10 ways Sundar Pichai stood out as the right man to be CEO of Alphabet

<ul><li>Google has announced that it will invest a whopping $10 billion in India through the Google for India Digitization Fund. </li><li><keyword id="164502" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sundar-Pichai">Sundar Pichai</keyword>, the CEO of Google said that the investment will be done over the next 5-7 years. </li><li>The company has identified four investment areas in India.</li></ul>Google has announced that it will invest a whopping $10 billion in India through the Google for India Digitization Fund. During the company’s annual Google For India event which went digital this time, Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google said that the investment will be done over the next 5-7 years. Google will invest in the following four areas <ul><li>First, enabling affordable access and information for every Indian in their own language, whether it’s Hindi, Tamil, Punjabi or any other</li><li>Second, building new products and services that are deeply relevant to India’s unique needs.</li><li>Third, empowering businesses as they continue or embark on their digital transformation.</li><li>Fourth, leveraging technology and AI for social good, in areas like health, education, and agriculture. </li></ul>“There’s no question we are facing a difficult moment today, in India and around the world. The dual challenges to our health and to our economies have forced us to rethink how we work and how we live. But times of challenge can lead to incredible moments of innovation. Our goal is to ensure India not only benefits from the next wave of innovation, but leads it,” said Pichai. Google follows Facebook – partners with CBSE Google has also announced a partnership with the Central Board of Secondary Education, just days after social media giant Facebook too had partnered with the board. Through its partnership, Google aims to enable over 1 million teachers across 22,000 schools in India. The tech giant also announced an additional investment of $1 million into Kaivalya Education Foundation to train 700,000 teachers on online education to impart knowledge to children in low income communities in India. The company’s marketing head for India and Southeast Asia Sapna Chadha also spoke about Google’s efforts in vernacular language education in India. She said that over the last few years, Google.org, Google’s philanthropic venture, has invested $12 million into companies like TheTeacherApp, Pratham and Central Square Foundation to create content in local languages. Google will invest $10 billion in India, as CEO Sundar Pichai says India will lead the next wave of innovation

German chancellor <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=angela+merkel">Angela Merkel</a> made everyone’s (including <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=narendra+modi">Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s</a>) day when she returned a 10th century Durga idol which was stolen from Kashmir over two decades back. 
 
Three years ago, it was found that the idol was spotted in a museum in Sruttgart, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Three-things-we-wish-India-had-like-you-doGermany/articleshow/49229454.cms">Germany</a> and the Indian government immediately got in touch with the Germany authorities to ensure that the process of getting the idol back was started. 
 And, finally, <keyword id="76" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Angela-Merkel">Angela Merkel</keyword> herself returned the idol to Modi on Tuesday during her two-day visit to India. 
 
Thanking Merkel and the people of Germany for returning the idol, Modi was quoted saying, “The statue is from Jammu and Kashmir &amp; is a symbol of victory of good over evil.” 
 
We at Business Insider got a little carried away by Merkel’s benevolence and thought to ourselves, ‘Hey, what if we had a chance to present our wishlist of Indian valuables we would like America to return to us?' 
 
We let that idea linger and racked our brains for a long long time and came up with this list of three valuables that definitely need a homecoming. 
 
1. <keyword id="1655" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Priyanka-Chopra">Priyanka Chopra</keyword>’s accent: As much as we are proud of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=priyanka+chopra">Priyanka Chopra</a> bagging the lead role in Quantico, an American TV series, we cannot help but roll our eyes and cover our ears whenever she starts speaking in the show, mainly because we’re clueless as to which accent she has put on, considering the first episode revealed she’s capable of putting on atleast five different accents. 
So, consider this as a genuine request America, return her accent(s) to us, so that we can do the needful and lock it up in a closet which no can find or hear. 
 
2. Sunder Pichai: Okay, there’s no easy way to say this, but India is brimming with engineering graduates who’ve slogged their asses and survived four years at a place worse than jail- engineering college. If that doesn’t sound bad enough, this will- they do so, without having a social life or girlfriends. Thus, the least we can ask for from Silicon Valley is to return our very own <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=sundar+pichai">Sunder Pichai</a> to us, so he can start something In India and hire the hundreds of jobless engineers. They’ve sacrificed enough. 
 
3. <keyword id="966769" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Kunal-Nayyar">Kunal Nayyar</keyword>: India has had enough of Kapil Sharma on one hand, and of AIB, on the other.
