The fascinating <a href="https://www.nature.com/articles/s41593-024-01741-0">study</a> has revealed that pregnancy can shrink <keyword id="22167255" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="grey-matter" source="keywords">grey matter</keyword> in more than 80% of a woman’s brain, leaving lasting "permanent etchings" in the brain. The latter sponsored Varbanova's trip to a Snapchat conference in 2016, paying her $1,000.Back then, content creators were also happier to receive PR boxes of products as payment for promotion, Varbanova said. Now, they prefer to get paid for their labor.Varbanova was recently offered $5,000 for one 30-second TikTok video, which the brand could license for three months."Brands have become a lot more willing to pay influencers," she said.Jacob Lucas, who shares <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.tiktok.com/@jacoblucas101?lang=en">relationship advice</a> on TikTok and Instagram, started making content around five years ago and decided to become a creator full time about a year in.Lucas told BI that views have never made his career lucrative. Rather, he makes money from brand deals, where he charges around £8,000 ($10,379) per video, with wiggle room depending on how much he likes the company or product.<h2 id="dba7c209-48a2-4e9c-83be-3be5eaac2ab6">Engagement and authenticity over follower count</h2>Savannah Britt, a PR specialist and the CEO at The Brittprint Agency, told BI that follower count used to determine whether an influencer could partner with a company.But now, some of her clients have been struggling to secure brand deals — even one with over 10 million followers — because of a push toward engagement."Brands are seeking creators who are trending right now," Britt said. "Brands are making it boring again for these audiences."<h2 id="e7307c7a-9a13-4b94-9dbe-303788fae261">Sorting the issues</h2>While the potential for earnings is still high, content creators have long been plagued by being taken advantage of in a rapidly evolving economy and burning out from high demand. Some companies are hoping to change that.Parkinson hopes to solve how long it takes for creators and their management agencies to get paid with Inflverse.Brands can take up to three months to pay out. Sometimes, they don't pay out at all, and the creator can't do much about it."Imagine working a normal 9-5 and your boss telling you that you aren't getting paid for 90 days, and even at that point, it isn't guaranteed," Parkinson said.According to Varbanova, the content creators who will make the most of the evolving industry are those who take advantage of all the services available to them — especially as some marketers are <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/micro-influencer-campaigns-decline-marketers-turn-to-big-stars-2024-10">moving back toward working with mainstream celebrities</a>.She said they would also be wise to become part or full owners of their own brands and companies, like MrBeast with Feastables, Logan Paul and KSI with Prime, and Charli D'Amelio with D'Amelio Footwear.That way, creators are "monetizing their influence rather than just relying on brand deals," Varbanova said."That is the future," she said. They've also floated plans to increase affordable housing while offering different viewpoints on home construction in rural and urban areas.Detailed below are four elements of the housing-price equation, and what both the Harris and Trump camps have either proposed or already done.<h2 id="1827e262-8518-4344-bd61-fda006799bbc">Increasing housing supply</h2>Harris has said she will work with the private sector and homebuilders to construct <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/how-kamala-harris-plans-to-build-3-million-new-homes-2024-8">3 million more homes</a> by the end of her first term. She also plans to create a <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/kamala-harris-economy-proposal-25k-first-time-homebuyers-down-payent-2024-8">$40 billion federal innovation fund</a> that encourages local governments to build housing.This is in response to an ongoing US housing shortage. The US was short about <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://zillow.mediaroom.com/2024-06-18-The-U-S-is-now-short-4-5-million-homes-as-the-housing-deficit-grows">4.5 million homes</a> in 2022, a recent Zillow report found. And that same year the number of US families increased by 1.8 million, but just 1.4 million housing units were built.The Democratic candidate also said she plans to expand the existing <a target="_blank" href="https://www.huduser.gov/portal/datasets/lihtc.html">low-income housing tax credit</a>, which incentivizes the rehabilitation or building of housing targeted at lower-income households."Harris is trying to increase the supply of townhomes, duplexes, and condos, so that people can have an easier step onto the housing ladder than what they currently have," Daryl Fairweather, chief economist at the real estate firm Redfin, told BI.Fairweather added that Trump has talked a little bit about cutting red tape, referring to building permits and zoning laws that prevent new housing developments, but that he hasn't provided details. He also said he would <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.eenews.net/articles/trump-vows-hell-cut-regs-to-build-housing-on-federal-land/">designate more federal land</a> for housing.Some experts have concerns that Trump's <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/trumps-tariff-outlook-trade-policy-income-tax-consequences-fiscal-crisis-2024-7">high tariff proposals</a> on materials like steel would make it harder to build housing. <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" class="c-link" href="https://www.piie.com/sites/default/files/2024-05/pb24-1.pdf">A report</a> published in May from the nonpartisan think tank Peterson Institute for International Economics predicts they will make construction more expensive. Experts have said Harris' down-payment assistance plan would boost overall home prices because it would increase demand for mortgages <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.aei.org/research-products/report/determining-the-price-impact-of-harris-down-payment-assistance-proposal/">without solving supply issues</a>.Although Trump has said that he <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-biden-housing-crisis-policy-rising-home-prices-apartment-rents-2024-6">would offer tax incentives</a> to first-time homebuyers, his campaign has not released details about the amount of aid.As president, Trump proposed <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-biden-housing-crisis-policy-rising-home-prices-apartment-rents-2024-6">major cuts</a> to the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development's budget, including slashing housing assistance and community development aid."Qualifying income for a household to be able to afford the typical price of a home right now is six figures," Jessica Lautz, the deputy chief economist and vice president of research at the National Association of Realtors, said. It's unclear if Trump still wants to pursue similar policies.While in office in 2017, Trump proposed a budget for the 2018 fiscal year that <a target="_blank" href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-nation/wp/2017/05/23/heavy-cuts-to-rural-development-and-infrastructure-in-latest-trump-budget/">would have significantly cut</a> rural housing subsidies. From <keyword id="20852321" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="FO-trading" source="keywords">F&amp;O trading</keyword> (futures and options) and buybacks getting more expensive in the hands of the individual, to changes in TDS slabs for payments concerning life insurance, brokerage, and more, here's a ready reckoner for all that you need to know: 1. STT upped for F&amp;O (Futures and Options) trading This budget, in a bid to discourage retail investors from burning their hands in the highly risky F&amp;O segment, the government had proposed raising the STT (securities transaction tax) for both futures and options. Starting today, you will have to pay an STT of 0.1% on premium earned from option sales, as opposed to 0.0625% previously. As for futures, the STT is set to rise to 0.02% of trade price, up from its previous mark of 0.0125%. Notably, STT is levied every time an individual purchases or sells a security, which significantly increases its incidence and coverage. For instance, if the trading price of the futures you're selling today is Rs 1,000, you'd have to pay Rs 0.2 as STT today. Till September 30th, the STT applicable would be Rs 0.12. Only a tiny 1% traders managed to rake in profits above Rs 1,00,000. Perhaps SEBI is thinking along the lines of prevention being better than cure? 2. Changes in Debit card rules for ICICI bank ICICI debit card users, who also happen to be frequent flyers, listen up! Starting today, you will be able to access the complimentary airport lounge service twice, but only if you have spent Rs 10,000 or more via your card in the previous quarter. So, suppose you've spent just Rs 8,000 between July-September 2024 via your ICICI debit card. Since this falls below the Rs 10,000-threshold, you wont be able to access complimentary airport lounge service two times between October-December 2024. 3. Changes in rules for PPF, small savings account The interest rates on various small savings schemes were left unchanged by the Finance Ministry for the upcoming quarter i.e. October-December 2024. For this quarter, Public Provident Funds (PPF) will earn you 7.1% interest p.a., while Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY) and Senior Citizens Savings Scheme (SCSS) will offer interest at the rate of 8.2% p.a. <div type="Article" hostid="261" msid="113692667" title="Attention! Starting today, only your primary PPF account will be eligible for interest. </li><li>Are you an NRI who currently holds an active PPF account, and you have not disclosed your residency status in Form H (used to extend the tenure of your PPF account by blocks of 5 years)? Starting today, such accounts will earn zero interest. </li></ul>4. Buyback set to get more expensive Buybacks happen when a company decides to buy back its own shares from its existing shareholders. What's in for the shareholders, you ask? The buyback price is usually higher than what is offered by the markets. You are eligible to participate in a company's buyback if you hold its shares on or before the record date that's set by the company. Starting today, buybacks will be treated just like dividends. This means starting today, the burden of tax payable on buybacks will fall on the shareholders selling the shares, and not the company. Revision of TDS rates Starting today, the TDS (tax deducted at source) on various payments you make for life insurance, lottery tickets and more is also set to change.
