New Delhi: After two <keyword id="19945688" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="acquisitions" source="keywords">acquisitions</keyword> this year, India's second-largest IT services company <keyword id="19906778" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="Infosys" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Infosys" meta.hostid="268" meta.entityid="Infosys">Infosys</keyword> is on the lookout to scoop-up more firms and says the acquisition matching scale of recent in-tech buy is certainly a possibility. In an interview to PTI, <keyword id="24144" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="infosys-ceo" source="Orion">Infosys CEO</keyword> <keyword id="20115570" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="salil-parekh" source="keywords">Salil Parekh</keyword> said the company is keen on acquisitions in areas like data analytics, SAAS, and may look at some geographies within Europe, and the US. Asked if more acquisitions could be of the scale matching in-tech, which came with a price-tag of 450 million euros, <keyword id="20039787" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="parekh" source="keywords">Parekh</keyword> said, "Absolutely, I think those would be the size that we will look at in terms of scale, and given our structure we could do a few of those." Back in January, Infosys announced a definitive agreement to acquire 100 per cent of the equity share capital in InSemi Technology Services, a semiconductor design services company headquartered in India, for a consideration (including earn-outs, and management incentives and retention bonuses) totalling up to Rs 280 crore. A bigger acquisition followed in three months. In April, Infosys Germany, a wholly-owned step-down subsidiary, entered into a definitive agreement to acquire 100 per cent of the equity share capital in in-tech Holding -- leading provider of engineering R&amp;D services headquartered in Germany -- for a consideration of up to 450 million euros (about Rs 4,045 crore). "We have very good business in engineering services already within Infosys and then we did those two acquisitions, both of them in engineering services, one on semiconductor side and one on the automotive side... very strong businesses, and we feel quite good about expanding that footprint," Parekh said. Infosys is eyeing more acquisitions, he said, adding that the company is evaluating several firms. "We have a good balance sheet and good cash generation and now we are quite comfortable with the integration of acquisition in different areas. We have done engineering services, we will look at other areas... for example data analytics... may look at SAAS (software as a service) areas, and maybe at some other geographies in Europe, maybe the US as well," he said. Parekh, however, said a lot depends on strategic synergies, financial cost, cultural fit and integration aspects. "We are continuing to look, and we have things that are normally in the pipeline but those take their own time... there are a lot of discussions on strategic fit, on financial cost of it and cultural fit into the company and then how will we integrate them. Many of those discussions are ongoing and we will see what comes out," the Infosys top honcho said. On whether he is hopeful of closing more acquisitions this fiscal year, Parekh indicated that it is tough to put a timeline on the outcome of ongoing discussions. "It is difficult to say... we are evaluating several (of them). But to get a fit on the strategic parameters, financial parameters, culture, integration... all of it may not work out. But these two (InSemi and in-tech) happened relatively quickly... before that for some quarters we had not done anything. It is not a predictable thing, but the evaluation is ongoing," he said. According to the Grant Thornton Bharat Dealtracker Q2 2024 report, Indian dealmaking saw overall 501 deals, valued at USD 21.4 billion. The report said the second quarter of 2024 witnessed the highest quarterly volumes since the second quarter of 2022, while values declined due to the absence of big-ticket merger and acquisition transactions. Grant Thornton Bharat Dealtracker further said the merger and acquisition (M&amp;A) activity during the second quarter saw 132 deals worth USD 6.2 billion, marking a slight increase in volumes but a substantial 50 per cent drop in values. As per the report, domestic deals drove growth with volumes rising 29 per cent and values increasing 2.5 times compared to the first quarter of the current year. In contrast, cross-border deals experienced a decline, with volumes decreasing 24 per cent and values plummeting 85 per cent from the first quarter of 2024.

Now, Infosys is making headlines again but this time, for the right reasons. The company has reportedly sent a confirmation regarding joining date to over 1,000 engineering graduates. Infosys sent emails to these graduates on Monday, confirming that they would start their employment on October 7, 2024. <h2>Infosys sends joining date confirmation to freshers</h2>Thousands of students from the April 2022 batch were left in limbo after participating in two rounds of pre-training in July and August. These students received an offer letter from Infosys two years back, but never got a confirmation about their joining date. Now, as per a report in ET, Infosys has finally given them a date of joining. The report reveals that students got an email from the company's recruiters that says, “Your scheduled date of joining the employment of the Company will be October 07,2024. These young engineers, who have been waiting for nearly two years, now have a confirmed joining date of October 7, 2024. This is a huge win for NITES and all the students who stood strong in the face of uncertainty and delay,” he said and added that they won't hesitate to protest in front of the company's offices if there is a breach in joining date. "We remain vigilant... if Infosys fails to honor this commitment and breaches the joining date, we will not hesitate to organize a protest right in front of the Infosys office," he said. The delay in onboarding has affected around 2,000 engineering graduates from the 2022 batch, who received offer letters for system engineer and digital system engineer roles, with annual packages ranging from Rs 3.2-3.7 lakh. Many of these students have faced prolonged joblessness and anxiety as they waited for their joining dates. <h2>Infosys CEO reassures students</h2>Meanwhile, Infosys CEO <keyword id="20115570" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Salil-Parekh" source="keywords">Salil Parekh</keyword> recently reassured graduates that the company would honor all job offers, despite delays in the onboarding process. Parekh had confirmed that while some joining dates had been adjusted, every candidate who received an offer would still become a part of Infosys. We have adjusted some dates, but beyond that, there is no change in our approach." Infosys CEO Salil Parekh joins USISPF Board

<ul><li>IT major reports 2.3% sequential growth in its constant currency revenues.</li><li>Company’s net profit has grown by 4.5% sequentially to ₹6,212 crore.</li><li><keyword id="6354512" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="infosys" source="Orion">Infosys</keyword> reports highest large orders’ total contract value at $7.7 billion.</li></ul> IT major Infosys reported a 2.3% sequential growth in its constant currency revenues for the second quarter on Thursday. While it did beat street expectations of around 1% growth, the Bengaluru-based tech major also slashed the upper end of its constant currency revenue guidance for FY24. The company has also announced wage hikes which will be rolled out from November 1, 2023. The company’s dollar revenues sequentially grew 2.2% to $4,718 million in Q2 as compared to $4,617 million in Q1. It had earlier guided that its constant currency (CC) revenues for FY24 will grow at 1-3.5%. Half way through the fiscal year, it believes that it can grow anywhere between 1-2.5%. It has however retained its operating margin guidance 20-22% for the year. The net profit grew by 4.5% sequentially to ₹6,212 crore in Q2 from ₹5,945 crore in the last quarter. Overall results are not so bad but discounted in prices. FY24 guidance - revised downwards would put pressure on prices to sustain while it has maintained margins." He added that technically the last minute fall in prices shows that results were not in favour of bulls and hence a gap down opening between ₹1,400-1,420 could be seen in the opening trade. Large deal wins The company is also sitting on a robust orderbook of large deals. Its large orders’ total contract value (TCV) of large deals at $7.7 billion. “We had our highest large deals value at $7.7 billion in Q2 spread across all verticals and geographies. This, in an uncertain macro-environment, is a testament to our ability to pivot and stay relevant to the evolving client needs, by delivering the benefits of transformation as well as productivity and cost savings at scale”, said <keyword id="328377" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="salil-parekh" source="Orion">Salil Parekh</keyword>, CEO and MD. Like its peer TCS, Infosys also reported a drop in attrition to 14.6%. “Strong H1 performance with significant large deal wins, builds a solid foundation for the future. Infosys Q2 US dollar revenue up 2.2%; cuts upper end of guidance for FY24

IT services company <keyword id="6354512" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="infosys" source="Orion">Infosys</keyword> on Thursday announced a three-year partnership with <keyword id="24244" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="rafael-nadal" source="Orion">Rafael Nadal</keyword>, onboarding the global tennis star as ambassador for the brand and Infosys' Digital Innovation. To mark Nadal's first-ever collaboration with a digital services company, Infosys and Nadal's coaching team are developing an AI-powered match analysis tool, the Bengaluru-headquartered company said in a release. Infosys ropes in tennis icon Rafael Nadal as brand ambassador

New Delhi, India's IT services heavyweights delivered between 14-20 per cent on-year growth in topline for December quarter, as they raised guard on global uncertainties and choppy verticals, but remained hopeful that costs as well as business considerations will drive tech demand. The tech earnings season began with large IT companies -- Tata Consultancy Services (<keyword id="6357150" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="tcs" source="Orion">TCS</keyword>), <keyword id="6354512" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="infosys" source="Orion">Infosys</keyword>, <keyword id="10862" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="wipro" source="Orion">Wipro</keyword> and HCL Technologies -- declaring their Q3 report card this week, amid analysts' gloomy prognosis around slowdown in advanced economies and fear of geopolitical flare-ups. The industry leaders said they are keeping a close watch on the global economy and cues. Overall, the revenue growth band of the top-tier IT players was pegged at between 14-20 per cent for Q3FY23, compared to the year ago period. Seen sequentially, the topline growth for the large IT pack ranged between three per cent and eight per cent versus previous September quarter. Meanwhile, December-quarter net profit of the top IT deck rose between three per cent (Wipro) to 19 per cent (<keyword id="141968" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="hcl-tech" source="Orion">HCL Tech</keyword>) year-on-year; and about 4 per cent (TCS) to 17 per cent (HCL Tech) when computed on a sequential basis. TCS' overall revenue rose 19.1 per cent to Rs 58,229 crore for the reporting quarter. The chief executive and managing director of India's largest IT services company <keyword id="1422411" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="rajesh-gopinathan" source="Orion">Rajesh Gopinathan</keyword> said the firm is more confident about the North American and British operations, which account for two-thirds of its revenues, but there are short-term uncertainties, and it is Europe, which needs closer monitoring as geopolitical tensions restrict clients from making IT spends. TCS management talked of "slow" decision making in Europe, and said it is "fairly constructive" when it comes to markets like the US, although it is keeping a close watch on how things play out over next couple of quarters. The conversations with customers are much more balanced ones, "where they are equally positive as well as cautious" yielding opportunities of "a mix of both cost and transformation deals". Chief operating officer N <keyword id="1564843" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="ganapathy-subramaniam" source="Orion">Ganapathy Subramaniam</keyword> said the deal momentum and pipeline are looking good, and the overall situation on technology spending seems to be intact even in this environment. Infosys posted a 20.2 per cent year-on-year increase in consolidated revenue for December quarter at Rs 38,318 crore, and surprised many by hiking full year revenue guidance to 16-16.5 per cent. Infosys' consolidated net profit rose to Rs 6,586 crore during October-December 2022 as against Rs 5,809 crore a year back, translating into 13.4 per cent increase. Sequentially, the net profit was 9.4 per cent higher than September quarter. The company raised its annual sales forecast on a strong deal pipeline, but in the same breath, it warned of "constraints" in certain verticals amid slowing global economy. Infosys called out mortgage, investment banking, telecom and hi-tech, saying these segments were "more impacted, leading to delays in decision making and uncertainty in spending." The company was, however, quick to add that sectors like energy, utilities and manufacturing continue to see traction. Moreover, the concerns are more pronounced in Europe than the US, the Bengaluru-based IT bellwether said. "We see in the European markets, more concerns on what's going on with the economy... and the US market is also there, but relatively less so in the US with respect to Europe. We will see how this plays out," Infosys CEO <keyword id="328377" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="salil-parekh" source="Orion">Salil Parekh</keyword> said during the Q3 results conference. Smaller rival Wipro has talked of potential slowdown in retail sector in its earnings' roundup. The management's talking points also touched upon "bit of a lag for conversion of bookings" and "certain level of volatility from customers in particular sectors regarding discretionary spendings." Wipro Ltd on Friday reported a better-than-expected 2.8 per cent rise in consolidated net profit for the December 2022 quarter to Rs 3,053 crore and exuded optimism about "strong" bookings for the fourth quarter despite global headwinds. The company's Q4 guidance, however, came below analysts' expectations. Wipro said its IT services revenue is expected to grow in the range of -0.6 per cent to 1 per cent sequentially in constant currency in the quarter ending March 2023. Wipro expects revenue from the IT services business for the full year to be in the range of 11.5-12 per cent in constant currency terms. The revenues of Wipro stood at Rs 23,229 crore in Q3FY23, 14.3 per cent higher than the same period previous year. Noida-headquartered HCL Tech posted a 19 per cent increase in the consolidated net income to Rs 4,096 crore for just-ended third quarter. Its consolidated revenue grew by 19.56 per cent to Rs 26,700 crore during the reported quarter, from Rs 22,331 crore in the December 2021 quarter. HCL Tech narrowed current fiscal growth guidance in the range of 13.5-14 per cent for the overall revenue in constant currency terms and margin to 18-18.5 per cent. "Looking ahead, we believe there is a near term impact to a few industries, specifically technology industry clients, as they optimise while they will end up as great growth opportunities in medium term with the right propositions," C Vijayakumar, CEO of HCL Tech, said. He added: "Looking ahead we remain positive of our medium term growth, a confidence generated by our good booking and pipeline across every segment." <ul><li>Infosys’ attrition rate increased to 25.5% in the December quarter of 2021.</li><li>It now plans to hire additional 10,000 employees to make up for this increased attrition rate.</li><li>Roy further added that the company already has a pipeline of potential candidates</li></ul>IT giant Infosys plans to increase its hiring plan to over 55,000 individuals by March 2022 as the attrition rate in the company has crossed 25% compared to 20.1% three months earlier. In comparison, the attrition rate at Wipro was <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/careers/news/wipro-plans-to-hire-30000-freshers-in-2023-as-attrition-rate-increases-to-22/articleshow/88855676.cms">22.7% in the three months</a> ending December. Attrition is used to describe the rate at which employees are leaving the company. “We continue to prioritize investments in talent acquisition and development and have further increased our global graduate hiring program to over 55,000 for FY22 to support our growth ambitions," Nilanjan Roy, chief financial officer at Infosys said. These included higher rewards and compensation, upskilling and reskilling opportunities, and talent retention programmes. “We are also looking at differentiated talent this year when our campus hires digital specialists, who are different skill sets coming into the company. Certainly across reskilling, which continues to be a core to our fundamental business model and how we digitally scale employees, give them incentives to get reskilling in new technologies,” Roy added, explaining how they plan to increase their retention rate. He said that not ‘even God’ can change its numbers, in an analyst call. "Infosys has strong processes, even God can’t change the numbers of this company. Our finance team is feeling insulting by these allegations. During the meeting, Nilekani also said that the company’s clients aren’t going to hold back spending just because of an ongoing investigation. He assured analysts that he had already reached out to clients and proactively told them that there was nothing to worry about. "Customers are extremely supportive. Customers have faith in Infosys and deal flow continues to be as good ever," said Nilekani. On November 4, Infosys and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) inked a multi-year deal. The tech giant said that it’s going to help SGRE’s digital transformation but the financial details of the deal were not disclosed. On Monday, Infosys reported that it has not been able to find any ‘prima facie’ evidence to support the whistleblower’s allegations. "Given the circumstances at this stage, where there is complete absence of prima facie evidence and the Anonymous Complaints are still under investigation, the Company is not in a position to determine the concreteness, credibility and materiality of the anonymous complaints," the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/business/news/infosys-clear-ceo-and-cfo-of-whistleblower-allegations/articleshow/71935085.cms">company said in a statement</a> to the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Monday. Infosys is currently being investigated by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). Infosys untouchable, ‘not even God’ will find evidence of fraud

<ul><li>The Indian government has extended the <keyword id="2450498" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="income-tax-filing" source="Orion">income tax filing</keyword> returns by three months from September 30 to December 31.</li><li>The deadline has been extended because of technical glitches on the new <keyword id="6354751" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="income-tax" source="Orion">income tax</keyword> portal managed by <keyword id="6354512" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="infosys" source="Orion">Infosys</keyword>.</li><li>The new income tax e-filing portal was unveiled in June and has been facing continuous technical difficulties ever since.</li></ul>Deadline to file income <keyword id="382766" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tax-returns" source="Orion">tax returns</keyword> (ITR) for assessment year 2021-22 has been extended by three months to December 31, 2021 from September 30, 2021, as per a press release by Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT). The government has extended the deadline because of continuous technical glitches reported on the new income tax portal handled by Infosys. This is the second time in this fiscal that the government has extended the deadline for filing ITR. Earlier, due to the second wave of the pandemic, the ITR filing deadline was extended by two months from July 31 to September 30. Apparently, Infosys has been receiving a certain <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/india/news/income-tax-e-filing-portal-social-media-users-call-out-infosys-after-finance-ministry-summons-infosys-ceo-salil-parekh/articleshow/85556875.cms">backlash </a>for being unable to resolve the issues. Taxpayers have been complaining on social media about glitches with the new income tax e-filing portal for several weeks now. Due to the continuous technical difficulties, the Ministry of Finance had also summoned Infosys’ chief executive officer <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/india/news/finance-ministry-summons-infosys-ceo-over-glitches-in-it-e-filing-portal/articleshow/85533986.cms">Salil Parekh </a>to explain why these issues have not been resolved yet. The Income Tax department had unveiled the new income tax e-filing portal in June this year as it sought to provide a “modern, seamless experience” to taxpayers.
