Rakesh Jhunjhunwala-backed Star Health lists at a discount of nearly 6%

According to experts, markets bulls are enthused by a positive sentiment in global markets after top US public health expert Dr Antony Fauci observed that the Omicron variant is unlikely to be more severe than the Delta variant, removing market concern regarding the economic impact of the new variant. The 30-share index was trading 729.05 points or 1.26 per cent higher at 58,362.70 in initial deals. Similarly, the <keyword id="6354813" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nifty" source="Orion">Nifty</keyword> rose 202.15 points or 1.18 per cent to 17,378.85. HCL Tech was the top gainer in the Sensex pack, rising over 2 per cent, followed by Infosys, Bharti Airtel, Tech Mahindra, <keyword id="6354919" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="lt" source="Orion">L&amp;T</keyword>, Reliance Industries and ICICI Bank. On the other hand, <keyword id="45179" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ntpc" source="Orion">NTPC</keyword> was the sole laggard. In the previous session, the 30-share equity benchmark ended 886.51 points or 1.56 per cent higher at 57,633.65, and Nifty rallied 264.45 points or 1.56 per cent to 17,176.70. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) remained net sellers in the capital market, as they sold shares worth Rs 2,584.97 crore on Tuesday, as per exchange data. The Reserve Bank of India is scheduled to announce the outcome of its bi-monthly Monetary Policy Review at 1000 hours. The RBI's policy announcement is unlikely to be market-moving since the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) is likely to retain the status quo on policy stance and rates, said VK Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist at Geojit Financial Services. A 10 per cent correction from the peak in a raging bull market provides good buying opportunities, particularly when the global equity backdrop is 'risk-on.' This favourable setting continues with the strong rally in the US market yesterday, he stated. However, he noted that since FIIs continue to be in the sell mode, markets may come under selling pressure at higher levels. Elsewhere in Asia, bourses in Shanghai, Seoul and Tokyo were trading with significant gains in mid-session deals, while Hong Kong was in the red. Stock exchanges in the US too rallied in the overnight session. Meanwhile, international oil benchmark Brent crude fell 0.42 per cent to USD 75.12 per barrel. The active cases have declined to 83,913, comprising 0.24 per cent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.38 per cent, the highest since March 2020, the <keyword id="46535" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Health-Ministry" source="Orion">Health Ministry</keyword> said. A decline of 652 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours. The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.58 per cent. It has been less than 2 per cent for last 76 days The weekly positivity rate was recorded at 0.61 per cent. It has been below 1 per cent for the last 35 days, according to the ministry. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 3,41,78,940, while the case fatality rate has been recorded at 1.37 per cent. The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 137.46 crore. India's COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19. India crossed the grim milestone of two crore on May 4 and three crore on June 23. The 264 new fatalities include 218 from Kerala and 11 from Maharashtra. Kerala has been reconciling Covid deaths for the past few days so the death tally of the state is high. A total of 4,77,422 deaths have been reported so far in the country, including 1,41,340 from Maharashtra, 44,407 from Kerala, 38,287 from Karnataka, 36,676 from Tamil Nadu, 25,100 from Delhi, 22,915 from Uttar Pradesh and 19,660 from West Bengal. The Health Ministry stressed that more than 70 per cent of the deaths occurred due to comorbidities. "Our figures are being reconciled with the <keyword id="6364555" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="indian-council-of-medical-research" source="Orion">Indian Council of Medical Research</keyword>," the ministry said on its website, adding that state-wise distribution of figures is subject to further verification and reconciliation. Manoj Dalmia, founder and director at Proficient Equities, said that one may subscribe to MapmyIndia for listing gains considering its GMP (which is at ₹800) and client base. Usually, shares that demand a huge premium till the last day of the IPO tend to give higher gains on the day of listing. Analysts at Investmentz believe that while MapmyIndia is well placed to capitalise on domestic opportunities, its upper price band of ₹1,033 per share is aggressively priced. Jaypee Group, which is into construction, real estate, power, hospital and hotel businesses, has also contributed Rs 51 lakh to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Relief Fund, Rs 50 lakh to Uttar Pradesh CM Relief Fund and Rs 21 lakh to Uttarakhand CM Relief Fund. Jaypee Group firm Jaypee Infratech is undergoing insolvency proceedings."In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Jaypee Group has collectively donated Rs 4.22 crore," Jaypee Group said in a statement. The group is also providing essential items to labourers working on its various projects and also to people around the sites. New Delhi, Apr 3 () Mumbai-based Hiranandani group has donated Rs 5 crore to Maharashtra Chief Minister's Relief Fund to tackle the coronavirus crisis. Real estate associations and many developers have come forward to support the central governments and state governments. Many developers are providing cooked meals, dry rations, masks and sanitisers to construction workers on their projects sites. Earlier, CREDAI-Gujarat chapter has donated Rs 5 crore to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. DLF group CSR arm DLF Foundation has donated Rs 5 crore to Haryana CM Relief Fund, besides pledging to provide 27 lakh meals. "Till date, cooked meals have been served to 2,80,750 persons and dry rations equivalent to 24,24,800 meals are in the process of being supplied," DLF Foundation said in a statement. It has also donated ICU ventilator, multiple diagnostic machines and hospital beds to South Delhi Municipal Corporation. (Eds: Adding more quotes) New Delhi, Apr 15 () The real estate industry on Wednesday said the government's decision to allow construction on those projects where labourers are already available on sites will solve the problem of migrant daily wage workers but said availability of raw materials may be an issue. NAREDCO President Niranjan Hiranandani said, "The government has issued an order which allows staggered reopening on the stalled construction work to partially resume from 20 April 2020, subject to terms and conditions. The real estate industry acknowledges the positive impact this will have in handling the migrant crisis." The relaxation has come at the right time as the situation was very grim to keep construction workers at the site afloat, he said. Credai National Chairman Jaxay Shah said the directives issued by the Ministry of Home affairs will boost the country's economic growth in a slow but steady manner. "We, however, await the directives by the state government," he said. The realty sector remains the second largest employer after agriculture and halt in construction activities will have a long-term impact on the realty sector, Shah noted. "We therefore urge the government to allow construction activity and supply chain in a staggered manner. We are already taking care of the workers and construction can begin amidst the present conditions. We are also ready to start construction at those sites where labourers are already present with subject to the supply chain," Shah said. Anuj Puri, Chairman - ANAROCK Property Consultants said: "Offering some relief to the construction sector, the government has permitted activity to resume in non-Covid-19 hotspots, provided they follow strict social distancing guidelines. However, the guideline clearly mentions that no construction worker will be brought from outside and only those currently available on the site will be able to resume work." The move to start at least some of the construction activity on project sites, even with limited workforce, is certainly welcome, Puri said. "That said, since many migrant workers had left for their villages post lockdown 1.0 announcement, we will have to wait and see how many are actually left back to resume work. Migrant workers comprise at least 80 per cent share of the total 44 million workforce in the construction sector currently," he said. CREDAI-NCR President Pankaj Bajaj said, "We are awaiting clarity. It seems that Noida construction may be allowed outside the hotspots, But practically it seems impossible. Labour has to stay in-house. Most projects are at the finishing stage. At such stage, labour does not stay in-house." "The other problem is supply of raw material. Large restrictions are still in force for the production of those goods. Nearly 200 different items go in the construction," Bajaj said. Supertech Chairman R K Arora spoke about the challenges for starting construction work. "We require different types of labour in consultation i.e. labour, mason, carpenter, plumbers and bar binders, etc and all are not available at site. Work without construction materials will not be possible since industry related to construction are not allowed till May 3," Arora said. "By allowing in-situ projects, to commence construction work is a step in the right direction. Upon successful experience, construction activities should be allowed across all projects," said Ashish Bhutani ,MD and CEO Bhutani Infra. The decision to resume construction activities will help in job creation, said Ankush Kaul, President (Sales &amp; Marketing)- Ambience group said. Vikas Bhasin, CMD, Saya Homes, said: "Permitting construction activities although with conditions is the right approach and we wholeheartedly welcome it. But the implementation will be subject to guidelines issued by respective states, we will have to wait and watch for clarity to emerge." Rajat Goel, JMD, MRG World, said, "Allowing in-situ projects, falling within the boundaries of Municipal Corporation to commence construction, while following social distancing norms is a step in the right direction. This will immensely help the daily wage labourers." Sriram Mahadevan, MD, Joyville Shapoorji Housing, said, "We welcome the move by the Government of India towards gradual lifting of the lockdown in a calibrated manner and in turn help resumption of construction activity in non-Covid hotspots with effect from April 20, 2020." Post a complete shut down, this step would help lift the sentiments of all the labour force who have been staying at their respective sites since the lock down was announced, he added. In order to ensure lost momentum is regained as soon as possible, inflow of raw materials is also very critical, Mahadevan said. Lockdown: Realtors hail govt move to allow resuming construction works

New Delhi, Feb 6 () Economists and financial experts have welcomed RBI's widely expected status quo on repo rate, and other announcements to spur economic growth and ensure money supplies effectively. The RBI on Thursday kept the key policy rate unchanged at 5.15 per cent. This follows a cumulative 135 basis points (bps) cut in repo rate since February to December 2019. The six-member Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) headed by RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das unanimously decided to keep the repo rate unchanged. Bank of India CMD A K Das termed the RBI policy quite progressive and forward looking. "Notwithstanding unchanged policy rates, introduction of Term Repo opens up ways to transmit the signal rate changes," he said. "Measures like DCCO extension for realty, MSME window expansion for restructuring and CRR exemption for incremental funding to key segments are growth oriented and promise to provide the much needed impetus to bank lending," Das said. According to Rajni Thakur, Economist, RBL Bank, MPC's decision was on expected lines. "The changes in development and regulatory policies however were a positive surprise and could potentially turn out to be a big support to the troubled sectors in the economy," Thakur said. Specific announcements in terms of CRR relief or long-term durable liquidity for banks push the overall credit availability in the financial system. Whether these steps manage to improve demand conditions is another question all together, she added. The RBI has announced term repurchase agreements (repos) of one-year and three-year tenors of appropriate sizes for a total amount of Rs 1 lakh crore at the policy repo rate, from the fortnight beginning February 15. "It is an effort to ensure better monetary policy transmission. It will enable banks to reduce their lending rates," RBI Governor Das told reporters in the post policy conference. Upasna Bhardwaj, Economist, Kotak Mahindra Bank said very aptly, MPC has addressed the growth concerns through pushing transmission via tweaking the liquidity framework, providing long term liquidity operations and incentivising credit to select sectors. "We expect these measures to aid transmission with the shorter end of the yield curve expected to rally meaningfully. These measures should help availability of funds at lower costs and aid sectors in stress," Bhardwaj said. ICRA Economist Aditi Nayar said: "The tone of the MPC's statement was rather dovish, especially given the reiteration that policy space is available for future action. "The accommodative stance will be maintained for as long as necessary to revive growth, in spite of the headline inflation having breached the upper threshold of the MPC's medium term target." The RBI also raised upwards the retail inflation projection for last quarter of this fiscal to 6.5 per cent citing high input cost for milk and pulses besides costlier crude oil prices amid rising geo-political tensions. Nayar said the statement suggests the near certainty of at least one additional rate cut, even if its magnitude is modest, the timing of which will depend on how quickly inflation appears to be reverting towards 4 per cent. Umesh Revankar, MD and CEO - Shriram Transport Finance said the attention-grabbing aspect of the policy is marginal improvement in IIP, manufacturing index (PMI) and service index. These numbers depict beginning of increasing activity though still under wait and watch radar to bring in any further excitement, he said. "We believe that all the policy decisions along with pro-consumption budget corroborates that there would be better demand from the consumption side. Once that increases, automatically there will be better credit demand," Revankar said. The expansionary monetary policy stance was necessary and is an assurance that there will be no reversal of easing and that the RBI will not hike rates immediately, opined Rumki Majumdar, Economist, Deloitte India. Engineering Exports and Promotion Council (EEPC) Chairman Ravi Sehgal said RBI measures to provide one-time restructuring window for advances to MSMEs would help growth revival in the employment-oriented sectors. MSMEs contribute significantly to the country's exports. "With global markets being subdued, exporters, particularly those in the SMEs are facing challenges. The RBI measures through loan restructuring and providing CRR incentives to the banks to lend to MSMEs would certainly help the exporting sector," he said. Ample liquidity with the banks should lead to lowering of interest rates as part of effective transmission of earlier reductions, he added.Anarock Property Consultants Chairman Anuj Puri said the extension for restructuring of project loans by a year is a major relief to the real estate sector. It complements many of the previous initiatives by the government in 2019. "Loans for projects that have been delayed for reasons beyond the control of their promoters have been extended by another one year without downgrading the asset classification. This is a big move and will bring the much-needed relief to the cash-starved real estate sector - and to both developers and HFCs from the liquidity perspective," Puri said. KPM KPM ANUANU
