But in the second episode, the show hits new heights when Chris Hemsworth shows up.</p><p>In the show, Hart plays Kid, one of the biggest comics on the planet who is also the star of a blockbuster that is about to make $1 billion.</p><p>Episode two starts with Kid at a Boys &amp; Girls Club screening his blockbuster movie. The kids watch as a scene in the movie features Kid's character showing off superpowers. Out of nowhere, a wall explodes in the scene to reveal Chris Hemsworth is Kid's costar in the movie. The kids all cheer.</p><p>"True Story" creator Eric Newman said getting the star of the "Thor" movies to do a cameo was possible because Newman was in the middle of producing Hemsworth's upcoming Netflix movie, "Escape from Spiderhead."</p><div type="image" title="escape from spiderhead netflix" height="537" width="1366" msid="87917362" hostid="261"></div><p>"I was making the movie with Hemsworth at the time in Australia," Newman told Insider.</p><p>"Interesting fact: that was the first footage we shot of 'True Story,'" he continued. "We were shooting 'Spiderhead' and I asked if he'd do it and he said, 'Absolutely.'"</p><p>Newman said Hemsworth shot the wall breaking cameo for "True Story" during a break from shooting the streaming giant's next big futuristic thriller that also stars Jurnee Smollett, Miles Teller, and is written by the screenwriters behind the "Deadpool" movies. And the "Escape from Spiderhead" director even got involved.</p><p>"It was all done on our soundstage, and Joe Kosinski directed that shot," Newman said.</p><p><em>"True Story" is currently available on Netflix.</em></p>

<ul class="summary-list"><li><keyword id="1584102" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Miles-Teller">Miles Teller</keyword> will play "The Godfather" producer Al Ruddy in the Paramount Plus series "<keyword id="11349556" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="the-offer">The Offer</keyword>."</li><li>Hammer was previously cast in the lead role but exited amid accusations of sexual misconduct. </li><li>The 10-episode limited series gives a behind-the-scenes look at Ruddy's making of "The Godfather."</li></ul><p><a href="https://www.insider.com/category/miles-teller">Miles Teller</a> has been cast in the lead role of the Paramount Plus series "The Offer," replacing <a href="https://www.insider.com/category/armie-hammer">Armie Hammer</a> after the actor stepped away from the project amid accusations of sexual assault, multiple outlets reported on Friday. </p><p>The 10-episode limited series is based on the making of "The Godfather," the 1972 Academy Award-winning mob film directed by Francis Ford Coppola and adapted from Mario Puzo's 1969 novel of the same name.</p><p>The "Whiplash" actor will portray the movie's producer, Al Ruddy. Teller will also serve as an executive producer on the limited series, <a href="https://variety.com/2021/tv/news/miles-teller-the-offer-the-godfather-paramount-plus-armie-hammer-1234984051/">Variety</a> reports.</p><p>A release date for "The Offer" has not been announced, but production on the show is reportedly <a href="https://collider.com/miles-teller-godfather-tv-show-the-offer-paramount-plus-armie-hammer/">scheduled to begin</a> in the coming months.</p><p>Outside of the Paramount Plus project, Teller has been tapped to appear in upcoming films including "Top Gun: Maverick" and "Escape From Spiderhead."</p><div type="image" title="Miles Teller " height="1865" width="3731" msid="83089492" hostid="261"></div><p>Hammer was previously slated to depict Ruddy in the series, which is written and executive produced by Nikki Toscano.</p><p>However, the "Rebecca" actor <a href="https://variety.com/2021/tv/news/armie-hammer-the-godfather-series-the-offer-paramount-plus-1234894950/">exited the project</a> in January after unverified screenshots of messages claiming to be from the actor went viral online.</p><p>Many of the purported screenshots referred to fantasies involving <a href="https://www.insider.com/armie-hammer-cannibal-dms-controversy-explained">domination and cannibalism, among other claims</a>. </p><p>Representatives for Hammer didn't immediately respond to Insider's request for comment. </p><p>Before dropping out of "The Offer," Hammer <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/entertainment/news/armie-hammer-says-hes-stepping-down-from-his-next-movie-shotgun-wedding-and-alleges-vicious-social-media-attack/articleshow/80260722.cms#:~:text=Armie%20Hammer%20has%20dropped%20out,confirmed%20to%20Insider%20via%20email.">stepped down</a> from "Shotgun Wedding," a Lionsgate action-comedy starring Jennifer Lopez.</p><p>In a statement to <a href="https://people.com/movies/armie-hammer-stepping-away-from-jennifer-lopez-action-comedy-amid-controversy-alleged-messages/">People</a>, he denied the allegations put forth in the screenshots that individuals claimed to be from him and said he decided to leave "Shotgun Wedding" to be with his family. </p><p>"I'm not responding to these bull---- claims but in light of the vicious and spurious online attacks against me, I cannot in good conscience now leave my children for 4 months to shoot a film in the Dominican Republic," he said. </p><div type="image" title="Armie Hammer" height="800" width="1600" msid="83089496" hostid="261"></div><p>Hammer has since been dropped by WME and his personal publicist, according to <a href="https://variety.com/2021/film/news/armie-hammer-dropped-wme-agency-sex-scandal-allegations-1234902173/">Variety</a>. He's also exited the Cold War drama "<a href="https://www.insider.com/armie-hammer-dropped-from-another-film-following-sexual-assault-allegations-2021-3">Billion Dollar Spy</a>," the <a href="https://variety.com/2021/film/news/armie-hammer-fired-movie-billion-dollar-spy-sex-allegations-1234902364/">final film</a> on the actor's slate, along with the Broadway play "<a href="https://www.insider.com/armie-hammer-leaves-broadway-play-the-minutes-2021-4">The Minutes</a>." </p><p>In March, Effie, the 24-year-old woman behind the social media account that posted the alleged screenshots earlier in the year, <a href="https://www.insider.com/armie-hammer-cannibal-dms-controversy-explained">accused Hammer of rape and physical abuse</a>.</p><p>The Los Angeles Police Department <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/18/us/armie-hammer-sexual-assault-investigation.html">opened an investigation</a> into an allegation of sexual assault against Hammer shortly thereafter, <a href="https://www.insider.com/armie-hammer-cannibal-dms-controversy-explained">Insider</a> confirmed.</p><p>Hammer's lawyer, Andrew Brettler, denied the allegations in <a href="https://www.insider.com/armie-hammer-cannibal-dms-controversy-explained">a statement provided to Insider</a>, calling them "outrageous."</p>
