New Delhi, Online food delivery platform <keyword id="6358977" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Swiggy" source="Orion">Swiggy</keyword> on Tuesday said it has facilitated over Rs 450 crore in loan disbursal to more than 8,000 restaurant owners as part of its capital assist programme. Launched in 2017, the capital assist programme is a first-in-the-segment solution designed to bridge the financing gap and empower restaurant owners. Over 8,000 restaurants have availed loans so far, of which 3,000 availed loans in 2022 alone, the company said in a statement. Partnering with multiple lending partners, including Indifi, Incred, FT Cash, PayU Finance, and IIFL, Swiggy offers tailored financial solutions like term loans and credit lines. "The NBFCs will soon facilitate more exciting solutions like pre-approved loans to enable our partners to gain easier and quicker access to capital, driving even more growth for their businesses," said Swapnil Bajpai, VP-Supply, Swiggy. From quick sign-ups to even quicker approvals, through capital assist programme, the NBFCs take a fast, easy, and efficient approach to provide funds for restaurant partner's business needs. "We have done three rounds of financing so far and have used these funds for our working capital requirements. "Along with a host of existing payment options offered to consumers, Swiggy Money will ensure seamless and swift transactions on food orders by minimising hassles such as lengthy payment procedures or payment failures resulting in improved customer experience," said Anand Agrawal, VP Products, Swiggy. If the Swiggy customer is an existing ICICI Bank customer, he or she can instantly start using the wallet. Non-ICICI Bank customers can also start using this immediately by providing details of a government ID to ICICI Bank. 'Swiggy Money' users will further be able to top-up their wallet using various banking instruments and enjoy single click purchase without multiple authentications. In cases where the order value exceeds the wallet balance, the users will be provided with a 'split-pay' option which will enable making payment through a combination of money from their wallet and another payment source/instruments to complete the transaction. "This is our third offering, jointly with Swiggy. A year ago, we had customised an industry-first UPI led payment solution for Swiggy's delivery partners to transfer funds. Online food delivery platform <keyword id="6358977" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="swiggy" source="Orion">Swiggy</keyword>'s losses doubled to ₹3,629 crore in FY22 compared to ₹1,617 crore in the last fiscal year. Total expenses went up 131% to ₹9,574.5 crore in FY22. According to its annual financial statement with the Registrar of Companies (RoC), during the last quarter of FY22, Swiggy turned "decacorn" (with a valuation of $10 billion and above) after raising a $700 million round led by Invesco. Meanwhile, Swiggy's revenue grew 2.2 times to ₹5,705 crore during FY22 as opposed to ₹2,547 crore in FY21. According to Entrackr, outsourcing support costs accounted for 24.5% of the total expenses of the company. This particular cost increased 2.3 times to ₹2,350 crore in FY22 from ₹1,031 crore in FY21. Its advertising and promotional expenses surged 4 times to reach ₹1,848.7 crore during FY22, according to the report. Reports surfaced last month that Swiggy may lay off more than 250 employees or up to 5% of its workforce starting January. "There have been no layoffs at Swiggy. We concluded our performance cycle in October and have announced ratings and promotions at all levels. As with every cycle, we expect exits based on performance," a Swiggy spokesperson had said in a statement. The upcoming layoffs are likely to impact Swiggy's quick commerce delivery service <keyword id="9728281" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="instamart" source="Orion">Instamart</keyword> to reduce cash burn. The programme, named "<keyword id="13699950" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Step-Ahead" source="Orion">Step-Ahead</keyword>" is aimed at giving an opportunity to those executives who want to move from their current flexible engagement with Swiggy to a dedicated, managerial role, the company said. "Swiggy has consistently maintained that our delivery executives are the backbone of our operations; and we are proud to enable an income opportunity for over 2.7 lakh women and men across the country," said Mihir Rajesh Shah, VP, Operations, Swiggy, in a statement. "While most may consider their association with the platform as a stop gap between jobs or an education, or even an additional source of income, we realise that there are some who want more. With aStep Ahead', Swiggy is creating a unique opportunity for those interested to flip their collar from blue to white and take on a managerial role," he added. To be eligible for the role of a Fleet Manager, a Swiggy delivery executive must hold a college degree, possess communication skills and basic computer knowledge and should have been delivering with Swiggy for a few years. Managing a fleet of delivery executives, the fleet managers, will be responsible for different roles like maintaining metrics like login hours, cancellations, resolving queries, and working on special projects for delivery executives. Being well-versed with the challenges and opportunities at a ground level owing to their rich experience in delivery, seasoned delivery executives are a natural fit. Over the years, numerous Swiggy delivery executives have joined the platform as fleet managers. With 'Step Ahead', Swiggy is formalising this process and intends to reserve at least 20 per cent of all Fleet Manager hires for its delivery executives. Swiggy is also considering reducing the tenure requirement to around two years. Swiggy currently has over 2.7 lakh delivery partners across the country.
