Sensex opened below 62,000 at 61,963, down by 217 points while the 50-stock index Nifty50 was down 64 points at 18,427. On the global front, investors await monetary policy decisions of the central banks in the US, Europe to be announced this week. Last week, the Reserve Bank of India <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/finance/news/rbi-hikes-repo-rate-by-35-bps-taking-rates-to-a-high-of-6-25/articleshow/96045841.cms">announced</a> a 35-basis point rate hike in line with expectations, but analysts suggest that RBI governor Shaktikanta Das’ commentary indicates another rate hike is on the cards. Last Friday, Indian markets closed lower due to selling pressure in IT, energy and PSU bank stocks. Meanwhile Brent crude oil prices remained below $80 levels at $76 per barrel on Monday. At the same time rupee was up 0.25% at 82 against the US dollar. Sula Vineyards and Abans Holdings IPO will open for subscription today, while Uniparts India shares will mark its debut on the stock exchanges. The inflation figures were better than analysts’ expectations. This comes as a huge relief as the inflation falls back into the RBI tolerance range for the first time this year. “Dip in food and vegetable prices are the primary reasons for the softness in inflation. The core inflation remains elevated though. The critical thing to watch out for will be the durability of this trend for the RBI to soften its stance in the fight against inflation,” said Nish Bhatt, founder &amp; CEO at Millwood Kane International. Meanwhile, India’s factory output that is measured through index of industrial production (IIP) shrank 4% in October. “Overall, the combination of lower inflation and weaker growth is likely to persist in CY23, though the magnitude of fall (in both) was surprising today. Since IIP is a key input in quarterly GDP estimates, it imparts downward bias in 3Q GDP growth. At the same time, details of CPI are not so encouraging. Thus, we maintain a 25bp rate hike in February 2023 by the RBI,” said Nikhil Gupta, chief economist at Motilal Oswal Financial Services Group. Global markets trend upwards on hope Most global markets were trending higher on expectations that the pace of interest rate hikes in the US will slowdown. This comes ahead of US inflation numbers that are to be announced today, while the US Fed rate hike decision takes place tomorrow. Indian markets open higher as retail inflation eases — Paytm, ICICI Bank, Dalmia Bharat among stocks to watch out for

Nifty opened nearly 100 points lower on the back of weak global cues. However, it managed to stage a handsome recovery of more than 150 points to end the day near the previous close. Investors are cautious ahead of the US Fed's last meeting of 2022 scheduled this week,” said Devarsh Vakil, deputy head of retail research at HDFC Securities. The Nifty IT and pharma indices were the only two losers with declines of 0.40% and 0.13% respectively. “Before the CPI data, Indian markets have seen a consolidation. Bank Nifty also consolidated before the event. The Indian market closed flat to the previous day’s closing. Indications are in the favour of prevailing consolidation to continue and sustainability above 18,300 in Nifty is critical to maintaining the positive tone,” said analysts at Choice Broking. <div type="image" title="daily-profit-loss-14" msid="96174423" hostid="261" sizebytes="55558"></div> Global markets bleed ahead of rate hike decisions Asian markets have been under pressure ahead of the monetary policy decisions of the US and European central banks to be announced this week. All Asian markets were in the red with Hong Kong’s Hang Seng falling the most at 2.2%, followed by China’s Shanghai SE Composite, which was down 0.87%. Taiwan SE Weighted Index was down 0.63% and Nikkei 225 ended lower by 0.21%. In the US, the S&amp;P 500 ended 0.73% lower on Friday, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq too closed 0.7% lower. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.9%. Sensex, Nifty50 end flat ahead of US Fed policy meet this week

The week gone by saw markets correcting themselves after having made lifetime highs on both intraday and closing basis. While a correction after a huge rally is always welcome. This brings us close to the level where the rally must commence again in the next couple of days. If that does not happen, there could be another sharp round of selling which would emerge. This could probably put an end to the expected Santa Claus rally that one is used to seeing in <keyword id="46038" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="indian-markets" source="Orion">Indian markets</keyword>. BSESENSEX lost 686.83 points or 1.09 per cent to close at 62,181.67 points while NIFTY lost 199.50 points or 1.07 per cent to close at 18,496.60 points. The broader markets saw BSE100, BSE200 and BSE500 lose 0.95 per cent, 0.96 per cent and 0.96 per cent respectively. BSEMIDCAP was a big loser and was down 4.32 per cent while BSESMALLCAP lost 1.18 per cent. Our markets lost on four of the five trading sessions and gained on one. The IT pack lost substantial ground on Friday and brought down markets. The <keyword id="6355302" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="rupee" source="Orion">Rupee</keyword> was under pressure and lost 95 paisa or 1.17 per cent to close at 82.27 to the <keyword id="6368584" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="us-dollar" source="Orion">US Dollar</keyword>. Dow Jones too was under pressure and lost on three of the five trading sessions, gaining on just two. It lost 953.42 points or 2.77 per cent to close at 33,476.46 points. RBI announced its credit policy after the three-day meet which was held between December 5 and December 7. RBI has raised repo rates by 35 basis points to 6.25 per cent. This comes after three consecutive rate hikes of 50 basis points each. This has come on the back of inflation easing but at the same time growth tapering. RBI has revised downwards GDP for FY23 to 6.8 per cent. In primary market news, we had one listing and have three IPOs opening and closing next week. Shares of Dharmaj Crop Guard Limited which had issued shares at Rs 237, listed on Thursday. The discovered price was Rs 266, and shares after touching an intraday high of Rs 278.90 closed at Rs 266.40. They gained Rs 29.40 or 12.40 per cent. On Friday they lost ground and closed at Rs 249.85, a gain of Rs 12.85 or 5.42 per cent. Shares of Uniparts India Limited would list on Monday (December 12). The issue was entirely an Offer for sale. The price band was Rs 548-577. The first issue is from Sula Vineyards Limited which is tapping the capital markets with its offer for sale of 2,69,00,530 equity shares in a price band of Rs 340-357. The issue will open on Monday (December 12) and close on Wednesday (December 14). The fundraise at the top end of the price band would be Rs 960 crore. The selling shareholders include the Promoters and PE Investors. Sula is in the business of producing wine and is India's largest wine producer and seller. The company has a dominant market share and is slightly higher than half by value in the 100 per cent grape wine market. The company has its wine making facilities in the states of Maharashtra at Nasik and in Karnataka. There is a subsidy which was given on the export of grapes towards transportation which has been withdrawn recently. Similarly, the refund of state taxes which was available for wine in the state of Maharashtra has been put on hold and would act as a big dampener on the performance of Sula if not reinstated. The company reported revenues of Rs 453.91 crore for the year ended March 22. Revenues in the six months ended September 21 were at Rs 159.15 crore which have risen to Rs 224 crore in the current six months ended September 22. Net profit for the full year was at Rs 69.53 crore. For the current six months they were at Rs 41.25 crore against Rs 5.62 crore. The EPS for the year ended March 22 was at Rs 6.53. The PE band at this price is 52.07-54.67 times. The company has chosen to compare itself with breweries and liquor manufacturers like United Spirits, Radico Khaitan and United Breweries. These companies are strictly not comparable as they are in allied business but certainly not identical business. The share has more than its fair share of issues going forward. Readers would be well advised to subscribe for listing gains. The second issue is from Abans Holdings Limited which is tapping the markets with its fresh issue for 38 lakh shares and an offer for sale of 90 lakh shares. The price band of the issue is Rs 256-270 and the issue opens on Monday (December 12) and closes on Thursday (December 15). The allocation is 10 per cent for QIBs, 30 per cent for HNIs and 60 per cent for Retail investors. The company is a holding company and operates in the diversified financial space through 17 subsidiaries and step-down subsidiaries. It reported an EPS of Rs 13.37 for the year ended March 22. The PE band is 19.15-20.19. The company has compared itself with three broking outfits namely: Edelweiss, Geojit and Choice. These companies are not strictly comparable as their broking activities are substantially larger. The business is complex and the proposed listed entity would have to demonstrate its core strengths before the company could be invested into. The third and final issue is from premium and luxury car retailer, Landmark Cars Limited. The company is tapping the capital markets with a fresh issue of Rs 150 crore and an offer for sale of Rs 402 crore. The issue opens on Tuesday (December 13) and closes on Thursday (December 15). The price band of the issue is Rs 481-506. The company sells cars from Mercedes, Honda, Volkswagen, Jeep, EV maker BYD, Renault and Commercial vehicles of Ashok Leyland. It is present in eight states through 112 outlets for sales and service. The company sold 19,264 new vehicles in FY22 against 13,282 in FY21 and serviced 2.79 lakh vehicles against 2.21 lakh vehicles in the same period. The company reported revenues of Rs 2,976 crore against Rs 1,956 crore. The PAT was Rs 66.18 crore against 11.14 crore. The EPS on a diluted basis was Rs 17.45. The PE band was 27.56-29. Looking at the press reports which said that automobile sales in November 22 were at record highs, and registered a growth of over 25 per cent over the previous year, this business has everything going for it. Readers would be advised to look at the company for the medium term and long term as India rises to become a five trillion economy. Coming to the market in the week ahead, expect them to remain volatile. One does not have too much news flow expected as we move towards the last fortnight of the calendar year. There is not much expected from overseas as well, other than the FED meeting on December 12-13. This could give some sharp volatility to US markets and hence to the world. Expect markets to react to this news and decide whether they are likely to move to form new highs or turn sideways to negative. The strategy for the week would be to play to the market moves and keep a close eye to volumes. Any sharp moves without volumes cannot happen at this juncture. Markets have to display volume and movement in the same direction. They would continue to be led by midcap and smallcap space. Trade cautiously. This deal is part of Jaiprakash Associates’ efforts to pay off its lenders by selling its assets. The acquisition will include a total cement capacity of 9.4 million tonnes (along with a clinker capacity of 6.7 million tonnes and thermal power plants of 280 MW). These plants are situated in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. With this, Dalmia Bharat will expand its footprint into the central region and will help it move closer to its goal of becoming a pan-India cement company with a capacity of 75 million tonnes by FY27 and 110‐130 million tonnes by FY31. Jaiprakash Associates has been in the process of selling its cement assets in order to reduce its debt levels and repay lenders. Between 2014 and 2017, the company sold cement capacity of 20 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) to UltraTech Cement. “Jaiprakash Associates ltd. (JAL), the flagship company has been taking steps to reduce its debt and repay to lenders and meet its commitments on pro active basis. In this regard, JAL had divested more than 20 MTPA cement capacity in favour of Ms. UltraTech Cement Limited during 2014 and 2017, while selling its controlling stake of more than 2 MTPA cement capacity to Dalmia Group in 2015,” said Jaiprakash Associates in a BSE Statement. According to several media reports, Adani Group and Aditya Birla Group both were in the fray to acquire the assets. “In order to repay the loans of lenders and concentrate in its other core areas of working, JAL has decided to divest from (the) cement business completely. With the sale of cement capacity of 9.4 MTPA in favour of Dalmia Cement (Bharat) ltd. (DCBL), we hope and pray having demonstrated its creditable working, JAL will further 'cement' its credentials of being a trustworthy organisation in (the) infrastructure segment of the country in times to come" said Jaiprakash Associates in a Statement. This growing threat has already affected five million people globally, with hackers selling webcam snaps, screenshots, up-to-date logins, cookies and digital fingerprints. "At least five million people have had their online identities stolen and sold on bot markets for Rs 490 on average. Out of all the affected people, 600,000 are from India, making the country the most affected by this threat in the world," said the researchers. At least 26.6 million stolen logins were found on the analysed markets. Among them were 720,000 Google logins, 654,000 Microsoft logins, and 647,000 Facebook logins. In addition, researchers found 667 million cookies, 81 thousand digital fingerprints, 538 thousand auto-fill forms, numerous device screenshots, and webcam snaps. "<keyword id="15730606" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Digital-bots" source="Orion">Digital bots</keyword> are becoming increasingly common. They operate in fields such as customer service, search engine optimisation and entertainment. Yet not all bots may serve good intentions -- many of them can be malicious," said security researchers. The most popular types of malware that steal and gather data include RedLine, Vidar, Racoon, Taurus, and AZORult. RedLine is the most prevalent of them all. "The 2easy marketplace was launched in 2018. At first, it was considered to be smaller compared to other markets. Yet the situation has dramatically changed since then. Now, 2easy sells more than 600,000 stolen data logs from 269 countries," said the report. Data of 6 lakh Indians sold on 'bot' markets for nearly ₹490 each

Online interior design services startup <keyword id="14481983" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="modsy" source="Orion">Modsy</keyword> has quietly shut operations and several customers have been left with unfinished renovations and project orders in process. San Francisco-based Modsy has abruptly ceased offering design services, laid off its designers and left its customers in disarray, reports <keyword id="179988" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="techcrunch" source="Orion">TechCrunch</keyword>. The startup returned some service order charges and promised to refund furniture deliveries to those who filled an online form. "But more than two weeks later, tweets show that many Modsy customers are still awaiting updates," the report said late on Sunday. <keyword id="2176624" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="apoorva-govind" source="Orion">Apoorva Govind</keyword>, Founder of BesteverApp, tweeted on Monday: "I'm so disappointed that Modsy is shutting down! Chouhan even worked at Mumbai Indians briefly before joining BSE as its deputy CEO and rising to the position of CEO, in the 12 years that he worked there.
