Australian Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles will travel to Ahmedabad to witness the summit clash between <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword> and <keyword id="6355478" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="australia" source="Orion">Australia</keyword> at the <keyword id="3859" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="cricket-world-cup" source="Orion">cricket World Cup</keyword> on Sunday. Marles, who is also Australia's <keyword id="32723" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="defence" source="Orion">defence</keyword> minister, and Foreign Minister Penny Wong are visiting India to co-chair the second edition of the "2+2" ministerial dialogue along with their Indian counterparts on Monday. The defence ministry on Saturday announced the Australian deputy prime minister's two-day visit to India from November 19-20 primarily for the "2+2" dialogue that is expected to focus on boosting the overall defence and strategic ties between the two countries. It said Marles will also attend the cricket World Cup final between India and Australia on Sunday. "Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Richard Marles will visit India from November 19 to 20 to co-chair the second India-Australia 2+2 ministerial dialogue with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh," the ministry said in a statement. The Indian delegation at the "2+2" dialogue will be led by Singh and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. "During his visit, Minister Marles will also attend the Cricket World Cup final between India and Australia in Ahmedabad, Gujarat on November 19," the ministry said. It said Singh and Marles will hold a bilateral meeting on November 20 that would be followed by the "2+2" dialogue. "India and Australia are pursuing a comprehensive strategic partnership and the visit of Minister Marles is expected to give further impetus to the collaboration as well as bilateral defence cooperation," the defence ministry said. "The two countries are expected to discuss wide-ranging issues of mutual interest during the 2+2 dialogue and the bilateral defence ministers' meeting," it added. The two sides are expected to focus extensively on further ramping up the overall defence and security ties and boost the strategic cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region during the "2+2"dialogue. Both Australia and India are part of the Quad or Quadrilateral coalition that is focused on working towards ensuring a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific. The other two members of the Quad are the United States and Japan. The situation in West Asia in view of the Hamas-Israel conflict, China's increasing military muscle flexing in the Indo-Pacific and issues relating to regional security is expected to figure in the talks, people familiar with the preparation for the dialogue said. The inaugural "2+2" ministerial dialogue between India and Australia took place in September 2021. India has such a framework for talks with a very few countries, including the US and Japan. The latest edition of the India-US foreign and defence ministerial dialogue took place in New Delhi on November 10. The bilateral defence and strategic ties between India and Australia are on an upward trajectory in the last few years. In June 2020, the two countries elevated their ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership and signed a landmark deal for reciprocal access to military bases for logistics support. The <keyword id="10796857" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="mutual-logistics-support-agreement" source="Orion">Mutual Logistics Support Agreement</keyword> (<keyword id="449908" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="mlsa" source="Orion">MLSA</keyword>) allows the militaries of the two countries to use each other's bases for repair and replenishment of supplies, besides facilitating scaling up of the overall defence cooperation. India signs $50 million defense LoC agreement to boost maritime capabilities of Maldives

<keyword id="6354785" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="france" source="Orion">France</keyword> wants to be <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>'s "best partner" in boosting its <keyword id="2377476" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="defence-manufacturing" source="Orion">defence manufacturing</keyword> and has decided to share the <keyword id="15204665" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="best-technologies-and-equipment" source="Orion">best technologies and equipment</keyword> in sync with the growing "trust" between the two sides, French Ambassador Emmanuel Lenain has said. Without divulging specific details, the envoy said French and Indian companies are working together on "equipment of the future", platforms and engines. "I do not think any country provides India with the same level of technology. The progress is also due to the fact that we recognise that India wants to boost its strategic autonomy, wants to build its industrial base and we want to be India's best partner in this move," he told PTI. Indo-French strategic ties have been on a major upswing after India inked an inter-governmental agreement with France in September 2016 for the procurement of 36 Rafale jets at a cost of around Rs 59,000 crore. "Defence has always been a very strong component of our cooperation because there is a lot of trust between our two countries. When you want to work on these issues, you need trust because you commit yourself for 10, 20, 30 years," Lenain said. "This trust is the main asset that we have. Defence cooperation has been developing very well because we are very comfortable with India and we have decided that we could share our best technology, state-of-the-art equipment, best-in-class technology," he said. The two sides are now looking at further bolstering the strategic partnership in view of the evolving global geo-political landscape triggered by the crisis in Ukraine and developments in the Indo-Pacific region. "From the beginning, we were the best partners in the Make-in-India policy. Now that India is switching to the Atma Nirbhar policy, we are also there for India," Lenain said. He said France is ready to co-develop equipment with India and share know-how. "Our companies are working together on the equipment of the future, on engines, on different sorts of equipment. It is very positive for both industries," he said. Lenain chose not to give a direct reply when asked about the possibility of the Indian Air Force procuring additional Rafales and whether France was also looking at supplying the naval version of the jet to the Indian Navy. "We are talking, and again, we are very much willing to provide state-of-the-art equipment. Everything is on the table and we do our best," he said. French aerospace major Safran has already set the ball rolling to set up its biggest maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO) facility in Hyderabad with an investment of around USD 305 million. "It is a partnership of equals and it is a partnership to boost each other's strategic autonomy," Lenain said. Ways to expand defence and security cooperation figured during French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna's visit to India last month. In December last year, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said France has agreed to jointly build aircraft engine with India. In 2017, India unveiled the ambitious strategic partnership (SP) model to facilitate joint ventures between select private Indian firms and foreign defence majors to build military platforms like submarines and fighter jets in India. The SP model aims to create a vibrant defence manufacturing ecosystem in the country through joint ventures between Indian corporates and global defence majors. The government has initiated a series of measures in the last few years to boost domestic defence manufacturing. In March, the defence ministry said it plans to procure military equipment worth Rs five lakh crore from the domestic industries in the next five to seven years in line with its policy of promoting indigenous defence manufacturing. India has been one of the largest importers of arms globally. According to estimates, the Indian armed forces are projected to spend around USD 130 billion (one billion is equal to 100 crores) in capital procurement in the next five years. The government now wants to reduce dependence on imported military platforms and has decided to support domestic defence manufacturing. The defence ministry has set a goal of a turnover of USD 25 billion (Rs 1.75 lakh crore) in defence manufacturing in the next five years, including an export target of USD 5 billion worth of military hardware. The Indian Air Force (IAF) contingent was given a grand welcome as it landed at the Hyakuri Air Base, about 80 km northeast of Tokyo, on Tuesday for the inaugural joint Air Exercise between India and <keyword id="6355311" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="japan" source="Orion">Japan</keyword> that kicks off on January 12. A traditional water cannon salute was given to the IAF's frontline Su-30 MKI fighter aircraft, four of which are participating, along with two C-17s and one IL-78, in Exercise 'Veer Guardian-2023' to be held till January 26. The Indian contingent also includes Squadron Leader Avani Chaturvedi who is the first IAF woman fighter pilot to participate in an air exercise abroad. Hyakuri Air Base Commander Major General Ishimura Takahisa, who welcomed the IAF contingent along with India's Ambassador to Japan Sibi George, affirmed that both countries will continue to promote <keyword id="32723" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="defence" source="Orion">defence</keyword> cooperation in order to maintain and strengthen the Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP) region. The Japan Air Self Defence Force (JASDF) will be represented by four Mitsubishi F-2 multirole fighters and four F-15 aircraft in the joint exercise. The Hyakuri Air Base, located in the Omitama City of Ibaraki Prefecture, is the only base in the Tokyo metropolitan area that has a combat air wing. It was home to the former Navy Hyakurigahara Air Corps, which was established in 1938. In 2010, Hyakuri Airport was shared and the Ibaraki Airport terminal building was completed. In 2019, Japan Air Force's 302nd Squadron (F-4) was moved to Misawa Air Base and upgraded to the F-35A. One year later, the reconnaissance squadron was abolished and the 3rd Squadron (F-2) moved from Misawa Air Base to Hyakuri Air Base. This also included the holding of the first joint fighter jet drills, reflecting the growing security cooperation between the two sides. "This exercise will thus be another step in deepening strategic ties and closer defence cooperation between the two countries," the Indian Defence Ministry said in a statement last week. The inaugural exercise will include the conduct of various aerial combat drills between the two Air Forces. They will undertake multi-domain air combat missions in a complex environment and will exchange best practices. Experts from both sides will also hold discussions to share their expertise on varied operational aspects. "Exercise 'Veer Guardian' will fortify the long-standing bond of friendship and enhance the avenues of defence cooperation between the two Air Forces," said the Defence Ministry. Indian fighter jets welcomed in Japan with water cannon salute

Defence Minister <keyword id="6355121" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rajnath-Singh">Rajnath Singh</keyword> on Wednesday arrived here on a three-day visit to Russia to attend a crucial meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and hold talks with his Russian counterpart Sergey Shoigu on further boosting bilateral defence cooperation. The defence ministers of all eight SCO member nations are expected to deliberate on regional security challenges like terrorism and extremism and ways to deal with them collectively here on Friday, officials said. "Raksha Mantri Shri @rajnathsingh reached Moscow on a three day visit to Russia. He was received by Major General Bukhteev Yury Nikolaevich at the airport," the Indian embassy tweeted. The meeting is taking place under the shadow of a fierce border row between India and China, both members of the influential bloc. "Reached Moscow this evening. Looking forward to my bilateral meeting with the Russian Counterpart General Sergey Shoygu tomorrow," Defence Minister Singh tweeted. The SCO comprises eight member states -- India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Chinese Defence Minister Gen Wei Fenghe and Pakistan's Pervez Khattak are expected to attend the SCO meeting. Asked about the possibility of a bilateral meeting between Singh and Wei on the sidelines of the SCO event, officials said there is no such plan. Before departure, Singh in a tweet said that issues of mutual interest will figure in his talks with Shoigu. "India and Russia are privileged Strategic Partners. Looking forward to further this partnership during my visit," he said. In his meeting with Shoigu, Singh will press for expediting supply of a number of weapons systems, ammunition and spares to India by Russia under contracts which were concluded earlier, officials said. In the talks, both sides are expected to officially finalise a long-pending proposal to produce AK 203 rifles in India. The officials said Singh is also likely to request the Russian side to ensure the timely delivery of the S-400 missile defence systems to India. The delivery of the first batch of S-400 surface-to-air missile systems to India is scheduled by the end of 2021. It is Singh's second visit to Moscow since June. He had represented India at the Victory Day Parade in Moscow on June 24 that commemorated the 75th anniversary of the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany in the Second World War. The SCO, seen as a counterweight to NATO, has emerged as one of the largest transregional international organisations which accounts for almost 44 per cent of the world population stretching from the Arctic Ocean to the Indian Ocean and from the Pacific Ocean to the Baltic Sea. The aim of the SCO is to maintain peace, stability and security of the region. India became a member of the SCO in 2017. Rajnath Singh reaches Russia for SCO meet under shadow of India-China border row

Washington/New Delhi, The US will ink a deal of <keyword id="8759762" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="integrated-air-defence">Integrated Air Defence</keyword> Weapon System (IADWS) at an estimated cost of $1.867 billion with India. The US state department on Monday made a "determination approving a possible foreign military sale to India". The <keyword id="515876" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="US-Defence-Security-Cooperation-Agency">US Defence Security Cooperation Agency</keyword> had informed the US Congress about the decision to sale the defence weapon system on February 7. The proposed sale of the <keyword id="46638" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="equipment">equipment</keyword> and support system will not alter the basic military balance in the region, the US government said in the context of neighbouring enemy countries. It stated: "India has requested to buy an <keyword id="8759763" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="integrated-air-defense">Integrated Air Defense</keyword> Weapon System (IADWS) comprising five components which are AN/MPQ-64Fl Sentinel radar systems; 118 AMRAAM AIM-120C-7/C-8 missiles; 3 AMRAAM Guidance Sections; 4 AMRAAM Control Sections; and 134 Stinger FIM-92L missiles." The US stated that India had requested to include 32 M4A1 rifles; 40,320 M855 5.56 mm cartridges; Fire Distribution Centers (FDC) and Handheld Remote Terminals. The deal also includes Electrical Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) sensor systems; AMRAAM Non-Developmental Item-Airborne Instrumentation Units (NDIAAIU); Multi-spectral Targeting System-Model A (MTS-A); Canister Launchers (CN); High Mobility Launchers (HML) and Dual Mount Stinger (DMS) Air Defence Systems. The US will also sell Vehicle Mounted Stinger Rapid Ranger Air Defence Systems; communications equipment; tool kits; test equipment; range and test programmes; support equipment; prime movers; generators; technical documentation; computer based training equipment; training equipment; training towers; ammunition storage; training and maintenance facilities; infrastructure improvements; US government and contractor technical support, engineering and logistics support services; warranty services; Systems and Integration Checkout (SICO); field office support and other related elements of logistics and programme support. The total estimated cost is $1.867 billion. "This proposed sale will support the foreign policy and national security of the US by helping to strengthen the US-India strategic relationship and to improve the security of a major defensive partner, which continues to be an important force for political stability, peace and economic progress in the Indo-Pacific and South Asia region," the US government stated. India intends to use these defence articles and services to modernise its armed forces, and to expand its existing air defence architecture to counter threats posed by air attacks. This will contribute to India's military goal to update its capability while further enhancing greater interoperability between India and the US. Around 60 US government or contractor representatives will travel to India for a period of six weeks wherein they will be involved in activities that include de-processing, fielding, training and technical and logistics support.

US to sell $1 bn worth air defence weapons to India

Both the countries have now decided to take this defence cooperation forward by joining hands to promote an integrated security system. The Russia-based NIKIRET (branch of a production company called Start, a subsidiary of Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation) and the Indian CORE Energy Systems Pvt. Ltd. recently signed a cooperation agreement that will let CORE buy Technical Security Equipment (TSE) from NIKIRET and subsequently promote it in India. The contract was officially signed by Vadim Pervuninskikh, the director of NIKIRET and Nagesh Basarkar, the chairman and managing director of CORE Energy Systems Pvt. Ltd. “Integrated security systems are a group of technical protective means intended for organisation of alarm security subsystems, monitoring of access control subsystems, monitoring of CCTV subsystems, performance of warning function,” Pervuninskikh told <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/defence/india-russia-join-hands-to-promote-integrated-security-system/articleshow/64671087.cms">Economic Times</a>. CIBMS project requires an alliance of gadgets and technologies to replace manual surveillance with electronic surveillance along the <a href="http://www.newindianexpress.com/cities/chennai/2018/jun/21/russian-firm-offers-smart-tech-to-protect-borders-1831272.html">2,900km</a> India-Pakistan border. It needs a sensor driven technology to detect any form of unsanctioned movement in water, on land and in air across the border. CORE in also striving to buy shares in the CIMBS project, the bid for which will begin in October. The need for this project was felt by the government in 2012. However, the real pressure set in right after the Pathankot terrorist attack in 2016. Later that year, the Indian authorities showed their interest in buying the Russian integrated security system, according to the official website of the<a href="http://rusembindia.com/newsletter/7855-india-interested-in-buying-russian-integrated-security-systems"> Embassy of Russian Federation in the Republic of India</a>. If the Technical Security Equipment (TSE) from NIKIRET proves to be serviceable enough, India will be able to implement the CIBMS project effectively. The deal is all the more important because science and technology is precisely what the Indo-Russian strategic partnership stands on. If the partnership succeeds, it can open new opportunities for both the countries and outsourcing equipments to Russia, not only for defence but also the power sector (nuclear, oil and gas), would become commonplace.

Yesterday, it was clear once again, the relationship between India and US is not just one between two governments but one that is people driven and they are people-centric. This is one of the most significant partnerships of the 21st century. Therefore, today, President and I have decided to raise this relationship to the level of 'comprehensive global strategic partnership'. In our talks today, we have had a constructive exchange on all aspects of this partnership from defence and security, energy strategic partnership, technology cooperation, global connectivity, trade relations, and people-to-people ties. Our defence manufacturers are part of each other's supply chain. In the last few years, there was an unprecedented increase in interoperability between the two militaries. We have decided to further strengthen the cooperation on Homeland security and to take steps against those who support terrorism. President Trump has given priority to the war against opioids today we have a greed honour new mechanism to deal with drug trafficking narcotics and organised crime. We have further solidified the recently established energy strategic partnership today. US has become a big source of energy for India in the recent years. In the last four years, the total bilateral trade on energy has been $20 billion, from renewables to nuclear, the cooperation is getting more energy. In the same way, India and US partnership are setting new benchmarks in cooperation in Industry 4.0 and other new emerging technologies of the 21st century. Indians talent has has enriched American companies with their leadership, democratic values, and culture. India and US want open and fair and balanced rate are committed the last 3 years the bilateral trade has grown in double digits and it's become more balanced. Just four sectors⁠— energy, civil aviation, defence, and higher education⁠— have contributed send $70 billion to the bilateral trade between the two countries in the last 4-5 years. This has been possible because of some the policy decisions taken by President Trump. I am fully confident that in the days to come this number will rise significantly in the days to come. As far as the bilateral trade is concerned, there have been constructive discussions between the two Commerce Ministries. President Trump and I have agreed to our respective teams will give legal shape to the understanding between the two Commerce ministers and to start negotiations on a trade deal. The partnership between the two countries is based on shared democratic values and goals. Especially, in the area of Indo-Pacific and global commerce, this cooperation will be important to bring a rule-based order. We agreed to push for sustainable and transparent financing in global connectivity. The synergies (between India and US) are not just beneficial to the two countries but to the world at large. I have sought President Trump that the two sides must take forward the 'totalisation' process of 'social security' contributions by the Indian diaspora in US. Donald Trump, US President: I know Prime Minister Modi will agree that this has been productive discussion. The two countries have expanded defence cooperation with agreements for India to purchase $3 billion American military equipment including Apache and MH 60 Romeo helicopters India will purchase over $3 billion defence equipment including Apache and Romeo 360 helicopters. Prime Minister and I agreed to protect our citizens from radical Islamic terrorism. United States is also working productively with Pakistan to confront terrorists who operate on its soil. The Prime Minister and I are revitalising the QUAD initiative between India, US, Australia, and Japan. It seems more than a meeting of ministers with all the expanded cooperation on counter-terrorism, cyber security, and maritime security towards creating a free and open Indo-Pacific. The two countries are united by shared traditions of democracy and constitution protect freedom rights and the rule of law. During our visit, we discussed the importance of a secure 5G wireless network and the need for this emerging technology to be a a tool for freedom, progress, and prosperity and not to do anything with where it could be even conceived as a conduit of suppression and censorship; to guarantee that the infrastructure of the future is built in a safe, transparent, and accountable way. United States is working with a range of partners including Australia and Japan to create the Blue Dart network initiative to ensure countries around the world have access to private sector-led sustainable options for high quality infrastructure development. I am optimistic that we can reach a (bilateral trade) deal that will be of a great significance to both countries. Yesterday, ExxonMobil reached an agreement to export more LNG (liquefied natural gas) to India. US is pleased to announce that the US International Development Finance Organisation will set up office in India. It will help entrepreneurship particularly among Indian women. The Prime Minister and I agreed to have a counter-narcotic working group to tackle the opioid crisis. Narendra Modi and President Donald Trump announce 'comprehensive global strategic partnership' in a joint conference

India and Australia on Thursday inked a landmark agreement for reciprocal access to military bases for logistics support besides firming up six more pacts to further broadbase ties after Prime Minister <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> and his Australian counterpart <keyword id="826044" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Scott-Morrison">Scott Morrison</keyword> held an online summit. The Mutual Logistics Support Agreement (MLSA) will allow militaries of the two countries to use each other's bases for repair and replenishment of supplies besides facilitating scaling up of overall defence cooperation. India has already signed similar agreements with the US, France and Singapore. The other pacts will provide for bilateral cooperation in areas of cyber and cyber-enabled critical technology, mining and minerals, military technology, vocational education and water resources management. In the talks, the two sides also deliberated on a host of key issues including dealing with growing threat of terrorism, maritime security challenges in the Indo-Pacific region, reform in the World Trade Organisation and ways to deal with the coronavirus crisis. According to a joint statement issued after the Modi-Morrison talks, both sides discussed the issue of taxation of offshore income of Indian firms through the use of the India-Australia Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA) and sought early resolution of the issue. It said both sides also decided to re-engage on a bilateral Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA) while suitably considering earlier bilateral discussions where a mutually agreed way forward can be found. The two countries recognised that terrorism remains a threat to peace and stability in the region and strongly condemned the menace in all its forms and manifestations, stressing that there can be no justification for acts of terror on any grounds whatsoever. The joint statement said both sides support a comprehensive approach in combating terrorism, including by countering violent extremism, preventing radicalisation, disrupting financial support to terrorists and facilitating prosecution of those involved in acts of terror. The two sides also called for early adoption of a Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism (CCIT). In his opening remarks, Modi also pitched for a coordinated and collaborative approach to come out of the adverse economic and social impact of the epidemic that has infected around 65 lakh people and killed 3.88 lakh globally. He said a process of comprehensive reforms covering almost all areas has been initiated in India as his government viewed the coronavirus crisis as an "opportunity". Referring to the virtual summit, the prime minister termed it "a new model of India-Australia partnership, a new model of conducting business". It was the first time that Modi held a "bilateral" virtual summit with a foreign leader. The prime minister described his talks with Morrison as "an outstanding discussion", covering the entire expanse of ties between the two strategic partners. "Our government has decided to view this crisis as an opportunity. In India, a process of comprehensive reforms has been initiated in almost all areas. It will soon see results at the ground level," the prime minister said. Modi also conveyed his appreciation to Morrison for taking care of the Indian community in Australia, especially the students during the "difficult time". In his remarks, Morrison complemented Modi for his "constructive and very positive" role including at the G-20 role in pushing for a concerted global approach in dealing with the coronavirus crisis. Modi said he believed that it is the "perfect time and perfect opportunity" to further strengthen the relationship between India and Australia. "We have immense possibilities to make our friendship stronger," Modi said, adding: "How our relations become a 'factor of stability' for our region and for the world, how we work together for global good, all these aspects need to be considered." The prime minister said India was committed to expand its relations with Australia on a wider and faster pace, noting that it is important not only for the two countries, but also for the Indo-Pacific region and the world. "The role of our comprehensive strategic partnership will be more important in this period of global epidemic. The world needs a coordinated and collaborative approach to get out of the economic and social side effects of this epidemic," he said. India and Australia ink landmark defence pact after Modi-Morrison online summit

Indian and Chinese troops are engaged in a tense border row in eastern Ladakh for nearly four months now. Singh and Wei are currently in Moscow to attend a meeting of SCO defence ministers on Friday. According to information, the Chinese side conveyed to the Indian mission its keenness to have a meeting between the two defence ministers. However, there is no official confirmation about it. Tensions flared in eastern Ladakh after China unsuccessfully attempted to occupy Indian territory in the Southern Bank of Pangong lake four days back when the two sides were engaged in diplomatic and military talks to resolve the festering border row. India occupied a number of strategic heights on the southern bank of Pangong lake and strengthened its presence in Finger 2 and Finger 3 areas in the region to thwart any Chinese actions. China has strongly objected to India's move. India has also rushed in additional troops and weapons to the sensitive region following the Chinese attempts. India on Thursday said the border tension in Ladakh over the past four months is a "direct result" of Chinese actions aimed at effecting unilateral change in the status quo of the region, and asserted that the only way forward to resolve it was through negotiations. The comments by the Ministry of External Affairs(MEA) that squarely put the blame on China for the prolonged border standoff came even as Chief of Defence Staff(CDS) Gen. Bipin Rawat asserted that India's armed forces are capable of handling aggressive Chinese actions in "best suitable ways".
