New Delhi, Online food delivery platform <keyword id="6358977" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Swiggy" source="Orion">Swiggy</keyword> on Tuesday said it has facilitated over Rs 450 crore in loan disbursal to more than 8,000 restaurant owners as part of its capital assist programme. Launched in 2017, the capital assist programme is a first-in-the-segment solution designed to bridge the financing gap and empower restaurant owners. Over 8,000 restaurants have availed loans so far, of which 3,000 availed loans in 2022 alone, the company said in a statement. Partnering with multiple lending partners, including Indifi, Incred, FT Cash, PayU Finance, and IIFL, Swiggy offers tailored financial solutions like term loans and credit lines. "The NBFCs will soon facilitate more exciting solutions like pre-approved loans to enable our partners to gain easier and quicker access to capital, driving even more growth for their businesses," said Swapnil Bajpai, VP-Supply, Swiggy. From quick sign-ups to even quicker approvals, through capital assist programme, the NBFCs take a fast, easy, and efficient approach to provide funds for restaurant partner's business needs. "We have done three rounds of financing so far and have used these funds for our working capital requirements. The entire process from the application to receiving funds is incredibly quick, efficient, and transparent," said Aarti and Sumit Rastogi, owners of ARTINCI -- Indulge Guilt Free! in Bengaluru.

Swiggy disburses over Rs 450 cr in loans to 8000 restaurant owners

Online food delivery platform <keyword id="6358977" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="swiggy" source="Orion">Swiggy</keyword> has started charging all users a "platform fee" of Rs 2 per food order, irrespective of the cart value. The company told IANS that the additional charges are being levied only on food orders on the main platform and does not apply on Instamart users. "The platform fee is a nominal flat fee charged on food orders. This fee helps us operate and improve our platform and enhance app features to deliver a seamless app experience," a Swiggy spokesperson said in a statement. The platform fee is over and above the convenience and handling fees for food delivery. As last reported, Swiggy claimed to have processed over 1.5-2 million orders through the day. People in Hyderabad ordered a whopping 10 lakh biryanis and 4 lakh plates of haleem on leading food-delivery platform Swiggy during the holy month of Ramzan. In March, the online food delivery platform said it delivered 33 million plates of idlis in the last 12 months, indicating the immense popularity of this dish among customers. Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai were the top three cities where idlis were ordered the most. The company, on average, has over 2.5 lakh restaurant partners enabled on its platform, and typically onboards about 10,000 restaurants every month. Swiggy begins charging Rs 2 'platform fee' per food order from users

<ul><li>Indian Hotels, the operator of Taj Hotels, launched its food delivery platform Qmin at the peak of the pandemic.</li><li>Born out of adversity, this start-up has been profitable since day one in the industry dominated by <keyword id="830092" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="zomato" source="Orion">Zomato</keyword> and <keyword id="6358977" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="swiggy" source="Orion">Swiggy</keyword>.</li><li>Jehangir Press, associate VP, strategic accounts management group and commercial director, Qmin at IHCL speaks to Business Insider India about Taj’s value chain, growth story, journey so far and revenue goals for FY23.</li></ul>Indian Hotels, the operator of Taj Hotels, launched its food delivery platform Qmin two years ago. At the height of the pandemic, instead of outsourcing the Taj Hotel Group’s delivery services to existing platforms, the Tata Group launched its own in-house platform in Qmin. In the last two years, Qmin has generated revenues to the tune of ₹100 crore. This year alone, it hopes to clock in revenues to the tune of ₹80 crore. “We are possibly the only food delivery platform that has been profitable from day one because we have found the right balance of using our existing resources,” Jehangir Press, associate VP, strategic accounts management group and commercial director, Qmin at IHCL, told Business Insider India. The 90-minute delivery service Zomato and its rival Swiggy together hold <a href="https://theprint.in/theprint-essential/are-zomato-swiggy-helping-restaurant-business-or-hurting-it-why-cci-has-ordered-a-probe/905581/">90-95%</a> market share in India’s food delivery business, but also burning cash. In the quarter ending March 2022, Zomato posted a <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/stock-market/news/zomato-posted-a-1222-crore-loss-but-its-stock-gained-18-reasons-behind-the-surge/articleshow/91766080.cms">net loss</a> of ₹1,222 crore, which widened by ₹400 crore since last year. With Qmin, the Tata Group could move away from having to depend on the likes of Zomato or Swiggy for deliveries. Qmin also gave the group complete control over the entire value chain from food preparation to delivery. “We have 100% control – over the value chain and with that, you are in control of the safety, hygiene, and health of everything that you're sending out. Also, we obviously cannot compromise on hygiene and safety. We took a call and even though it costs us substantially more, we went with the complete ecosystem,” said Press. Unlike its competitors that have been focusing on chopping their delivery time from 30 minutes to 10 minutes, Qmin says it has prioritized safety, security, hygiene, sustainability and delivering a luxurious experience. Qmin takes up to 90 minutes to deliver its orders. Its menu starts from ₹200 onwards and Qmin’s family feast widget and Fiama pizzas are the most ordered meals on the app. <div type="image" title="Qmin Packaging image" msid="93520889" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Qmin&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> It has delivered over a million meals to consumers so far and donated over 57,000 meals to flood-affected areas of Assam. From luxury food delivery to gourmet dining cafes While it started off as a gourmet food delivery service, Qmin has expanded into different food categories with the launch of its food truck, gourmet eatery shops and Qmin quick service restaurant (QSR). Our truck business will also grow, (but) not at the same pace. The shops are where we see the major growth,” said Press. Qmin is also looking at expanding its presence across borders, starting with the UK, US and UAE markets. While delivery and retail shops contribute almost equally to Qmin’s overall sales, Press is confident that retail shops will contribute a lion’s share of the revenue in the near future.

As per the year-end reports of two such e-commerce platforms – <keyword id="6358977" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="swiggy" source="Orion">Swiggy</keyword> Instamart and BigBasket, one state – Karnataka topped the charts when it comes to bringing ‘groceries’ home. As per Swiggy, its most prolific user was from Bengaluru – who spent over ₹16.6 lakhs buying groceries and essentials in 2022. The second most popular grocery item was milk according to Swiggy Instamart. A user from Gurgaon ordered the most – a whopping 1,542 times in 11 months. His go-to items were instant noodles and full-fat milk. The same trends were picked up by grocery delivery platform BigBasket, reporting that Wednesdays is when milk was ordered the most on the app. When it comes to what people need the most and can’t always go shopping personally — the winner is diapers as per BigBasket — which sold 3.97 lakh diapers this year. The green garnishing in red gravies The aroma of the Indian kitchens goes unfulfilled without some dhaniya (coriander) and tomato. An estimated 400 kilos of dhaniya was sold on BigBasket, and tomato was the most sought-after vegetable on the app. Mirroring the sentiment was Swiggy Instamart – onions, potatoes, tomatoes, watermelons, bananas, and tender coconut were the most ordered fruit and vegetables on the platform. Healthy, organic food see uptake, too There is enough interest in healthier, organic food on the apps too. “Users ordered over 5 million kilograms of organic fruits and vegetables with the healthiest eaters hailing from Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad, <keyword id="2094" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="pune" source="Orion">Pune</keyword>, and Delhi,” Swiggy said in a statement. An estimated 1.7 million kilograms of exotic fruits such as Dragon Fruit, Pomelo, Berries, and Wood Apples were also sold on Instamart, the report claims.
