Sanjiv Goenka makes a billion dollar comeback to the world's biggest T20 stage

New Delhi, Jul 15 () The RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group on Wednesday said it has acquired a majority stake in video-based news app Editorji Technologies Pvt Ltd, a move that marks its foray into the digital news media space. RP-Sanjiv Goenka (RPSG) Group has acquired 51 per cent stake through a combination of primary and secondary transaction in Editorji Technologies, started by former chief executive officer of NDTV Ltd Vikram Chandra, said a statement. However, the group did not disclose the financial details of the transaction. "I am delighted with the transaction as this investment marks our foray into digital news media space. I believe Editorji is a promising platform to build significant digital media business," RPSG Group chairman Sanjiv Goenka said. The USD 6 billion RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, sees India as an untapped media market. Earlier this month, the RPSG Group had bagged the publishing rights for the global business magazine Fortune for the Indian market. "Massive changes are taking place across the world in the digital domain - where there is a need for personalised, credible and factual news and information. "As part of the RPSG Group, and with strong existing investors like Airtel and HT, Editorji is well-positioned to take advantage of the ongoing digital revolution," Editorji's Managing Director, Vikram Chandra said. RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group acquires 51 pc stake in video news app Editorji

Mumbai, Mar 21 () Wadia group-owned budget carrier GoAir on Saturday announced the appointment of aviation industry veteran Sanjiv Kapoor as advisor to the airline. Kapoor, who quit the Tata-SIA joint venture airline Vistara recently after serving as its chief strategy and commercial officer, will advice GoAir on important business and government matter, the airline said in a release. Significantly, GoAir's current chief executive officer Vinay Dube too had initially been roped in as an advisor by the budget carrier, which keeps witnessing exit from the top deck at frequent intervals. "I welcome Sanjiv to the ever growing GoAir family. His strong domain knowledge and deep expertise in the aviation sector will help GoAir in multiple ways," Dube said in the release. Believing farmer producer organisations (FPOs) can transform agriculture, <keyword id="6357073" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="itc" source="Orion">ITC</keyword> Chairman <keyword id="1968926" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="sanjiv-puri" source="Orion">Sanjiv Puri</keyword> on Friday said there are multiple opportunities in Indian agriculture today to achieve sustainable growth and productivity, given the grit and determination of Indian farmers and a proactive government. Speaking at the CII Agro Tech summit 2022 here, <keyword id="4903" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="puri" source="Orion">Puri</keyword>, who is also a Chairman of the agro tech, said agriculture is the lifeline of the economy and roughly half of <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>'s workforce is engaged in this sector. However, its contribution to the gross value added (GVA) is only about 18 per cent with challenges such as low productivity and wastage, which translates to lower farm incomes. On challenges to the agriculture sector and the impact of climate change, Puri said: "Today the sector is faced with a challenge of epic proportions and it's not unique to this sector or to India. Last year many countries experienced events that dramatically reduced crop production. This year is no different, we have challenges in <keyword id="28249" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="europe" source="Orion">Europe</keyword>, China and the US and recently in Indonesia. We have a neighbour whose agriculture sector has been devastated." India has its own share of problems -- first with wheat and now with rice. Although there is a great commitment towards net zero by countries and corporates, the reality is that extreme weather events will only multiply as articulated by the IPCC report, he said. Elaborating on the opportunities for agriculture, Puri said by 2050 given the population growth and better consumption patterns, India will need 60 per cent more food. There is also a movement towards healthier and more nutritious food products that give the opportunity for value addition. Agriculture being a provider of bio-diesel which tackles climate change is another opportunity in India, he said. "India has the largest arable land in the world and there is a huge opportunity to multiply and grow our productivity levels. We are self-sufficient today and we also have the distinction of having exported Agri products worth $50 billion but I think we can do much more." On the pathways that Indian agriculture can traverse towards sustainable growth and productivity, Puri said, "There are some important pathways available to us to surmount the challenges. "One is the power of FPOs and the power of aggregation. The government of India has taken very far-sighted steps to promote FPOs with multi-dimensional schemes to support capacity building and value addition. This is the pivot that will transform Indian agriculture." Farmer producer organisations can transform agriculture: ITC Chairman Sanjiv Puri

He said as the company explores and understands a place for a particular business, it may look at it as a market for other verticals as well. Citing the example of Nepal, Puri said,"We started with other businesses and are now looking at hospitality (there). Here (in Sri Lanka) we have started with hospitality...as we explore and understand the place, we will look at possibilities in some of our other sectors as well." On overseas expansion of the hospitality business, while the company's focus is more on 'proximal markets', he said,"We are open to it if there are some interesting opportunities beyond it. We will certainly be interested in pursuing that." When asked if ITC is looking at the Middle East as a market for the hospitality business, he said it is a vibrant economy right now with terrific growth plans and "if opportunity comes our way then we will certainly explore that". Puri also said the company will look to expand in more destinations in Sri Lanka going forward. "This (opening of ITC Ratnadipa) is the starting point and yes, we want to expand and grow the economy and contribute to the development of tourism in Sri Lanka," he said. When asked about ITC's overall expansion plans in the hospitality sector, he said,"We have a very healthy pipeline of 70 hotels in five years." All these 70 hotels are for the Indian domestic market and most of them will be the upscale segments. He, however, said "(For) overseas we're just starting our journey. So we have not yet got to the stage to start putting a number right here." On investments planned for the overall expansion, he did not share a specific number but said "between renovation and new properties will spend somewhere between Rs 700 crore to Rs 1,000 crore a year". When asked about the progress of the demerger of ITC Hotels and its planned public listing, Puri said it is happening in line with the indicated timelines and is expected "before the second half of this year or the end of this year". At its new property here, the company had invested about USD 500 million. It was inaugurated on Thursday by Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe. ITC plans to open more hotels overseas: CMD Sanjiv Puri

New Delhi, Jan 27 () Ride hailing platform Ola has named former Flipkart executive Sanjiv Saddy as its senior vice president corporate affairs.
 "Sanjiv will be responsible for building deep relationships with key authorities, government agencies and other related stakeholders and in closely engaging and working with them as a business," Ola co-founder and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal said in an email to the employees. 
 "Consequently, all our regional corporate affairs and law enforcement leads will report to him," he wrote.
 An Ola spokesperson confirmed the appointment.
 Saddy has over 35 years of experience in corporate affairs and government relations, business development and finance. In his previous role, he was working with Flipkart, leading its government relations and corporate affairs mandate.

"The Board has approved a ₹200 crore-plus Campus Rejuvenation Plan to expand the campus and create state-of-the-art infrastructure," he stated in his welcome address. "The proposed construction plan is going to start shortly. A large Sustainability Plan is being discussed to become a green campus complying with the best global standards." Kumar said that as MDI celebrates its Golden Jubilee, it is now focusing on expanding to other parts of the country as well Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rajesh Chakrabarti, Director of MDI Gurgaon, said that the Institute has reached an agreement with the selected architects to add to and upgrade the campus significantly. Alluding to the 2022 placement season, Dr. Chakrabarti, in his Director's Report, said that MDI Gurgaon continued to be the institute of choice for newly minted talent. "You will be glad to know that MDI Gurgaon again achieved a 100 percent placement record," he informed the gathering. "A total of 87 organisations, including 35 new ones, recruited students from MDI Gurgaon." Dr. Chakrabarti added that the highest salary offered this time was ₹1.14 crore while the average salary recorded was ₹23.50 lakh. In his Director's Report, Dr. Atmanand, Director of MDI Murshidabad, said that his Institute is collaborating with institutions of excellence worldwide in order to conduct joint research, programmes, and conferences. Dr. Atmanand said that his Institute concluded a phenomenally spectacular final placement for the batch of 2020-22 in record time. "This year, the increase in the average package, new recruiters, and forays into newer industry segments were quite visible and remarkable," he said. "The Institute welcomed 34 new recruiters who onboarded our students in varied industry domains." The rest is influenced by factors like company’s governance policies, market capitalisation, social issues and others.
