New Delhi, Maruti Suzuki India on Friday said it is recalling 7,213 units of its Baleno RS model due to a suspected defect in vacuum pump, which assists brake function. The recall will impact vehicles manufactured between October 27, 2016 and November 1, 2019, Maruti Suzuki India said in a regulatory filing. "It is suspected that there is a possible defect in vacuum pump, which assists the brake function. In a rare case, the affected vehicle may require increased effort in brake pedal application," it said. Affected vehicle owners will be receiving communication from Maruti Suzuki authorised dealer workshops for replacement of the defective parts, free of cost, the company said. In a post on its website, Maruti Suzuki India also said it would be undertaking a service campaign for 676 vehicles of Ertiga and XL6 model manufactured between June 24, 2022 and July 7, 2022 for suspected issue in front driveshaft, which in a rare case may generate a peculiar noise while turning the vehicle but does not impact the functioning. In January this year, the company had recalled 17,362 units of models Alto K10, S-Presso, Eeco, Brezza, Baleno and Grand Vitara to replace faulty airbag controller. The affected were manufactured between December 8, 2022 and January 12, 2023.

Maruti Suzuki to recall 9,925 Wagon R, Celerio & Ignis cars to rectify rear brake defect

New Delhi, The country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) on Monday said it is recalling 87,599 units of S-Presso and Eeco models to check and replace faulty steering tie rod. The recalled units were manufactured between July 5, 2021 and February 15, 2023, the auto major said in a statement. "It is suspected that there is a possible defect in a part of steering tie rod, used in such vehicles, which in a rare case, may break and affect vehicle steerability and handling," it noted. Affected vehicle owners will be receiving communication from the company-authorised dealer workshops for inspection and replacement of the faulty part, free of cost, Maruti Suzuki stated. The recall is effective from July 24, 2023, 06:30 pm onwards, it said. It is one of the largest recalls being undertaken by the company in recent times. In September 2021, MSI had recalled 1,81,754 units of petrol trims of various models, including Ciaz, Vitara Brezza and XL6, to replace faulty motor generator unit. In July 2020, the automaker recalled 1,34,885 units of WagonR and Baleno models to inspect and replace faulty fuel pumps. Similarly, in December 2019, the company had announced that it is recalling 63,493 units of petrol smart hybrid (SHVS) variants of Ciaz, Ertiga and XL6 models to rectify faulty motor generator unit (MGU). Maruti Suzuki recalls 17,362 units to fix faulty airbag controller

<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Tata+Motors">Tata Motors</a> has renamed its new Zica to Tiago. The <keyword id="43820" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Hatchback">hatchback</keyword>’s initial name was a combination of ‘zippy’ and ‘car’. 
 
The name ‘Tiago’ is a Portuguese boy’s name that was selected from over 37,000 entries the company received though it’s global SMS contest and social media requests over three days. It offered the car to the winner of the contest. The global auto maker will now register the car’s brand name and launch it in India by the end of March.

The question remains, why would anyone take that trouble?! Tata already showcased the car with the Zica brand name at the Auto Expo 2016 in New Delhi. The public didn’t have to vote for that one!

The launch of the Zica unfortunately coincided with an outbreak of a mosquito-borne virus with a similar sounding name: Zika. It has affected over 20 countries and has been linked to severe birth defects, including microcephaly that results in babies with abnormally small heads. The <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=World+Health+Organization">World Health Organization</a> (WHO) declared the Zika outbreak to as a global health emergency. That spelled doom for <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Tata+Motors">Tata</a>’s cute hatchback. 
 
Days before the Auto Expo, the company announced it would drop the Zica name in solidarity with the people affected by the deadly virus, even though Jaguar had already been promoting the Zica for more than two months. That’s when they started inviting the public to propose names.

<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Tata+Motors">Tata Motors</a> has its fingers crossed this car, the first of a new family of passenger vehicles, will plug its slipping passenger vehicle sales numbers in India. Maruti Suzuki continues to maintain its leadership in the <keyword id="3202565" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Domestic-passenger-vehicle">domestic passenger vehicle</keyword> market with six of its models featuring in the top 10 brands in January. 
 
Upon launch the car will go up against the likes of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Suzuki+Celerio">Suzuki Celerio</a>, Hyundai i20 Elite, and Next Gen Ford Figo.

But the firm still has more hurdles to jump through before it's allowed to sell the phone there.
Japan's brief export boost looks like it's already slowing down. The country saw a rise in outward trade immediately after a recent sales tax hike, but figures out overnight <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/r-japan-exports-hit-by-weak-us-shipments-sap-economic-recovery-2014-9">showed exports down 1.3%</a> in the year to August. And two major Japanese firms had negative announcements overnight. Suzuki will recall 453,000 vehicles because of a defective fan in the air conditioning unit. Toshiba also announced that they would be laying off 900 staff in a restructuring which will see them retreat from some markets. 
Chinese home prices are still falling. <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/r-chinas-house-prices-fall-further-economic-gloom-deepens-2014-9%20">House prices fell for the fourth straight month</a>, adding to concerns about the strength of the massive developing economy. Earlier this week, the People's Bank of China organized an unannounced stimulus for the country's banking sector, in an attempt to offset the slowdown. 
The IMF and World Bank are stepping into the fight against Ebola. The two institutions <a href="http://www.ft.com/cms/s/cd61c030-3e8e-11e4-adef-00144feabdc0,Authorised=false.html?_i_location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ft.com%2Fcms%2Fs%2F0%2Fcd61c030-3e8e-11e4-adef-00144feabdc0.html%3Fsiteedition%3Duk&amp;siteedition=uk&amp;_i_referer=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ft.com%2Fworld">pledged $300m to the worst-hit countries in west Africa</a>. Some of the nations are struggling to finance the expensive quarantine and medical programmes needed to fight the disease.
