<ul><li>The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has suspended its blockchain technology aimed at filtering out <keyword id="731341" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Spam-messages">spam messages</keyword> for the next seven days.</li><li>This comes after users across the country saw long delays in receiving their one-time-passwords (OTPs) for online transactions.</li><li>Since the upgrade was implemented yesterday, users report not receiving OTPs from legitimate sources like their banks, digital payments apps and even government entities like Aadhaar authentication.</li></ul>One-time-passwords (OTPs) aren’t just for financial transactions. They are central for logging into email accounts, authenticating new memberships, or just signing into Amazon on a new device. Understandably, when smartphone users in India saw that OTPs weren’t coming in anymore, they were upset. This whole drama is unfolding because the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) started to implement the second phase of the SMS regulations on March 8. The transition has been less than smooth to say the least, with companies may not have registered in time getting locked out. The government’s new process is designed to curb spam and fraud messages. Using a blockchain-based solution, telecom operators can now verify commercial messages and their source using a template for such communication. Unregistered messages, which do not follow the template, will be blocked as potential fraud. OTP delays should end as TRAI suspends its blockchain experiment for seven days

Mumbai, Jun 12 () The State Bank of India (SBI) on Friday relaunched its Aadhaar-based instant digital savings account facility for customers who want to open an online account using the Yono platform. Yono is the lender's integrated banking and lifestyle platform. The 'insta savings bank account' will offer a complete paperless and instant digital savings account opening with just PAN and Aadhaar number, the bank said in a release. "This account has all the features that would provide our potential customers a convenient, hassle-free and paperless banking experience without visiting the bank branch," SBI chairman Rajnish Kumar said. The bank will issue basic personalised RuPay ATM-cum-debit card to all the new account holders of insta saving bank accounts. To open account, customers need to download the Yono app, enter their PAN and Aadhaar details, submit one-time password, and fill other relevant details, the release said. Nomination facility is also available for account holders along with SMS alerts and SBI's missed call service. Once the process is completed, the account holder will get his/her account activated instantly and can start transacting immediately. Customers will have the flexibility to upgrade to full KYC (Know Your Customer) account by visiting their nearest SBI branch within one year's time. HV RVK

SBI relaunches Aadhaar-based online savings account opening facility

India’s largest bank, the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=SBI&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">State Bank of India (</a><keyword id="13222" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="SBI">SBI</keyword>), has decided to bring back penalty on non-maintenance of minimum balance in accounts from April 1. 
 
The SBI will also charge you for other services, including <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=atms&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">ATMs</a>. If you have a savings account, SBI will allow you to deposit cash free of cost only three times per month, after which it will charge Rs 50 plus service tax on every transaction beyond that. 
 
In case of current account, the levy could go as high as Rs. 20,000. 
 
As per the list of revised charges of SBI, failure to maintain Monthly Average Balance (MAB) in accounts will attract penalty of up to Rs. 100 plus service tax. 
 
In metropolitan areas, there will be a charge of Rs. 100 plus service tax, if the balance falls below 75 per cent of the MAB of Rs. 5,000. If the shortfall is 50 per cent or less of the MAB, then the bank will charge Rs. 50 plus service tax. 
 
The charges are now being reintroduced from April 1. The <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=rbi&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Reserve Bank of India </a>has permitted banks to levy charges for breaching minimum balance limit. 
 
<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=cash+withdrawal&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Withdrawal of cash</a> from ATMs will attract a charge of up to Rs. 20 if the number of transactions exceeds three from other bank's ATMs in a month and Rs. 10 for more than five withdrawals from SBI ATMs. 
 
However, SBI will not levy any charge on withdrawals from its own ATMs if the balance exceeds Rs. 25,000. In case of other banks' ATM there will be no charge if the balance exceeds Rs. 1 lakh. 
 
SBI will charge Rs. 15 for SMS alerts per quarter from <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=debit+card&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">debit card </a>holders who maintain average quarterly balance of up to Rs. 25,000 during the three months period.
