Taking in account the prevailing COVID-19 scenario in the state, it has been decided to force lockdown in containment zones till December 31, according to the order issued on Sunday night. The state government has increased the number of districts from 8 to 13, where the night curfew will be imposed from 8 pm to 6 am. Kota, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Udaipur, Ajmer, Alwar, Bhilwara, Nagaur, Pali, Tonk, Sikara and Ganganagar are the districts where the night curfew has been imposed. Uttarakhand: CM Trivendra Singh Rawat issues new COVID-19 guidelines Uttarakhand chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat-led government has come up with fresh guidelines with certain restrictions such as the ceiling of 100 people in marriage, religious, educational and entertainment events. The state earlier allowed up to 200 people for such events. The government has also directed inter-state travellers to register themselves on the smart city website. Punjab: Night curfew from December 1 As the coronavirus cases surged in Punjab, the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has imposed night curfew in all towns and cities from 10 pm to 5 am, starting December 1. The government has also doubled the fine for people flouting COVID-19 rules effective from December 1. The fine for not wearing masks and not following social distancing norms has been hiked from ₹500 to ₹1,000. Gujarat: After Ahmedabad, night curfew in Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot The police commissioner of Ahmedabad, Sanjay Shrivastav, has decided to extend the night curfew in the city till December 11 in view of the prevailing coronavirus situation. The Gujarat government had imposed a night curfew in Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot from Saturday 9:00 pm due to a massive rise in the number of coronavirus cases. After the Diwali festivities, there has been a significant rise in the number of COVID cases in Gujarat, especially in the financial capital of the state, Ahmedabad. Many people were seen roaming the markets without adhering the standard precautions. The state authorities had earlier announced the curfew till December 7. “People must remain indoors during this period. People must not stand at public roads, streets or public places or move around on foot or in vehicles during this period," the order said. Himachal Pradesh: Night curfew from 8 pm to 6 am Himachal Pradesh is the latest state to impose night curfew from 8 pm to 6 am in 4 districts — Shimla, Kangra, Mandi and Kullu. The government has ordered schools and colleges to be closed until December 31. The government has also increased the fine for not wearing masks from ₹500 to ₹1,000. Madhya Pradesh: Night curfew in five district The Madhya Pradesh Government has also ordered night curfew in five districts due to rising COVID-19 cases. They have already come into effect in Indore, Bhopal, Gwalior, Vidisha, and Ratlam districts from Saturday and will be effective from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am every day. Maharashtra: Covid negative report mandatory to enter Maharashtra As Covid-19 cases are on the upswing in several parts of the country, Maharashtra on Monday imposed conditions for all travellers arriving in the state from Gujarat, Goa, Rajasthan and Delhi, starting from Wednesday (November 25). The state has made it compulsory for a RT-PCR negative test report for all people arriving by air, road or rail from these four states. In a notification, the state has said that for people who land here by flights, the RT-PCR test must have been done within 72 hours of their scheduled arrival at the Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur and Aurangabad airports. For those entering the state by roads, the administrations in the state's border districts will make arrangements for checking symptoms, body temperature and conducting tests before they are permitted onward travel in Maharashtra. Haryana: Khattar shuts down schools, lockdown may not be on the cards After nearly 150 students tested positive, the Haryana government ordered the closure of schools in the state until November 30. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has also appealed to people to adhere to COVID-19 safety guidelines, like wearing masks and maintaining social distancing, in the wake of rising coronavirus cases in the state. "Now, the issue comes whether we should impose another lockdown, which can be done with just one order. But we have seen earlier that markets and factories were closed and how people faced difficulty. We have seen that phase... if at this stage, we can take full precautions to help check the spread of this infection, we must do that," Khattar said. In this regard, the US wants to seek opportunities in all the proposed 100 smart city projects. 
 US Deputy Secretary of Commerce Bruce Andrews, who is on a five-day India visit and leading a delegation of 18 US companies on a <keyword id="6377036" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="smart-cities">Smart Cities</keyword> Infrastructure Business Development Mission., said that the US can be a "valuable partner" for India in providing sustainable solutions for Smart City initiative. 
 
Andrews said the delegation comprising 18 US firms have come to meet both policy makers and Indian businesses and would showcase the great technologies that provide great value and potential for India. 
 
"We believe that US can be a very valuable partner in helping India to develop sustainable economy," Andrews said, adding that there are substantial business opportunities for the US companies in India's smart city projects. 
 
US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) Director Leocadia Zak said the US has helped in master planning of Visakhapatnam smart city and is provided technical support to Allahabad and Ajmer. 
 
"This is the beginning of the process. Our efforts are not limited to three cities. US businesses have the technological solutions which will be helpful across India," Andrews said. 
 
The government had recently announced the first batch of 20 smart cities from 11 states and Delhi. 
 
Apart from Bhubaneshwar, the cities in the first batch are Pune, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Bhopal, NDMC area of Delhi, Jaipur, Surat, Kochi, Jabalpur, Visakhapatnam, Solapur, Davanagere, Indore, Coimbatore, Kakinada, Belagavi, Udaipur, Guwahati and Ludhiana.

Present in 11 states, with over 30 learning centres, IIMPACT has been working towards providing quality <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=primary+education">primary education</a> to the <keyword id="6366837" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="girl-child">girl child</keyword> in remote communities since 2003. 
 And, for Tandon, the journey to ensuring all girls in the country receive quality <keyword id="6366135" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Primary-education">primary education</keyword> has just begun. 
 
Approximately 45,000 girls have been educated till Class V through IIMPACT’s learning centres, wherein volunteers teach the girls basic subjects, apart from counseling parents to be in favour of sending their kids to school. 
 
“No amount of awareness is really enough. And, this year, we intend to reach to 1000 more girls and get them started on their primary education,” Tandon tells me. 
 
This might seem like a job easier said than done. It not only requires massive amount of funds, but also a whole lot of awareness. 
 This is where Mumbai-based cycling enthusiast and Microsoft employee <keyword id="2610228" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Jasmeet-Singh-Gandhi">Jasmeet Singh Gandhi</keyword> came in. 
 
In a bid to raise funds for supporting the cause of girl child education, Gandhi, a strong supporter of the cause himself has undertaken the Umeed 1000 Cyclothon 2015 and is<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=cycling"> cycling</a> 1000 kilometres spanning the distance between Mumbai to Delhi with the aim to complete it in 10 days. 
 
 
 
Gandhi started his cycling odyssey from Mumbai on 7th December and will pass through Vapi, Surat, Vadodra, Ahmedabad, Himmatnagar, Udaipur, Ajmer, Jaipur, Gurgaon before finally making it to Delhi on the 17th December. 
 
Gandhi however is not new to undertaken expeditions such as this. Last year, he cycled from Mumbai to Bangalore for raising money for eye-cancer patients. And, this year, he aims to guarantee the education of a girl child, through the power of his cycle. 
 
“It takes Rs 3,000 a year to educate a child. My mission is to raise funds to support 1,000 children," said Gandhi, who will have a medical support team travelling with him. 
 
Along his way, Gandhi will also participate in various events to help raise awareness and educate people on the importance of basic education for girls. 
 
The event is being sponsored by RBL bank and according to Shanta Vallury Gandhi, Head Human Resources, CSR and Internal Branding at RBL Bank, the reason for their tie-up with IIMPACT is because women empowerment and education is one of the core pillars of RBL Bank's CSR programme. 
"While IIMPACT is run by professionals it is run for charity. They have been instrumental in brightening the lives of many children by providing educational opportunities to girls, from socially and economically disadvantaged communities of India. When you educate a girl, you educate a nation and this is very much part of our ethos. We are particularly happy to partner with IIMPACT for this noble initiative as it fits in well with the DNA of our organization," she added.
