	Boss first, others next 
	 
	If you have decided to leave, be graceful and speak to your boss first. It is both professional and wise to put your resignation down in writing only after your boss has given the go ahead. This gives him time and space to process the information, plan the next steps and even make a counter offer. Ask how your exit should be communicated to others and let him or her decide what works best. If the firm has down sized you, your boss is already in the picture. Seek his inputs and views on what happened and what could have been done. 
	 
	It’s about work not play 
	 
	Once your departure from the company and last working day is confirmed, you can make your plans. Act with dignity as you are still in employment. Your reputation will depend on how you behave now. Be professional and avoid the folly of mentally checking out of your office during your notice period. Maintain your professional routine. Discuss and negotiate work expectations with your boss and team and then exceed expectations in both scope and deadlines. If you need time off during this period, reassure the firm on your commitments. 
	 
	Knowledge transfer 
	 
	Your employer may want you to complete all existing projects before you leave. However, given the limited duration of your notice period vis-à-vis the length of the project, that may not be practical. A more reasonable expectation is a full knowledge transfer to the person or team that will take over your role and responsibilities. Start off with meeting your replacement and setting an agenda for handing over information. Introduce your replacement to your team, clients and vendors and formally inform them of the change in role. Share details of your weekly progress with your boss and make sure other stake holders, including accounts and HR, are also in the loop. A great knowledge transfer will continue to burnish your reputation after you leave. 
	 
	Thank yous and byes 
	 Apart from official requirements, take time out for the professional relationships you have built. Make a list of people you need to thank personally or writing an email. <keyword id="54921" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="40" keywordseo="spread">Spread</keyword> out your communication over the last two weeks so that you do not miss out in the final days. Prepare a nice farewell speech in case your team gives you a formal send-off party. Leave out the unpleasant memories while you share achievements, contributions by others and stories of your personal growth. People won’t remember what you said but they will remember how you made them feel. So be gracious and exit on a high because your future employers will speak to former colleagues when they run a verification check on you for senior roles.

	Garden leave 
	 
	If you are a banker or working at a strategic level then you might be asked to go on garden leave. Here you are expected to stay at home and not join another firm for a couple of months. This ensures the strategic value of the information that you hold degrades with the passage of time and is of lesser use to competitors who may employ you. When you are on garden leave, remember that you are on contract with your present employer and thus legally bound not to work or share your information or skills with any other firm. 
	 
	Plan the future 
	 You may have a job offer in hand and can choose to use your spare time to try and get something better. If you do not have an offer and need a job, then <keyword id="47916" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="40" keywordseo="invest">invest</keyword> most of your time in your job search. If you have an interview that clashes with work hours, your present employer is likely to grant leave and support you in your job search. Finally, you may choose to upgrade your skills or study further. Use this time to explore your options and plan your finances for the study break. 
	 
	Dont's 
 
 
1) Blab about your plans - People really do not want to know about the awesome salary and your new job offer or the monthlong international vacation that you are planning. Politely sidestep conversations about your future and avoid becoming a magnet for negativity or gossip. 
 
2) Junk the present - Squealing about your colleagues to your boss or trashing your boss within your team will not sit well with your image once you leave. Similarly, resist the temptation to bring a long list of your complaints to the exit interview. Whenever in doubt, choose the moral and social high ground. 
 
3) Leave trash behind - Clean out your desk completely the day before you leave. At least a week before, collect all the books and trinkets you have loaned to friends. With a month left, pursue all shared party bills and inter-personal loans to their completion. 
 
4) Carry data or materials - Any company data or materials that are in your possession after you leave will technically be "stealing". Hand over your company email password, pen drives, laptop, data and confidential documents to the right people. Check your personal devices for any data that you may have inadvertently transferred. 
 
5) Don’t shut the door - All doors that you slam on your way out will invariably be locked in case you need to return. Keep relationships and communication amicable with your company, boss, HR and colleagues. Treat them with respect for you will definitely cross paths with some of them.

They're more closely related to ticks than they are to insects like mosquitoes.While researchers aren't yet certain that these creatures are spreading the same meat allergy, a growing number of patient reports indicate that possibility."With those symptoms, doctors usually ask if the person has had a tick bite recently. Even if they look closely, they may not spot the creatures, though a soapy wash will help remove them from the skin.As doctors have started to examine more and more patients that show up with the symptoms of alpha-gal allergy, which include a delayed allergic reaction that kicks in anywhere between three and 12 hours later, they've started to regularly ask if these patients know whether they've been bitten by lone star ticks.In some cases, patients can't remember tick bites, but know they've recently been bitten by chiggers. Unlike ticks, these larvae aren't looking for a blood meal. They're just <a href="https://www1.nyc.gov/site/doh/health/health-topics/chiggers.page">biting and dissolving a bit of skin with their saliva</a>, so they can then feed on that. They swarm in huge numbers, and the itch is distinctive.In the new study, the authors describe three case reports of patients in North Carolina, Ohio, and Virginia, all of whom recalled reactions to chigger bites before they developed their alpha-gal allergies. The authors also cite a survey of 311 alpha-gal patients seen at the University of Virginia who were asked about recent tick or chigger bites. At least 301 of those patients knew they'd been bitten, but 5.5% of that group only remembered chigger bites, not tick bites.This is concerning, because even though lone star ticks are widespread and <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/lone-star-tick-alpha-gal-red-meat-allergy-2018-5">expanding their range</a>, it could mean that yet another common creature is spreading the same health problems. Some form of chigger can be found in most of the world. They bite humans at all life stages - even the tick larvae feed on people, unlike with all<a href="http://www.sciencemag.org/news/2012/11/ticked-about-growing-allergy-meat"> other American ticks</a>. These larvae are tiny and easily confused with chiggers, the authors of the new study wrote. Sometimes they even swarm people, like chiggers do.In order to figure out for sure whether or not chiggers are spreading these allergies, researchers will look for traces of alpha-gal in chiggers and their saliva, which could be a sign that they can cause the allergy. The stand-up comedian and "Full House" actor was <a href="https://www.insider.com/bob-saget-contemplated-life-death-betty-white-tribute-2022-1">found dead</a> in his room at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Florida on Sunday. A preliminary autopsy found that there was "no evidence of drug use or foul play," according to a press release <a href="https://www.insider.com/bob-saget-autopsy-no-evidence-of-drug-use-foul-play-2022-1">previously seen by Insider</a>, and no cause of death has been reported as of Tuesday afternoon. Numerous users on far-right fringe forums were spreading a baseless conspiracy theory on Tuesday that the 65-year-old died after receiving a COVID-19 booster shot — which is safe and effective in thwarting serious disease, <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/booster-shot.html">according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention</a>. One Telegram user with a history of sharing anti-vaccine conspiracy theories posted that podcast clip to their channel on Monday, adding a caption about Saget taking the booster shot with a teary-eyed emoji at the end. The clip was reshared by other conspiracy theorists on Telegram and has amassed over 19,000 views.Inside a Telegram channel for an influencer linked to the conspiracy theory movement QAnon, multiple users wrote comments about how it "must be the jab," referring to the vaccine, on a post about Saget's death.One post on a far-right online forum baselessly alleging Saget died from the booster shot received over 1,200 likes. The <keyword id="48413" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="ministry" source="Orion">ministry</keyword> also blocked three Twitter accounts, one Facebook account and one new website. For first time 18 Indian YouTube news channels were blocked under <keyword id="645424" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="it-rules" source="Orion">IT Rules</keyword>, 2021. In a statement, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said, "Utilizing the emergency powers under the IT Rules, 2021, has issued orders on 04.04.2022 for blocking of twenty-two (22) YouTube based news channels, three (3) Twitter accounts, one (1) Facebook account, and one (1) news website." "The blocked YouTube channels had a cumulative viewership of over 260 crore, and were used to spread fake news, and coordinated disinformation over social media on subjects sensitive from the perspective of national security, <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>'s foreign relations, and public order," the ministry said. This is the first time action has been taken against the Indian YouTube based news publishers since the notification of the IT Rules, 2021 in February last year. Through the recent blocking order, 18 Indian and four (4) Pakistan-based YouTube news channels have been blocked. Analysis of contents shows that multiple YouTube channels were used to post fake news on various subjects such as the Indian Armed Forces, Jammu and <keyword id="6354495" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="kashmir" source="Orion">Kashmir</keyword>, etc. "The content ordered to be blocked also included certain anti-India content posted from multiple social media accounts operated in a coordinated manner from Pakistan," it said. The ministry claimed that it was observed that a significant amount of false content published by the these Indian YouTube based channels related to the ongoing situation in Ukraine, and aimed at jeopardising India's foreign relations with other countries. "The blocked Indian YouTube channels were using templates and logos of certain TV news channels, including images of their news anchors to mislead the viewers to believe that the news was authentic," the ministry said. With this action, since December 2021, the Ministry has issued directions for blocking 78 YouTube based news channels and several other social media accounts on grounds related to national security, sovereignty and integrity of India, public order, etc. "The Government of India remains committed towards ensuring an authentic, trustworthy, and safe online news media environment, and thwarting any attempts at undermining India's sovereignty and integrity, national security, foreign relations, and public order," the ministry added. If you may come into such a situation, it's better to be outside and to wear a mask. Cleaning surfaces is a lower-priority precaution you can take. To do it properly, it's important to use a product that would kill enough of the virus to prevent disease, Rachel Graham, an epidemiologist at the University of North Carolina, previously told <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/how-long-can-coronavirus-live-on-surfaces-how-to-disinfect-2020-3">Business Insider's Aylin Woodward</a>. The letter asks business executives to take "bold leadership" in fighting COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus, by sending employees to work from home, supporting frontline workers who need to work through the crisis, and asking employees to avoid hosting and attending large public events."Part of what inspired us to write the letter was to support the 3 million Americans who work at the frontlines, like pharmacies and grocery stores, which can't or won't be able to close. We want to protect that group," Carlson told Business Insider in an interview. "The best thing we can all do for that workforce is to stay home." The letter was published on Saturday evening by Rachel Romer Carlson, the CEO of the ed-tech unicorn Guild Education, and Ken Chenault, the chairperson at the VC General Catalyst. As of Sunday, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/china-virus-everything-we-know-deadly-2019-ncov-wuhan-spread-2020-1">more than 160,000 people have been infected and over 6,000 have died</a>. During the night, certain species of triatomine bugs crawl onto people, dogs, or other mammals to feed. They often bite on the face, especially near the eyes or mouth - hence the "kissing bugs" name.Out of more than 100 species of triatomine bugs, about 12 are considered important transmitters of Trypanosoma cruzi, the parasite that causes Chagas.When these bugs eat, they typically defecate, leaving feces that may contain the parasite. If these feces get rubbed into the bite wound or into mucous membranes in the eye or mouth, people can get infected.Most people don't show signs of infection, though some people develop swollen eyelids if that's where the infection first occurs. During the early phase of infection, some people experience fairly common symptoms of sickness like fever, fatigue, body aches, headaches, or a rash, <a href="http://kissingbug.tamu.edu/">according to Texas A&amp;M's Chagas research team</a>.In some cases, people may experience diarrhea or vomiting, and a small percentage of young children can experience swelling in the heart or brain that can lead to death.Doctors can diagnose the condition with blood tests and treat it with antiparasitic medications. But if patients aren't treated, they can develop the chronic form of the illness, and about 30% of those develop an enlarged heart. That can lead to further complications, including stroke, irregular heart rate, or heart failure.<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image">CDCTriatomine bugs live in these states.</div></div></div><h2>A growing threat</h2>In the US, there are at least 11 species of triatomine bugs, some of which transmit Chagas. In the US, the infection is most common in Southern states, including Texas, Florida, and California.As Chagas disease has spread and infected people have migrated to different parts of the world, other forms of transmission have become more common. Chagas can also be passed through blood transfusions, organ donation, and from pregnant women to their children."Transmission through these routes is a global problem and can occur wherever infected individuals reside," the authors of the recent warning wrote.This isn't the first time in recent years that doctors have sounded the alarm about Chagas. The automaker has teamed up with PortAventura Entertainment S.A.U. to announce a new Prancing Horse theme park which will also be its first European theme park. 
 Located at the PortAventura resort near Barcelona, Ferrari Land is expected to <keyword id="54921" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="40" keywordseo="spread">spread</keyword> out to 75,000 square metres. Estimated over $140 million, the auto-themed project will include the first Ferrari-themed hotel and Europe’s highest and fastest vertical accelerator. All set to open up in 2016, the family park will also lure travelers and Ferrari fans with a 250-room luxury five-star hotel along with restaurants, pool and even a driving simulator for adrenaline junkies.

Klausner, MD, MPH</a>, Professor of Medicine and Public <keyword id="6354750" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="health">Health</keyword> at UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine and Fielding School of Public Health. With other viruses, such as <a href="https://www.insider.com/what-are-the-symptoms-of-the-flu">influenza (the flu)</a>, transmission is also mostly through respiratory droplets. The flu <a href="https://www.insider.com/is-the-flu-contagious">is most contagious</a> within four days of first getting it. On the other hand, measles is more contagious because its primary mode of transmission is airborne, meaning that the virus particles can <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKAHNoni0KI">stay suspended in the air</a> for up to two hours where an infected person has coughed or sneezed. Viruses like Hepatitis B or HIV require direct sexual contact and either shared bodily fluids or blood. Generally speaking, this makes them harder to transmit compared to the common cold, says Klausner. Another way viruses can be transmitted is through skin-to-skin contact, like kissing, in the case of <a href="https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/hpv-infection/symptoms-causes/syc-20351596#:~:text=HPV%20infection%20occurs%20when%20the,contact%20in%20the%20genital%20region.">human papillomavirus (HPV)</a> or <a href="https://www.plannedparenthood.org/learn/stds-hiv-safer-sex/herpes">herpes simplex virus (HSV)</a>, for example. HSV can also be <a href="http://www.childrenshospital.org/conditions-and-treatments/conditions/n/neonatal-herpes-simplex/symptoms-and-causes">transmitted from mother to baby</a> during labor. A virus can also be transmitted by inanimate objects, if bodily fluids, mucus, or respiratory droplets are left on a surface, like a doorknob. Klausner says viruses can exist on a surface and potentially cause infection for up to a few hours. According to <a href="https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/flu/expert-answers/infectious-disease/faq-20057907">Mayo Clinic</a>, viruses will exist longer on harder surfaces – like plastic or stainless steel – than on soft fabric surfaces like clothing or pillows. "When we cook animals, whether it be steak or fish or chicken, we kill these viruses and bacteria. But it's by preparing raw animals and the products that we expose ourselves [to the viruses]," says Klausner. Also when preparing foods, it is important to remember that viruses and bacteria can be transmitted from the fecal-to-mouth route, meaning through the stool. <a href="https://www.insider.com/how-long-should-you-wash-your-hands">Handwashing</a> is of paramount importance.Getting blood or infected tissue from an animal on your hands can transmit a virus to you, and then you can pass it on to others. Meats that are eaten raw or mostly raw (like sushi or steak tartare) do come along with some risk – but professional chefs at restaurants know how to prepare these meats in a way that kills the potential viruses and bacteria. So leave these kinds of dishes to the pros. While a virus can be transmitted anywhere, there are some places that have higher rates of transmission. According to Klausner, anywhere where people are "<a href="https://www.insider.com/when-is-flu-season">in close contact</a>" is at high risk – including nursing homes, prisons, institutionalized settings, colleges, and boarding schools. After that, you have public and mass transportation, like trains, planes, and buses. <h2>How to prevent transmission</h2>There are measures you can take to protect yourself from viruses. According to Klausner, the best way to avoid getting a viral infection is to stay away from sick people, regularly wash your hands (<a href="https://www.insider.com/how-long-should-you-wash-your-hands">the right way</a>), and avoid touching your nose, mouth, and face.
