Top VC firm <keyword id="136147" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="sequoia-capital-india" source="Orion">Sequoia Capital India</keyword> has sold 17.2 crore shares of <keyword id="830092" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="zomato" source="Orion">Zomato</keyword> in two tranches in the open market, lowering down its stake in the online food aggregator to 4.4 per cent from earlier 6.41 per cent. In a fresh filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange (<keyword id="35140" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="bse" source="Orion">BSE</keyword>), Zomato said Sequoia Capital India sold some 6.7 crore shares in the September 6-October 14, 2021 period and 10.5 crore shares between June 27-August 25, 2022. The stock sales were performed by <keyword id="14821825" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="sequoia-capital-india-growth-investment-holdings" source="Orion">Sequoia Capital India Growth Investment Holdings</keyword> I and <keyword id="13302083" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="sci-growth-investments-ii" source="Orion">SCI Growth Investments II</keyword>, according to Zomato. <keyword id="10639596" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="sequoia-capital-india-investments-iv" source="Orion">Sequoia Capital India Investments IV</keyword> also received 45,153,346 incremental equity shares on August 10 owing to the acquisition of quick-commerce delivery platform Blinkit, which further has a lock-in period of one year. Sequoia Capital India joins a list of private market investors like Delivery Hero, Moore Strategic Ventures, and <keyword id="526777" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="tiger-global" source="Orion">Tiger Global</keyword>, which have sold their shares in Zomato in the past months, either in open market or via block deals, as the online food delivery platform's stock gets hammered. On Friday, Zomato shares closed around Rs 61.85. Earlier this month, ride-hailing platform Uber sold its 7.8 per cent stake worth over $390 million in Zomato. Uber, which suffered around $707 million loss in its Zomato investment in the first half of this year, sold its share in the food delivery aggregator via a block deal on stock exchanges that has been bought by several global and Indian VCs. The Zomato block deal was executed at Rs 50.44 per share equivalent to 612 million or 7.8 per cent of total outstanding shares. In a statement to IANS, Zomato had said that "We are a public company and are not privy to what our shareholders are doing with their shares". According to the company, the losses for Blinkit are coming down every month -- from Rs 2,040 million (about $26 million) in January 2022 to Rs 929 million ($12 million) in July. The 10-minute delivery platform was acquired by Zomato for Rs 4,447 crore (about $568 million). Sequoia Capital offloads 2% of its stake in Zomato

B9 Beverages Ltd, Bira 91's parent company, on Wednesday said it is raising $25 million in new funding from <keyword id="20841250" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tiger-pacific-capital" source="keywords">Tiger Pacific Capital</keyword>, an Asia-focused fund headquartered in New York and Hong Kong. The new investment is part of a $50 million round raised by the company, with participation from its existing investor, <keyword id="20635955" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="kirin-holdings" source="keywords">Kirin Holdings</keyword> of Japan, and Tiger Pacific Capital from New York, it said in a statement. Bira 91 raises $25 mn to expand manufacturing footprint

The initial share sale will be available for public subscription during July 3-5 and the bidding for anchor investors will open for a day on July 2, the company announced. The IPO comprises fresh issuance of equity shares worth Rs 800 crore and an Offer For Sale (OFS) of 1.14 crore equity shares to the tune of Rs 1,152 crore, at the upper end of the price band, by promoters and existing shareholders. This aggregates the total public size to Rs 1,952 crore. Those selling shares in the OFS include promoter Satish Mehta and investor BC Investments IV Ltd, an affiliate of US-based private equity major Bain Capital. Currently, Satish Mehta holds a 41.85 per cent stake in the company and BC Investments owns a 13.07 per cent stake. Proceeds of the fresh issue will be used towards payment of debt and for general corporate purposes. Brokerage houses have pegged the company's market capitalisation to over Rs 19,000 crore post-issue. The Pune-based firm Emcure Pharmaceuticals is engaged in developing, manufacturing, and globally marketing a broad range of pharmaceutical products across several major therapeutic areas. Employee portion has been reserved up to 108,900 equity shares in the IPO. Besides, half of the issue size has been reserved for qualified institutional investors (QIBs), 35 per cent for retail investors and the remaining 15 per cent for non-institutional investors. Further, investors can bid for a minimum of 14 shares and in multiples of 14 shares thereafter. Kotak Mahindra Capital Company, Jefferies India, Axis Capital, and JP Morgan India are the book-running lead managers to the issue. The equity shares of the company are expected to list on the BSE and NSE on July 10. Earlier this month, the company received Sebi's go-ahead to float initial share sale.

Bain Capital-backed Emcure Pharma to float ₹1,952-crore IPO on July 3

Canada Pension Plan Investment Board has committed to invest USD 205 million in <keyword id="2024711" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="indospace" source="Orion">IndoSpace</keyword>'s new real estate fund to develop industrial and logistics parks in <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>. IndoSpace is one of the largest investor, developer, and operator of grade A industrial and logistics real estate in India. It has a national network of 50 logistics parks with 56 million square feet delivered/under development across 10 cities. According to a statement, the investment by Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (<keyword id="11083569" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="cpp-investments" source="Orion">CPP Investments</keyword>) marks the first close for IndoSpace Logistics Parks IV (<keyword id="16290722" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="ilp-iv" source="Orion">ILP IV</keyword>), the company's fourth development vehicle targeting USD 600 million of total equity commitments. CPP Investments is an anchor investor in the new fund. This is the latest venture between CPP Investments and IndoSpace. The first joint venture, IndoSpace Core, was established in 2017 and it now owns a large portfolio of stabilized modern logistics assets in India. Zuckerberg's Meta partners with Kalaari Capital to upskill young startups in India

Payment solutions company Twid raises $12 million in series A funding from Rakuten Capital, Google and others

Merchant payment and lending service provider <keyword id="7349800" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="bharatpe">BharatPe</keyword> on Thursday said it has acquired <keyword id="1917213" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="PAYBACK-India">Payback India</keyword> from <keyword id="91294" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="American-Express">American Express</keyword> and ICICI Investments Strategic Fund. The company, however, did not disclose the financial details of the transaction. This is the first-ever acquisition by BharatPe and will make Payback <keyword id="3658" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="India">India</keyword> a wholly-owned subsidiary of BharatPe, a statement said. Payback India - launched in 2010 - is a multi-brand loyalty programme with over 100 million members in the country. It has a network of more than 100 offline and online partners and allows its customers to earn and redeem points on every transaction at its partner merchant outlets. The acquisition of Payback India is in line with BharatPe's strategy to build a robust and engaged network of over 20 million small merchants by 2023, the statement said. With Payback India, BharatPe will be able to enhance its value proposition for the merchant partners, it added. Additionally, it will enable BharatPe to build a lucrative set of offerings for end customers, that will enhance footfalls at merchants and accelerate the growth of their businesses. As a result of the acquisition, all Payback India employees will become part of the BharatPe group. Suhail Sameer and Gautam <keyword id="2220" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kaushik">Kaushik</keyword> (Group Presidents at BharatPe) along with Sumeet Singh, General Counsel of BharatPe, have joined the Board of Payback India. The role of the senior leadership team at Payback India will be expanded to also work on the loyalty programme for the six-million plus merchants of BharatPe, it added. The team, led by Pramod Mahanta (MD Payback India) and Rijish Raghavan (Chief Executive Officer at Payback India), will be working closely with Gautam Kaushik to build a new version of Payback India. Notably, Kaushik was the CEO and MD of Payback India prior to joining BharatPe in February this year. The company (Payback India) will continue operating under its current name and there will be no impact on the existing customer and partner relationships with Payback India that will continue to roll out initiatives for customers across India, the statement noted. "With the acquisition of Payback India, we will be able to add a whole new dimension to our merchant value proposition. In addition to the range of payment and credit products which BharatPe offers to help merchants scale their business, we will also be able to drive more consumers to their stores," BharatPe co-founder and CEO Ashneer Grover said. He added that the company is committed to build India's largest and most engaged merchant network and this acquisition will be a "game-changer" in that regard. It processes over 10 crore UPI transactions per month (annualised Transaction Processed Value of more than USD 10 billion) and facilitated disbursement of loans totaling to over Rs 1,600 crores to its merchants since launch.
