The Indian <keyword id="9462187" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="space-economy" source="Orion">space economy</keyword> is currently valued at around Rs 6,700 crore ($8.4 billion) with a 2 per cent share in the global space economy. "We have seen dozens and dozens of new space startups being established in India. This is because of the new government policies and investments, and the goal to increase by 4 times the amount of its share of the global space industry," Crosier emphasised. In September, AWS signed a strategic MoU with the Indian Space Research Organization (<keyword id="6358064" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="isro" source="Orion">ISRO</keyword>) and IN-SPACe to support space-tech innovations through cloud computing. This collaboration will give space startups, research institutes and students access to cutting edge cloud technologies that accelerate the development of new solutions in the space sector. "We're supporting and working with a company called SatSure in India, which is using space-based data, and geospatial analytics to help with climate management decisions within the government in the country," he told IANS. SatSure is able to process those volumes of data, and turn large data into real-time, knowledge and insights by operating at the scope and speed of high performance compute and artificial intelligence and machine learning on AWS cloud. According to a latest report by The New York Times, startups in India have ambitious plans for capitalising on the burgeoning demand of small satellites in low-earth orbits. In June during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's state visit to the US, the White House said that Modi and American President Joe Biden "called for enhanced commercial collaboration between the US and Indian private sectors in the entire value chain of the space economy". The company said it has received approval from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDCSCO) for the drug indicated for diabetes patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Dapagliflozin is the first and only anti-diabetic drug approved to significantly reduce the risk of sustained eGFR (estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate), cardiovascular deaths and hospitalisations due to heart failure in adults with progressive chronic kidney disease, the drug firm said. The approval is applicable for both diabetic and non-diabetic CKD patients, it added. CKD is one of the leading causes of hospitalisation globally and in <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>, representing a significant clinical and economic burden. French scientists have revived a 48,500-year-old <keyword id="15655645" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="zombie-virus-buried-under-a-frozen-lake" source="Orion">zombie virus buried under a frozen lake</keyword> in Russia until now! According to New York Post, French scientists have sparked fears of yet another pandemic after reviving the "<keyword id="14706038" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="zombie-virus" source="Orion">zombie virus</keyword>". New York Post is a daily tabloid newspaper published in New York City. New York Post has quoted a viral study which is yet to be peer-reviewed. "The situation would be much more disastrous in the case of plant, animal, or human diseases caused by the revival of an ancient unknown virus," reads the "viral" study. According to the preliminary report, global warming is irrevocably thawing enormous swathes of permafrost -- permanently frozen ground that covers one-quarter of the Northern Hemisphere. This has had the unsettling effect of "releasing organic materials frozen for up to a million years" - possibly deadly germs included. "Part of this organic matter also consists of revived cellular microbes (prokaryotes, unicellular eukaryotes) as well as viruses that remained dormant since prehistorical times," the researchers write. According to the New York Post, scientists have, perhaps strangely, revived some of these so-called "zombie viruses" from the Siberian permafrost in order to investigate the awakening critters. The oldest, Pandoravirus yedoma, was 48,500 years old, a record age for a frozen virus returning to a form where it may infect other creatures. This breaks the previous record of a 30,000-year-old virus identified in Siberia by the same scientists in 2013. The new strain is one of 13 viruses described in the study, each with its own genome, according to Science Alert. While the Pandoravirus was discovered at the bottom of a lake in Yukechi Alas, Yakutia, Russia, others have been discovered everywhere from mammoth fur to Siberian wolf intestines. Scientists discovered that all of the "zombie viruses" have the potential to be infectious and hence pose a "health danger" after researching the live cultures. They believe that COVID-19-style pandemics will become more common in the future as melting permafrost releases long-dormant viruses like a microbial Captain America, as per New York Post. "It is therefore legitimate to ponder the risk of ancient viral particles remaining infectious and getting back into circulation by the thawing of ancient permafrost layers," they write. Unfortunately, it's a vicious cycle as organic matter released by the thawing ice decomposes into carbon dioxide and methane, further enhancing the greenhouse effect and accelerating the melt. New York Post reports that the newly thawed virus might only be the tip of the epidemiological iceberg as there are likely more hibernating viruses yet to be discovered. More research is needed to assess the level of infectiousness of these unknown viruses when exposed to light, heat, oxygen, and other outside environmental variables. The theme for this year's Summit is Geopolitics of Technology. "India would like to use the presidency of G20 in many ways to reflect interests and concerns today of the global south as we feel they're being sidelined and not just be a voice but would like to take into global south something we've tested and prepared at home," said EAM at Global Tech Summit. He made the remarks during a question-and-answer session at the event. On the issue of climate change, Jaishankar said, "Since 2014 there's been a different kind of approach to climate change in terms of our policies, advocacies, energy mix... When it comes to climate tech, India has a range of possibilities... There are Indian businesses in climate in COP now." "We're actually already seeing the impact of climate events and climate change on politics. An example would be the big debate today in <keyword id="28249" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="europe" source="Orion">Europe</keyword> is if it will be able to survive the winter from the energy perspective," he added. The minister noted that there is an intensification in big power competition and many agreements of the past will not continue. "We have already seen in the last few days, there are agreements which are not being renewed. It will become much harder to have new understandings," he said. Underscoring the importance of data in national security he said, "Where our data is going is no longer matter of business and economics but of national security. Everything is being weaponised in this world of ours, I have to change my approach of where I should be protective of my interests." He noted how India has started engagement on Indo Pacific Economic Framework. "US has been upfront on it. There is big technology and supply chain element to it. You have IPEF, <keyword id="887681" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="quad" source="Orion">Quad</keyword> and a lot of bilateral discussions with different partners and big debates going on in our own country," he said. On the impact of the Ukraine conflict, he said the war has sucked up the oxygen in Europe. We will hopefully be doing our meeting in some more time." Speaking at the seventh edition of the Global Technology Summit in New Delhi, the External Affairs Minister underscored the importance of technology in geopolitics and the emerging world order. "We people, especially in India in the last two years, have woken up to the fact, where does our data reside? Who processes and harvests our data and what do they do with it? That is a very very key question," Jaishnakar said. The minister emphasised that countries have fashioned their national security decisions by applying technology. "When we think today of the competitive politics sharper contradictions, I think we should be more and more cognisant," he said. Jaishankar also pointed out that India cannot be agnostic about technology, saying that there is a very strong political connotation that is inbuilt into technology. In the next two quarters that followed, the average funds raised was around $10 billion, which dropped to $6.48 in the April-June quarter. In the current quarter, it’s all set to become leaner as startups raised only $2 billion quarter to date with only one month to go. In August, Indian tech startups raised $885 million and only a sliver of the companies surveyed by Tracxn received funding. Pune-based fintech startup <keyword id="3150552" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="earlysalary" source="Orion">EarlySalary</keyword> also raised a $110 million this month. It provides instant loans to young salaried individuals. “The most funded business models in the past one year are online test preparation courses, vernacular content sharing platforms, ultra fast grocery delivery, digital wallets and hyperlocal delivery platforms,” the report stated. India has 85 unicorns, 268 soonicorns and 938 minicorns, Tracxn revealed. Esper, an Android-based development platform, raises $30 million as pandemic accelerates adoption of intelligent devices

"The Navy's Search and Rescue (SAR) operations entered the fourth day today. Naval ships and aircraft are presently undertaking SAR of the missing crew members of Accommodation Barge P-305, which sank on Monday 35 miles off Mumbai," a Navy spokesperson said. Navy ships INS Kochi, INS Kolkata, INS Beas, <keyword id="6696783" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="INS-Betwa">INS Betwa</keyword>, INS Teg, P8I maritime surveillance aircraft, <keyword id="409918" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Chetak">Chetak</keyword>, ALH and Seaking helicopters are involved in the SAR operations, he said. Another Navy ship INS Talwar was the 'On Scene Coordinator' off Gujarat coast and assisted Support Station 3 (SS-3) and Drill Ship Sagar Bhushan, which were being safely towed back to Mumbai by <keyword id="6354737" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="ONGC">ONGC</keyword> support vessels, he said. Navy ships were deployed on Monday after the Navy was informed that barge 'P305' had gone adrift off the Heera oil fields in Bombay high area with 261 personnel on board. And that could make tea even more expensive in the days to come. Companies like Tata Consumer Products and Hindustan Unilever (HUL) may pass on the rising cost or chai (Indian tea) lovers may have to curb enthusiasm for their favourite beverage. The average price of tea sold at the auctions in Guwahati (Assam) in 2021 has crossed ₹211 per kilogram and in Coonoor (Tamil Nadu), the average price for the year was more than ₹125 in mid-May. The unorganised market is estimated at ₹9,000 crore a year, by ICICI Securities, compared to the ₹16,500 crore organised segment where Tata Tea has steadily maintained a market share of 20%. So, the current <keyword id="22195" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Inflation">inflation</keyword> in <keyword id="46725" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tea-Prices">tea prices</keyword> could be a bigger jolt for smaller players as well as the million-plus people working in the tea gardens.
