<keyword id="20341279" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sbi-cards-and-payment-services-ltd" source="keywords">SBI Cards and Payment Services Ltd</keyword> has reported an 8 per cent rise in net profit to Rs 549 crore for the third quarter ended December 2023. The pure-play credit card company, promoted by <keyword id="19898108" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sbi" source="keywords">SBI</keyword>, had posted a net profit of Rs 509 crore during the corresponding period of the previous financial year. Total income grew to Rs 4,742 crore during the October-December period from Rs 3,656 crore in the year-ago period, <keyword id="20190417" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sbi-card" source="keywords">SBI Card</keyword> said in a regulatory filing. Total operating cost increased by 23 per cent at Rs 2,426 crore for the third quarter of FY24 from Rs 1,974 crore in the previous fiscal, it said. Gross non-performing assets (NPA) rose to 2.64 per cent during the quarter under review as against 2.22 per cent a year ago. Net NPA too increased to 0.96 per cent from 0.80 per cent at the end of the December quarter of the previous financial year. As a result, impairment losses and bad debt expenses grew to Rs 883 crore from Rs 533 crore in FY23. As of December 31, 2023, the card company's capital adequacy ratio was 18.4 per cent compared to 23.1 per cent as of March 31, 2023. As per the capital adequacy norms issued by the <keyword id="19899808" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="rbi" source="keywords">RBI</keyword>, the company's capital-to-risk ratio consisting of Tier I and Tier II capital should not be less than 15 per cent of its aggregate risk-weighted assets on the balance sheet and of the risk-adjusted value of off-balance sheet items. SBI Card Q3 profit rises 8 pc to ₹549 crore

New Delhi, Apr 23 () SBI Cards and Payment Services has reported outstanding borrowings worth Rs 17,362.86 crore at the end of March, 2020. The company had the highest credit rating during the previous fiscal year ended March 2020 with AAA/ Stable rating by Crisil and ICRA, it said in a regulatory filing on Wednesday. The credit card company, promoted by the country's largest lender SBI, said the borrowings at the end of the previous fiscal were provisional and subject to audit. It further said that it shall be liable to pay a fine to BSE up to 0.2 per cent of shortfall in case there is a deficit in the mandatory borrowing through debt securities, to be levied at the end of the two-year block period. The company said that its brand name is SBI Card and its registered name is SBI Cards and Payment Services Limited. Earlier in a regulatory filing on Tuesday, the company had informed stock exchanges about its business continuity plan amidst the nationwide lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic which has been extended till May 3, 2020, saying it continues to closely monitor its asset quality with regard to collections. "While our field collection operations continue to remain restricted, the company has scaled up its tele-calling capabilities by enabling collection employees and agency personnel to call customers from home," it had said. On liquidity, it said that the company has adequate liquidity as the repayments are higher than daily spends and the surplus so generated is being used to prepay some of the working capital loans. Treasury operations are running normal and all contractual obligations are being serviced including repayment of loans and servicing of interest payments, it added. New Delhi, Feb 28 () SBI Cards and Payment Services' initial public offer of around Rs 9,000 crore will open for subscription on March 2 amid volatile stock markets due to deepening concerns over coronavirus outbreak. For qualified institutional buyers (QIBs), the subscription will close on March 4 while the issue closes on March 5, SBI Cards and Payment Services managing director and chief executive Hardayal Prasad said on Friday. SBI Cards has set the price band at Rs 750-755 for the share sale. According to drafts paper, the proceeds from the IPO will be used to augment the firm's capital base to meet future capital requirement. "The net proceeds are proposed to be utilised for augmenting our Company's capital base which will be utilised towards company's business and growth including towards extending credit to our customers, meeting our operating expenditure and future working capital requirements which are expected to arise out of the growth of our business," it said. According to the draft papers, SBI Cards will offer up to 130,526,798 equity shares through an offer-for-sale route. This will include up to 37,293,371 share sale by SBI and up to 93,233,427 shares on offer by Carlyle Group. In addition, the company will also issue fresh equity shares of Rs 500 crore. SBI holds 76 per cent in SBI Cards and the rest of the stake is held by Carlyle Group. SBI Cards is the second-largest credit card issuer in India with an 18 per cent market share, Prasad said. The IPO is hitting the market at a time when investor sentiment is shaken by growing coronavirus concerns. The joint venture blends the distribution network of SBI with Hitachi’s technology and services including big data, artificial intelligence, analysis and digital payments. The venture will deliver payment services to customers and merchants with Quick Response (QR) code acceptance, Unified Payment Interface (UPI), mass transit sector and e-commerce businesses. Rajnish Kumar, the Chairman of SBI, said that the penetration of payment acceptance infrastructure is still low, at <a href="https://www.business-standard.com/article/finance/sbi-hitachi-form-jv-to-boost-digital-payments-card-acceptance-platforms-118102900350_1.html">2500 Point of Sale (PoS) per million</a>. Hitachi manages over <a href="https://www.business-standard.com/article/finance/sbi-hitachi-form-jv-to-boost-digital-payments-card-acceptance-platforms-118102900350_1.html">70%</a> of SBI’s current network and this decision to create a joint venture is only going to strengthen the partnership. Hitachi Payments manages over<a href="https://www.business-standard.com/article/finance/sbi-hitachi-form-jv-to-boost-digital-payments-card-acceptance-platforms-118102900350_1.html"> 55,000 ATMs</a> in India and has been providing deployment, management services and handling SBI’s digital acceptance payment network since 2011.

SBI Cards and Payment Services has raised Rs 2,769 crore from 74 anchor investors, ahead of its initial share sale starting on March 2. Anchor investors are institutional investors who are offered shares in an initial public offering (IPO) ahead of its opening. Singapore government, Monetary Authority of Singapore, HDFC Mutual Fund, Government Pension Fund Global and Birla Mutual Fund, are among the anchor investors. Shares have been allotted at the offer's upper price band of Rs 755 apiece, as per a regulatory filing. There are 12 mutual funds among the 74 anchor investors, who have been allocated 3,66,69,589 shares and its value stood at Rs 2,768.55 crore. The price band for the share sale -- which would be open from March 2 to 5 -- has been fixed at Rs 750-755 apiece. SBI Cards expects to raise around Rs 9,000 crore through the IPO. Mumbai, Feb 25 () The second largest card issuer SBI Cards &amp; Payment Services, which is hitting the primary market with a Rs 9,000-crore initial public offering, has set the price band for the share sale at Rs 750-755. The IPO, opening on March 2 and closing on 4, comprises fresh issue of equity shares aggregating to Rs 500 crore and an offer for sale where promoters will offload nearly 13 crore shares. Promoters SBI and Carlyle Group will offload 3.73 crore shares and 9.32 shares respectively. SBI holds 74 per cent in SBI Card and the rest by the Carlyle Group and they will pare their stakes by 4 per cent and 10 per cent respectively, SBI Managing Director Dinesh Khara told reporters kicking of the IPO roadshow. SBI Card's market share in terms of the number of credit cards outstanding is 18 per cent. The pure-play credit card company's gross NPA stood at 2.47 per cent in December 2019 compared to 2.44 per cent in March 2019 and 2.83 per cent in March 2018, he said. SBI Card managing director and chief executive Hardayal Prasad attributed the spike in gross NPAs in March 2018 to the entry into new markets post-demonetisation but it did not generate the desired results. "We were testing some waters but it didn't work out the way we were thinking and the delinquency went up to 2.8 per cent. We have worked assiduously in terms of reducing the numbers, and 2.4-2.5 per cent is what we are continuously looking at and would like to maintain it," Prasad said. SBI Card was launched in October 1998 by SBI and GE Capital but in December 2017, GE sold back its stake to State Bank of India and the Carlyle Group. Talking about the merchant discount rate (MDR), Khara said MDR has not been removed for credit cards but only for debit cards. MDR is the fee collected by banks from merchants processing the transactions.
