Yesterday, Hyundai Motors India experienced a muted debut on the exchanges, opening at Rs 1,934, at a discount of Rs 26, or 1.3%, below the issue price of Rs 1,960. The last time an automobile giant rolled their wheels into Indian markets was in 2003, when Japanese carmaker Maruti Suzuki came with its IPO worth Rs 993.35 crore. <h2> Mega IPOs, dud returns</h2>While HMIL's IPO was the biggest initial share sale in the country ever, even surpassing LIC's initial share sale of Rs 21,000 crore, it continued the trend of mega-IPOs delivering subpar returns. Data suggests that only 3 out of India's biggest-ever IPOs managed to deliver positive listing day gains. Even LIC's listing had yielded listing-day losses of about 7.75% for investors. Only Coal India's issue worth Rs 15,199 crore, which opened for subscription in 2010, and Zomato's issue worth Rs 9,375 crore in 2021 have managed to duck this trend. While Coal India's debut delivered listing day gains worth 39.73%, Zomato yielded a staggering 65.59% debut gain for its investors. In the last decade, DLF's IPO worth Rs 9,187 crore, which came in 2007, resulted in listing day gains of about 8.58% for its investors.

Proceeds from the fresh issue, to the extent of Rs 146 crore will be used for payment of debt and the remaining funds will be used for general corporate purposes. The June quarter has been a "good quarter" in terms of growth and profitability, Chairman and CEO <keyword id="19914967" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bhavish-Aggarwal" source="keywords">Bhavish Aggarwal</keyword> said in a post-earnings call. Meanwhile, the group has rebranded its ride-hailing service as Ola Consumer announced a partnership with Open Network of Digital Commerce (ONDC) and launched automated warehousing solutions to cater to quick commerce requirements. Besides, Ola said it will bring to the market the first indigenously designed and developed family of chips for AI, general and Edge computing by 2026 under its Krutrim venture. Speaking at Sankalp 2024 - Ola's annual launch event on Thursday, Ola Founder Bhavish Aggarwal said currently, two-thirds of India's two-wheeler market consists of motorcycles, and it was imperative for the company to enter the segment. "We have already been successful in accelerating the EV adoption in the scooter segment, and with our futuristic portfolio of products, we are now focused on supercharging the EV penetration through our motorcycles," he said. Aggarwal also said Ola's indigenously developed '<keyword id="22807913" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="bharat-4680" source="Orion">Bharat 4680</keyword>' cell and battery pack will be integrated with its own vehicles starting in the first quarter of FY26. The company showcased its all-new Gen-3 platform for two-wheelers. "Coupled with the integration of our cells in our vehicles starting early next year, we are determined to chart a new course for mass EV adoption across India," Aggarwal added.

The stock opened at Rs 361.20, up 0.33 per cent from the issue price on the BSE. However, it later gathered momentum and jumped 10.36 per cent to settle at Rs 397.30 -- its upper circuit limit. The stock made its debut at Rs 365, reflecting a gain of 1.38 per cent on the NSE. Shares of the company zoomed 11.52 per cent to settle at Rs 401.50 -- the upper circuit limit. In traded volume terms, 19.07 lakh shares of the company were traded on the BSE, and over 2.23 crore shares were traded on the NSE during the day. The company's market valuation stood at Rs 8,840.02 crore. The initial share sale of <keyword id="20466028" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="juniper-hotels" source="keywords">Juniper Hotels</keyword> was subscribed 2.08 times on the last day of the offer on Friday. The IPO was entirely a fresh issue of equity shares worth Rs 1,800 crore and the price band for the offer was Rs 342-360 apiece. Funds to the tune of Rs 1,500 crore will be utilised for repayment of debt availed by the company and subsidiaries -- Chartered Hotels Pvt Ltd and Chartered Hampi Hotels Pvt Ltd. Besides, a portion of the proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes. The hospitality firm had a portfolio of seven hotels and serviced apartments and operated 1,836 keys across the luxury, upper upscale, and upscale categories of hotels in India as of September 2023. Currently, <keyword id="20585799" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="saraf-hotels" source="keywords">Saraf Hotels</keyword> owns a 44.68 per cent stake in Juniper Hotels, <keyword id="20664738" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="two-seas-holdings" source="keywords">Two Seas Holdings</keyword> holds a 50 per cent stake and the remaining 5.32 per cent shareholding is with <keyword id="20757444" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="juniper-investments" source="keywords">Juniper Investments</keyword>.
