Directed by Vikas Bahl, this thriller hit theatres worldwide on March 8. This week, 'Shaitaan' pocketed ₹6.25 crore on Wednesday, echoing Tuesday’s earnings of ₹6.5 crore but falling behind the ₹7 crore net recorded on Monday. Consequently, the film's cumulative domestic collection has soared to ₹74 crore at the Indian box office alone. On Wednesday, the supernatural film reported an overall Hindi occupancy rate of 13.08%, with night shows witnessing the highest occupancy at 18.91%. The upcoming line-up for India in 2024 includes non-fiction content such as "Modern Masters feat. SS Rajamouli", "Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale" and "Yo Yo Honey Singh". Mumbai, Jul 15 () Rajkummar Rao has been roped in to star in the Hindi remake of Telugu cop thriller film "HIT", the makers announced on Wednesday. "HIT", which stands for Homicide Intervention Team - tells the story of a cop who is on the trail of a missing woman. The 2020 original starred Vishwak Sen and Ruhani Sharma in the lead. Directed by Sailesh Kolanu, the Hindi remake of the action-thriller that doubles up as a cop drama will star Rao in the lead. Dil Raju is attached to produce. "When I saw 'HIT', I instantly connected with it. It's an engaging story, relevant in today's environment. As an actor I am always on the look out to play characters I haven't explored and 'HIT' gives me a chance to do that . I'm looking forward to take this journey with Sailesh and Dil Raju," Rao said in a statement. Kolanu, who also directed the original film, said the actor was apt to play the role of a troubled cop. "The first case of 'HIT' tells the story of a police officer who is constantly fighting a battle with his past and his present. So it's a troubled character. I wanted to cast someone who can bring that darkness to the role and still make the audience root for him with a matured performance. I felt Raj can evoke that kind of a response," he said. The director said he has been following Rao's work since 2011's critically-acclaimed film "Shaitaan", in which the actor played the role of a police officer. "He is a terrific actor and has managed to surprise us every time with his performances. I am really excited to be working with Rajkummar Rao and Dil Raju sir on this project," Kolanu said. "HIT" is planned as an investigation franchise in the south and Kolanu is keen to follow that in Bollywood as well. "I feel the premise of 'HIT' is very global. But I will be making very minor changes to suit the sensibilities of the audience all over India," Kolanu said. Raju, who is remaking 2019 Telugu sports drama "Jersey" in Hindi with Shahid Kapoor, will be backing this venture under Dil Raju Productions banner along with Kuldeep Rathore. So much so, makers of one of the films--Ujda Chaman staring Sunny Singh of Sony ki Tittu ki Sweety fame-- filed a legal case against the makers of Ayushman Khurana’s Bala. The trailers of both the films promises the same story of a single man’s losing fight with — premature baldness. Amidst the melee, yet another movie with the same story line released, drawing little attention. Gone Kesh starring Shwetha Tripathi also tells the story of a young girl Enakshi who wants to get married but unable to because of her a medical condition called alopecia — an autoimmune disorder that often results in hair loss. The film was released in March this year and reportedly earned ₹1.3 crores on the day of release. But the real fight is between Bala and Ujda Chaman. Apart from the same plot, the look of two actors and dialogues are too similar to miss. Strangely both the films will hit the theatres within a gap of 24 hours. Bala will release on November 7 — a week before its original schedule — while Ujda Chaman will hit the theatres a day later, on November 8. Ujda Chaman’s director Abhisekh Pathak claims his film is an official remake of <keyword id="4293900" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="ondu-motteya-kathe">Ondu Motteya Kathe</keyword> a 2017 Kannada movie. Bala’s director Amar Kaushik however stands strong on the originality of his film. "I am away from all of this. I am doing a film, I am also getting to know that this film ('Bala') is kind of similar. Initially you feel like 'why and how is this happening?' but then you feel it's ok. He's playing his part, I am playing mine. We both are actors doing our jobs. I love him and I'm a fan of his acting," said Sunny Singh, the actor of Ujda Chaman. As if this drama isn’t enough, <keyword id="188" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="20" keywordseo="Diwali">Diwali</keyword> release Housefull 4 also shows Akshay Kumar sporting a bald look.
