The startup operates in the area of data analytics, cloud engineering, machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (Al), to assist companies in data driven decision making. With this, Maruti Suzuki will own an equity stake of over 6.44 per cent in the startup, the automaker informed stock exchanges on Saturday. The investment is being made through the Maruti Suzuki lnnovation Fund, an initiative to undertake strategic investments in startups which exhibit high levels of technological innovation. This is the second such investment by the company. Earlier, the company invested in <keyword id="21061374" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sociograph-solutions-private-limited" source="keywords">Sociograph Solutions Private Limited</keyword>, specialised in AI, in June 2022. Maruti Suzuki invests in machine learning, artificial intelligence startup Amlgo Labs

The agreements follow the conclusion of an exclusive negotiation period during which ZEEL and SPNI conducted mutual due diligence. After closing, the new combined company will be publicly listed in India. The closing of the transaction is subject to certain customary closing conditions, including regulatory, shareholder, and third-party approvals. Under the terms of the definitive agreements, SPNI will have cash balance of USD $1.5 Bn (assuming an INR:USD exchange rate of 75:1) at closing, including through infusion by the current shareholders of SPNI and the promoters (founders) of ZEEL, to enable the combined company to drive sharper content creation across platforms, strengthen its footprint in the rapidly evolving digital ecosystem, bid for media rights in the fast-growing sports landscape and pursue other growth opportunities. SPNI is an indirect subsidiary of Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc. (SPE). Under the transactions contemplated by a non-compete agreement, SPE, through a subsidiary, will pay a non-compete fee to certain promoters (founders) of ZEEL, which will be used by such promoters (founders) to infuse primary equity capital into SPNI, entitling the promoters (founders) of ZEEL to acquire shares of SPNI, which would eventually equal approximately 2.11% of the shares of the combined company on a post-closing basis. After the closing, SPE will indirectly hold a majority 50.86% of the combined company, the promoters (founders) of ZEEL will hold 3.99%, and the other ZEEL shareholders will hold a 45.15% stake. The settlement stems from a mutual understanding between the companies to independently pursue future growth opportunities with a renewed purpose and focus on the evolving media and entertainment landscape, signifying the definitive conclusion of all disputes, the two companies said in a joint statement. ZEE Entertainment Enterprises Ltd and Culver Max Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. (CMEPL) have arrived at a comprehensive non-cash settlement, amicably resolving all disputes related to the merger co-operation agreement and the composite scheme of arrangement, it said. Under the agreement, the companies have mutually agreed to withdraw all respective claims against each other, in the ongoing arbitration at the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), and all related legal proceedings initiated in the National Company Law Tribunal (<keyword id="6355809" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="nclt" source="Orion">NCLT</keyword>) and other forums, it added. The companies will also withdraw the respective composite schemes of Arrangement from the NCLT and inform the relevant regulatory authorities. In January this year, Sony had pulled out from the proposed USD 10-billion merger with ZEE Entertainment Enterprises Ltd citing failure to meet certain "closing conditions" by the Indian firm. Zee and Sony amicably settle disputes over their failed merger, withdraw claims

The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the proposal for the 3rd batch of ascending <keyword id="22338892" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="e-auctions" source="keywords">e-auctions</keyword> for 730 <keyword id="22951451" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="FM-radio-channels" source="keywords">FM radio channels</keyword> in 234 new cities, with an estimated reserve price of Rs. 784.87 crore under the <keyword id="22950610" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Private-FM-Radio" source="keywords">Private FM Radio</keyword> <keyword id="22657617" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Phase-III-Policy" source="keywords">Phase III Policy</keyword>. According to the official statement, the Cabinet also approved a proposal to set the <keyword id="22951452" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Annual-License-Fee" source="keywords">Annual License Fee</keyword> (ALF) for FM channels at 4 per cent of <keyword id="20406587" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Gross-Revenue" source="keywords">Gross Revenue</keyword>, excluding Goods and Services Tax (GST). This will apply to the 234 new cities and towns. The expansion of Private FM Radio to these 234 new locations will address the existing demand for FM radio services in areas still uncovered by private broadcasters, providing access to new and local content in <keyword id="20520759" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="regional-languages" source="keywords">regional languages</keyword>. The journey began with the approval of the FM Phase-I Policy in July 1999, which aimed to revitalize the radio industry by introducing open auctions for selecting successful bidders. However, the initial phase met with limited success, with only 21 channels becoming operational across 12 cities. Recognizing the need for a more robust framework, the government introduced the improved FM Phase-II Policy in July 2005, following recommendations from the Dr Amit Mitra Committee and the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). This policy was well-received by stakeholders and resulted in significant growth in the FM radio industry, creating new employment opportunities and expanding the reach of private FM radio. Despite this success, many cities, particularly those with populations below three lakh and border areas, remained outside the private FM radio network. The necessity for further expansion led to the introduction of the FM Phase-III Policy, which sought to address the unmet demand for FM radio in uncovered cities. This policy recognized the strategic importance of extending FM radio services to border areas, such as Jammu &amp; Kashmir, the North Eastern states, and island territories, where private broadcasters had been reluctant to enter due to concerns about viability. The policy also aimed to incentivise the development of FM radio in these regions to counter cross-border propaganda and ensure that Indian radio channels had a wider reach. Additionally, the Phase-III Policy acknowledged the presence of 97 vacant channels from Phase-II that could not be auctioned for various reasons and emphasized the need for better utilisation of the frequency spectrum allocated for FM broadcasting.

Tata was listed in 'Titan's' category while Serum under 'Pioneers'. "Reliance Industries was founded as a textile and polyester company 58 years ago by Dhirubhai Ambani. Today the sprawling conglomerate -- which has aligned its growth with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for a 'self-reliant' India -- is the country's most valuable company, with a market capitalisation of more than USD 200 billion," TIME said. Now led by Dhirubhai's son Mukesh, the Mumbai-based company has ventures in energy, retail, and telecommunications, among others, and has made its chairman Asia's richest man, it said. The publication went on to stated that in February, Reliance came out on top in a fiercely competitive race to dominate India's burgeoning streaming market by striking a USD 8.5 billion merger deal with Disney's India business. "The deal will bring together more than 100 television channels and give the combined group around a 31 per cent share of India's streaming market compared to rivals Netflix and Amazon Prime with 8 per cent each," according to analytics firm Comscore. Reliance, Tata on TIME's list of world's most influential companies

New Delhi: The merger of media assets of Reliance Industries and the India business of global media house the Walt Disney is expected to be complete by the end of the third quarter of this fiscal, according to a regulatory filing by billionaire Mukesh Ambani-led group. The fair trade regulator CCI has already approved the merger of Viacom 18 and <keyword id="19976122" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Star-India" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Star India" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Star India">Star India</keyword> and NCLT (National Company Law Tribunal) has sanctioned the scheme regarding it. "The companies are in the process of obtaining other requisite approvals for the completion of the transaction and transaction closer is expected in 3Q FY 25," informed Reliance Industries on Monday in its quarter earning statement. The merger of Reliance group-controlled media assets - TV18 Broadcast and E18 - with Network18 Media &amp; Investments has already been sanctioned by the NCLT and was made effective on October 3, it said. Earlier on September 27, the government approved the transfer of licenses relating to Non News &amp; Current Affairs TV channels held by media entities of Reliance Industries to Star India. "The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, vide its order dated September 27, has granted its approval for transfer of Licenses relating to Non News &amp; Current Affairs TV channels held by <keyword id="19976121" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Viacom18" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Viacom18" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Viacom18">Viacom18</keyword> Media Private Limited in favour of Star India," it had said. On August 30, the NCLT had approved the scheme of merger of Viacom18 Media and Digital 18 Media, holding media and entertainment assets of Reliance Industries with Star India. The scheme had proposed the transfer and vesting of Media Operations Undertaking from Viacom 18 and Jio Cinema into Digital18, which is a subsidiary of Viacom 18. This would be followed by "demerger, transfer and vesting of V18 Undertaking from Digital 18 into Star India". The merger of the media assets of Reliance Industries and The Walt Disney Co.'s India business will create the country's largest media empire worth over Rs 70,000 crore. Earlier, the CCI had said it has cleared the "proposed combination involving Reliance Industries Ltd, Viacom18 Media Pvt Ltd, Digital18 Media Ltd, Star India Pvt Ltd and Star Television Productions Ltd, subject to the compliance of voluntary modifications". Viacom18 is part of the RIL group, and Star India is wholly owned by The <keyword id="19986269" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Walt-Disney-Company" source="keywords">Walt Disney Company</keyword>. Star Television Productions, a company incorporated in the British Virgin Islands, is owned indirectly by Walt Disney. <ul><li>Sony SAB announced that it is entering the mythology genre with its new show <keyword id="13134919" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Dharm-Yoddha-Garud" source="Orion">Dharm Yoddha Garud</keyword>.</li><li>We speak to <keyword id="939891" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="neeraj-vyas" source="Orion">Neeraj Vyas</keyword>, Business Head, Sony SAB on the new show, how the channel has been doing, advertiser response since the pandemic and how the channel plans to keep offering content relevant to its audience.</li></ul>It was in 2019 that Sony SAB refreshed its brand identity to ‘Khushiyon Wali Feeling’, in an attempt to come across as an enabler of happiness in its consumer’s lives. The TV channel wanted to stand for a larger purpose in life, that of making people happy through their offerings. Almost 3 years down the line, the philosophy seems to have worked in its favor. Sony SAB has been at Number 2 in the Hindi speaking market for 8 months now. It has been consistently trying to come up with relatable content, in an attempt to go beyond the perception that Hindi GECs are only about family dramas and ‘saas bahu’ daily soaps. It is also trying to change the perception that it is only a comedy channel. As a part of this attempt, Sony SAB has announced the launch of its latest show, its foray into mythological with ‘Dharm Yoddha Garud’. Speaking about the show, Neeraj Vyas, Business Head, Sony SAB said, “The mythology space is completely untested for us. However, for the last few years, we have tried to come up with content that is relevant, and that will add some meaning to our viewer’s lives. While getting into the mythology space, we could easily have done something on Krishna, Ganesh or Hanuman. But we have always endeavored at doing things that have never been done before. Garud’s story had been playing on our minds for a long time. We took almost a year to research on it. We knew it would need a lot of technology and only when we had all the pieces together, we decided to go ahead with it.” The show which has used state-of-the-art technology and visual effects is the most expensive show that the channel has ever commissioned, Vyas shared. While Sony SAB is perhaps most know for its most popular show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (which is also one of the longest running daily comedies in the world, with over 3398 episodes), in the past few years, the GEC has tried to come up with more differentiated content including shows like Wagle Ki Duniya – Nayi Peedhi, Naye Kissey, Shubh Laabh, Aapke Ghar Mein, Ziddi Dil – Maane Na, Maddam Sir, Sab Satrangi, Goodnight India. “We at Sony SAB are dedicated at promoting an enjoyable family-viewing experience and can truly define ourselves as a true blue ‘living room brand’, because we ensure there is something that can appeal to everyone in the family,” explained Vyas. When asked how they are tackling the fight for attention at a time when <keyword id="1245953" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ott" source="Orion">OTT</keyword> is coming up with such a huge variety of content, again for consumers of all age and demographies, Vyas said, “If TV has to stay relevant and competitive, we will have to balance between what we think the consumer wants to see and the rating reality. We will have to work a lot harder and go beyond the routine offerings of love stories and ‘saas bahu’ dramas. We will have to invest a lot more because today it is all about the quality of content you offer your viewers.” Advertiser response, however, Vyas shares has been very positive. “We bounced back from the doom and gloom of the first four months of the year pretty well. In fact, the last six to seven months have been superb from an advertising point of view probably because the channel has done very well,” shared Vyas adding that from an advertising revenue point of view, by the end of March, the channel would have grown by almost 70% over last year. The channel has always given a lot of importance to listening to its consumers and crafting content around what they want to watch. On what his focus areas will be going ahead, Vyas shared, “A strong communication strategy will be an important focus for us. As we get into April-May, we will be coming up with a very large consumer campaign that will focus on imprinting our unique brand philosophy into the minds of our consumers. And now that the pandemic is almost over, we will also stay a lot more focused on going out and talking to consumers a lot more aggressively to get a first hand feel of what's happening in their lives. We haven’t been able to do that for a while now but that is the plan for the future. And we will just get leaner and smarter from here.”

The <keyword id="42411" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="merger" source="Orion">merger</keyword> of ZEEL and SPNI would bring together two leading Indian media network businesses, benefitting consumers throughout India across content genres, from film to sports. The combined company is expected to benefit all stakeholders given strong synergies between ZEEL and SPNI. Under the terms of the non-binding Term Sheet, Sony Pictures Entertainment, the parent company of SPNI, would invest growth capital so that SPNI has a cash balance of approximately USD $1.575 billion at closing for use to enhance the combined company’s digital platforms across technology and content, ability to bid for broadcasting rights in the fast-growing sports landscape and pursue other growth opportunities. Sony Pictures Entertainment would hold a majority stake in the combined company. Current ZEEL Managing Director &amp; CEO <keyword id="599253" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="punit-goenka" source="Orion">Punit Goenka</keyword> is to lead the combined company. The combined company’s board of directors would include directors nominated by <keyword id="1192557" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sony-group" source="Orion">Sony Group</keyword> and result in Sony Group having the right to nominate the majority of the board members. It is anticipated that a final transaction would be subject to completion of customary due diligence, negotiation, and execution of definitive binding agreements, and required corporate, regulatory and third-party approvals, including ZEEL shareholder vote.
