 The <keyword id="4328137" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="starbucks-reserve-programme">Starbucks Reserve Programme</keyword> is an ongoing series of the rarest and most exotic coffees which are unique, small-lot coffees that the company selects from all over the world. 
 Located at around 3,000 feet above sea level, <keyword id="4110132" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="nullore-estate">Nullore estate</keyword> is the largest Arabica plantation owned by the Tata—Starbucks’ joint venture partnership in India.

The 394-hectare estate produces over 500 tonnes of coffee every year. 
 
To put things into perspective, the first official ‘Indian coffee’ to be available through the brand: Starbucks was introduced in 2013, to celebrate the Tata-Starbucks first anniversary in the market. 
 
Starbucks had created a special India-sourced coffee, called ‘India Estates Blend’, as a tribute but it was sourced, roasted, packaged, and sold only in India. 
 But that was sourced from multiple coffee lots, unlike <keyword id="3694540" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="nullore">Nullore</keyword> Estate coffee which was is a 'Microlot coffee'. A Microlot is a small quantity coffee usually to about 40 bags, from a single estate that has been deliberately set aside from other coffee because it has a high 'cupping score which means better quality.

What makes ‘Block 19’special? 
 
For starters, this Arabica coffee is grown under a unique two-tier shade system under local and fruit bearing trees. 
 
The shade is carefully controlled, which helps the coffee bean mature slowly, allowing it to absorb its environment which gives it the special smell and taste. 
 
 
 
The Taste 
 
The coffee is intensely fragrant and aromatic, with notes of red apple, caramel, citrus, toasted nuts, and milk chocolate. 
This taste and smell is attributed to the flora and fauna that surrounds this 8-hectares estate. 
 
Trees like Ficus, Jackfruit, and Silver Oak surround the coffee plants giving the earthiness to the coffee. 
Block 19 is home to a colony of ‘fruit bats’ and migratory birds which are the main reason behind the coffee’s fruity persona. 
The estate also plays host to the honey bee.

Sunalini Menon, Asia’s first woman coffee expert has been credited for the experiential of deconstructing the Nullore Microlot. She closely worked on this micro lot that has put Indian coffee on the global map. 
 
She says that this coffee has opened up opportunities for the quality coffee that India produces now, ‘To nurture every particular bean to reach the best quality, the processing takes up the entire year. From the soil, to the climate to even pesticides, can affect the coffee bean and we took extra care to send out 2 tonnes of the Nullore estate coffee of which each bean was tested for quality before being shipped out to the US," she proudly exclaims.

1) Jobs Day. The BLS will release non-farm payrolls for August at 8:30 a.m. Consensus is for an increase of 230,000, up from the 209,000 in July. The consensus is for the unemployment rate to decrease to 6.1% in August from 6.2%. "Trends in labor market variables over the past month have shown little change, leading us to look for another month of solid job growth," Barclays says. "However, after a three-month bump in the pace of payroll growth, coinciding with the rebound in activity in Q2, we look for payroll growth to settle into a more consistent run rate in the second half of the year." Barclays also sees average hourly earnings climbing 0.2%, and the workweek to remain unchanged at 34.5 hours.
2) Tesla In Nevada: Billions And Billions. The numbers announced Thursday afternoon at a joint conference between Tesla and Nevada political leaders announcing the site of Tesla's battery production Gigafactory are staggering. First, Tesla is getting $1.25 billion in incentives over 20 years: no sales tax for 20 years, no property tax and payroll tax for 10 years, and tax credits tied to job creation and development, <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2014/09/05/business/energy-environment/nevada-a-winner-in-teslas-battery-contest.html">the New York Times' Matt Wald says</a>. The firm will also enjoy discount electricity rates for eight years and make millions of dollars in road improvements around the factory site, he writes. But Gov. Brian Sandoval says the total economic impact over the next 20 years will be $100 billion. The factory will cost $5 billion to build and employ up to 6,500 people.
3) Apple Beefing Up Security. <a href="http://online.wsj.com/articles/tim-cook-says-apple-to-add-security-alerts-for-icloud-users-1409880977?mod=WSJ_hpp_MIDDLENexttoWhatsNewsThird">In an interview with the Wall Street Journal's Daisuke Wakabayashi</a>, CEO Tim Cook said his company will now alert users on their phones and by email when it appears someone may be trying to illicitly change their iCloud password, restore their data to a new device or log in for the first time. He also explained how celebrities' accounts were compromised: "Hackers correctly answered security questions to obtain their passwords, or ... they were victimized by a phishing scam to obtain user IDs and passwords. He said none of the Apple IDs and passwords leaked from the company's servers." 
4) Huawei Gets Jump On iPhone 6. The Chinese electronics maker has released a sapphire glass display phone ahead of Apple's iPhone 6, which is also expected to include the technology. The material is more costly but more durable. Huawei's phone also has a fingerprint sensor, which was first seen on Apple's iPhone 5S. "Huawei, which began as a telecom equipment company in 1987, has rapidly transformed itself in recent years into the world's No. 3 smartphone maker behind Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. and Apple," <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/huawei-phone-release-2014-9#ixzz3CR36AmzR">Reuters says</a>. 5) Draghi's Goldilocks Problem. Yesterday ECB Chief Mario Draghi announced the bank would begin buying privately owned securities and lowering interest rates to ease monetary conditions in the Eurozone. But there was some dissension among ECB members on the decision, and some analysts say Draghi may have overly compromised on a policy that may now be too "just right," and not hot enough, to address the serious challenges the region's economy faces. "[As] far as I can see, the SME ABS programme is either going to be too small to make much difference, or is likely to encounter serious problems with loan quality at some point, putting the ECB's balance sheet at risk," <a href="http://coppolacomment.blogspot.co.uk/2014/09/dont-pin-all-your-hopes-on-sme-asset.html">financial writer Frances Coppola says. </a>
6) U.S. Inequality Has Worsened. The Federal Reserve <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/piketty-was-right-the-rich-get-richer-middle-class-suffer-2014-9">says</a> gains in income and wealth shares during the recovery have been largely concentrated among America's top-few income percentiles - a return to an underlying trend temporarily slowed by the recession. "Between 2010 and 2013, mean (overall average) family income rose 4% in real terms, but median income fell 5%, consistent with increasing income concentration during this period," they write. "Some of the 2010 to 2013 growth differential reflected a return to trend, after the cyclical narrowing of the income distribution between 2007 and 2010, when large decreases in top incomes associated with the recent financial crisis reduced mean family income more than median family income. Families at the bottom of the income distribution saw continued substantial declines in average real incomes between 2010 and 2013, continuing the trend observed between the 2007 and 2010 surveys."
7) Why BP Shares Tanked. Yesterday the London-based oil giant was found grossly negligent in the 2010 Deepwater Horizon Gulf of Mexico disaster, which killed 11 people, injured 16, and forced BP into a $13 billion settlement with claims victims. Despite BP having already taken a $43 billion charge to cover all legal expenses, shares fell nearly 6% on the ruling. <a href="http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/acc48e74-3449-11e4-8039-00144feabdc0.html">The FT's Ed Crooks and Guy Chazan explain why</a>: "For some BP shareholders, Judge Barbier's ruling was dismaying. 'The market had been pretty sanguine that BP would not be found grossly negligent," said Will Riley, co-manager of the Guinness Global Energy Fund. 'We weren't expecting this.' Charles Whall, co-portfolio manager for Global Energy Fund at Investec Asset Management, said investors had 'taken some encouragement' from Halliburton's <a href="http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/d93a03fc-32ab-11e4-93c6-00144feabdc0.html?siteedition=uk" title="Halliburton agrees $1.1bn Gulf of Mexico spill deal - FT.com">$1.1bn settlement</a> with the Department of Justice this week. 'Most people will be caught off-guard by this,' he said. 'They thought there'd be room for negotiation.'"
8) Starbucks Shrinking, Upscaling Stores. The Seattle beanroasters say they will open express editions of their outlets in New York City early next year. "The company said the New York store would be small and convenient, with a limited food and beverage menu," <a href="http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/09/05/us-starbucks-stores-idUSKBN0H00V120140905">Reuters says</a>. "It will use digital payment and mobile ordering to speed up service. Starbucks declined to say how many express stores are planned." Starbucks will also open 100 "Reserve Roastery and Tasting Room" shops for a more refined coffee drinking experience. "Starbucks said it plans to open a 'first of its kind' 15,000-square-foot small-batch reserve roastery in the hipster Capitol Hill neighborhood of its Seattle home market in December," Reuters says. "The company will consolidate roasting of its reserve offerings, including Geisha and Jamaica Blue Mountain, in the facility, which will house a store, a tasting room and a cafe devoted to its reserve coffees."
9) Markets. Stocks are down around the world. Hong Kong's Hang Seng was off 0.2%. London's FTSE fell 0.66%. U.S. futures declined 0.3%.

<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div></div></div>Today, programming software company Mashape announces a $18 million investment, led by famed Silicon Valley firm Andreesen Horowitz. Andreessen Horowitz general partner Martin Casado, who cofounded networking startup Nicira before <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/vmware-buys-nicira-for-126-billion-2012-7">VMware gobbled it up in 2012 for $1.26 billion</a>, will also join Mashape's board.Today, Mashape is going strong, with 25 employees. And teams at companies like Amazon, Spotify, and Target are using Mashape's flagship Kong software to build their apps in more modern ways. Better yet, as of December 2016, Marietti says, Mashape is cash flow positive, after raising a relatively meager $8.1 million in venture funding over the years. But before we go into what Mashape will do with this money, let's step back and look at how this company got here. It's a story of determination and dumb luck - even Casado says that one of the things he most admires about the Mashape founders is "the amount of sacrifice that they did" to get where they are today."You walk along a hard road as a company," says Mashape CEO Augusto Marietti.Indeed, in a very real way, if it weren't for Uber CEO Travis Kalanick and Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky, the leaders of Silicon Valley's two most prominent startups, and a willingness to rough it out when they were broke, Mashape might not exist.<h2>The Uber-Airbnb connection</h2>It was 2009, and 18-year-olds Augusto Marietti and Marco Palladino had come from Milan to San Francisco's TechCrunch 50 conference with a demo of a website that could mash up data sources...and very little else. An entrepreneur named Travis Kalanick (yes, the future <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/travis-kalanick-and-mark-zuckerberg-played-ping-pong-at-a-babes-and-balls-party-2017-3">Uber CEO</a>) made the trip possible when he picked Marietti and Palladino from a crowd of 30 or so applicants to<a href="https://swooshing.wordpress.com/2009/08/20/couchsurfing-for-the-techcrunch50/"> crash free of charge at his "Jampad"</a> - his <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/uber-ceo-hosted-jam-sessions-at-his-home-for-entrepreneurs-to-hash-out-business-ideas-2015-9">large San Francisco home, which doubled as a hangout and meeting spot for the local startup scene</a> - for 10 days during the event."I don't know why he picked us, but he picked us," says Marietti.<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div></div></div>The event didn't result in the funding they were looking for, but the Mashape team wasn't discouraged. Besides, they had made a powerful friend, which would come in handy later. They flew back and forth between Italy and San Francisco, hustling for funding.At this point, they were teetering on broke. They ate rice and beans, took meetings at Starbucks, and shared the same bed in the cheap Airbnb rooms they found. Once, Marietti says, they ended up sleeping on benches in San Francisco's Dolores Park because they had nowhere else to stay. Still, they had another fortuitous encounter when their Airbnb fandom resulted in them crashing at Airbnb's headquarters - which at the time was really just 8 guys sharing a house in San Francisco. There, Marietti got to watch Airbnb cofounders Brian Chesky and Joe Gebbia at work, internalizing their focus on building communities. <div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div></div></div>Chesky and Gebbia, too, acted as mentors for the young Mashape team. The biggest lesson Marietti learned from the Airbnb founders: A competitor can replicate your product's features. But if you have a dedicated community of users, well, that's "very, very hard to copy."<h2>Turning point</h2>The real turning point would come in April of 2010, when Mashape finally found a group of early YouTube employees who might be willing to make a small investment. Kalanick offered the Jampad's living room as a meeting spot, and even sat on Marietti's side of the table during negotiations.When one group of investors said they might be interested, but they needed to sleep on a decision, Kalanick pushed Marietti into taking a more hard-line stance, telling Marietti that "if they leave, you're never going to see them again." <div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div></div></div>Kalanick instead told the investors that they had five minutes to talk privately and make a decision, or else Mashape would walk away. A handshake deal was struck for a little over $100,000, and the Mashape team, which only had <a href="http://blog.mashape.com/mashape-got-funding/">$2,000 in the bank</a> at this point between then, was saved. "That saved us, literally," Marietti says. "We wouldn't be here without Travis."It was hard enough in 2010, Marietti says. Nowadays, he says, there are more and more startups vying for attention, and he's not confident they could do it again. "I probably wouldn't survive if I had to do it now," Marietti says.<h2>So what does Mashape do?</h2>Mashape is riding the wave that programmers call "<a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/what-are-microservices-2015-6">microservices</a>," where you take one big, monolithic, complex piece of software and break it down into multiple simple little ones. Those little bits then talk to each other via a method called APIs, or application programming interfaces. With microservices, if you're trying to build a new website, mobile app, Amazon Alexa skill, or smart refrigerator, programmers can just build the vast majority of the software from the figurative Lego bricks they already have, rather than start over from scratch. It's an approach pioneered at companies like Amazon and PayPal.<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div></div></div>Marietti describes this as a "shapeless" approach to software development, where the same code can be reused across platforms old and new. And he says that, as "elephants" among the Fortune 500 and their ilk start to accelerate their software strategies, they're turning to Kong to help them manage and secure their microservices architectures."They're the elephants going through a transition," says Marietti. "They have a very complex need."That's why Marietti is raising the funding now, despite Mashape's recent turn towards profitability. He sees a big chance to build out Mashape's profile among big companies, positioning Kong as a big way to help them move into the future.<h2>Bits into atoms</h2>From the perspective of Andreessen Horowitz's Martin Casado, Mashape is playing into a bigger trend entirely. To go back to Travis Kalanick, much of Uber's strategy hinges on the usage of APIs: When you hail an Uber via Google Maps, that's Google's code "talking" to Uber via an API. Similarly, when you use an Amazon Echo to play a Spotify song, Alexa "asks" Spotify for the song via API.Now, Casado says, there are APIs that let you do everything from send text messages, to reserving warehouse space, to sending snail mail via USPS. It's not just apps and services that are being affected; it's the physical world.<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div></div></div>"Any service that exists, there's a way to programmatically control it," Casado says.So as software just keeps on eating the world, Casado says, there's going to be even more demand for software like Mashape's Kong, which can help company manage this exploding world of APIs. And as it is, he says, Kong is already the most popular software of its type out there.
