As the 44-day funding-raising <keyword id="6359590" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Campaign">campaign</keyword> for the <keyword id="6354931" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ayodhya">Ayodhya</keyword>'s <keyword id="2186945" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ram-temple-construction">Ram Temple construction</keyword> came to an end on Saturday, the Trust associated with the drive said that they have collected over ₹2,100 crore. Prior to the crowdfunding campaign launch on January 15, the Trust had projected an estimate of ₹1,100 crore for the Ram temple complex construction, but it received more than ₹1,000 crore over projection. Shri <keyword id="81812" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ram-janambhoomi">Ram Janambhoomi</keyword> Teerth Kshetra Trust treasurer, Govind Dev Giri, told reporters, "The funds-raising campaign has ended with generous contributions from all cross-sections of the people, including residents of far-flung villages of India, blurring religious barriers. Total donations received has crossed ₹2,100 crore by Saturday evening." Giri had pegged the construction cost of the temple at ₹300-400 crore, while making an estimate of ₹1,100 crore for building the entire complex on Ram Janambhoomi in December last year. Ayodhya seers have now advised the temple trust to use the surplus <keyword id="6354840" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="money">money</keyword> for development of Ayodhya and warned against misuse of the money donated by crores of <keyword id="2623428" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ram-bhakts">Ram Bhakts</keyword>. However, Anil Misra, member of the Trust said, "The budget for building the temple complex is not final and this will be known only after the construction is complete." Swami Paramhans Acharya, of Tapasvi Chhavni said, "The Trust should use additional funds to set up a Sanskrit University in Ayodhya in the name of Mata Sita and establish a gaushala for free supply of milk in the temple town." Mahant Dhinendra Das of Nirmohi Akhara, said that "the money was donated by millions of Indians in the name of Lord Ram and the excess money should be used for the welfare of Ayodhya and its temples". Hanuman Garhi temple priest, Mahant Raju Das, said the money could be used to revamp dilapidated temples in Ayodhya. Ayodhya's Ram Temple collects nearly ₹2,100 crore funds for its construction, says associated Trust

Mumbai, The <keyword id="41267" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ram-temple">Ram temple</keyword> in <keyword id="6354931" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ayodhya">Ayodhya</keyword> will be built in around three years and the construction cost of the <keyword id="6355739" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Project">project</keyword> will exceed ₹1100 crore, a prominent functionary of the <keyword id="252901" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Temple-Trust">temple trust</keyword> has said. "The main temple will be built in three to three and a half years and will cost ₹300-400 crore. The expenditure on the development of the entire 70 acre land there will exceed ₹1100 crore," said <keyword id="10646286" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Swami-Govind">Swami Govind</keyword> Dev Giri Maharaj, treasurer of Ram Janmabhoomi Tirath Kshetra Nyas. He said he arrived at these figures after consulting experts involved in the Ram temple construction project. The Nyas (trust) has not come out with an official statement so far on the expenditure involved in the project, he said while talking to ABP Majha Marathi TV channel. "It was possible for us to raise funds (for the temple construction) from some corporate people. Some (corporate) families had approached us, requesting us to hand over the (temple) designs and assuring us they will complete the temple project, but I humbly declined that request," he said. To a query on criticism from some quarters that the Ram temple funds collection drive is a BJP campaign keeping in view the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, he said, "People see this depending on the colour of spectacles they wear. We don't wear any spectacles and our eyes are pointing at the path of devotion." "Our target is to reach 6.5 lakh villages and 15 crore homes (for collecting funds for the temple work)," he said. Asked if he is willing to go to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray's residence Matoshree in suburban Mumbai to collect funds for the Ram temple construction, he said, "I am willing to go there if he is ready to contribute." Ram temple to be built in three years, will cost more than ₹1100 crore, says Trust treasurer

New Delhi, Prime Minister <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> on Wednesday announced in the Lok Sabha that the government has given approval to a proposal for "Shri Ramjanmabhoomi Tirtha Kshetra" trust to take care of the construction of grand Ram temple in <keyword id="6354931" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ayodhya">Ayodhya</keyword> and other related issues. Modi said that the historic decision was taken on Wednesday morning meeting of the Union cabinet in view of the Supreme Court's November 9 judgement on Ramjanmabhoomi issue. The Prime Minister said that the trust will have "autonomy" and will be able to take decisions on Ram temple and other related issues "freely". "The trust will be free to take any decision," he said. Modi also announced that the 67.703 acre land earmarked for the construction of the Ram temple will also be handed over to the trust. He said that a plan has been prepared for the construction of the temple on Ram "janmasthali". Prime Minister also said that the Uttar Pradesh government has given approval for five acre land to be handed over to Sunni Central Waqf Board, as directed by the apex court. "Join me in support of the construction of a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya on this historic occasion," Modi appealed to the members of the House. Highlighting the Indian culture of inclusiveness, Prime Minister said that people had shown utmost restraint in the aftermath of Ayodhya verdict. "I hail the people of India for exhibiting such restraint," he said. On November 9 last year, the Supreme Court in a historic judgment gave the Ramjanmabhoomi to Hindus for the construction of a temple rejecting the claims of the Muslims. The top Court had also given a three-month timeline to set up a trust for a temple at Ramjanmabhoomi where the 16th century Babri mosque stood before it was razed by Hindu activists in December 1992.

Sources said that donations totalling Rs 4.60 crore were received in two separate official accounts of the trust since March 25 when the lockdown was first imposed. Online donations also came for the temple from the day the trust rolled out a net banking option on <keyword id="6357210" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ram-Navami">Ram Navami</keyword> this year. Sources confided that over 5,000 people have availed the option. "The interesting part is that people are contributing from Rs 11 to whatever they can afford. But bigger amounts have come via cheques or e-banking," said a trust member. The treasurer further said that the trust was loaded with queries for donations from overseas. "We cannot accept money from NRIs till we get the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act certification which is in process. Then, the trust will immediately get donations worth Rs 5-7 crore," he said. Trust officials also made it clear they were not averse to accepting donations from people of other religions.
