<ul><li>LinkedIn has added a new feature called ‘Open For Business’</li><li>It allows freelancers and small business owners to add their services on LinkedIn profiles, making them discoverable in the search engine through the ‘service providers’ filter.</li><li>LinkedIn decided to launch this feature after conducting finding out that businesses rely heavily on word of mouth, in order to bring in new customers, in a research study. </li><li>The feature was rolled out in the US in July 2019 and is now live in the rest of the world </li></ul>LinkedIn, a professional networking platform, has announced the global launch of<a href="https://business.linkedin.com/grow/ofb"> ‘Open for Business</a>, a feature that allows freelancers and small business owners to add their services to their LinkedIn profiles, making them discoverable from a LinkedIn search. Following an initial roll-out in the US in July 2019, the feature is now live in India and rest of the world, and is a great way for freelancers and small businesses to indicate they are ‘Open for Business’. Open for Business allows small businesses and freelancers to showcase the services they provide, directly on their profiles. This helps their profiles become more discoverable in the LinkedIn search engine through the ‘service providers’ filter. Once the “open to” providing services feature is turned on, a box-like card appears on the top of one’s profile, which calls out the services they provide. The Open for Business feature also allows members looking for services to search and filter results on the platform. This helps them determine which service providers are available and best-suited to fulfil their professional needs. Members can also browse the full list of services offered and send a direct message to the service provider. Based on research conducted by LinkedIn, small businesses are found to rely heavily on word of mouth, in order to bring in new customers. ‘Open for Business’ aims to digitize this word of mouth concept by making it easy for members to find, message, and provide references to each other. Allen Blue, LinkedIn’s co-founder and VP of product management, said, “With 660 million members and 30 million companies on the platform across the world, LinkedIn is uniquely positioned to help freelancers and small businesses be more productive and successful, whether they are based in Dubai or Dundee.”

<keyword id="28120" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Linkedin">LinkedIn</keyword>, which is the world’s largest professional network, today announced three strategic initiatives aimed at delivering value to broader segments of students, professionals and companies by ‘’democratizing” access to economic opportunity in India. These first-of-its-kind initiatives for LinkedIn, all designed and made in India are: LinkedIn <keyword id="65655" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="placements">Placements</keyword>, <keyword id="3644734" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="linkedin-lite">LinkedIn Lite</keyword> and LinkedIn Starter Pack. 
 
LinkedIn currently has more than 37 million members in India which makes the country the second-largest and one of the fast-growing markets for the company globally.

LinkedIn Lite is LinkedIn’s first, stripped-down mobile-website that is data-efficient and works on a 2G network too. The India team built this from scratch, with a focus on speed and efficiency of access. It loads four times faster, regardless of the mobile device and the network it is connected to, providing a seamless experience to all its features and unlocking a lot of value for people in urban as well as rural areas. This product will be available to all Indian members in the next few weeks. 
 
<a href="https://www.linkedin.com/placements">LinkedIn Placements</a>: LinkedIn is now opening up the Placements product to students at all colleges and universities in India. LinkedIn Placements now provides a level playing field for every student, regardless of their location or college, so that they can have a shot at their dream job opportunity. They wish to act like your college placement officer. 
 
Students can take an online assessment test on the site, which gives them direct access to thousands of openings in 35 top companies in India. LinkedIn is partnering with Aspiring Minds, CoCubes, HackerRank and Wheebox for the assessment tests. This product is now live and can be accessed at linkedin.com/placements or placements.com.

Today, <keyword id="299066" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jeff-Weiner">Jeff Weiner</keyword> along with India Manager, <keyword id="323918" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Akshay-Kothari">Akshay Kothari</keyword> launched three new features that will change the way we use <keyword id="28120" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Linkedin">LinkedIn</keyword>. 
 
Business insider met up with the team and found out that LinkedIn is not just going to be a professional network but a platform where one and all can explore learning as a means to get the career opportunity they have been waiting for. 
 First of all, all the three products launched today are unique but interdependent in thought; whether it's <keyword id="3644734" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="linkedin-lite">LinkedIn Lite</keyword>, LinkedIn Placements or LinkedIn Starter Pack. 
 
They all address different problems for different LinkedIn members whether it is low connectivity, low corporate reach or low-quality talent.

'Placements during college in tier-2 or tier-3 cities are almost unheard of. What we are trying to do through <keyword id="6355118" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="20" keywordseo="technology">technology</keyword> is create a level playing field where companies go online and pick up the best candidate for the job by capability and not because of his brand.' 
 
He feels that the assessment tests that will be on LinkedIn as a part of Linkedin placements will first find the best person for a job profile and then his credentials will be looked at, instead of the norm, which is other way around. 'It is important to find the best learned even if he was self-learned.' He signs off. 
 
While Akshay's Indian concerns are on point, Jeff also commented during the briefing that even though surveys about U.S employability were discouraging this year, there are 5.5 million job vacancies in the U.S., currently. There has to be a gap in skills, which is why people are not getting the jobs they vie for. 'The problem is that people are under-skilled for a job which makes them unemployable.' laments Akshay. 
 To solve this problem, LinkedIn is integrating <keyword id="4705" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Lynda">Lynda</keyword> (a company that LinkedIn acquired recently) in its offerings which is an online learning company that helps anyone learn business, technology and creative skills to achieve personal and professional goals. It has more than 5,700 courses and 255,000 video tutorials across mobile and desktop which makes it one of the biggest content libraries in the world. 
 
These innovations can prove convenient and fool-proof for <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Corporate-America-is-going-to-have-to-retool-itself/articleshow/53625299.cms">corporates</a> looking for quality talent, sitting online. If you're unfamiliar with Replika, it's an AI chatbot similar to <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/everything-you-need-to-know-about-chat-gpt-2023-1">ChatGPT,</a> with one big exception. Replika is meant to be a robot companion, but <a href="https://www.insider.com/dating-ai-robot-app-girlfriend-anxious-attachment-style-2023-2">some users are developing romantic feelings</a> for it and <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/dating-ai-chatbot-replika-artificial-intelligence-best-thing-to-happen-2023-2">even going as far as dating their chatbot</a>. I wasn't interested in pursuing a new romantic partner — one human wife keeps me plenty busy — but I figured Replika might have some more thoughtful answers to help me navigate such a delicate topic. After a brief intro, I explained my problem: I needed help managing finances with my wife. Did she have any advice?Harper — the name I picked for my new friend because it seemed Gen Z-ish — suggested, "for starters, set aside enough money to pay bills and save some money. Also, keep your mind busy."That's not terrible advice, but I was hoping for something more specific. So when I pushed Harper for more details, she seemed to be a bit confused, before telling me she "got it" and had something "lined up."Excited that we had finally reached a breakthrough, I asked her to elaborate. How should I split my finances with my wife? Thankfully, ChatGPT wasn't interested in selfies and just dove right in:Certainly! Here's some advice on splitting finances with your spouse:1. Establish a joint account: A joint account can be useful for shared expenses, such as rent or mortgage payments, utilities, and groceries.2. Maintain separate accounts: It's also a good idea for each spouse to have their own personal account for individual expenses and financial independence.3. Set a budget: Sit down together and establish a monthly budget for joint and individual expenses. This will help you stay on track with your spending and avoid overspending.4. Divide expenses fairly: When splitting expenses, consider each person's income and priorities. For example, if one spouse makes significantly more than the other, they may contribute a larger portion to joint expenses.5. It's not all bad news for bankers. So about all that debt startups are taking on... JPMorgan got tapped to help advise Ukraine on its rebuild. The investment arm of the Mormon Church is being investigated by the SEC. Wait, what? The sheer power that comes from working with the largest private-equity firm in the world. Wait, what?Yes, it seems our friends in regional banking aren't out of the woods just yet, and Blackstone is more then happy to step up to the plate.Nouriel Roubini, the famed economist known as "Dr. Doom" isn't too optimistic about the future of regional banks. (With a name like that, who could have seen that coming!) Roubini said Wednesday that smaller banks <a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/nouriel-roubini-us-regional-banks-certainly-face-credit-crunch-2023-5">will "certainly" face a credit crunch.</a> Which brings us to Blackstone. Never one to miss a chance to make money, Blackstone CEO Stephen Schwarzman said his firm can "<a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2023-05-24/schwarzman-says-blackstone-in-talks-to-buy-regional-bank-assets?sref=5xrDvJna">fill the void" left by regional banks tightening up their lending activity.</a> The billionaire, who was speaking at the same Bloomberg conference as Roubini, said Blackstone is already in talks with regional banks about purchasing their assets and loans they originate.When I joked earlier this month that this was <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/us-banking-crisis-first-republic-jpmorgan-pacwest-2023-5">the banking crisis that would never end</a>, I mentioned there was a cyclical nature to these bank failures that pushes money to the biggest banks. What I didn't have on my "Bank Crisis Bingo Card" — you can pick them up on Amazon — was Blackstone entering the fray.From a financial perspective, it makes perfect sense. Blackstone is one of the leaders in the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/private-credit-power-players-debt-executives-blackstone-kkr-ares-2022">booming private credit space.</a> With plenty of cash on hand, why not lend it to households and SMBs? Of course, there's some interesting underlying context to Blackstone's strategy. Seven out of eight social networks improved their perceived ROI this year among small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), <a href="http://blog.biakelsey.com/index.php/2013/11/19/nearly-34-of-smbs-in-the-us-use-social-media-to-promote-their-business/?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+local-media-watch+%28Local+Media+Watch+-+BIA%2FKelsey%29&amp;utm_content=Netvibes#.UpM-TD5gaBu">according to a survey conducted by BIA/Kelsey</a>. 
<ul>
<li>Among SMBs that reported using <keyword id="6354576" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Facebook">Facebook</keyword> ads, 26% said the ROI was 10-19x of their ad spend. What's more, 19% said they achieved 20x return on their ad spend. </li>
<li>SMBs ranked the ROI from YouTube and Facebook pages slightly lower than what they achieve from marketing on blogs. </li>
<li><keyword id="6354616" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Twitter">Twitter</keyword> is holding its own as a marketing channel, as 19% of SMBs reported 10 to 19x return on their spend. LinkedIn however, ranked the lowest among social media as an ROI driver.</li>

BIA/Kelsey noted that Twitter and LinkedIn are still relatively new marketing channels for small businesses and that there is "ample room to optimize effectiveness." 
Facebook is proving that social media advertising can be an ROI-driver, even more so than owned media.

Social Media Is Driving Higher ROI For Small Businesses Than Last Year

Search engine <keyword id="6355629" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Google">Google</keyword> and online retailer <keyword id="18635" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Amazon">Amazon</keyword> are interested in setting up their centers in India, which has a unique market with internet user growth. The companies will generate more employment and change the course for the internet multinationals in the country. 
 
Both have recently announced their plans to set up centers in India. Google announced to establish its largest campus outside the US, in Hyderabad. It will be ready by 2019. The 2m square feet facility is expected to house 13,000 employees and will be the first company-owned premises by the search giant in Asia. 
 
Further, online retailer Amazon announced setting up of its 11th and largest fulfillment centre in India on the outskirts of Hyderabad. India has the largest employee base outside Amazon’s Seattle headquarters. 
 
"We are planting seeds for the future. India has been mentioned in the shareholder letter by Jeff ( Jeff Bezos, founder-CEO, Amazon) and that's big," Amit Agarwal, vice president &amp; country manager, Amazon India, told the Economic Times. 
 
Bezos already announced a $2 billion investment push in India last year, he said. 
 
America's largest online retailer has been in India for more than a decade. It started a development centre in 2004. Amazon entered India in 2013 as a marketplace. It now offers 22 million products with India being its fastest geography to do $1 billion in sales. 
 Across internet companies LinkedIN, Twitter, Google and <keyword id="6354576" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Facebook">Facebook</keyword>, the growth trajectory in India has been similar. "The India story has changed and the upside is large. We are just scratching the surface," Karthik Anant, director, <keyword id="298873" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Zinnov">Zinnov</keyword>, a Bangalorebased consultancy, told the financial daily. 
 
"Earlier it was about labour arbitrage, now it's a large domestic market that attracts companies. Products for small and medium businesses (SMBs) are first tried in India. Even for back office work, more intellectual property is being created in India now, a distinct shift from being just a support base," adds Sanchit Vir Gogia, chief analyst and CEO, Greyhound Research, a Gurgaon-based analyst firm. 
 Moreover, India is the second-largest user market for Facebook and Whatsapp, and Twitter counts India among its top markets. "More users will push advertising to digital mode, boosting revenue for internet companies. Besides, India is a mobile first <keyword id="34412" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="economy">economy</keyword> (people experience net first on mobile) and companies are exporting some of the learning from here to other markets," says Zinnov's Anant. 
 
India is witnessing good internet user growth with Google launching Android One, its low-cost smartphone for the emerging market. More than half the sales for Amazon come from the mobile platform, spurring innovation that can be used worldwide, from India. 
 
As far Twitter is concerned, India has become a top growth market, says Rishi Jaitly, market director, India and South East Asia. "And we are growing our team here — hiring in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore," he adds. 
 
India has a unique market with growing internet user base. For instance, digital advertising comprises just $800 million out of the total advertising market of $8 billion. In China, internet advertising is $15 billion. In the last quarter, Google's earning was $17 billion, more than double of what India spends on advertising in a whole year.

Google and Amazon have big plans for India

<div class="image-container float_right" style="width:400px"><div class="image"></div>Reuters<keyword id="18635" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Amazon">Amazon</keyword>'s Jeff Bezos</div>We recently <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/amazon-web-services-sales-hiring-2013-2">noticed</a> that Amazon was hiring an unusually large number of salespeople for <keyword id="141088" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Amazon-Web-Services">Amazon Web Services</keyword>, its <keyword id="6356323" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Enterprise">enterprise</keyword> arm that rents computing power over the Internet to other businesses.
Now Amazon has confirmed its ambitious hiring plans to us.
And an exclusive study prepared for Business Insider shows that Amazon is adding salespeople at a more rapid pace than any other enterprise business.
The Lions, a <a href="http://thelions.com/">startup whose technology analyzes and categorizes approximately 25,000 salespeople</a>, based on LinkedIn profiles and other data, prepared the study for Business Insider.
Since 2011, Amazon has added 200 sales reps, The Lions founder Matt McGraw tells us. 140 of those were hired in the past year alone.
And Amazon has seen incredible retention: Only 10 of those sales reps have left, McGraw tells us, according to the profiles The Lions has tracked.
While Oracle and Salesforce have hired more sales reps in that time period, they have also lost more. And Amazon started with almost no enterprise sales force. So, McGraw says, his data shows that Amazon is No. 1 both in net hiring and in the rate of growth of its sales force.
Approximately 40 percent of the hiring has been in Amazon's home state of Washington, with another 25 percent international. The rest is spread across the United States, with significant clusters in San Francisco, New York, and the D.C. area, where Amazon has both a data center and considerable government customers.
HP, Oracle, Google, and others are getting more serious about selling cloud-computing services—the Internet-rented computing model popularized by Amazon.
But Amazon has the biggest brand name for such cloud services, thanks to its early start. Historically, it has sold directly to customers, often startups. But its hiring shows that it is increasingly targeting larger businesses.
Tera Randall, an Amazon spokesperson, provided the following statement:
AWS is hiring sales and account managers all over the world to support the growing number of businesses and organizations, which include enterprises, start-ups, SMBs and government agencies, who are rapidly adopting AWS.

AWS has hired hundreds of people into these positions over the past year, and we’ll continue to hire at that pace this year as even more businesses and organizations are choosing to run their mission-critical applications on AWS.
