This hiring season, Samsung R&amp;D centres will hire around 200 engineers from top IITs. They have also offered over 400 pre-placement offers to students at the IITs and other top institutions. Samsung research centres in India have filed over 7,500 patents in various areas to date. Several of these patents have been commercialised in Samsung flagship Galaxy smartphones, smartwatches, network equipment and digital applications, among others. Samsung India will hire 1,000 engineers from top institutes for R&D units

<ul><li><keyword id="10591" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Samsung" source="Orion">Samsung</keyword> will be recruiting engineers for its Bengaluru, Delhi and Noida offices.</li><li>Around 260 engineers will be coming from all IITs and the balance would be coming from other Tier-1 institutes.</li><li>Samsung had hired 1200 engineers in 2019 as well from these top colleges.</li></ul>South Korean smartphone giant Samsung is looking forward to recruit more than 1000 engineers in India from top engineering colleges like the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Birla Institute of Technology &amp; Science (BITS) Pilani, Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIIT) and many more this year for its Bengaluru, Delhi and Noida offices. Samsung is planning to hire students from multiple streams including computer science, electronics and communications, electrical engineering, mathematics and computing, instrumentation and information technology to support its efforts to build innovative solutions for India-specific challenges. “As businesses continue to expand and grow, we will be hiring 1000 plus engineers for our R&amp;D [research and development] centres from top notch engineering colleges. He said, “One-fourth (260) engineers will be coming from all IITs and the balance would be coming from other tier one schools.” When asked about the average salary package, which the company will be offering to their new employees, Wadhawan said, “We are offering a very competitive compensation [when] hiring from campuses. That is why we are able to hire more than 1000 plus engineers year after year”. Samsung had hired 1200 engineers in 2019 as well from these top colleges, but they joined the company in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The reason behind this massive hiring was its main agenda to strengthen their R&amp;D centres. “This is part of our continued growth and expansion plans in India. For us R&amp;D has been on the front. We opened our first R&amp;D centre in India in 1996 in Bengaluru, and a factory in the same year. This shows our commitment to the Indian market and India-related product and talent,” Wadhawan added. The smartphone maker company witnessed a high attrition rate in the last couple of months. “Attrition rate is slightly higher than usual and it is more to do with the simple demand and supply issue, also there are so many tech jobs available, but the situation is not alarming for us”, he said. Attrition rate, also known as churn rate is the rate at which employees leave the company and is often calculated as an annual figure. Samsung, in their third quarter results which came out in October, reported a 28% increase in their operating profit from its previous quarter. Indiabulls chairman Sameer Gehlaut and Dewan Housing Finance Corporation’s (DHFL) Dheeraj Wadhawan and Kapil Wadhawan — who are being investigated <a href="https://www.indiatoday.in/business/story/health-is-priority-yes-bank-investigation-hits-coronavirus-roadblock-1657220-2020-03-19">refused to appear before the ED citing coronavirus outbreak</a>. This is a part of an investigation into the bank’s founder Rana Kapoor, who is already in custody.

 The law enforcement agency was probing if Gehlaut paid ₹685 crore to Kapoor as a trade off for Yes Bank loan. However, Gehlaut said that he had left for the UK even before the orders to appear before ED were given. Given the current situation — the health emergency due to the pandemic — he conveyed that he will not be able to be a part of it. Wadhawan says that he is at high risk to get infected due to age and health Wadhawans, on the other hand, too managed to escape ED’s radar. It is alleged that the Yes Bank invested ₹3,700 crore in DHFL. In return, Kapil Wadhavan of DHFL gave ₹600 crore fund as loan to DoIT Urban Ventures, a company held by Kapoor’s daughters. Kapil Wadhawan has been untraceable since March 9, when CBI raided his place. And now says that he won’t appear for the investigation due to the pandemic. "In the current environment of the Coronavirus, it is a government directive to curtail travel,” he said. “Considering the COVID-19 pandemic, and with my already-compromised health and age, I am at high risk, and consequently, for my own health and safety, it is difficult for me to travel to Mumbai. I would request you to appreciate that in today's circumstances in the country, health is a priority,” Dheeraj Wadhawan <a href="https://www.businesstoday.in/current/economy-politics/yes-bank-case-dhfl-promoters-refuse-to-appear-for-questioning-cite-coronavirus/story/398518.html">said</a>. This is despite the fact that they have been summoned thrice to appear before ED. Dheeraj and Kapil Wadhawan were<a href="https://theprint.in/india/health-is-priority-dhfl-promoters-cite-coronavirus-to-avoid-facing-ed-in-yes-bank-case/382956/"> first issued summons on March 10</a> by the ED to appear on March 13. But, they did not appear — after which the summons were issued again on March 16. “They have been issued summons, but they are not cooperating and did not appear before the ED. Efforts are being made to locate them,” TOI reported citing sources. Meanwhile, Anil Ambani is likely to appear before the ED official today. In all, the ED has issued 18 summons to corporate houses so far — including the key investors in Yes Bank. New Delhi, Nov 27 () Samsung on Wednesday said it will hire around 1,200 engineering graduates this year from India's premier institutions, such as IITs, NITs and IISc, for its research and development (R&amp;D) centres in the country.
 The company plans to hire engineers for its R&amp;D centres in Bengaluru, Noida and Delhi, and these employees will work on domains such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, image processing, cloud, internet of things, recognition systems, data analysis, OnDevice AI, mobile communications, networks, and user interface and user experience.
 Samsung will hire students from multiple streams including computer science, electronics and communications, electrical engineering, mathematics and computing, instrumentation and information technology, the company said in a statement.
 "This year, we plan to hire over 1,200 engineers and have already extended 340 PPOs (pre-placement offers) to engineers at IITs and other top institutions," Samsung India Head (Human Resources) Sameer Wadhawan said.
 PPOs are made in advance and the student joins the company after the completion of his or her course.
 Samsung, which had previously announced that it will hire 2,500 engineers by 2020, has already onboarded 1,000 engineers each in 2017 and 2018.
 For this year's hiring, the South Korean electronics major is looking at hiring from Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) in Delhi, Kanpur, Mumbai, Chennai, Guwahati, Kharagpur, BHU, Roorkie, Pallakad, Tirupati, Indore, Gandhinagar, Patna, Bhubaneswar, Mandi, Jodhpur and Bhilai.
 The company will also explore tapping into talent from other top engineering colleges such as BITS Pilani, IIITs, National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Delhi Technological University, Manipal Institute of Technology and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore.

Samsung India to hire over 1,200 engineering graduates for R&D

Coca-Cola has announced a senior management reshuffle in Indian operations with Vice President Human Resources, Sameer Wadhawan given the responsibility to lead the newly created function of Franchise Capability and Business Transformation, as per a news agency. 
 
Manu Narang Wadhwa, who has joined Coca-Cola from American Express where she served for nine years, will succeed Wadhawan, the company said in a statement. 
 
In his new role, Wadhawan will work closely with Coca-Cola's 15 franchise bottling partners in India and South West Asia region to build people capability, and help transform business to become future-ready, it added. 
 
Wadhawan will take over the new responsibility starting January, 2017 and continue to report to Coca-Cola India and South West Asia President Venkatesh Kini. 
 
Commenting on the development, Kini said: "Over the last six years, Sameer has shaped the talent development and capability building agenda within the company. Sameer takes on this critical role of developing capabilities for the franchise bottling operations across the region." 
 
The company said Wadhwa has over two decades of experience in driving transformational people strategies for growth, focusing on talent management, leadership development and transformation agendas. 
Prior to American Express, she worked at GE in various roles.

<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=traffic">Burgeoning traffic</a> in and around New Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru has forced employees to find alternative ways to reach their respective offices. 
 While some of them reach quite early to avoid <keyword id="83274" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Traffic-woes">traffic woes</keyword> at <keyword id="75229" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="peak-hours">peak hours</keyword>, some prefer working from most of the times. 
 
Surprisingly, few employers have understood the problem and are coming up with innovative ways so that employees don’t have a problem. 
Few employers have relaxed work schedules and others have encouraged <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Work-from-home-like-a-pro/articleshow/47785452.cms">working from home</a> and shared transportation. 
 
Some are even taking offices closer to where their employees live so that they can worry less about the commute and focus more on work. 
Bengaluru's SAP Labs doesn't monitor entry and exit timings and employees have a free hand in deciding when to get to work and leave. 
 
As per a survey by Ford in India, 97% of the respondents were stressed out about bumper-to-bumper traffic, a fear of accidents and in some cases, even parking hassles. Almost half the drivers on <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=indian+roads">Indian roads</a> - more than in any other country covered in the Ford survey - spent about 12 hours every week, or about 100 minutes every day, in their cars. 
 
Also, few local units of Coca-Cola and Sapient have introduced flexi work hours that help employees avoid rush-hour traffic. 
 
"We start 30 minutes early at 8:30 am and close by 5:15 pm in order to beat the peak traffic hours," said Sameer Wadhawan, vice president for human resources &amp; services at Coca-Cola. 
 
"Traffic in Gurgaon is a big challenge," said Bacardi managing director Vijay Subramaniam. "We have had to resort to means such as three work timing slots in a day, encouraging working from home and car pooling to drive around this issue... We encourage members to use the metro, too." 
 
Talking about Gurgaon, even authorities are taking steps to ease traffic congestion. 
 
"We are asking all our employees to make maximum use of the increased public transport facility on car-free Tuesdays. The reduction in the number of cars will also help reduce pollution," said Sanjay Rishi, president of AmEx South Asia, which has offices on Golf Course Road and Cyber City. 
 
In other parts of the country, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=infosys">Infosys</a> is promoting options such as buses, cabs and cycles for its more than 1.79 lakh employees. In Pune, Infosys has launched a campaign, "Ab Bus Karo," to encourage employees to take company buses to its development centre. 
 SAP allows employees to <keyword id="123591" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Work-from-home">work from home</keyword> once a week, a frequency that can be increased by their reporting managers. 
 KPMG India has a smooth working policy, which allows people to "<keyword id="455874" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="work-from-anywhere">work from anywhere</keyword>" - be it a client location or home, provided that the role can be executed virtually and that productivity, performance and timelines are not hampered.
