It will go really, really long way."Toothacre said that she's had hiring managers tell her they got cut off while driving in by the candidate they were supposed to be interviewing later."I would hope that everybody would be kind and nice in general, but sometimes our head is in a different place so we have to make the extra effort," she added.<h2 id="89dc620f-a666-4883-8d18-564479160a01">Sitting before your interviewer sits down</h2>Once you're in the room, Lee said it's always a good idea to wait to sit down. "The interviewer sits first, and then you sit, or they start sitting, and then you'll sit," said Lee.This is both good manners and makes sure you don't both reach for the same seat, which could throw you off balance at the beginning of the interview, especially if you're already nervous."Manners are very important, and it's a small thing but it won't hurt."<h2 id="9bbe3623-dc4b-4d74-95c5-1a5046974afc">Using your phone to take notes</h2>Toothacre said it's good to have a pad of paper and a pen with you to take notes or work things out during the interview. "If you don't have anything, that is a signal to them that you're not necessarily taking the interview seriously."However, taking notes on your phone would be an even more serious error."Especially with the rise of ChatGPT, I've heard a lot of feedback from hiring teams — especially for technical roles like software engineering — that they never know if a candidate's work is fully theirs," said Lee, whose company specializes in prepping candidates for tech and finance jobs."In that context, doing your work on or taking notes on your phone could potentially come off as you cheating."If you absolutely have to use technology, Toothacre suggests using an iPad instead of a phone.<h2 id="36a8706c-997e-4551-a5e5-fcf06fe18368">Getting their extra-early</h2>Early birds tend to get the worm, but showing up earlier than 10-15 minutes before your scheduled time could work against you."Being too early could even inconvenience the team, especially if they staggered interviews on purpose," said Lee.Toothacre added that the 10-15-minute window shouldn't include time spent getting through security or finding the right room."If you have accessibility requirements, make sure to communicate with your recruiter beforehand about the building's access points so you don't lose time on the day."If you arrive early because you live far away from the interview site, Lee suggests taking walks outside to calm your nervous system down a bit before heading in.<h2 id="016f1a1d-8ea8-42b9-9b39-f0abbee3a846">Piling on the perfume</h2>You definitely want to smell good when meeting with prospective employers in person, but overpowering perfume could be a turn-off."Perfume is a really fine line," said Toothacre. While much of that data is stored in the cloud, company leaders might not always know exactly where it is, who all has access to it, or how secure it truly is.Dan Benjamin, the senior director of product management at Prisma Cloud, a cloud-security platform made by Palo Alto Networks, said that incorporating data-security posture management into cybersecurity strategies could help solve many of these problems.He described DSPM as a set of cybersecurity technologies that can help companies "discover, understand, and protect their data." This is crucial, as an IBM report published in 2023 estimated that <a target="_blank" href="https://www.ibm.com/topics/data-security-posture-management">82% of data breaches</a> involved data stored in the cloud.Clouds and the data they contain are vulnerable for several reasons. For one thing, Benjamin said, "the sheer amount of data in the cloud is larger than the amount of data that's on-premises," or <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/artificial-intelligence-data-privacy-on-premises-information-technology-solutions-2024-8">stored on a company's own hardware</a>. How is it being used? And how is it being protected?"Hayun said the software continuously identifies where a company's data resides and classifies it based on its sensitivity level, such as personally identifiable information or intellectual property. It then analyzes the controls around the data, including <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/how-to-respond-to-ransomware-attack">who has access to it and how secure it is</a>; identifies vulnerabilities; and recommends ways to address a problem.Julie Madhusoodanan, the head of cybersecurity at LinkedIn, described DSPM as a combination of risk identification, reporting, and mitigation."Think of it as having a security guard who regularly checks where your data is stored, who has access to it, and how it's being used," she said.If something looks off — for example, sensitive information is being stored in the wrong place, or someone has access to data they shouldn't have — DSPM software can alert a company's security or information-technology teams to resolve the issue "before something bad happens," Madhusoodanan said.Other cybersecurity solutions focus on securing devices or systems that house or process data and often identify vulnerabilities and risks after they happen. Madhusoodanan said DSPM is designed to protect the data itself and "can proactively block risks from being inserted into the system in the first place."<h2 id="38f8e7b1-fe20-45f3-ac0f-8e4e65aafba3">Why DSPM is a beneficial security measure</h2>Any organization that collects, maintains, and processes data — no matter its size or industry — is <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/what-to-know-about-sec-cybersecurity-rules-and-guidance">at risk of a breach</a>, Madhusoodanan said. Investing in DSPM, she added, can help "give organizations a clearer picture of the risk their business is carrying," manage that risk, and heighten security.For example, LinkedIn uses DSPM to assess threats and plan mitigation strategies. Madhusoodanan said the technology had improved the company's response time and accuracy in addressing vulnerabilities.Benjamin gave an example of a financial company he worked with: It used DSPM and discovered that some financial reports were being copied to a cloud that <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/how-companies-can-respond-to-cybersecurity-risks-after-layoffs-2024-9">belonged to a former employee</a>. The tool identified the issue so the company could secure the data.Benjamin said DSPM could also reduce the likelihood and impact of a data breach. Breaches can cost a company millions of dollars, damage its reputation, interfere with operations, and cause compliance problems if sensitive data is compromised.Hayun said DSPM could ensure that companies don't take unnecessary risks with data and make them feel more secure in scaling up their data programs, enabling them to grow their business.Benjamin said that while DSPM could benefit most companies, the technology is especially advantageous for those in regulated industries, such as finance or health, or with a lot of customer data.<h2 id="087ddab0-b09f-4ff6-b341-21bcf3c50adf">Some companies face challenges implementing DSPM</h2>Companies implementing DSPM tech can struggle with hiring the appropriate staff, lacking internal resources, selecting a DSPM vendor or tool, and getting executive buy-in, according to a <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://normalyze.ai/company/from-reactive-to-proactive-dspms-transformative-role-in-data-security/">report from Normalyze</a>, a DSPM provider.Madhusoodanan said that DSPM strategies can't be implemented in silos and that stakeholder buy-in is critical. "This is where leaders face the biggest friction and why fostering a security-centric culture is key to getting leaders on board," she said.She added that it's essential to ensure everyone across an organization understands and is focused on the company's data-protection strategies so that the organization can make accurate risk-mitigation decisions.Hayun said DSPM enabled organizations to use data effectively and securely — and in compliance with regulatory bodies."They can build guardrails around how the data is used and allow their teams to run within those guardrails without concern," she said.

The new laws introduce community service for minor offences in order to promote personal growth and social responsibility of an individual. Under community service, the offenders get the chance to positively contribute to society, learn from their mistakes and build stronger community bonds. Under the new laws, the fines imposed for certain crimes have been aligned with the severity of the offences, ensuring fair and proportional punishment, deterring future offences and maintaining public trust in the legal system. The legal processes have been simplified to make them easier to understand and follow, ensuring fair and accessible justice. The new laws promise a faster and fair resolution of cases, instilling confidence in the legal system. The legislations were considered and passed by Parliament in its winter session in 2023. <ul class="summary-list"><li>China's new amphibious assault ship is massive, unusual, and a bit of a mystery.</li><li>It's a noteworthy addition to the Chinese navy, seemingly capable of fulfilling various purposes and missions.</li></ul>China's shipbuilding industry has been hard at work on a new class of amphibious assault ships, building the first ship of the class at an astonishingly quick pace.But the purpose of the large, advanced Type 076 warship may serve is still something of a mystery. In fact, there are still plenty of unknowns surrounding this unusual vessel.Satellite images, provided to Business Insider by the Center of Strategic and International Studies, show <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://x.com/BrianTHart/status/1819123294924148894">shipbuilding progress on the Type 76 amphibious assault ship</a>, also known as the Yulan-class, in Shanghai's Changxing Island Shipbuilding Base. The images, dated July 4, capture a variety of details about the vessel.Compared to its Type 075, Yushen-class predecessor, there appear to be a number of notable differences. Perhaps most apparent is the size. The Type 076 is much longer and larger than the Type 075, and when it is completed, it will be the largest amphibious assault ship in the world, easily exceeding its US and Japanese counterparts, according to a <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.csis.org/analysis/chinas-massive-next-generation-amphibious-assault-ship-takes-shape">CSIS analysis of the new vessel</a>.<div type="image" title="A satellite image showing China's new amphibious assault ship being built in a shipyard. There is a text overlay showing the length of the trench for launching aircraft." height="2250" width="4000" msid="112590850" hostid="261" sizebytes="366418"></div>The benefits of a larger warship include a potential capacity for more aircraft, more space to host a variety of personnel aboard, and internal storage space for other assets.But perhaps the aspect of the Type 076 that stands out most is that it appears to feature a catapult launching system for fixed-wing aircraft, technology also featured on China's <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/chinas-newest-aircraft-carrier-seen-with-aircraft-mock-ups-images-2024-4">new CNS Fujian aircraft carrier</a>, which features an electromagnetic aircraft launch system like the newest US aircraft carriers, the Ford-class ships."This is not something that we've seen before," Matthew Funaiole, a senior fellow with the China Power Project at CSIS, told Business Insider. "No other country has an LHA that has a catapult system on it," he said, referring to a landing helicopter assault ship. But it remains unclear what types of combat jets China would launch off the Type 076 or if those aircraft would be manned at all.With the Fujian, China made a technological leap from the ski-jump-style aircraft launch systems of its earlier carriers to advanced electromagnetic catapults, <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/chinas-new-aircraft-carrier-more-to-learn-to-match-us-2024-5">completely skipping over steam-powered catapults</a> in the process.<div type="image" title="A J-15 fighter taking off from aircraft carrier Shandong" height="4340" width="6509" msid="112590859" hostid="261" sizebytes="671206"></div>China could use the catapult system, as experts and top China watchers have suggested, to launch unmanned aerial vehicles. But if it can, despite operational and technological constraints, launch manned aircraft, that would make the Type 76 almost a hybrid, mini-carrier of sorts, filling an unusual role. The catapults, wide flight deck, and clear runway would support that, though it's not easy.Bryan Clark, a former US Navy officer and defense expert at the Hudson Institute, explained that China likely wants the capability to launch long-endurance unmanned aerial vehicles, and the new catapult is a "creative" way to do so for some of its drones.China's military operates a variety of strike and reconnaissance drones, and years ago, as CSIS notes in its analysis, photos surfaced of what looked like drones on a catapult test track. And at the Changxing facility, apparent unmanned aerial vehicle mock-ups have been seen at a testing facility, though the purpose and intent is unclear. Per Funaiole, it's most likely that the biggest role of the Type 76, at least initially, will be better integration with regard to how China uses its UAVs with naval operations.But as important as its capabilities is just how fast the Type 076 was built."I think it is as important, if not more important, to emphasize how mind-bogglingly impressive China's ability to build ships is," Funaiole said, noting that while the exact timeline of its construction is unclear, China started building the 076, likely prioritizing it, while finishing the new dry dock it was in.It's just a small example of the <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/biggest-us-navy-shipbuilding-projects-are-delayed-by-years-2024-4">capacity and size of China's shipbuilding power</a>. The big takeaway from the Type 076's building, Clark said, is it shows how once China's "got a hot production line" and is "able to leverage commercial shipbuilding capacity essentially for military ship construction," it "can build ships, like a Type 076, pretty quickly."<div type="image" title="A satellite image shows China's new amphibious assault ship being built alongside other vessels." height="2250" width="4000" msid="112590855" hostid="261" sizebytes="592650"></div>Despite how unusual the Type 76 appears to be, the US certainly could've accomplished a vessel of this nature, Funaiole said.But the US has "leaned quite heavily and rightfully so on supercarriers," Funaiole said, which are inherently versatile, carry a variety of aircraft, and can conduct a diverse range of missions.The US also has America-class and Wasp-class <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/us-assault-ship-rushed-red-sea-fight-meant-cruisers-destroyers-2024-5">amphibious assault ships</a> for other types of missions. "There might not necessarily be a need for this kind of platform" in the US Navy, he added.There are questions about the role of the Type 076 in a conflict scenario. It could, for instance, play a part in an invasion or blockade of Taiwan, or support the use of drones and helicopters for surveillance, anti-submarine warfare, and other reconnaissance.But according to Clark, the Type 076 is most likely more aligned with China's goal of becoming a blue water Navy, capable of power projection far from its own shores. Perhaps that flexibility is exactly what China wants — a ship that could complete a variety of missions and function as <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/why-china-wants-to-build-aircraft-carriers-2024-6">a key addition to its growing naval power</a>.
