It seems trouble has not ended for noodlemakers in this country yet. Recently, a team of Food Safety and Drugs Administration based in Meerut has found a <keyword id="6356684" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="patanjali">Patanjali</keyword> Atta Noodles sample "sub-standard" on the grounds that the ash content in the tastemaker was exceeding the prescribed limits by nearly three times. That’s even higher than <keyword id="6369404" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maggi">Maggi</keyword> samples. 
 The tests were carried out on samples of Patanjali Noodles, Maggi and <keyword id="1510738" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Yippee">Yippee</keyword> collected from Meerut on February 5, 2016, the report of which reached came out on Saturday. In all the three samples, ash content found is invariably high. 
 
The permissible limit for ash content according to law is 1%, but all the three samples failed the test and were found "substandard" for consumption.

After Maggi, Patanjali Atta Noodles found ‘sub-standard’

The charge was denied by <keyword id="34523" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="fmcg">FMCG</keyword> major which questioned the testing standards. District Designated Officer Manoj Kumar Verma of Barbanki said that a case was lodged in the court of additional district magistrate yesterday after <keyword id="75190" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Nestle">Nestle</keyword> failed to reply to notices sent by it after samples were found "sub-standard during lab test at Gorakhpur". When contacted, a Nestle India spokesperson said: "We have not received any notice from the concerned authorities about samples of <keyword id="6369404" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Maggi">Maggi</keyword> noodles collected from Umesh Chandra, Barabanki. We have also not received any notice from the Court and we have heard about this only from a media report." 

	Asserting that Maggi is "100 per cent safe for consumption" the spokesperson said: "In recent past we have come across instances where in Uttar Pradesh, standards for 'Macaroni products' are being applied for 'Instant Noodles with seasoning' which is erroneous and misleading."
 

	She further said: "We categorically re-iterate that testing of instant noodles against norms set for macaroni products will reflect in incorrect results and wrong interpretations."
 

	Last year, Uttar Pradesh Food &amp; Drug Administration took samples of Maggi from the shop of Umesh Chandra in Joshi Tola, which was purchased from Ravindra Traders.
 

	According to Verma, "samples were found sub-standard during lab test at Gorakhpur" and notices were sent to Nestle and two sellers.

Nestle in trouble again for alleged 'sub-standard' Maggi

<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=nestle+india" target="_BLANK￿￿￿￿">Nestle India</a> has not fully come out of the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=maggi+ban" target="_BLANK￿￿￿￿">Maggi ban</a> effect and yet another claim has surfaced. 
 
The Uttar Pradesh district authority claimed that fresh <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Nestle-chief-working-to-restore-companys-image-after-Maggi-ban/articleshow/47813250.cms" target="_BLANK￿￿￿￿">Maggi samples</a> were sub-standard. 
 
A <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=food+authority" target="_BLANK￿￿￿￿">district food safety official</a> has reportedly said that samples of <keyword id="6356830" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nestle-India">Nestle India</keyword>’s Maggi noodles collected from Barabanki district in February were found sub-standard and contained more ash content. 
 
The official claimed that tests conducted by a Lucknow-based state-owned lab found ash content in Maggi Masala to be 1.85 per cent, which is higher than the permissible limit of 1 per cent. 
 
However, Nestle has dismissed such claims. 
 
“Maggi noodles is 100 per cent safe for consumption. It is apparent from media reports that standards for 'macaroni products' are being applied for 'instant noodles with seasoning' which is erroneous and misleading,” said the company in a statement. 
 
"We categorically reiterate that testing of instant noodles against norms set for macaroni products will reflect in incorrect results and wrong interpretations. The quality and safety of our products are non-negotiable priorities for us," Nestle said in the statement.

Maggi is in trouble again

The quarter that ended on March 31 wasn’t a good one for <keyword id="6356830" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Nestle-India">Nestle India</keyword>, with the Swiss Trans-national F&amp;B company reporting a 19% decline in net profit. The result is a loss of the ban that flagship instant noodles <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Maggi-is-in-trouble-again/articleshow/51344594.cms">Maggi</a> faced in the country. 
 
As per the company statement, net profit for the quarter was Rs 259 crore as compared to Rs 320 crore for the corresponding quarter in 2015. 
 
"Results for the quarter have been impacted by the Maggi noodles issue in 2015," the company said in a statement. 
 
Talking of net sales, they dipped 8.5% to Rs 2,296 crore, which was below what analysts had estimated. Not only this, the company's total expenditure too fell 7.2% and stood at Rs 1,856 crore during the quarter. 
 
For the quarter that ended on December 31, 2015, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/WATCH-Nestles-new-ad-featuring-Sania-Mirza-andShoaib-Malik-is-adorable/articleshow/51409354.cms">Nestle India</a> had reported 43.8% year-on-year decline in net profit at Rs 183.19. 
 
The ban on Maggi was placed by the Food Safety &amp; Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) had banned after allegations that it contained more lead than allowed, and that the label didn’t provide the correct information regarding the flavour enhancer MSG (monosodium glutamate). It had taken five months for Maggi to <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/It-will-take-Nestle-3-years-to-undo-the-Maggi-damage-in-India/articleshow/51120095.cms">return to markets</a>.

Nonetheless, the company is treading on the road to recovery, with <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Nestle-CEO-says-Maggi-is-recovering-faster-than-expected-after-a-five-month-hitch/articleshow/51837924.cms">Maggi regaining leadership</a> with over 50% share within five months of the re-launch last year. However, its market share is much lower as compared to what it had before being banned, which was more than 75%.
