<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Satya+Nadela&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Satya Nadela</a>, the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Microsoft&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Microsoft</a> CEO, feels Indian IT sector has come up with the next level <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=artificial+intelligence&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">artificial intelligence</a> (AI) technologies that can be produced in the form mass scalable apps and will further drastically improve the quality and reach of education, healthcare, credit and more. 
 In a discussion with <keyword id="44604" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nandan-Nilekani">Nandan Nilekani</keyword>, one of the architects of the country's IT infrastructure, Nadella said that such power and capability was not available earlier. 
 
He also pointed out that his company has analysed the call centre data of all citizen services in Punjab to identify major public problems. While citing his company’s work with the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Andhra+Pradesh+government+&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Andhra Pradesh government </a>that used machine learning to identify reasons for students dropping out of high school, he said that such public-private partnerships can significantly empower the billion-plus people in India. 
 
The IT infrastructure, Nadela referred to included <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Aadhaar&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Aadhaar</a>, the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) that has enabled apps like <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Bhim&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Bhim</a> to allow bank to transfer funds in a jiffy, the eKYC (electronic know your customer) that has enabled companies like <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Reliance+Jio&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Reliance Jio</a> to enrol customers in 2-3 minutes, and eSign that allows any document to be signed electronically using Aadhaar. 
 
He also said that he was also overwhelmed by the entrepreneurial spirit in India, and said Indian startups working in the AI space were changing lives and solving everyday problems.

Microsoft's Satya Nadella says India ready to build mass-scale apps

In a big to strengthen it’s cloud foothold in India, Microsoft has decided to take its cloud services and offer their services via local data centers. Ever since Satya Nadella took over the reins at Microsoft earlier this year, Microsoft has taken a refined mobile first, cloud first philosophy. “India has more than 250 million internet connected devices that offers us the chance to supply our channel of cloud services in the form of Azure and Office 365, Nadella said speaking in front of the media. 
 Microsoft claims to have garnered 100 percent growth in revenue over the past year and with its decision to localize the availability of Azure and Office 365, they are looking to take it a notch further. “With our cloud services, Microsoft is fully committed on its path to make Digital India which can become a reality in the future,” said Bhaskar Pramanik, chairman of <keyword id="28250" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Microsoft-India">Microsoft India</keyword>. 
 
The fact that Indian government realises the need to adopt e-governance methods, with the possibility of other avenues like healthcare and education being in the frame. All this can lead to a scenario wherein cloud services take precedence. 
 
From a business front, Microsoft is sure to benefit from consumers adopting cloud technology; be it private or public. The company is already said to have a 10,000+ partner base that comprises of independent software vendors (ISV), hosters etc. All this form part of Microsoft’s AccelerateIndia initiative which will be majorly focusing on the education sector.

Whenever a leader is being described, adjectives like visionary, strategic, decisive, courageous, accountable, influential, inspiring, passionate are often used. But, after Sundar Pichai got the top job at Google, the word “nice” got added in the corporate dictionary and it became the coolest quality to look for in the new CEO. 
 
Even in the case of Dr. APJ Kalam, whose demise was mourned by one and all across the powerful and the powerless, his popularity and effectiveness was owing to the fact that he made people feel loved, cared and capable to make things happen and improve their lives. The “nice” man was mourned and people are still cherishing the memories of him, whose tenderness and nice ways impacted us Indians. 
 
I, for once feel that the most undervalued and understated trait in a successful leader is to be “nice”. 
 
With the new breed of CEOs, starting with Jeff Immelt to some of the recent appointments of Satya Nadela and Sundar Pichai, the corporate world is finally coming around and recognizing the core value we were taught in our moral science class and our middle class homes. 
 
People must believe in both the message and the messenger and for that they need to be able to relate and imagine themselves in the leader. 
 
Here are a few tenets of ‘niceness’ that we have identified in a leader. This is also what we validated in our Top Companies for Leaders and Best Employers research studies. 
 
1. It is important to be “self-aware”. It is a clear perception of your personality, strengths, weaknesses, thoughts, beliefs, motivation and emotions. Self-awareness helps you understand people and appreciate their strengths and value that they bring. 
 
2. Resilience is another critical ability in these VUCA times. Leaders with high resilience encourage their team during crisis, providing decisive direction when times are difficult and most importantly don’t reprimand failure. Resilient leaders are level-headed, build strong relationships and celebrate small successes. 
 
3. Firms that achieve both top quartile engagement levels and better business results than their peers, find that they have something in common. It’s the prevalence of a certain kind of leader, this individual we call an Engaging Leader. They are not the mettle-testing sorts, but are caring and attentive mentors. They believe that leadership is a contact sport and are thoughtful about human relations.

The recent news on nice guys being appreciated, respected and growing globally is helping us all change in our minds the adage that ‘Nice guys finish last’.

With technology high on both their agendas, Xi had met Nadela, Cook, Zuckerberg and John Chambers, the executive chairman of CISCO, at a meeting in the Microsoft campus on Wednesday as Modi landed in New York to woo big business in the Big Apple. 
 
Ajay Banga, President and CEO, MasterCard, who is also the chairman of the US-India Business Council, and his wife Ritu Banga as also PepsiCo Chairperson and CEO, Indra Nooyi and spouse Raj Nooyi too were at the dinner. 
 
But one notable absentee from the dinner was Google's newly anointed chief executive Sundar Pichai, who had skipped Xi's meeting at Microsoft too. 
 
While a fasting Modi had sipped warm water when Obama hosted him at a working dinner around the same time last year, the guests at the Friday dinner had a lavish spread-wild mushroom soup, poached Maine lobster, grilled cannon of Colorado lamb and poppyseed bread and butter pudding.
