The vacant Deputy General Manager (Asset Liability Management) position is based out of Mumbai, with an annual salary package of nearly ₹41 lakhs. The registration for the same has begun on 22 July 2019 and the last day to apply is 12 August 2019. Other posts include a vacancy for Deputy General Manager (Capital Planning), 11 for SME Credit Analyst (Sector Specialist), 4 for SME Credit Analyst (Structuring), 10 for SME Credit Analyst, 50 posts for Credit Analyst, 45 for Deputy General Manager (Capital Planning, Asset Liability Management), SME Credit Analyst (Sector Specialist, Structuring), and 35 for SME Credit Analyst, Credit Analyst. Mumbai, Jan 13 () The economic slowdown has adversely impacted employment generation in the country as nearly 16 lakh less jobs are projected to be created in FY20 compared to 89.7 lakh fresh jobs in FY19, a report said.
 According to the SBI research report- Ecowrap, there is a decline in remittances in a few states like Assam and Rajasthan, reflecting downsizing of contractual labourers.
 "In FY19, India had created 89.7 lakh new payrolls as per the EPFO data. In FY20, as per current projected this number could be at least 15.8 lakh lower," the report said.
 The EPFO data primarily covers low paid jobs as the salary is capped at Rs 15,000 per month. As per the calculation done by the report, during April-October 2019, the actual net new payroll was 43.1 lakh which annualised comes out to be 73.9 lakh for FY20.
 The EPFO data does not cover government jobs, state government jobs and private jobs as such data have moved to National Pension Scheme (NPS), beginning 2004.
 "Interestingly, even in the NPS category, state and central government are supposed to create close to 39,000 jobs less in FY20 as per current trends," the report said.
 It said a sample of data on remittances by migrant labourers to selected states in the last one year showed that there is a decline in remittances in states like Assam, Bihar, Rajasthan, Odisha and UP.
 "The delay in resolution of cases under bankruptcy proceedings may have prompted companies to downsize their contractual labourers," it said.
 Over the years, migration has been an important livelihood option for both the poor and the non-poor in the country.
 As a result of unequal growth, people from agriculturally and industrially less-developed states migrate to more developed states in search of job opportunities - for example from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, the southern part of Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and Rajasthan to states like Punjab, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.
 For a large number of migrants, New Delhi is a much-favoured destination due to the abundance of job opportunities, the report said.
 "These migrants have been making significant financial contributions to their families in their places of origin," it said.
 The report further said in the last five years, the overall productivity growth has remained relatively stagnant between 9.4 per cent to 9.9 per cent.
 This slow growth in productivity manifests in low wage growth, it said. 
 The report also cautioned the policymakers of such slower productivity growth as it could encourage over-borrowing by corporations and households, which can create a big risk to economies and fiscal systems. HV ANS

British neobank Tide wants to hire 600 techies and business execs in Hyderabad and Gurugram

Mumbai, Mar 18 () The US-headquartered cloud-based customer relationship management software provider Salesforce has appointed Arundhati Bhattacharya, the past chairman of State Bank of India, as the chairperson and chief executive of its India operations, say sources aware of the development. Bhattacharya, 64, will be based in Mumbai and will join Salesforce India on April 20 and will lead its growth and expansion across the market, the sources told . She will report to Ulrik Nehammer, the general manager for Asia Pacific region. While Salesforce could not be reached for confirmation, Bhattacharya refused to comment saying the matter is private. Bhattacharya was the first woman to lead the more than two centuries-old State Bank of India, which controls over a quarter of the nation's banking system. She retired in 2017 after a one-year extension, spending four decades in various roles and then moved onto the international payment platform Swift India as its chairman, a position she still occupies. Under Bhattacharya, SBI has grown exponentially partly by the merger of the five associate banks and partly because of a good growth environment. The bank has also undergone drastic changes under her chairmanship by technology adoption under her watch which also saw the launch of the bank's digital banking platform Yono. Salesforce provides an array of cloud storage and digital services to clients in India, which it sees as a one of its fastest growing markets. Salesforce India hires ex-SBI chief Bhattacharya as CEO

Mumbai, Jun 10 () The government should come out with a policy for gainful employment of migrant labourers in their home states, especially in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal, an SBI report suggested on Wednesday. The report further said that the government can create a comprehensive data base on migrant workers on the basis of travel history on Shramik special trains, call detail records and record of social sector schemes. "With approximately 58 lakh migrants having gone back to home states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal and more expected, we need a properly crafted policy of gainfully employing such migrant labourers in home states," said SBI Ecowrap. After the government imposed nation-wide lockdown on March 25, 2020 to curb the spread of coronavirus, lakhs of migrant workers returned to their home states. "...we need to build up a comprehensive database of migrant workers and formulate a policy for unorganised sector workers. Tracking the call detail records (CDRs) juxtaposed with travel history of the migrant labourers from Shramik Trains could be the first starting point of constructing such database," suggested the SBI report. The CDRs could give a clear idea of out-migration intensity into districts in states that exhibit a high level of migrant labour movements, the report said, adding these districts could then be the starting point for providing gainful employment to migrant labourers. The report further said that Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal has accounted for close to 90 per cent of the total migrants and hence it is imperative that tailored policies are crafted to absorb such labourers. The report further said that with increasing number of migrant labourers back in home town, it will now be extremely difficult for state governments to provide employment. Against such a background, extending livelihood jobs to job card holders by banks could lead to more money in the hands of the poor and marginalised, it said. "The banks can advance say 40 per cent of the eligible amount to the MGNREGA cardholders based on a simplified application form with the caveat that the interest on such livelihood loans can be guaranteed by the government, the cost of which is minimal at around Rs 4,000 crore," said Ecowrap. ' Effectively, this loan will be self-liquidated when the MGNREGA cardholder contributes labour and pays off debt. It further said that MGNREGA is no longer linked to the Minimum Wages Act and as a result, for a number of instances MGNREGA wage is lower than the state's minimum agricultural wage. Frame policy for employment of migrants in home states, suggests SBI report

Mumbai, Jun 19 () NCR Corporation, the largest teller machine manufacturer with close to half the market share, has installed about 4,000 ATMs for SBI last fiscal, making it one of the largest deals in recent years, a top company official said. The deal, primarily for replacement and by a managed service provider, came at a time when many banks are shutting down ATMs citing low interchange fees due to frequent changes in payment policy following demonetisation in November 2016. Since then, the number of installed teller machines has come down from nearly 2.7 lakh to the present 2.35 lakh. This has also led to some of the very few white label ATM players (unbranded standalone teller machines) like the Muthoot Group quitting the business. Of the little over 2.35 lakh installed teller machines, as much as 1.1 lakh are NCR made, giving it a market share of over 47 per cent, according to the domestic arm of the 136-year-old Atlanta, US-based company. It has a manufacturing plant in Chennai and an R&amp;D centre in Hyderabad. Its immediate rival Diebold has about 70,000 units installed. "Between last October and this March, a managed service provider has sourced close to 4,000 ATMs from us for SBI. This order makes it the single largest order for us in FY20 and also for the industry in recent years," NCR Corp's India head and regional vice-president for banking sales - Asia Pacific, Navroze Dastur, told . The single-largest ATM order was placed by SBI in 2016 when it ordered 7,000 units from multiple vendors. On the impact of the coronavirus pandemic and the resultant lockdowns, Dastur said the March quarter was normal, or in fact better than the previous year, thanks to the SBI order, but the next quarter is set to be a washout. While cash in circulation is at a record high of over Rs 25 lakh crore, ATM usage is only inching back to normal. Daily withdrawals have moved up to Rs 8,200 crore now, which is still lower by 30 per cent from the pre-lockdown days. "But the lockdown has energised us to think out-of-the-box to innovate. Accordingly, we've already started piloting contactless and touchless tellers now as part of our efforts to bringing in safer environment at banks and commercial establishments that use payment machines like large retailers and hotels, among others," he said. To make the transition more cost-effective, the company is upgrading the existing tellers now. "We can convert an existing teller to be contactless and touchless by changing the software to match the QR code between ATM and the mobile phone," he said. Another more advanced development the company is working on is interactive ATMs, or video tellers. "While video tellers are gaining ground in the West, this is not so here. One is high cost, which is five-six times a normal machine and secondly customer behavior which is not very open to such ideas," Dastur said. The company is piloting video tellers with three Standard Chartered branches in Pune, Bengaluru and Chennai, and one branch of IndusInd Bank in Gurugram, he said. The work on these types of ATMs was done in the Hyderabad R&amp;D centre along with the Atlanta headquarters, he said. The machines are manufactured in the Chennai plant. Interactive real-time ATMs can carry out as much as 90 per cent of the banking job. It can perform withdrawals, deposits, printing detailed statements, scan documents and much more, he said, adding the banker can reach out to the customer from his/her home. On the Chennai plant that rolls out around 8,000 units a month, he said as much as 70 per cent of production is exported to the US, Australia, the Middle East and many Asian markets. He further said unless the interchange charges are revised, the banks may not expand their ATM footprint. Mumbai, Jan 8 () The country's largest pure-play mortgage financier HDFC has made a commitment to invest Rs 250 crore in the government-led special fund to revive stalled real estate projects, a top company official said on Wednesday.
 HDFC Chief Executive Keki Mistry, however, added that the realty sector's revival hinges a lot on banks, which are reluctant to lend to stalled projects due to regulatory issues.
 As part of its measures to boost growth, the government had in November last year announced a Rs 25,000 crore package for the real estate sector, including a corpus to help stalled projects.
 SBI Caps, which is managing the fund, had last month announced the first close of the fund with Rs 10,530 crore commitments from investors, including HDFC.
 "We are participating in the fund (with a contribution of) Rs 250 crore," Mistry told reporters on the sidelines of an event by industry lobby CII here.
 Mistry said apart from the fund, support in the form of bank lending is essential for reviving the sector's prospects and flagged his concerns on reluctance among bankers to lend.
 "The problem is that no one wants to do it because when you lend to a project which is NPA in someone's books, you have to straight away classify (it) as NPA from day one, in which case there is a lot of reluctance on the part of banks to participate," he explained.
 Mistry said HDFC has been going slow on project loans for the last four to five quarters because of the overall conditions, but it is focusing on the individual loans segment with the same vigour as before.
 He said the real estate sector is very important for the economy because it helps creates jobs both directly and indirectly.
 Welcoming the Centre's package for the realty sector, he said the government will have to focus on job creation to spur growth momentum. AA ABM

Mumbai, Dec 9 () Market benchmark BSE Sensex rose over 42 points on Monday to close at 40,487.43, driven by buying in select bank and auto counters.
 After opening on a weak note, the 30-share BSE Sensex stabilised in afternoon trade and settled with gains of 42.28 points or 0.10 per cent at 40,487.43. The index swung between a high of 40,645.63 and a low of 40,336.56 during the day.
 The 50-scrip NSE Nifty closed 16 points or 0.13 per cent higher at 11,937.50.
 Among the Sensex stocks, HDFC emerged as the top gainer, rising by 2.06 per cent, followed by Axis Bank, Maruti, Reliance, Power Grid and Tata Steel.
 On the other hand, TCS, HCL Tech, L&amp;T, IndusInd Bank, Tech Mahindra, SBI and ITC lost up to 2.93 per cent.
 Sectorally, BSE Energy index rose the most by 1.06 per cent, followed by oil &amp; gas and auto.
 BSE IT and realty indices led the losers' chart.
 Brent futures, the global oil benchmark, fell 0.81 per cent to USD 63.87 per barrel.

Sensex rises 42 points; bank, auto stocks shine

Mumbai, Dec 9 () Equity benchmark BSE Sensex on Monday fell over 70 points in early trade, dragged mainly by losses in financial and banking stocks amid persistent foreign fund outflows.
The 30-share index was trading 73.38 points or 0.18 per cent lower at 40,371.77 in morning trade; while the broader Nifty was trading 26.10 points or 0.22 per cent down at 11,895.40.
In the previous session, Sensex settled at 40,445.15, down 334.44 points or 0.82 per cent. Likewise, the 50-share Nifty shed 96.90 points or 0.81 per cent to close at 11,921.50.
Bajaj Finance was the biggest loser in the Sensex pack with a decline by 1.28 per cent in morning deals, followed by HUL, ITC, SBI, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Tech Mahindra, TCS and Axis Bank.
On the other hand, Maruti, Vedanta, Tata Steel, HDFC, Tata Motors and Sun Pharma emerged as the gainers, rising up to 1.72 per cent.
 Meanwhile, the rupee appreciated by 10 paise to 71.10 in early session on Monday.
Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) offloaded shares worth Rs 867.66 crore in the capital market on Friday, while domestic institutional investors purchased shares to the tune of Rs 210.72 crore, data available with stock exchange showed.
 Asian stocks were trading mostly higher on Monday following strong US job data amid weak Chinese exports.
 American employers added 266,000 jobs in November, according to the Labor Department data released on Friday.
Marking the fourth straight fall, Chinese exports declined 1.1 in November compared to the same month a year earlier, mainly dragged by weaker shipments to the US that fell 23 per cent.
 Brent futures, the global oil benchmark, fell 0.33 per cent to USD 64.18 per barrel. BAL
