Humanoid robot Sophia is entering the metaverse with ‘intelligent’ NFTs

The national capital on Sunday reported the first case of new <keyword id="8764262" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="covid" source="Orion">Covid</keyword> variant <keyword id="1609796" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="omicron" source="Orion">Omicron</keyword>. The patient has been found positive for the Omicron variant in a preliminary report. With the first case in Delhi, the total cases of Omicron variant has climbed to five in India. The first two cases of Omicron variant were reported from Karnataka. The third and the fourth cases were found in Gujarat and Maharashtra respectively on Saturday. Delhi Health Minister <keyword id="6378951" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="satyendra-jain" source="Orion">Satyendra Jain</keyword> said on Sunday that the results of 12 samples, which were sent for genome sequencing, have come out. Out of the total 12, only one has been confirmed for the Omicron variant. The other 11 have tested positive for normal Covid. He said that all passengers landing at the airport are being tested and so far 17 positive have been found. He added that a total of 17 positive for Covid and their secondary contacts of six persons have been admitted in the isolation wards of the <keyword id="107366" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="lnjp" source="Orion">LNJP</keyword> hospital. He said that the one, who has been found positive for Omicron variant, has been admitted separately in the isolation ward. The response measures for all variants of concern, including Omicron is the same as that for SARs CoV2, as per the health ministry. The ministry has said that the precautions and steps to be taken remain the same as before. "It is essential to mask yourself properly, take both doses of vaccines (if not yet vaccinated), maintain social distancing and maintain good ventilation to the maximum possible", said the ministry in a statement on Friday. Delhi reports first case of the new Omicron COVID-19 strain

"There were growing expectations that in the December MPC meeting, the <keyword id="30067" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="rbi" source="Orion">RBI</keyword> would hike the reverse repo rate to narrow the corridor between repo and reverse repo rate. However, the new Covid variant 'Omicron' has again pushed the global and Indian economy in a state of uncertainty and nervousness," said <keyword id="12240451" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rajani-Sinha" source="Orion">Rajani Sinha</keyword>, <keyword id="69755" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Chief-Economist" source="Orion">Chief Economist</keyword> and National Director, Research, at Knight Frank India. "There is also added uncertainty of any knee-jerk reaction of Indian and global financial markets to (the US) Fed's monetary policy indication/action." In such a scenario, the RBI, in its upcoming meeting, is likely to keep the rates on hold, Sinha said. "On the growth front, while most economic indicators have surpassed pre-Covid levels, there is still a lot of slack in the economy. Hence RBI may decide to wait and watch till the next MPC meeting in February 2022," Sinha said. At present, the Monetary Policy Committee of the central bank has maintained the repo rate, or short-term lending rate, for commercial banks, at 4 per cent. Besides, the reverse repo rate was kept unchanged at 3.35 per cent. "Given the uncertainty from the new variant, we maintain our call for a reverse repo rate hike in the February RBI MPC meeting rather than in the upcoming December meeting," Kotak Securities said. "We expect the RBI to continue on its path of normalisation with the reverse repo rate hike in February policy and repo rate hike in mid-FY23. "Furthermore, base effect, along with relatively lower food prices, have eased India's October retail inflation on a sequential, and year-on-year basis. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) was 4.48 per cent in October from 4.35 per cent in September. Even on YoY basis, October 2021 retail inflation was lower than 7.61 per cent recorded for October 2020.
