experiment was also delicious. I baked it for less time because it was in a smaller container, but it had the same excellent taste and texture and came out of the skillet cleanly.</p><p>I definitely plan on making this recipe again, but I might mix everything in a stand mixer next time instead of in a pot on the stove.</p><h2><strong>The 100-hour brownies required a lot - and I mean a lot - of chocolate</strong></h2><p><strong><div type="image" title="100 hour brownies ingredients" height="3024" width="4032" msid="82437502" hostid="261"></div></strong></p><p>I expected this time-consuming brownie recipe <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28NB3L9YuVI">from Alvin Zhou</a> to be incredibly rich because it called for espresso powder and coffee ice cubes to enhance the flavor of the chocolate. </p><p>And there was <a href="https://www.insider.com/chocolate-desserts-to-try-around-the-world-2019-6">a whole lot of chocolate</a> in this recipe. I had to scrounge up 17 and 1/2 ounces of chocolate bars plus a hefty amount of cocoa powder.</p><p>The ingredients, plus the enormous amount of chilling time, led me to believe these would be really dense and fudgy.</p><h2><strong>Most of the time was spent waiting around until I could eat the brownies</strong></h2><p><strong><div type="image" title="100 hr brownies adding melted chocolate" height="3024" width="4032" msid="82437504" hostid="261"></div></strong></p><p>The first step was to brown a lot of butter on the stove before adding in espresso powder and a <a href="https://www.insider.com/simple-ways-to-make-better-coffee-at-home">coffee</a> ice cube. But the espresso powder I used didn't mix well into the hot butter - some of it turned into a tough, tar-like substance that stuck to the whisk.</p><p>I then mixed eggs, sugar, and vanilla in the stand mixer and added the cocoa powder, more espresso, salt, and the browned-butter mixture.</p><p>While that combined in the stand mixer, I melted 8 ounces of dark chocolate and stirred that in as well.</p><p>Finally, I poured in the flour and let the stand mixer do its thing while I chopped up more dark and milk chocolate pieces to fold into the batter.</p><div type="image" title="100 hr brownies folding in chocolate" height="3024" width="4032" msid="82437509" hostid="261"></div><p>I poured my batter into a 9-by-13-inch glass dish, topped it with even more chunks of dark chocolate, and left it to rest.</p><p><strong><div type="image" title="100 hr brownies ready for oven" height="3024" width="4032" msid="82437519" hostid="261"></div></strong></p><p>These required a few extra steps than classic brownies, but it wasn't too difficult. The real challenge was letting the batter rest in the fridge for three full days.</p><p>When I want brownies, I want them as soon as possible, so this was frustrating.</p><h2><strong>I was so excited to finally bake the brownies - until I figured out I had to let them rest again after</strong></h2><p><strong><div type="image" title="100 hr brownies after baking" height="3024" width="4032" msid="82437520" hostid="261"></div></strong></p><p>It's pretty criminal to make someone rest their brownies for three days before baking, but it's even worse knowing I have to put them in the fridge for another 24 hours after.</p><p>But for the sake of the experiment, I moved forward <a href="https://www.insider.com/baking-hacks-favorite-recipes-from-duff-goldman-2020-8">with the baking step</a>.</p><p>I pulled the batter from the fridge and it was as hard as a rock and looked pretty dry.</p><p>Because I used a glass dish, I let the brownies sit on the counter for a couple of hours while they came close to room temperature before baking.</p><p>When going from cool to hot so quickly, glass has a <a href="https://www.berlinpackaging.com/at_what_temperature_will_glass_break/">higher risk of shattering</a>, and I'd honestly be so annoyed if I lost these brownies to a shattered glass pan.</p><div type="image" title="100 hour brownies after resting a second time" height="3024" width="4032" msid="82437531" hostid="261"></div><p>Because of the temperamental glass issue, I also skipped the freezing step (Zhou said to freeze the brownies for 30 minutes immediately after baking to lock in the moisture).</p><p>Instead, I let my brownies cool on the counter before moving them to the fridge to sit for another day.</p><h2><strong>After 100 hours of waiting for these brownies, I was disappointed with the results</strong></h2><p><strong><div type="image" title="100 hour brownies before reheating" height="2649" width="3532" msid="82437541" hostid="261"></div></strong></p><p>These brownies were nearly impossible to cut out of the pan, even when I used a sharp, high-quality knife.</p><p>Once I finally got a brownie onto a plate, I noticed little balls of what looked like fat inside.</p><div type="image" title="100 hour brownies after reheating" height="2563" width="3417" msid="82437550" hostid="261"></div><p>When I heated the brownie in the microwave, these little fatty bits pooled around the bottom, making it a little greasy.</p><p>As far as flavor goes, this was way too rich. I love chocolate. I love <a href="https://www.insider.com/kris-jenners-famous-brownies-recipe-test-2019-4">brownies</a>. I even love the bitterness of dark chocolate and coffee. But this was too rich and bitter for me.</p><p>The texture, in addition to the greasiness, was also too dense.</p><p>I'm not opposed to trying this again, but I'd probably just let the batter sit for one day and then eat the brownies warm straight from the oven, which would make the recipe a long cry from 100 hours. </p><h2><strong>I think I'll stick to the 30-minute recipe to satisfy my brownie cravings from now on</strong></h2><p><strong><div type="image" title="30 min brownie final results" height="2505" width="3340" msid="82437553" hostid="261"></div></strong></p><p>Overall, the 30-minute brownies were by far the best. They had that classic brownie flavor and texture and really didn't take long to make.</p><p>I'll be returning to this recipe again and again, but I plan to make it in my stand mixer instead of going through the mess of mixing the ingredients on the stove.</p><p>If I was really desperate for a brownie and <a href="https://www.insider.com/how-to-store-ice-cream-the-best-what-doing-wrong-2019-11">had some ice cream on hand</a> to help mask the dry texture, I guess the five-minute version would suffice.</p><p>The final flavor and texture of the 100-hour brownie just weren't worth all of the time I invested into making them.</p><p>If I ever tried the 100-hour recipe again, I'd change several parts of the process. In addition to cutting down the resting time, I'd swap the browned butter for regular melted butter and maybe reduce the amount of chocolate because multiple full-sized bars seemed excessive to me.</p>

One day in late March, Love and Jordan's roommate, Buzz Peterson, decided to play golf, and Jordan, despite his inexperience with the game, decided to tag along. The three became golf buddies, often playing together at the UNC golf course.</p><p>That's where Jordan made an innocent mistake that may have had far-reaching effects on Love's golf career. During one round, Love ran off to retrieve something from his dorm, and Jordan decided to try an experiment using one of the three-time All-American's clubs.</p><p><a href="http://www.pgatour.com/long-form/2017/08/08/michael-jordan-golf-origin-story.htmlhttp://www.pgatour.com/long-form/2017/08/08/michael-jordan-golf-origin-story.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">According to Helen Ross</a> of PGA Tour.com:</p><p>Love probably wasn't happy to return to a broken driver, but everything worked out for the best. The North Carolina native got a new model and soon enjoyed a meteoric rise through the professional ranks, ultimately becoming one of the most successful golfers of the 1990s.</p><p>"[Jordan] will still tell you we set him up on it," Love said. "… And actually he probably did me a favor because the driver that I replaced that one with through a friend of my dad's is the one I used from 1985-1997...Michael had a huge influence on my driving career. He broke the gamer, so I had to go get a new one."</p><p>Love won 12 PGA Tour events over that span, including a PGA Championship and a Players Championship. He was also one of the circuit's top 20 players in driving distance in every year from 1986 through 2001, so it's possible that he owes Jordan a big thank you for breaking that old driver.</p><p>One of the sport's top prospects, Love appeared to be on a path to stardom either way, but golf is a game in which the smallest adjustments can have huge effects. If nothing else, it's fascinating to think of what might have been if Jordan hadn't decided to test out his friend's clubs.</p><p>This year's PGA Championship is being held in North Carolina for the first time in over 40 years. <p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>Last year, anyone who correctly chose each winner from the 64 NCAA tournaments would have won $1 billion from Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway. </p><p>And though no one actually won the $1 billion, <a href="http://money.cnn.com/2015/03/12/news/buffett-ncaa-bracket-bet/index.html">CNNMoney reported </a>Thursday that the contest ended in a big legal battle for the companies involved. </p><p>The contest was a collaboration between Yahoo, Berkshire Hathaway, and Quicken Loans. Then SCA Promotions, a small sweepstakes company, sued Yahoo for backing out of a contest deal with them.</p><p>In response, Yahoo sued SCA Promotions for giving the contest idea to Berkshire Hathaway, when buying $1 billion insurance for the very slim chance that someone might win. </p><p>Most recently, Yahoo subpoenaed Berkshire Hathaway in February, requesting all communication between the firm and SCA Promotions about the contest. Trump wants to hit another $200 billion worth of Chinese imports with tariffs - here's what could get slammed

<p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div><ul class="summary-list"><li>President Donald Trump announced tariffs on $200 billion worth of Chinese goods on Monday, escalating the US-China trade war.</li><li>The tariffs will apply to a slew of Chinese goods, ranging from minerals to food to clothing.</li><li>The US Trade Representatives office removed almost 300 items from an initial list released in July.</li><li>But&#xa0;<span>5,745 Chinese goods will still get hit. </span></li><li><span>We complied the major categories of goods that will be subject to the tariffs.</span></li></ul><p>President Donald Trump kicked the trade war with China into high gear Monday, formally announcing the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-china-trade-war-tariff-chinese-goods-2018-9">imposition of tariffs on $200 billion worth of Chinese goods</a>.</p><p>The tariffs cover a wide array of goods, from minerals used in manufacturing, to vegetable juices, to leather handbags. All of the goods with face a 10% duty until the start of 2019, when the tariffs will jump to 25%.</p><p>While the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-china-trade-war-wilbur-ross-tariff-price-increase-2018-9">Trump administration is downplaying</a> the effect of the tariffs, many economists expect prices for these goods will increase once the tariffs are officially imposed on September 24.</p><p>The new list of goods that will be subject to the tariffs was released by the US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer's office on Monday.</p><p>The final list is notably different from the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-china-tariff-full-list-of-goods-products-2018-6">previous round of tariffs</a> on $50 billion worth of Chinese goods, because there are consumer products on the list. The previous round focused <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-tariffs-trade-war-prices-go-up-2018-4">almost exclusively on industrial equipment</a> and machinery, while the new round includes items like hats, TVs, and food.</p><p>There were 297 items removed from the USTR's initial list, released in July, after the public comment period</p><p>Those include:</p><ul><li>Certain consumer electronics including smartwatches and bluetooth devices</li><li>Certain industrial chemicals used for manufacturing textiles</li><li><span>Certain health and safety products including bicycle helmets</span></li><li><span>Certain types of child safety furniture including high chairs and car seats</span></li></ul><p><span>The USTR did not specify how it determined which products to remove beyond assertions that the official followed an inter-agency procedure and listened to feedback from businesses. The <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-trade-tariffs-apple-products-cloud-industry-2018-9?r=UK&amp;IR=T">smartwatch removal drew interest</a> after it was revealed that Apple, makers of the Apple Watch, <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2018/09/18/trumps-tariffs-wont-bite-apple-illustrating-tim-cooks-political-sway/">directly lobbied the White House</a>.</span></p><p><span>Even with the removals, 5,745 full or partial tariff lines are included on the final list that represent roughly $200 billion worth of Chinese imports.</span></p><p><span>Here's a breakdown of the major categories included in the list:</span></p><ul><li><strong>Meat:</strong><span>&#xa0;</span>pork; 10 life lessons from legendary North Carolina basketball coach Dean Smith

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right click-to-enlarge"><div><div class="image on-image"><a title_source="Flickr/cybershotking" title_caption="" class="zoomin" href="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/52278f856bb3f70439316148-960/329184504b58ce169f4b.jpg"><span class="sprites click-to-enlarge-icon" title="Click to enlarge"></span></a><p class="source"><span><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/cybershotking/">Flickr/cybershotking</a></span></p></div><p></p></div></div>Earlier this month <a href="http://www.wsj.com/articles/justice-department-investigates-rigging-of-contracts-in-advertising-industry-1481046420">The Wall Street Journal revealed</a> the US Department of Justice (DoJ) has opened up into an investigation into whether <keyword id="35666" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="advertising">advertising</keyword> agencies are intentionally rigging the bidding process for TV and video commercial production contracts to favor their own in-house companies, rather than independent production outfits.</p><p><a href="http://www.wsj.com/articles/interpublic-group-contacted-by-justice-department-in-ad-probe-1481124283">IPG confirmed</a> one of its "standalone domestic [agencies]" is cooperating with the investigation and has been asked to hand over documents. <a href="http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/omnicom-press-statement-300379669.html">Omnicom said two of its subsidiaries have received subpoenas</a> from the DoJ concerning its investigation into video production and post production practices and that it too is cooperating with the authorities. All of the other "big six" advertising holding companies - WPP, Publicis Groupe, Dentsu, and Havas - have declined to comment about whether any of their agencies are involved.</p><p>It sounds complicated. And it is. But the investigation could have huge repercussions on the entire advertising industry, that stretch beyond the estimated $5 billion production sector.</p><p>People could go to prison. </p><p>Here's why.</p><h2>What is bid rigging and why is the DoJ probing ad agencies and production companies over it?</h2><p>This is what should generally happen when a brand appoints an ad agency to work on a commercial. The agency is responsible for the big, strategic, creative idea. But a production company is responsible for filming the commercial, directing the shoot, and a post-production company provides services such as visual effects and editing.</p><p>The ad agency agrees with their client that they will put the production work out for competitive pitches among a number of production companies. Interested companies bid for the work by naming their price. The ad agency recommends which production companies they think the client should choose. The client picks what seems like the most suitable company, with the most reasonable price to take on the work.</p><p>But here's where it gets a bit muddy.</p><p>Many agency holding companies have bought or built out their own production and post production companies, often under different names to the ad agencies they sit within. They want to get the work themselves, rather than seeing it lost to the independent production company sector. Good players want to win this work fairly, by having the most talented employees - directors, colorists, sound engineers, visual effects artists, and so on - and the best body of work.</p><p>But the DoJ is looking at whether some ad agencies are using dubious illegal methods to make sure they win those production budgets. We spoke to a number of advertising industry sources and it appears this is the kind of scenario the DoJ is looking at.</p><p>An ongoing joke in the industry is: You give away the ideas for free, you make the money on production. As brand procurement departments have squeezed the prices down on services such as strategic insight, planning, and account handling, agencies have looked for new revenue streams as they attempt to keep their margins healthy.</p><p>Ad agencies work with independent production agencies all the time. But there is also an industry term often thrown about called "make weights."</p><p>Here's the kind of hypothetical situation the DoJ is looking for: Ad agencies ask two of their independent production company pals to submit a bid for the work - usually something fairly high so the client is never likely to consider it. The creative agency offers the production companies the promise of work in the future, or threatens they may get no work from them in the future, or maybe even offers some sort of payout in return for playing along with the game.</p><p>Two "competing" bids of, say, $310,000 may justify the in-house ad agency's seemingly high production fee of $250,000 to the client (even though the work could have probably been completed for far cheaper than that).</p><p>What was just described is bid-rigging and price-fixing - both of which are illegal in the United States under federal antitrust <keyword id="6355470" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Law">law</keyword>.</p><h2>The prosecutor looking into this investigation has sent ad executives to prison before</h2><p>Rebecca Meiklejohn, the DoJ attorney leading this investigation, has trodden this ground before.</p><p>In the early 2000s, <a href="http://www.adweek.com/news/advertising/taken-ride-75814">Meiklejohn led an investigation into bid-rigging among printers who work ad agencies</a>. She used informants wearing hidden microphones to collect evidence, in addition to flipping low-level offenders to testify against bigger fish on Madison Avenue. </p><p>She indicted 22 ad execs and got convictions in 21 of those cases. Most famously, Grey Global Group executive vice president for print Mitch Mosallem was sentenced to a term in federal prison for 70 months. Haluk Ergulec, the former owner of Color Wheel, a New York print shop, was imprisoned for 37 months. The others paid millions in fines and restitution, collectively. </p><p>Since the mid-1990s, Meiklejohn's office has prosecuted about 60 different ad execs in various anti-competition cases, going all the way back to <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/1995/05/23/business/the-media-business-advertising-addenda-executive-resigns-at-wells-rich-greene.html">Harold Singer, the notorious print boss of Wells Rich Greene</a>. Back in the Mad Men era, Singer spent so much money on steak and vodka with his co-conspirators at the Palm Too restaurant in Manhattan that the restaurant owner <a href="https://business.highbeam.com/436953/article-1G1-16948791/color-money">painted his face into a mural on its wall</a>. He pled guilty to conspiracy to defraud the IRS, and got three years' probation.</p><p>Print production and TV commercial production are completely different businesses, but they both have one thing in common: The companies' clients are ad agencies, and those agencies' clients generally insist on seeing multiple competitive bids on their work before they choose a vendor.</p><p>Rigging the bids - colluding to fix bid prices so that you know which one will win before the client sees them - is a straightforward violation of federal anti-competition law. Those cases fall squarely onto Meikeljohn's beat inside the DoJ. So she is likely to be very, very curious about allegations that bidding for TV and video production contracts is fixed. </p><p>It's difficult to predict what the result of the investigation could be this time around.</p><p>Richard Robinson, managing partner of London-based marketing consultancy firm Oystercatchers, said: "In my experience, legal people think in a very binary context: Did the agency do a rigorous job of finding their client the best value for money or did they have a predetermined objective of doing the job themselves? Has anyone involved broken the law and, if so, was it pre-meditated or was it by accident, unintentional or just unknown when they did it? Can [the DoJ] prosecute? That's up to how angry they decide they're going to get and how much ball the agencies play with the prosecutor."</p><p>Robinson points out that clients should also take some of the responsibility here. Did they ask the right questions of their agencies when they briefed or approved the work, and did they even know what the right questions were that they needed to ask? If the investigation does find evidence of bid-rigging, then clients need to ask themselves why it was allowed to happen on their watch.</p><h2>This could be just the beginning of the DoJ's probe into the ad sector</h2><p>Sources told Business Insider that this probe could throw the door open for the DoJ to investigate other alleged non-transparent practices in the advertising business.</p><p>It is significant that Meiklejohn has subpoenaed K2 as part of her investigation, as first reported by The Wall Street Journal and confirmed by Business Insider with sources with knowledge of the matter.</p><p>K2 is an investigations firm that was founded by father-son detective duo Jules and Jeremy Kroll and is staffed by former FBI agents and DoJ attorneys.</p><p>The firm also authored the <a href="http://uk.businessinsider.com/ana-report-alleges-widespread-ad-agency-kickback-schemes-2016-6">bombshell media transparency report</a> commissioned by the Association of National Advertisers (ANA, which represents brand marketers in the US) and published in June this year.</p><p>K2 interviewed 150 sources, of which 117 were directly involved in the <keyword id="6354777" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Media">media</keyword> buying business. The resulting report, which did not reveal names of advertising agencies or sources, claimed <a href="http://uk.businessinsider.com/ana-report-alleges-widespread-ad-agency-kickback-schemes-2016-6">rebates and other non-transparent business practices were "pervasive" in the US media ad buying ecosystem.</a></p><p>K2 alleged it had uncovered "substantial evidence" of non-transparent activity including agencies taking rebates from media owners and not disclosing them to clients, agencies buying media space ahead of time and selling it back to clients at a higher cost with no added value, and agencies feeling pressure to direct client spend toward media owners in which their holding company has an investment.</p><p><a href="http://uk.businessinsider.com/ana-report-alleges-widespread-ad-agency-kickback-schemes-2016-6?r=US&amp;IR=T">The ANA report was condemned by all of the big advertising agency holding groups</a>, which questioned the motives of the report's authors (the suggestion being that K2 stood to win more business the more incendiary the report). Agency groups denied wrongdoing and criticized the methodology, arguing that the anonymous nature of the report caused damage to the reputation of the entire industry by tarring everyone with the same brush.</p><p>The Wall Street Journal suggests that K2's subpoena refers to a section of the report about bid rigging related to production agency contracts, which was in the first draft of the report but was removed from the final edit as the ANA wanted it to focus just on the media-buying side of the business.</p><p>But sources have suggested to Business Insider that the subpoenas could lead the DoJ to extend its probe into the media-buying landscape too. It's likely some of the people K2 interviewed about production contracts also offered information about how the US media market works. Those interviews could work their way into the hands of Meiklejohn, who can offer whistleblowers protection from prosecution if they agree to cooperate with her.</p><p>A spokesman for the DoJ told Business Insider: "As a matter of policy, the U.S. Department of Justice does not confirm or deny whether a matter is under investigation."</p><p>K2 declined to comment. Of course, there are many different routes one can take to make that dream a reality. Do you want to play for a Hall of Fame coach? <br /><br />Are stellar facilities a must-have? Will a deep NCAA tournament run get you the exposure you need? As you can see, there are a number of factors players need to take into account before selecting where they'll play collegiate ball.</p>
<p>To try and help determine which college program pumps out the most NBA-ready players, we decided to run some numbers using one always-important statistic - salary. Below, you'll find the top 20 schools whose alumni currently make the most money in the league for 2013-2014, according to ESPN's data. You may not be surprised to see which school is sitting at No. 1.</p>
<p><strong>20. LSU: $23,534,293 - 5 players</strong></p>
<p dir="ltr">The Tigers don't boast any true NBA superstars at the moment, but they do have a number of solid veterans who will combine to make over $23 million this season. Kings guard Marcus Thornton leads the way, making just over $8 million this season, followed by serviceable power forwards Brandon Bass and Glen Davis. Anthony Randolph and Garrett Temple round out LSU's list.</p>
<p dir="ltr"><strong>19. Arkansas: $24,326,342 - 4 players</strong></p>
<p dir="ltr">Sometimes it only takes one, and in Arkansas' case, that 'one' is Brooklyn Net Joe Johnson, who's albatross of a contract made him considered one of the most untradeable players in the NBA-until Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov decided that he really wanted to win, and acquired Johnson from the Atlanta Hawks. Johnson makes $21,466,718 this season, while the other three Razorbacks on this list - Ronnie Brewer, Patrick Beverley, and Jannero Pargo - make under $3 million combined.</p>
<p dir="ltr"><strong>18. Michigan State: $26,265,990 - 4 players</strong></p>
<p dir="ltr">Zach Randolph is the only legitimate superstar Spartan still in the NBA, and the salaries show that: he pulled in over $18 million for his post presence. Once-high-flying guard Jason Richardson is still cashing in over $6 million this season, while Alan Anderson and Draymond Green are making just under $1 million each.</p>
<p dir="ltr"><strong>17. Stanford: $26,848,167 - 3 players</strong></p>
<p dir="ltr">The bulk of Stanford's paychecks come from one family; star Nets center Brook Lopez had a break-out season last year and will make $14,693,906 for his efforts, while his brother Robin will haul in just under $6 million himself as a Portland Trail Blazer. Guard Landry Fields adds just over $6 million of his own to the total.</p>
<p dir="ltr"><strong>16. Syracuse: $28,368,406 - 4 players</strong></p>
<p dir="ltr">Carmelo Anthony accounts for most of this total with his $21 million salary, while young guards Dion Waiters ($3.8 million) and Michael Carter-Williams ($2.2 million) come up after Melo. Waiters' future with the Cavaliers is uncertain, though he will have a spot in the NBA for a while, but MCW should help Syracuse shoot up this list in the next few years. The Rookie of the Year favorite exploded onto the scene for the Sixers this season, and they will want to lock him up with a new contract sooner rather than later.</p>
<p dir="ltr"><strong>15. USC: $28,382,974 - 6 players</strong></p>
<p dir="ltr">Most don't think of USC as a program that churns out many big NBA stars, but the Trojans have three players making pretty good money in DeMar DeRozan ($9.5 million), O.J. Mayo ($8 million), and Taj Gibson ($7.5 million). Many viewed DeRozan's contract as a bad one for the Raptors, but he has become the team's leading scorer, and they are currently well in the playoff hunt. Outside of these three, Nikola Vucevic is in line to get a solid second NBA deal. The young forward averages 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Magic at just $1.8 million this season.</p>
<p dir="ltr"><strong>14. Memphis: $31,675,971 - 5 players</strong></p>
<p dir="ltr">Memphis produced two of the more explosive (when healthy) guards in the NBA in former MVP Derrick Rose and current New Orleans Pelican Tyreke Evans. Rose is pulling in $17.6 million from the Chicago Bulls, although I'm sure they would pony up a few more million if it meant that Rose could stay on the court for a full season. Evans makes $11.8 million as one of the Pelicans strong guard trio. Elliot Williams, Will Barton, and Chris Douglas-Roberts each make under a million to add a bit to Memphis' total.</p>
<p dir="ltr"><strong>13. Marquette: $31,900,232 - 6 players</strong></p>
<p dir="ltr">The Golden Eagles' combined salaries are heavily propped up by Dwyane Wade's $18.7 million, but Wesley Matthews ($6.9 million) and Steve Novak ($3.75 million) each contribute as well. The player to watch out for is Jimmy Butler, who broke out during last year's playoffs as a capable offensive threat and elite perimeter defender. He's only pulling in $1.1 million this season, but is in line for a big second contract.</p>
<p dir="ltr"><strong>12. Georgetown: $32,610,774 - 6 players</strong></p>
<p dir="ltr">Roy Hibbert's breakout for the Indiana Pacers has done wonders for the Hoya bottom line. As one of the best pure centers in the NBA, Hibbert will make just under $14.3 million in 2013-14. Forwards Jeff Green nets $8.7 million this year, while Otto Porter, and Greg Monroe are each at just over $4 million, although Monroe should be seeing an extension soon, or he may test free agency in the off-season.</p>
<p dir="ltr"><strong>11. Wake Forest: $42,365,552 - 6 players</strong></p>
<p dir="ltr">Wake Forest basketball has been down for a few years, but the Demon Deacons still claim two of the NBA's top players and probable future Hall of Famers as their own. Chris Paul is widely considered the best point guard in the NBA and is paid like it, hauling in over $18.6 million this season. Tim Duncan is still an All-Star level power forward, but he has taken modest contracts in order to help the San Antonio Spurs build around him. The Big Fundamental will bring in over $10.3 million this season. Atlanta Hawks point guard Jeff Teague has been surprisingly steady this year, and makes $8 million for his efforts. Al-Farouq Aminu ($3.75 million), Ish Smith ($950,000), and James Johnson ($634,000) round out Wake's list.</p>
<p><strong>10. Texas: $43,109,367 - 8 players</strong></p>
<p>Superstars Kevin Durant and LaMarcus Aldridge account for over $32 million of Texas' $43 million in salary, and for good reason. The Thunder and Trail Blazers are tied for second place in the NBA's Western Conference with 28-9 records, largely because of their contributions. While the Longhorns haven't made a Final Four run since 2002-2003, they have consistently churned out decent NBA talent.</p>
<p><strong>9. Georgia Tech: $46,237,403 - 8 players</strong></p>
<p dir="ltr">Yep, the same Georgia Tech program that's only reached the NCAAs three times since its title game run in 2004. Miami's Chris Bosh makes over $19 million, despite taking a lower salary to join the Heat. Thaddeus Young, Jarrett Jack and Derrick Favors all make at least $6 million. The Yellow Jackets surprisingly check in as the No. 3 ACC team on our list.</p>
<p><strong>8. Kansas: $46,758,883 - 14 players</strong></p>
<p>While Kansas has churned out a high number of NBA players, all but one - Paul Pierce - make less than $5 million. And Pierce's deal, which pays him just over $15 million this year, expires at the end of the season. While it's fair to assume that freshman superstar Andrew Wiggins, should he leave the Jayhawks after one year, will make a good chunk of change, it probably won't stop the program from free falling on this list next year. The number of NBA role players who attended KU (Hinrich, Chalmers, Rush, Robinson, Collison, Henry) is astounding.</p>
<p><strong>7. Arizona: $53,838,585 - 9 players</strong></p>
<p>The Wildcats' top four players in salary - Andre Iguodala, Richard Jefferson, Channing Frye, and Jason Terry - are all veterans who most likely won't get big contracts in the future. Derrick Williams, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, needed a change of scenery from Minnesota to Sacramento to get more playing time and show what he can do. Still, the lack of rising stars means that Zona will probably move down this list in the future, too.</p>
<p><strong>6. North Carolina: $53,948,533 - 16 players</strong></p>
<p>The Tar Heels have 16 players in the NBA, second to only Kentucky. Denver's Ty Lawson is actually the main breadwinner, checking in at just under $11 million this year. Next up are Marvin Williams, Brandan Wright, Danny Green and Raymond Felton. Like Kansas, UNC has a crazy-high number of role players in the NBA, along with a few aging superstars (Vince Carter, Antawn Jamison). While the sheer number of players should keep the Heels on this list for quite some time, they won't be challenging for the top spot any time soon.</p>
<p><strong>5. Florida: $60,873,433 - 12 players</strong></p>
<p>Florida's back-to-back NCAA titles in the mid-2000s produced three of the top four Gators, salary wise, currently playing in the NBA today. Al Horford and Joakim Noah both make over $11 million, while Corey Brewer checks in at $5 million. David Lee, who played at UF just a few years before those tournament runs, comes in at just under $14 million. One player to watch is 20-year-old Bradley Beal, who could be playing himself into a nice little contract with the Washington Wizards in the future.</p>
<p><strong>4. Duke: $67,081,620 - 14 players</strong></p>
<p>Last year, <a href="http://collegespun.com/acc/syracuse/the-15-colleges-whose-alumni-made-the-most-money-in-the-nba-this-year">Duke actually topped this list.</a> Why the drop? Corey Maggette (and his contract) retired, dropping the overall total over $10 million for the Blue Devils. Carlos Boozer and Luol Deng still make $15 million and $14 million, respectively, but one has to imagine that neither will get another huge deal in their career. 21-year-old superstar Kyrie Irving, on the other hand, has huge potential to land a max contract after his rookie deal expires. Whether he'll leave Cleveland, though, is a debate for another time.</p>
<p><strong>3. UCLA: $68,606,959 - 12 players</strong></p>
<p>Simply put, UCLA has produced two of the best young superstars in the NBA - Kevin Love and Russell Westbrook. Jrue Holiday, Arron Afflalo and Trevor Ariza have also turned into solid players who make between $7 million and $10 million per year. Rookie Shabazz Muhammad has had a tough time finding minutes for the Timberwolves, despite being drafted in the middle of the first round. The Bruins haven't churned much out in the past few years, but what they produced in the mid-to-late 2000s should keep their presence felt in the league for years to come.</p>
<p><strong>2. Connecticut: $75,530,794 - 12 players</strong></p>
<p>The Huskies have a very nice mix of older/younger NBA talent. While veterans like Rudy Gay, Emeka Okafor and Ben Gordon currently pull in the most cash, budding stars like Kemba Walker, Andre Drummond and Jeremy Lamb are poised for higher-paying contracts in the near future. Just like last year, UConn was within $2 million of taking the top overall spot, which you guessed it, belongs to:</p>
<p><strong>1. Kentucky: $77,324,323 - 21 players</strong></p>
<p>The program that everyone loves to hate, led by the coach that everyone loves to hate, actually produces the most NBA players. But it's not just the Coach Cal era - four of the top six paid former Wildcats - Rajon Rondo, Tayshaun Prince, Chuck Hayes and Keith Bogans - played well before he came to town. Even when those contracts expire, UK has another crop of rising stars. John Wall, Anthony Davis, DeMarcus Cousins and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist will all make substantially more money in a few years than they do now. It's entirely possible that Kentucky retains this spot for the next three, four, maybe even five years.</p>
