The Australian financial year starts on July 1 and ends on June 30, which means that employees have been laid off for a period of two and half months during which it is impossible to have any sporting activity with no chance of normalcy around the corner. "We have made the decision during this period of isolation, where activity has naturally been reduced, to stand down our people on reduced pay (with the exception of a skeleton staff) effective 27 April for the remainder of the financial year," CA said in a statement. "We are conscious of the impact this will have on Australian Cricket and are working hard to manage that proactively," it added. The community has shown some real ingenuity, most recently discovering a glitch in popular app Robinhood - the most cited brokerage on the sub-Reddit -that users said gave them <a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/robinhood-infinite-leverage-free-money-hall-of-fame-position-amounts-2019-11-1028670517">infinite leverage</a>. Rogozinski said criticism of WallStreetBets for the type of aggressive trading it promotes is hypocritical when considering how Wall Street operates. The guys that are on Wall Street, they do it too. They use bigger accounts," Rogozinski said. "WallStreetBets gets a bad rap because they don't try and hide it, and they're not ashamed of it." The venue for the event, Esports Stadium Arlington, is the largest dedicated esports facility in North America with a capacity of 2,500 people. Sponsorships for the event, including the to-be-named brokerage used by all contestants, will also provide some revenue. However, the main revenue driver will be pay-per-view sales of the event, Rogozinski said. He declined to disclose the cost of streaming the event, but said it will be "very reasonable."Other details regarding the event are still tentative. The selection process, which Rogozinski said will take place in the coming months, wasn't disclosed. This has been the weirdest of all presidential campaigns — hardly a campaign at all. Joe Biden, who seemingly has not left his basement since March, has quietly issued extraordinarily vast and progressive policy proposals. President Trump meanwhile has been talking about all kinds of weird things, notably <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-again-brings-up-cognitive-test-in-new-interview-2020-7">the dementia test</a> he took and the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-not-playing-dictator-anymore-orange-man-good-portland-chicago-2020-7">urban invasions he is ordering</a>. The pandemic rages, recession shadows the country, and Americans have scarcely noticed that we've entered a very, very cold war with China. It promises to be a strange and sad sprint to November. Here are the eight things we'll be watching in the next 100 days.<ol><li>How do the mechanics of voting look? Republicans fear a surge in Democratic voters animated by Trump-hatred, and the GOP and Trump campaign are maneuvering to make voting difficult. Is the pandemic hot enough that it will prevent in-person voting? Is mail-in balloting working smoothly, or are there legal and technical obstacles? A war, a terrorist attack, Russian or Chinese mischief, the death of a Supreme Court Justice….the possibilities are endless, and could alter the polls. </li><li>Who's defending the legitimacy of the election?: Will key Republican officials and judges emphasize in advance that they'll accept the results and the integrity of the vote, nipping in the bid a potential Trump challenge? — DP</li></ol>How did Democrats get more unified than Republicans?<div type="image" title="Donald trump mcconnell schumer pelosi" height="999" width="1998" msid="77157681" hostid="261"></div>Talk about weirdness 100 days before election day — if you'd have told me that at this point Democrats would be more unified as a party than Republicans, I'm not sure I would've believed you.As the Democratic campaign began last year, there was concern that a more progressive candidate would secure the nomination, handing <keyword id="6354484" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Donald-Trump">Donald Trump</keyword> a win as moderate voters shied away. Then, when Biden won the nomination, Democrats worried about a Bernie Bro rebellion. And there have long been whispers that the AOC-type progressives in Congress would become the same kind of annoyance to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi that the Tea Party was to former House Speaker John Boehner during the Obama administration. None of that happened. Biden is staying quiet, and the Bernie Bros don't seem to have much to say about him either. In Congress, Pelosi has her party marching with her in lock step.One cannot say the same for Trump's Republicans. Usually unified to the point of fusion, the GOP right now is engaged in a Dickensian fight over how much to <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/gop-trump-coronavirus-relief-bill-us-economy-fantasy-land-2020-7">cut coronavirus unemployment benefits</a> while cases are skyrocketing across the country. In a meeting this week <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/21/us/politics/congress-coronavirus-stimulus-bill.html?campaign_id=4&amp;emc=edit_dk_20200722&amp;instance_id=20515&amp;nl=dealbook&amp;regi_id=68634207&amp;segment_id=34040&amp;te=1&amp;user_id=718e2ec3a644adacc4c894b15e78911f2ec3a644adacc4c894b15e78911f">reported</a> by the New York Times only 86-year-old Senator Chuck Grassley had the sense to say sending payments to hurting Americans right before an election might be a good idea (if you want to, you know, win). The rest of the party's younger members kept trying to outdo each other with how ideologically pure they could be by cutting spending, <a href="https://www.epi.org/blog/cutting-off-the-600-boost-to-unemployment-benefits-would-be-both-cruel-and-bad-economics-new-personal-income-data-show-just-how-steep-the-coming-fiscal-cliff-will-be/">the economy be damned</a>. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell was supposed to present his proposal to Democrats on this matter today, but his party cannot agree, so now his homework is late.And then there are the Senate races. Trump's declining popularity has put the Senate in play. Democrats look likely to hold all their seats except for Doug Jones' in Alabama. Republicans look likely to lose Martha McSally in Arizona. And besides that, <a href="https://cookpolitical.com/ratings/senate-race-ratings">a whopping six Republican-held Senate seats</a> are in play, including Susan Collins in Maine and Thom Tillis in North Carolina. He wasn't elected to carry on the mythology of the Oval Office, he was put there to burn it down. And yet, whenever he does something wholly unremarkable for a US president — like <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/02/05/trump-won-big-with-his-state-union-weve-seen-this-all-before/">read off a teleprompter</a> or <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/327779-cnn-host-donald-trump-became-president-last-night">unilaterally bomb a foreign country</a> — the pundit chorus belts out a collective refrain that this is the moment when Trump truly became president. In an alternate reality where the president is actually seen as the public servant they are, "presidential" would signify a chief executive putting the interests of the country over their own political survival. That's why Trump — certainly unwittingly — became presidential yesterday.After Charlotte refused to allow mass gatherings for the RNC, Trump took his party and moved it to Jacksonville. But now that Florida is the nation's coronavirus epicenter, Trump came to the belated realization that holding a totally unnecessary three-day campaign rally there is dangerously irresponsible and sends the absolute wrong message to a country where the virus continues to spread with abandon.Trump wanted his yuge event to project "strength" compared to the stripped-down Democrats convention-by-Zoom. His aides reportedly convinced him that the negative press he'd attract for hosting a potential super-spreader event would be a net loss. So even though Trump did ultimately act in his own self-interest, there's nothing he's enjoyed more about the presidency than giving rambling incoherent speeches before adoring throngs of registered voters. If it were any other owner, you'd say it makes sense to take time to do the rebranding right. The ability to connect to more people also opens up a number of new digital revenue streams for musicians."Musicians and entertainers largely rely on live performances and touring as a means of financial survival. In the year before the pandemic, the US live music business reached nearly $8 billion in ticket sales, trailing slightly behind recorded music, which came in at $11 billion, <a href="https://www.musicwatchinc.com/blog/its-still-rock-n-roll-to-me/">as found in a report published by Music Watch</a>. The live music streaming industry is expected to generate $6.4 billion by 2027, according to MIDiA Research. Professionally livestreamed concerts allow musicians to reach a much larger audience, and through supplemental digital-only concerts that are executed and marketed compellingly, artists can collect additional revenue on Spotify and other music distribution services when live gigs aren't an option. It's a domino effect - digital-only concerts promote engagement with the artists, bouncing their songs back into the charts, and in turn stimulating the demand for live in-person events, Hesse said. Through DREAMSTAGE's integrated platform, artists can sell tickets, merchandise, and VIP experiences, as well as raise donations for charities, with the company taking a platform fee that varies according to the individual deal. Performances can be viewed via the Apple TV app, "with the big screen being the medium of choice, accompanied by great sound and picture," Hesse said. The company plans on delivering mobile apps for iOS and Android in the near future, but in the meantime, performances and interactive features can be accessed on DREAMSTAGE's website on any device. While the pandemic was the catalyst for DREAMSTAGE, the real appeal to DREAMSTAGE lies in its longevity. The co-creator of video hosting service Vevo and former Sony Music President of Global Digital Business, Hesse is no stranger to the recorded music industry and music video space. He spearheaded Sony Music's merger with BMG and was responsible for driving the transformation of recorded music to streaming. It also helps that Hesse is a trained concert pianist, having studied at major concert halls in Austria and Germany. "DREAMSTAGE, in a way, creates a new format that's a hybrid between a music video and a live performance," Hesse said. He calls this the "Live Music Video," which he hopes will one day compete with Netflix as its own form of appointment TV. "We're not really competing with people going to the concert a few times a year, which they will do," Hesse said. "That's a big thing; you have to get tickets which are more expensive than an online ticket, you need to get a babysitter, get the car out, drive to the venue, park the car - it's not something you do on a weekday night."If your favorite artist is performing in a different town, it's easy to just buy the ticket in one click on your mobile and watch it on your TV, he explained. (Both Stephen Jackson and DeSean Jackson have also expressed support for Farrakhan; Stephen Jackson commented, "Love u bro" to Iverson. )The incidents, though varied in nature and intent, have raised questions about possible underground veins of <keyword id="135025" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="anti-Semitism">anti-Semitism</keyword> in the NBA — or perhaps simply an indifference to the issue.The aftermath of these statements stands in stark contrast to NBA players' resounding response to the death of George Floyd and vocal involvement in the Black Lives Matter movement. That juxtaposition has led some basketball fans to wonder why calls to denounce anti-Semitism have gone mostly unanswered in the NBA.<h2>Silence from the NBA community</h2>Outrage and a slew of statements condemning hate speech would normally be expected following anti-Semitic incidents. But NBA Hall of Famer <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/kareem-abdul-jabbar-is-outrage-anti-semitism-sports-hollywood-1303210">Kareem Abdul-Jabbar wrote</a> in The Hollywood Reporter that the absence of such responses — what he called a "lack of massive indignation" — highlighted a problem in the <keyword id="6356028" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="sports">sports</keyword> world."Recent incidents of anti-Semitic tweets and posts from sports and entertainment celebrities are a very troubling omen for the future of the Black Lives Matter movement, but so too is the shocking lack of massive indignation," Abdul-Jabbar wrote. "Given the New Woke-fulness in Hollywood and the sports world, we expected more passionate public outrage. What we got was a shrug of meh-rage."A few prominent voices have spoken out about DeSean and Stephen Jackson's comments: Boston Celtics players Enes Kanter and Jaylen Brown both suggested that players should educate themselves on issues before speaking. And New England Patriots wide receiver <a href="https://www.insider.com/julian-edelman-on-desean-jackson-anti-semitic-posts-holocaust-museum-2020-7">Julian Edelman</a> (who is Jewish) and Pittsburgh Steelers offensive tackle Zach Banner both responded to anti-Semitic statements, too.But that paled in comparison to the response <a href="https://www.insider.com/drew-brees-comments-standing-for-flag-criticized-nfl-players-2020-6">Drew Brees got when he said</a> it was disrespectful to kneel during the national anthem, after which athletes across the NFL and NBA pointed out problems with the statement. <div type="image" title="stephen jackson lebron james" height="861" width="1148" msid="77052251" hostid="261"></div>LeBron James' silence is particularly notable this month, since he was criticized in 2018 for quoting lyrics from 21 Savage's song "ASMR" on his Instagram story, writing: "We been getting that Jewish money, Everything is Kosher."James later apologized, saying he didn't realize the lyrics were offensive and perpetuated Jewish stereotypes.James is friends with Dwyane Wade and was also <a href="https://www.insider.com/lebron-james-texted-stephen-jackson-after-george-floyds-death-2020-6">in communication with Stephen Jackson</a> following the death of Floyd — James offered support when Jackson protested in Minneapolis. But he did not speak up publicly following their recent comments.The NBA as a league is in a precarious place over these incidents. The Philadelphia Eagle issued a statement on DeSean Jackson's posts, calling them "appalling." But because Wade and Stephen Jackson are former players, issuing a statement on their comments risks creating a standard of commenting on anything a former player says.There is precedent when it comes to former players, however. <a href="https://theathletic.com/1929668/">As The Athletic noted</a>, the NBA banned Tim Hardaway from the 2007 All-Star Game after Hardaway made homophobic comments. However, Hardaway was scheduled to take part in league-sponsored events.The NBA did not respond to a request for comment for this story.<h2>'They are a minority as well'</h2>In his response to DeSean Jackson's posts, Banner said he thinks some members of the Black community can occasionally be naive about anti-Semitism.<div type="image" title="zach banner" height="946" width="1262" msid="77052256" hostid="261"></div>"There's a common misbelief that among Black and Brown people ... that Jewish people are just like any other white race. You know, you mix them up with the rest of the majority and you don't understand that they are a minority as well," Banner said.He added: "We need to understand that Jewish people deal with the same amount of hate and similar hardships and hard times ... A series of tweets and statements have raised questions about veins of anti-Semitism and silence in the NBA

<ul class="summary-list"><li>The biggest stars of 2020 are kids who have gone viral on <keyword id="6354632" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="social-media">social media</keyword>. </li><li>Experts say these young influencers are even more at risk for developing problems than previous generations of <keyword id="1738504" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Child-Stars">child stars</keyword>, as their lives are constantly broadcast (and observed by) millions worldwide. </li><li>With social media, people have become obsessed with their own visibility. Whether they're aware of it or not, influencers are constantly fighting to be seen and battling that "threat of invisibility," said Ciarán Mc Mahon, PhD, the author of <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Psychology-Social-Media-Everything/dp/1138047759">"The Psychology of Social Media."</a></li><li>Child stars often become addicted to fame, and thousands of influencers fighting for attention may be extremely disappointed when they are one day unable to keep it up. </li></ul>In 1968, Andy Warhol predicted that in the future, "everyone will be world famous for 15 minutes." He was right, and that was before <keyword id="6762469" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="TikTok">TikTok</keyword>, where all it takes to blow up is an iPhone and a pretty face. But Warhol couldn't have predicted that TikTok's algorithm would quickly sweep up a huge group of children, making them some of the most famous people in the world in the blink of an eye.The most-followed creator on TikTok, Charli D'Amelio, turned 16 on May 1. Loren Gray, whom D'Amelio recently overtook for the top spot on the short-form video platform, turned 18 in April.The young age of the app's biggest stars was on full display <a href="https://www.insider.com/tiktokalypse-tiktok-drama-chase-hudson-lilhuddy-charli-damelio-2020-7">amid recent drama</a>, as D'Amelio and Chase Hudson, 18, fought over their relationship publicly on Twitter. A series of tweets from both of them implicated other TikTok megastars in the saga, too, including Josh Richards, 18, and Nessa Barrett, 17. Experts warn that these young influencers will face the typical hurdles of child fame, but with the additional complication of real-time social media surveillance by millions and an algorithmically programmed addiction to the instant gratification of a never-ending barrage of notifications. "We've had cases of child stars in different eras and different times. But this is a more enhanced and hyper version of that," Ciarán Mc Mahon, PhD, the author of <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Psychology-Social-Media-Everything/dp/1138047759">"The Psychology of Social Media</a>," told Insider. "I don't know how that will work out, but history would suggest that it's not going to be pretty." <blockquote class="tiktok-embed" cite="https://www.tiktok.com/@charlidamelio/video/6829792955398704389" data-video-id="6829792955398704389" style="max-width: 605px;min-width: 325px;"> <section> <a target="_blank" title="@charlidamelio" href="https://www.tiktok.com/@charlidamelio">@charlidamelio</a> <a target="_blank" title="♬ Break My Heart - Dua Lipa" href="https://www.tiktok.com/music/Break-My-Heart-6807639165665019906">♬ Break My Heart - Dua Lipa</a> </section> </blockquote> <h2>Adapting to life in the spotlight is hard enough for grownups. For young influencers, that is compounded with incessant social media attention.</h2>While the advent of social media apps like TikTok and Instagram have given the world more ways to connect, it's also changed the meaning of fame and reshaped the path to becoming a <keyword id="6355064" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Celebrity">celebrity</keyword>. Perhaps most notably is the fact that everyday children are so easily vaulted into the spotlight with little predictability."Your ability to assess risk, your ability to make some cognitive judgments to plan ahead — all of those things are cognitive skills that develop over that period of time," said media psychologist <a href="http://www.pamelarutledge.com/">Pamela Rutledge</a>, PhD, speaking about the period of life before 25, before the "rational" part of the brain is <a href="https://www.urmc.rochester.edu/encyclopedia/content.aspx?ContentTypeID=1&amp;ContentID=30513051">fully developed</a>. Experiencing fame during adolescence, Rutledge said, makes it even harder for celebrities to keep a handle on reality. "Everyone wants to be famous. But in fact, for most of us, that's not the real world." <div type="image" title="hype house" height="560" width="1120" msid="75945995" hostid="261"></div>These influencer-celebrities are at risk for the same challenges faced by traditional <keyword id="2370" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="hollywood">Hollywood</keyword> child stars, made infamous by the likes of Lindsay Lohan, Drew Barrymore, and Michael Jackson. "From the time I became famous in 'E.T.,' my life got really weird," <a href="https://people.com/archive/cover-story-the-secret-drew-barrymore-vol-31-no-2/">Barrymore told People in 1989 of her experience with child fame</a>. "One day I was a little girl, and the next day I was being mobbed by people who wanted me to sign my autograph or pose for pictures or who just wanted to touch me. It was frightening. I was this 7-year-old who was expected to be going on a mature 29."<div type="image" title="drew barrymore child fame" height="1024" width="679" msid="75945998" hostid="261"></div>Barrymore's experience of being thrust into the spotlight at a young age has been echoed by countless other child stars <a href="https://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-moms/pictures/troubled-stars-2010103/">throughout more than a century of Hollywood history</a> as early fame has led many to a host of problems, including <a href="https://www.today.com/popculture/drew-barrymore-opens-about-her-cocaine-use-relationship-mom-t137463">drug and alcohol abuse</a>, <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/pop-culture/pop-culture-news/amanda-bynes-seeking-treatment-mental-health-issues-lawyer-says-n1163276">mental illness</a>, and <a href="https://people.com/music/britney-spears-good-contact-sons-after-family-drama-happier/">familial struggles</a>. This is no hard-kept secret: It's been documented thoroughly by celebrity tabloids for years. It's also a phenomenon that has been studied by psychologists including Donna Rockwell, PhD, and David Giles, PhD, whose <a href="https://www.academia.edu/693083/Being_a_celebrity_The_phenomenology_of_fame">2009 article in the Journal of Phenomenological Psychology</a> identified "four temporal phases" in the mind of a celebrity: "love/hate, addiction, acceptance, and adaptation." "When a person becomes famous, there's so much attention on the famous person that, neurologically, they forget how to tune back out — in other words, how to have appropriate and <keyword id="6354750" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="health">health</keyword>y empathy for other people," Rockwell, a researcher and clinical psychologist who specializes in celebrity mental health, told Insider. "It isn't even a choice when it comes down to it. There's so much incoming attention that the neurons lose their memory on what's necessary, as far as in extending an empathetic outreach." Rockwell added that even "for the most grounded of people, getting swept up into the spotlight of fame is very difficult to withstand, to stay grounded. So for a child, it's 10 times more difficult. It's exponentially more challenging because they haven't even developed a full self yet."For children and teens, identity can easily morph and become lost in fame, with their notoriety becoming an engrained part of their personality. "It isn't like somebody is giving you a part to play in or writing a script for you. You're having to do this sort of creation all the time," said Rutledge. "At what point is it you, and at what point is it this persona that you've created?" <h2>The addiction to social media already poses a problem for most kids in Gen Z, whether they have 5 million followers or 500</h2><blockquote class="tiktok-embed" cite="https://www.tiktok.com/@thehypehouse/video/6803446773718273285" data-video-id="6803446773718273285" style="max-width: 605px;min-width: 325px;"> <section> <a target="_blank" title="@thehypehouse" href="https://www.tiktok.com/@thehypehouse">@thehypehouse</a> hype house lit @lilhuddy @nickaustinn @rylandstormss ib: @mattiapolibio <a target="_blank" title="♬ Roses - Imanbek Remix - SAINt JHN" href="https://www.tiktok.com/music/Roses-Imanbek-Remix-6738439639826287365">♬ Roses - Imanbek Remix - SAINt JHN</a> </section> </blockquote> According to <a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6502424/">"The 'online brain': how the Internet may be changing our cognition,"</a> published in the June 2019 edition of the World Psychiatry medical journal, social media attention of any kind can "directly quantify our social success (or failure), by providing clear metrics" such as likes, followers, and views. "Given the addictive nature of this immediate, self‐defining feedback, social media companies may even capitalize upon this to maximally engage users. However, growing evidence indicates that relying on online feedback for self‐esteem can have adverse effects on young people," the report found. When that quantified social success, or lack thereof, is magnified in the form of fame, it can be extremely difficult to find a sense of self-worth outside of that attention. With social media, people become obsessed with their own visibility. Whether they're aware of it or not, influencers are constantly fighting to be seen and battling this "threat of invisibility," Mc Mahon said."The algorithms that underlie practically every social media service today force us to compete for visibility," Mc Mahon said. "As such, these teenagers may now feel themselves in an extraordinary bind – competing against each other, and the newsfeed algorithms in order to maintain visibility, a competition in which only the social media services succeed."The concept of viral social media fame has become so ingrained in our society that it's almost natural for people to hope their next post will take off, Mc Mahon said. "I think most of us harbor a slight desire, and maybe an unconscious one, that 'this is the tweet that will go viral,'" he said. "Of course, for the vast majority of us, it isn't."<h2>Fame itself is one of the most addictive drugs of all — and it's the perpetual need to chase that high that can lead celebrities down a troubled path</h2>Many child celebrities turn to drug use and alcohol because of their need to satisfy an addiction to fame. "You get a physiological reward when people like you. It triggers your reward system. And so if you lose that, then you start looking for other means of triggering that," Rutledge said, explaining that becoming addicted to fame leaves you "vulnerable" to other drugs. Both Rutledge and Mc Mahon compared this phenomenon to the experience of a singer performing for a stadium of fans. They become high off of that energy. "It's an incredible feeling," Mc Mahon said of fame. But at the end of the night, they go back to their hotel room, and they're often alone. "There's always a risk if there's that vulnerability, if you really are feeding off that fandom as something that's fueling you rather than a fueling of a sort of a larger life goal that you have," Rutledge said. Shia LaBoeuf, who recently wrote and starred in a film based on his own troubled experience as a child star, "Honey Boy," told <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/race/shia-labeouf-reflects-his-troubled-childhood-transformers-therapy-rising-again-honey-boy-1250660">The Hollywood Reporter</a> last year that he had become "addicted to that kudos" celebrities are inundated with. "It kind of fueled my way of working for a long time — just pining your own pain, and holding on to it, and not really ever dealing with it or questioning it, but just keeping it in a little bottle that you can pop the top on whenever it's needed, when the switch needs to be flipped," he said. <div type="image" title="shia labeouf child fame" height="932" width="1024" msid="75946000" hostid="261"></div>Beyond drug and alcohol use, which <a href="https://www.esquire.com/entertainment/movies/a19181320/shia-labeouf-interview-2018/">LaBoeuf has struggled with</a>, that constant attention can give people an altered sense of empathy. There's an "uneven give and take" with fame, where fans of a celebrity can fawn over this public figure, Rockwell said. "When people have a lot of attention put on them — child stars, social media influencers — all of that attention can lead to acquired situational narcissism, ASN, even if that person had all the love and adequate mirroring in their early life as they possibly could have wished for." Danny Bonaduce, one of the child stars interviewed for Rockwell's research, was a huge star in the 1970s for his role in the hit sitcom "The Partridge Family." Bonaduce, who is now 60, has spoken publicly about his drug use. "He says that he's been addicted to almost every substance known to man, and the most addictive of all of them is fame itself," Rockwell said of Bonaduce's self-reporting for her study. Still, Rockwell said Bonaduce and others she interviewed in her research have said they wouldn't give up their fame, and the access and opportunities that came along with it. "It's hard to give that up in the end," Rockwell said.<div type="image" title="danny bonaduce partridge family" height="517" width="689" msid="75946003" hostid="261"></div>Fame's ephemeral nature is heightened on social media, where new videos and teens go viral every minute. There are thousands of teens around the world who are "famous" on platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, and most of them will not be able to uphold that level of fame for long. "The <keyword id="15482" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="lifestyle">lifestyle</keyword> that they're currently engaging is probably very enjoyable, it's very exciting and stimulating. They must know in their heart of hearts that they can't continue like that for a very long period of time," Mc Mahon said. "My advice to them would be, quite simply, to think about their exit plan." <h2>Experts say the best way to be well-adjusted while in the spotlight is to use your influence 'for good'</h2>Many influencers have already perhaps unintentionally discovered what experts say is the best way to protect oneself against the dangers of fame. By using influence to help the world and raise awareness about causes you're passionate about, you're actually establishing a deeper sense of who you are as a person. "If you're using your celebrity for good, you can actually come out of it better because you are developing an internal self," Rockwell said. "You are being someone that you can be proud of. You are living out your values." One example of this is the teenager who <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2019/nov/27/tiktok-makeup-tutorial-conceals-call-to-action-on-chinas-treatment-of-uighurs">filmed makeup tutorials on TikTok </a>while talking about China's treatment of Muslims as they work in internment camps in Xinjian. And both Charli and Dixie D'Amelio, two of the most famous people on TikTok, have already <a href="https://www.insider.com/charli-dixie-damelio-tik-tok-biggest-stars-cyberbullying-video-2020-2">participated in multiple efforts to help the collective good</a>, including a recent anti-bullying project with Unicef and <a href="https://www.insider.com/charli-damelio-hits-back-at-people-commenting-on-her-body-2020-4">promoting body positivity</a>. Dixie D'Amelio <a href="https://www.insider.com/dixie-damelio-interview-profile-tiktok-fame-charli-2020-4">told Insider in a previous interview</a> that she loves using her platform to "raise awareness and money for good causes." <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/-jFYPyC9n_0" frameborder="0"></iframe>Research suggests that kids who take advantage of that opportunity in a positive way can lead to better-adjusted adult lives, something that all psychologists interviewed for this piece agreed on. But the onus is also on parents of these kids to keep them grounded, Mc Mahon said, though that is another challenge in and of itself. Certain measures, like a parent trying to take away their kid's phone, will likely "backfire," especially during a time like the coronavirus pandemic when everyone is stuck inside the home. "There has to be reasoned and careful conversations around these things," Mc Mahon said. Rockwell said she recommends child stars work with coaches and therapists "to help the child remain grounded and stay centered so they can withstand this impact of fame." Still, there's another group who holds some responsibility here: the general public. "There's also a responsibility on the rest of us who are consuming the content that they produce and what exactly we're rewarding," Mc Mahon said.
