Principal Secretary <keyword id="6882433" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="shaleen-kabra">Shaleen Kabra</keyword> in a notification said that mobile Internet in some areas of the Kashmir Valley had to be suspended for limited period of time due to acts of terrorism over the last week and the apprehension regarding disruption of public order with the aim of causing dissatisfaction and discontent against the state. "I being satisfied that it is absolutely necessary to do so, in the interest of the sovereignty and integrity of <keyword id="3658" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="India">India</keyword>, the security of the state and for maintaining public order," Shaleen Kabra Principal Secretary to the government, Home department said in the notification. Further, the whitelisted sites shall be as per the annexure, with updation being a continuous process.

Jammu, Apr 27 () Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu on Monday called for preparing in advance a comprehensive strategy for the post-May 3 scenario to combat the COVID-19 pandemic in the union territory. The Lt governor was chairing a meeting on COVID-19 control efforts at the Raj Bhavan soon after an interaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi through video conferencing, to discuss the emerging situation and plan ahead for tackling the COVID-19 pandemic, an official spokesman said. Murmu underlined the importance of continued efforts at all levels of the administration in the fight against coronavirus in the UT and asked the officers to formulate an effective rapid response mechanism so that pro-active steps can be taken to deal with any emerging situation when the lockdown will be lifted. The Lt governor noted that the increased testing is the key in identifying and combating the pandemic, and asked the officers to ensure the sustainability of the testing speed and to explore the possibilities of increasing the same, the spokesman said. Murmu directed for an effective implementation of restrictions in red-zones to contain the spread of the deadly virus. He urged the J&amp;K Bank to reach out to the masses with the digital banking facilities by encouraging them to use UPI, BHIM, QR, in addition to the use of Aarogya Setu application. He further directed the officers to take necessary measures to fulfill the nutritional requirements of the vulnerable population with a special focus on destitutes and slum dwellers, the spokesman said. Lockdown: Murmu calls for formulation of comprehensive strategy post-May 3 scenario

Jammu, Apr 14 () As many as 204 prisoners, including 45 who were arrested under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA), were released this month to decongest jails across Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic, a senior government official said on Tuesday.In addition, the Home department has also revoked the PSA of 41 prisoners who are held in different jails outside the Union Territory and ordered their release, the official said."A total of 204 prisoners have been released from various jails of the Union Territory between April 1 and 13. They include 45 prisoners arrested under the PSA, 78 undertrials through the undertrial review committee, nine undertrials falling under section 107, 109, 151 of the CrPC," a senior government official told .Among the 204, 16 prisoners were released on parole, he said.On April 1, a three-member high powered committee headed by Executive Chairman J-K State Legal Services Authority (SLSA), Justice Rajesh Bindal along with Principal Secretary, Home Department, Shaleen Kabra and DGP (Prisons), V K Singh as its members, passed directions for the release of jail inmates except those involved in militancy related cases to decongest the prisons in the Union Territory.The committee was constituted by the Jammu and Kashmir government following an order by the Supreme Court on March 23, directing the states and the UTs to decongest jails to ensure social distancing among the prisoners, while observing that overcrowding of prisons is a matter of serious concern in the wake of coronavirus outbreak.The official said the highest number of 39 jail inmates were released from central Jail in Srinagar followed by 28 each from central jail in Kot Bhalwal and district jail in Rajouri, 24 from district jail in Anantnag, 19 from district jail in Udhampur, 18 from district jail in Jammu and 16 from district jail in Kupwara.As many as 15 prisoners were released from sub-jail in Hiranagar, 10 from special jail (correction home) in Pulwama, two from district jail in Bhaderwah and one from district jail in Baramulla, he said.The official said the process for the release of 41 more prisoners from Kashmir, who are under detention in different jails outside Jammu and Kashmir since August last year, was also set into motion with the Home department revoking their PSA.The prisoners included 15 from Baramulla, eight from Pulwama, seven from Anantnag, three from Kupwara, two each from Ganderbal, Bandipora and Budgam and one each from Kulgam and Srinagar, the official said. Jammu, Apr 19 () Thirty-two prisoners, including 16 arrested under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA), were released to decongest jails across Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic, officials said on Sunday.A total of 236 prisoners have been released this month by the Jammu and Kashmir administration on the directions of the Supreme Court. "Thirty-two more prisoners were released from various jails between April 14 and 17. They included 16 who were held under PSA and six under trial prisoners besides two who were released on parole," a senior government official told . He said the highest number of 11 prisoners including 10 PSA detainees were released from the Central Jail Kot Bhalwal in Jammu followed by eight from Central Jail Srinagar. Those released from Central Jail Srinagar included three PSA detainees and an equal number of undertrials besides one who was set free on parole. Three PSA detainees were released from sub-jail Hiranagar, district jail Anantnag and district jail Bhaderwah, while two undertrial prisoners were released from district jail Jammu and another undertrial from sub-jail Hiranagar, the official said. He said another prisoner was released on parole from district jail Bhaderwah, while six other prisoners were released from special jail (correction home) Pulwama (two), district Jail Anantnag (two) and district jail Baramulla and district jail Udhampur (one each).
