For them, remote working can be a panacea. “If this itself is brought down by a day, the levels of motivation will increase. Employees may even be willing to put in additional hours in 4 days rather than travel the additional day,” Neeti Sharma, senior VP at TeamLease Services told Business Insider. According to a recent survey by recruitment platform Indeed, employees say that if given an option - they would want to work from home at least two days a week. In fact, over half of the surveyed employees said that they would consider changing their job or even take a pay cut in if offered remote working. Increased productivity “The employees get the advantage of working at their convenient times and when their productivity is higher. At the same time, they are also provided with an environment of trust and autonomy. With happier employees and a more trusting environment, productivity naturally increases,” said Ajay Shah, VP and head of recruitment at TeamLease Services. It can also ease the stress that most Indians face. India is the most vacation deprived country in the world, as per a report by Expedia. A lot of employees who wish to go on a vacation are held back at offices because of workload. “If implemented properly, remote working can be a powerful means of engaging the workforce and attracting a wider pool of talent. Employees can channel their creativity more productively if allowed to work at their convenience,” said Sashi Kumar, managing director, Indeed India. The company offers its employees the option of paid time-off — which allows them to manage their time and meet productivity goals on their own schedule. As a cost-cutting measure Remote working can also save costs for the company who do not have to rent out large spaces. “Companies focusing on customer experience also hire people who work from home in dedicated slots for inbound and outbound calls, which saves the overall cost of company. Accenture, Erricsson, Capgemini and IBM are a few examples of flexible work environments,” said Guruprasad Srinivasan, chief operating officer at Quess Corp. Employees too save by working remotely. As per a recent study, an employee working from home saves nearly $6000 annually, while the organisation saves almost twice the amount. <ul><li>Reversing the job-hopping trend, 47% of employees said in a survey that they don't plan to switch jobs in 2023. </li><li>Over 37% of all job seekers are looking to prioritise career growth in 2023, said a survey by Indeed. </li><li>Only 53% of employers surveyed said that they hired in the January-March quarter as compared to 64% in the quarter before. </li></ul>The era of the <keyword id="12242899" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="great-resignation" source="Orion">Great Resignation</keyword> seems to be coming to an end, especially in India. According to a recent survey by job portal Indeed, almost half or 47% of employees say that they don't plan to switch jobs in 2023. “Employees are bucking the trend by choosing to stay put in their current organisations, with over 37% of all job seekers looking to prioritise their career growth in 2023,” the survey which was released on Monday, said. This could be a direct effect of the fact that hiring sentiment has dropped significantly in the last three months. Only 53% of employers said that they hired people in the January-March quarter compared with 64% in the October-December quarter. “Amidst the ongoing uncertainties, the overall sentiment of jobseekers and employers seems to be cautious,” said Sashi Kumar, head of sales at Indeed India. Banking and financial services hire the most Even in times of slim hiring, the banking and financial services and insurance (BFSI) sector witnessed the most significant hiring – 71% of the sector’s employers hired during the January-March quarter. The other two sectors that saw the most hiring are healthcare (64%), and construction &amp; real estate (57%). Apart from slow hiring in the IT and IT-enabled services sector – where only 29% of employers hired, hiring in manufacturing was also low at 39%. “Sectors like BFSI and healthcare are witnessing significant hiring, showcasing a strong future for these areas. Additionally, in 2023, the acceptance of the gig economy at large is also expected to strengthen the job market. Employers now need to focus on devising ways in which they can retain and continue to attract this talent pool,” said Kumar. The findings further suggest that there was a substantial increase in the proportion of employers hiring for mid-level – hitting 27% during the quarter, up from 23% last quarter. Senior-level roles too went up to 12% as compared to 9% last quarter. The proportion of job seekers entering the job market for the first time has also risen to 23% from 16% in the previous quarter. This was followed by the role of project engineer, which was preferred by 23%, and marketing analysts, sought by 20% of employers. “In terms of the most-hired skills in the current quarter, tech skills such as SQL, NoSQL &amp; MongoDB, APIs, CCNA, CCNP, Zigbee, WiSUN, and Z-Wave are the top skills being sought after by employers. Communication, critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making are the top three soft skills that employers are looking for,” the report said. The quarter saw most of its hiring in the functional areas of production/manufacturing (31%) followed by sales at 29%, and marketing at 27%. Despite fears of rising <keyword id="22195" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="INFLATION" source="Orion">inflation</keyword> globally, Indian <keyword id="6515789" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="JOBSEEKERS" source="Orion">jobseekers</keyword> are not adversely affected as far as their livelihood and expenses are concerned, with six in 10 jobseekers saying they have not been impacted much, a new report showed on Thursday. Nearly 89 per cent of <keyword id="22943" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="EMPLOYERS" source="Orion">employers</keyword> also think that inflation will not change the way <keyword id="22917" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="COMPANIES" source="Orion">companies</keyword> hire and pay employees, said the quarterly report by leading job site Indeed. The India job market saw a 29 per cent rise in the April-June period (as compared to a 20 per cent increase in the previous quarter). Moreover, 37 per cent of all jobseekers looked for a job or a job change during the quarter, as compared to 46 per cent during the previous quarter. "Sectors such as IT, healthcare, e-commerce will continue to grow and with the advent of <keyword id="764355" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="5G" source="Orion">5G</keyword>, we will see a sharp rise in telcom jobs as well in the next few quarters," said Sashi Kumar, Head of Sales, Indeed India. As a response to inflation, employers looked at varied engagement modes during the quarter that could help them manage candidate expectations as well as costs such as full time, part time, gig or contractual work. Jobseekers continue to prefer full time work (63 per cent) as opposed to part-time employment (26 per cent) or gig/contract employment (11 per cent). However, on the employer side, the difference is less disproportionate with over 19 per cent employers hiring gig workers during the quarter, the report said. At a 10 per cent salary increment level, which 41 per cent of employers plan to provide to account for inflation, a significant 25 per cent of the jobseekers seem to agree. One in three IT/ITeS sector jobseekers (33 per cent) would like a 20 per cent increment to compensate for inflation. IT/ITeS continued to lead all sectors, with 91 per cent of the employers in the sector hiring during the quarter (83 per cent in the previous quarter). Metros dominated hiring among cities with hiring activity in Bengaluru, Mumbai and Chennai exhibited strong growth in hiring as compared to other cities. Chandigarh showed a substantial increase in hiring over the quarter. Mumbai, Mar 26 () When the world is fighting the coronavirus pandemic, 64 per cent businesses in India said they are ready to ride through the current crisis, according to a survey. Overall 64 per cent of Indian businesses are ready or getting ready to ride through the ongoing crisis due to COVID-19, while 3 per cent of small and medium businesses (SMBs) said they are well prepared and 39 per cent of large businesses said they are gearing up, according to the survey by job site Indeed. The survey was done among 150 employers of SMBs, large organisations and gig economy businesses across 10 cities in India. It showed that businesses are adapting by leveraging collaboration technology to ensure uninterrupted work and developing new policies as the situation evolves to make remote working effective and efficient. The gig economy is best prepared, with 83 per cent of businesses emphasising their contingency plan includes frequent communication protocols and technological infrastructure to ensure seamless remote working, the survey report added. It also found that 50 per cent of Indian businesses have already reduced embedded resources, such as contract workers or freelancers. Recruitment has experienced the greatest impact, with 36 per cent of respondents confirming that they have temporarily suspended their hiring activities, rising to a sizable number of SMBs and large businesses now focused only on critical hiring, it said. "Even as the world is grappling with the pandemic, resilience is being displayed by many employers who are exploring new ways to ensure their workforce is able to function seamlessly and continue the business. The top Indian startups with valuation of over $1 billion each are on a hiring spree and more than half of all job postings by these unicorns are for fresh graduates, according to recent data from global job site Indeed. The report says four unicorns - <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword>, <keyword id="6357120" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="PayTM">Paytm</keyword>, ShopClues and <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword> - make up around 90 per cent of all job postings. "Indeed's latest study reveals that more than half (57 per cent) of all job postings by unicorns are for fresh graduates. This is encouraging for millions of young freshers looking to jumpstart their careers with young companies, and being a part of the exciting startup ecosystem," says Sashi Kumar, India Managing Director at Indeed. With the Indian e-commerce market expected to grow at 30 per cent a year, and attain a valuation worth $200 billion by 2026, companies like Snapdeal, ShopClues and Flipkart are experiencing a boom in business. Moreover, digital service providers like Paytm and Zomato too are thriving, given the government's demonetisation drive and push for cashless transactions and the widespread penetration of mobile literacy. Kumar says - "Our earlier study on job flexibility also indicates a trend towards contractual hiring in these firms, which reaffirms the growing affinity among today's new-age job seekers, who look at striking a balance in work- life integration." Snapdeal topped the chart in terms of percentage of total job postings at 53 per cent, followed by Paytm at 23 per cent, ShopClues (11 per cent), Flipkart (4 per cent), Zomato (4 per cent), Ola Cabs (3 per cent) and InMobi (2 per cent) among others. While the top four firms in terms of hiring together make up over 90 per cent of all jobs posted, the region that saw maximum number of postings from these companies is Delhi NCR, with an overwhelming majority of 83 per cent. The Indeed study included an analysis of job postings from Flipkart, Hike Messenger, InMobi, Mu Sigma, Ola Cabs, Paytm, ShopClues, Snapdeal, RenewPower and Zomato, which were identified as the top Indian startups valued at over $1 billion. All job queries posted within the time-frame of October 31, 2016 to October 31, 2017 were considered for this study.
