New Delhi: After two <keyword id="19945688" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="acquisitions" source="keywords">acquisitions</keyword> this year, India's second-largest IT services company <keyword id="19906778" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="Infosys" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Infosys" meta.hostid="268" meta.entityid="Infosys">Infosys</keyword> is on the lookout to scoop-up more firms and says the acquisition matching scale of recent in-tech buy is certainly a possibility. In an interview to PTI, <keyword id="24144" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="infosys-ceo" source="Orion">Infosys CEO</keyword> <keyword id="20115570" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="salil-parekh" source="keywords">Salil Parekh</keyword> said the company is keen on acquisitions in areas like data analytics, SAAS, and may look at some geographies within Europe, and the US. Asked if more acquisitions could be of the scale matching in-tech, which came with a price-tag of 450 million euros, <keyword id="20039787" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="parekh" source="keywords">Parekh</keyword> said, "Absolutely, I think those would be the size that we will look at in terms of scale, and given our structure we could do a few of those." Back in January, Infosys announced a definitive agreement to acquire 100 per cent of the equity share capital in InSemi Technology Services, a semiconductor design services company headquartered in India, for a consideration (including earn-outs, and management incentives and retention bonuses) totalling up to Rs 280 crore. A bigger acquisition followed in three months. In April, Infosys Germany, a wholly-owned step-down subsidiary, entered into a definitive agreement to acquire 100 per cent of the equity share capital in in-tech Holding -- leading provider of engineering R&amp;D services headquartered in Germany -- for a consideration of up to 450 million euros (about Rs 4,045 crore). "We have very good business in engineering services already within Infosys and then we did those two acquisitions, both of them in engineering services, one on semiconductor side and one on the automotive side... very strong businesses, and we feel quite good about expanding that footprint," Parekh said. Infosys is eyeing more acquisitions, he said, adding that the company is evaluating several firms. "We have a good balance sheet and good cash generation and now we are quite comfortable with the integration of acquisition in different areas. We have done engineering services, we will look at other areas... for example data analytics... may look at SAAS (software as a service) areas, and maybe at some other geographies in Europe, maybe the US as well," he said. Parekh, however, said a lot depends on strategic synergies, financial cost, cultural fit and integration aspects. "We are continuing to look, and we have things that are normally in the pipeline but those take their own time... there are a lot of discussions on strategic fit, on financial cost of it and cultural fit into the company and then how will we integrate them. Many of those discussions are ongoing and we will see what comes out," the Infosys top honcho said. On whether he is hopeful of closing more acquisitions this fiscal year, Parekh indicated that it is tough to put a timeline on the outcome of ongoing discussions. "It is difficult to say... we are evaluating several (of them). But to get a fit on the strategic parameters, financial parameters, culture, integration... all of it may not work out. But these two (InSemi and in-tech) happened relatively quickly... before that for some quarters we had not done anything. It is not a predictable thing, but the evaluation is ongoing," he said. According to the Grant Thornton Bharat Dealtracker Q2 2024 report, Indian dealmaking saw overall 501 deals, valued at USD 21.4 billion. The report said the second quarter of 2024 witnessed the highest quarterly volumes since the second quarter of 2022, while values declined due to the absence of big-ticket merger and acquisition transactions. Grant Thornton Bharat Dealtracker further said the merger and acquisition (M&amp;A) activity during the second quarter saw 132 deals worth USD 6.2 billion, marking a slight increase in volumes but a substantial 50 per cent drop in values. As per the report, domestic deals drove growth with volumes rising 29 per cent and values increasing 2.5 times compared to the first quarter of the current year. In contrast, cross-border deals experienced a decline, with volumes decreasing 24 per cent and values plummeting 85 per cent from the first quarter of 2024.

Infosys sent emails to these graduates on Monday, confirming that they would start their employment on October 7, 2024. <h2>Infosys sends joining date confirmation to freshers</h2>Thousands of students from the April 2022 batch were left in limbo after participating in two rounds of pre-training in July and August. These students received an offer letter from Infosys two years back, but never got a confirmation about their joining date. Now, as per a report in ET, Infosys has finally given them a date of joining. The report reveals that students got an email from the company's recruiters that says, “Your scheduled date of joining the employment of the Company will be October 07,2024. These young engineers, who have been waiting for nearly two years, now have a confirmed joining date of October 7, 2024. This is a huge win for NITES and all the students who stood strong in the face of uncertainty and delay,” he said and added that they won't hesitate to protest in front of the company's offices if there is a breach in joining date. "We remain vigilant... if Infosys fails to honor this commitment and breaches the joining date, we will not hesitate to organize a protest right in front of the Infosys office," he said. The delay in onboarding has affected around 2,000 engineering graduates from the 2022 batch, who received offer letters for system engineer and digital system engineer roles, with annual packages ranging from Rs 3.2-3.7 lakh. Everyone will join, there is no change: Infosys CEO after delaying joining of 2,000 freshers for over two years

While it did beat street expectations of around 1% growth, the Bengaluru-based tech major also slashed the upper end of its constant currency revenue guidance for FY24. The company has also announced wage hikes which will be rolled out from November 1, 2023. The company’s dollar revenues sequentially grew 2.2% to $4,718 million in Q2 as compared to $4,617 million in Q1. It had earlier guided that its constant currency (CC) revenues for FY24 will grow at 1-3.5%. Half way through the fiscal year, it believes that it can grow anywhere between 1-2.5%. It has however retained its operating margin guidance 20-22% for the year. The net profit grew by 4.5% sequentially to ₹6,212 crore in Q2 from ₹5,945 crore in the last quarter. Overall results are not so bad but discounted in prices. FY24 guidance - revised downwards would put pressure on prices to sustain while it has maintained margins." He added that technically the last minute fall in prices shows that results were not in favour of bulls and hence a gap down opening between ₹1,400-1,420 could be seen in the opening trade. Large deal wins The company is also sitting on a robust orderbook of large deals. Its large orders’ total contract value (TCV) of large deals at $7.7 billion. “We had our highest large deals value at $7.7 billion in Q2 spread across all verticals and geographies. This, in an uncertain macro-environment, is a testament to our ability to pivot and stay relevant to the evolving client needs, by delivering the benefits of transformation as well as productivity and cost savings at scale”, said <keyword id="328377" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="salil-parekh" source="Orion">Salil Parekh</keyword>, CEO and MD. Like its peer TCS, Infosys also reported a drop in attrition to 14.6%. “Strong H1 performance with significant large deal wins, builds a solid foundation for the future. Infosys Q2 US dollar revenue up 2.2%; cuts upper end of guidance for FY24

The tech earnings season began with large IT companies -- Tata Consultancy Services (<keyword id="6357150" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="tcs" source="Orion">TCS</keyword>), <keyword id="6354512" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="infosys" source="Orion">Infosys</keyword>, <keyword id="10862" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="wipro" source="Orion">Wipro</keyword> and HCL Technologies -- declaring their Q3 report card this week, amid analysts' gloomy prognosis around slowdown in advanced economies and fear of geopolitical flare-ups. The industry leaders said they are keeping a close watch on the global economy and cues. Overall, the revenue growth band of the top-tier IT players was pegged at between 14-20 per cent for Q3FY23, compared to the year ago period. Seen sequentially, the topline growth for the large IT pack ranged between three per cent and eight per cent versus previous September quarter. Meanwhile, December-quarter net profit of the top IT deck rose between three per cent (Wipro) to 19 per cent (<keyword id="141968" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="hcl-tech" source="Orion">HCL Tech</keyword>) year-on-year; and about 4 per cent (TCS) to 17 per cent (HCL Tech) when computed on a sequential basis. TCS' overall revenue rose 19.1 per cent to Rs 58,229 crore for the reporting quarter. The chief executive and managing director of India's largest IT services company <keyword id="1422411" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="rajesh-gopinathan" source="Orion">Rajesh Gopinathan</keyword> said the firm is more confident about the North American and British operations, which account for two-thirds of its revenues, but there are short-term uncertainties, and it is Europe, which needs closer monitoring as geopolitical tensions restrict clients from making IT spends. TCS management talked of "slow" decision making in Europe, and said it is "fairly constructive" when it comes to markets like the US, although it is keeping a close watch on how things play out over next couple of quarters. The conversations with customers are much more balanced ones, "where they are equally positive as well as cautious" yielding opportunities of "a mix of both cost and transformation deals". Chief operating officer N <keyword id="1564843" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="ganapathy-subramaniam" source="Orion">Ganapathy Subramaniam</keyword> said the deal momentum and pipeline are looking good, and the overall situation on technology spending seems to be intact even in this environment. Infosys posted a 20.2 per cent year-on-year increase in consolidated revenue for December quarter at Rs 38,318 crore, and surprised many by hiking full year revenue guidance to 16-16.5 per cent. Infosys' consolidated net profit rose to Rs 6,586 crore during October-December 2022 as against Rs 5,809 crore a year back, translating into 13.4 per cent increase. Sequentially, the net profit was 9.4 per cent higher than September quarter. The company raised its annual sales forecast on a strong deal pipeline, but in the same breath, it warned of "constraints" in certain verticals amid slowing global economy. Infosys called out mortgage, investment banking, telecom and hi-tech, saying these segments were "more impacted, leading to delays in decision making and uncertainty in spending." The company was, however, quick to add that sectors like energy, utilities and manufacturing continue to see traction. Moreover, the concerns are more pronounced in Europe than the US, the Bengaluru-based IT bellwether said. "We see in the European markets, more concerns on what's going on with the economy... and the US market is also there, but relatively less so in the US with respect to Europe. We will see how this plays out," Infosys CEO <keyword id="328377" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="salil-parekh" source="Orion">Salil Parekh</keyword> said during the Q3 results conference. Smaller rival Wipro has talked of potential slowdown in retail sector in its earnings' roundup. The management's talking points also touched upon "bit of a lag for conversion of bookings" and "certain level of volatility from customers in particular sectors regarding discretionary spendings." Wipro Ltd on Friday reported a better-than-expected 2.8 per cent rise in consolidated net profit for the December 2022 quarter to Rs 3,053 crore and exuded optimism about "strong" bookings for the fourth quarter despite global headwinds. The company's Q4 guidance, however, came below analysts' expectations. Wipro said its IT services revenue is expected to grow in the range of -0.6 per cent to 1 per cent sequentially in constant currency in the quarter ending March 2023. Wipro expects revenue from the IT services business for the full year to be in the range of 11.5-12 per cent in constant currency terms. The revenues of Wipro stood at Rs 23,229 crore in Q3FY23, 14.3 per cent higher than the same period previous year. Noida-headquartered HCL Tech posted a 19 per cent increase in the consolidated net income to Rs 4,096 crore for just-ended third quarter. Its consolidated revenue grew by 19.56 per cent to Rs 26,700 crore during the reported quarter, from Rs 22,331 crore in the December 2021 quarter. HCL Tech narrowed current fiscal growth guidance in the range of 13.5-14 per cent for the overall revenue in constant currency terms and margin to 18-18.5 per cent. "Looking ahead, we believe there is a near term impact to a few industries, specifically technology industry clients, as they optimise while they will end up as great growth opportunities in medium term with the right propositions," C Vijayakumar, CEO of HCL Tech, said. He added: "Looking ahead we remain positive of our medium term growth, a confidence generated by our good booking and pipeline across every segment." Infosys too cracks whip but mulling policy to allow moonlighting

New Delhi, The <keyword id="156153" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ministry-of-Finance" source="Orion">Ministry of Finance</keyword> has <keyword id="6379081" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="summoned" source="Orion">summoned</keyword> Infosys MD and CEO, <keyword id="328377" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Salil-Parekh" source="Orion">Salil Parekh</keyword> on Monday over continuing glitches in the new income <keyword id="11921177" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tax-e-filing-portal" source="Orion">tax e-filing portal</keyword>. In a tweet, the <keyword id="65338" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Income-Tax-Department" source="Orion">Income Tax Department</keyword> also said that the portal is not available since Saturday, August 21. Parekh has been summoned to explain to the Finance Minister the reason for the persistent glitches in the portal. "Ministry of Finance has summoned Sh Salil Parekh, MD &amp; CEO @Infosys on 23/08/2021 to explain to hon'ble FM as to why even after 2.5 months since launch of new e-filing portal, glitches in the portal have not been resolved. In fact, since 21/08/2021 the portal itself is not available," the department said. The new income tax e-filing portal developed by Infosys was launched on June 7 in a bid to ease the tax filing process and expedite the refund issue. However, taxpayers have been facing several problems in using the portal since its inception. In July, the Union Finance Ministry asked the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) to constitute a seven-member task force to look into the technical issues facing the new Income Tax e-filing portal developed by Infosys. In line with the directive, the ICAI constituted a team to analyse the issues. During the recent Monsoon Session of Parliament, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha that Infosys has been paid a total of Rs 164.5 crore under the project. He had said the government launched the new income tax e-filing portal as part of the Integrated E-filing and Centralised Processing Centre 2.0 Project.
