The decision to pay full salary and incentive to employees of the medical and health department and police personnel was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister K. <keyword id="199243" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Chandrashekhar-Rao">Chandrashekhar Rao</keyword> late Wednesday night. The Chief Minister will announce the incentive in a day or two. The government has already announced salary cut for all its employees in the wake of the crisis triggered by spread of COVID-19 and resultant lockdown. The cut has been imposed according to grade and service cadres. Telangana will pay police in full with extra cash incentives even as civil servants pay is slashed

Mumbai, Mar 25 () Flag carrier Air India is expected to incur losses to the tune of Rs 30-35 crore per day following the suspension of operations in the wake of coronavirus pandemic, according to a source. With stringent border controls across the countries to restrict movement of people, many countries have barred international flights in their territory amid COVID-19. India has also announced a temporary ban on flying. "We will not be operating a single commercial flight along with other domestic carriers as per the government's order, yet our daily losses will still be in the range of Rs 30-35 crore. "Though there will not be ceratin costs such as fuel, ground handling, airport fee during the suspension of oprations, we still will have to make payments towards salaries and allowances, lease rentals, mimimum maintenance, besides the interest payment, among others," the source told . Air India's total earnings per day are around Rs 60-65 crore and 90 per cent of this comes from passenger revenue, he said adding, "the expenses too are in the same range. So we are earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) positive or in a way meeting our all expenses." Air India's salary bill stands at around Rs 250 crore per month while the aircraft lease rentals outgo is around USD 30 million per month as per the source. The airline has 21 Boeing B787-800s on lease in addition to 27 Airbus A320Neo planes. The lease rental for each Boeing 787 is USD 1 million per months and USD 400 per month for an A20Neo, as per the source. COVID-19: Air India to incur Rs 30-35 cr loss per day following suspension of operations

Mumbai, Apr 3 () State-owned Air India's pilot unions on Friday opposed the 10 per cent cut in employees' allowances, terming the decision as "unequal" and that goes against the spirit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal to the companies to ensure that the salaries of the employees are not slashed amid the coronavirus pandemic. In a joint letter to Air India chief Rajiv Bansal on Friday, the Indian Pilots Guild (IPG) and Indian Commercial Pilots Association (ICPA) said the reduction in allowance was against the labour and employment ministry's advisory to all employers of public or private establishments not to terminate their employees or reduce their wages. "We, the flying crew of Air India feel, immensely let down by the self-serving approach of the Executive Management Committee in the name of cost cutting measures. The committee has completely disregarded the appeal made by the prime minister and the advisory from the labour and employment ministry," the pilot unions said. Two days after Modi's appeal during his televised address to the nation on imposition of a 21-day lockdown to curb spread of the coranvirus infection, to companies not to cut employees salaries (due to the lockdown), Air India decided to reduce 10 per cent of allowances paid to all employees, except cabin crew, for a period of three months to tide over the economic fallout of COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus. The reduction, however, did not impact the basic pay, house rent allowance and variable dearness allowance. On March 18, the airline had decided to withdraw special allowance to pilots while revising downward the layover allowance for cabin crew. Significantly, flying allowance accounts for as much as 70 per cent in a pilots' salaries. "By effecting a 10 per cent cut in allowances for all employees, the category that has been affected the most are pilots. Flying-related allowances of pilots' wages allowances constitute to 70 per cent of the gross emoluments. "By affecting a cut only on allowances, the directors and senior management executives have deviously exempted themselves from any meaningful austerity cut as their allowances are extremely small while pilots and cabin crew who are the frontline warriors flying and risking their lives, are forced to bear the maximum cut," the unions said in the letter. It also said that the fact remains that the core of an airline is the airplanes and the staff who keep them flying and that every other department exists to support them in this endeavour. "As you are aware, the flying allowance is not paid on-time. While all the other employees are paid in full, flying crew alone are made to bear the brunt with delayed flying allowance. Implementation of sham austerity measures to cut the flying allowances on top of all this would be adding insult to injury," it said. Reminding the management that "many flying crew" are held at "home quarantine/self-quarantine" after operating international and special flights, the unions said "one of our crew has been diagnosed COVID-19 positive and is hospitalised". The pilot unions, in the letter, also questioned the airline's decision to enter into a contract with other countries to repatriate their citizens on commercial charters which does not come under the purview of the Essential Services Maintenance Act. "We are hopeful you will treat all your employees equally. The pay cut on allowance is unequal, and not acceptable to us. We request you to advise the senior executive management to rise above self during these testing times, to draw up fair cost cutting measures and not to manipulate the system to safeguard their salaries by merely burdening the frontline soldiers of the national carrier," the letter stated. Air India pilot unions oppose 10 pc cut in employees' allowances

 It has invited applications from interested candidates for the post. The tenure of the current <keyword id="35210" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="sebi">Sebi</keyword> chief U K Sinha will be coming to an end in February,2016. According to market rumours, the names doing the rounds are of <keyword id="1067935" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Rajeev-Kumar-Agarwal">Rajeev Kumar Agarwal</keyword>, whole-time member of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/RILs-Appeal-Against-Sebi-Dismissed/articleshow/37564470.cms" target="_blank">Sebi</a> and two other senior bureaucrats who are in the race for the post. 
 The advertisement put out by the <keyword id="47209" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Finance-Ministry">finance ministry</keyword> on August 24 said the chairman would hold office for a five year period or till he reaches 65 years of age,whichever is earlier.He would also be eligible for re-appointment. 

	The appointment would be made based on the recommendation of a search-cum-selection committee,headed by the cabinet secretary. 
 

	"It may however be noted that the search-cum-selection committee is free to identify and recommend any other person also,on the basis of merits who has not applied for the post," the advertisement post on the finance ministry website said. 
 

	The <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/SEBI-Withdraws-Recognition-To-Delhi-Stock-Exchange/articleshow/45215496.cms">Sebi chairman</a> would have an option to receive either a fixed pay of Rs 80,000 as admissible to a secretary to government of India or a consolidated salary of Rs 450,000 per month.

Formal search for new SEBI chairman initiated by government

Mumbai, Apr 1 () Mercedes-Benz India announced on Wednesday it will set up in association with local authorities a temporary hospital with 1,500-bed isolation wards for coronavirua patients in Chakan in Pune.Besides, its employees will voluntarily contribute one day's salary, the amount of which will be matched by the company towards contribution to the Maharashtra Chief Minister's Relief Fund for COVID-19 pandemic, the company said in a release.Mercedes-Benz India has both its manufacturing facility and corporate office situated in Chakan industrial belt in Pune. "In the wake of the ongoing global health crisis caused by the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, Mercedes-Benz India has decided to set up a temporary hospital with medical facilities and isolation wards for COVID-19 patients. The newly developed medical facility in Mhalunge-Ingale village, Chakan Khed, will have isolation wards with a capacity to take care of 1,500 patients," the company said.The facility is in Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority's (MHADA) housing area, which is newly built with 374 rooms, it said.The German auto-maker said it will assist the Zila Parishad with all the necessary infrastructure including the medical equipment required to create a temporary OPD, infrastructure for stay, stretchers, wheel chairs, PPE kits, sanitisers, among others."In these challenging times, we are trying to support the local community and the local authorities. The new medical facility will help support the local authorities and the people of the region with healthcare in the coming times, if the situation worsens. We hope for a steady recovery of the crisis and getting back to normalcy," said Martin Schwenk, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mercedes-Ben India.According to the company, after easing of the COVID-19 condition, the medical equipment will be donated to the Civil Hospital of Khed, and the assets from isolation wards will be donated to the tribal youth hostels. The company has also directly supported by donating ventilators to a hospital, it said, adding, "Mercedes-Benz India will also support 1,600 families from Khed and Viman Nagar area (a locality in Pune near the airport). The company will provide them dry ration and cleaning kits."This initiative will be executed through Mercedes-Benz India's existing partner NGOs, Shashwat Trust and Ashraya Initiatives for children and will secure the food and hygiene requirement for these families till the May. The government recently compulsorily retired two <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=IPS+officers&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">IPS officers</a> on the basis of a performance review required to be held at the end of 15 and 25 years of service under the All-India service rules. This came out as a strong message to bureaucrats who fail to perform well in their careers. 
 The two officers are <keyword id="103483" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Raj-Kumar">Raj Kumar</keyword> <keyword id="4077690" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="dewangan">Dewangan</keyword> from 1992 batch of <keyword id="43945" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Chhattisgarh">Chhattisgarh</keyword> cadre and <keyword id="4075048" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mayank-Sheel-Chohan">Mayank Sheel Chohan</keyword> from 1998 batch of AGMU cadre. They were found to have put in sub-optimal performance by the concerned state cadre on the basis of their service records, ACRs and assessment of their seniors. 
 The cadre-controlling authority of <keyword id="6405408" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="IPS-officers">IPS officers</keyword> , <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=home+ministry&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">home ministry</a>, approved the recommendation of the concerned state cadres to compulsorily retire them from service "in public interest". 
 
"A notice has been served on them and as per rules, they were given three months salary along with compulsory retirement orders duly approved by appointments committee of Cabinet (ACC)," an officer told TOI. 
 
The last time an IPS officer was 'compulsory retired' was nearly 10 to 15 years ago. It reportedly involved officers of Maharashtra cadre. 
 
"It is technically not a punishment but merely an action taken to remove officers seen as deadwood by their respective cadres and the Centre for not being serious in discharge of their duties. The compulsorily retired officer gets all post-retirement benefits," an officer told TOI. 
 
As per sources, two IAS officers were also compulsorily retired recently on the same grounds. 
 
Alternatively, the Centre may ask state to conduct such a review at any time it deems fit in case such a review has not been held at 15 or 25 years of service. 
 
As per rules, the bureaucrat found fit for compulsory retirement is either given at least three months notice in writing or three month's pay and allowances in lieu of such notice. The government, in the case of Dewangan and Chohan, opted for the latter.

They have also been paid a month's salary as per their contract."We have accepted the resignation of 18 Boeing captains," a spokesperson of SpiceJet said in response to a query.  The ayurvedic consumer goods company Patanjali, founded by Baba Ramdev, has given ₹25 crore to the PM CARES Fund and set up five quarantine centers for those who have testing positive for Coronavirus. Indian tech giant Infosys, will be donating ₹100 crore through the Infosys Foundation, the company's arm for philanthropic efforts. Branches of government doing their part National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) officials are putting up one day's salary towards PM CARES. Coal India Limited (CIL) has pledged ₹220 crore and NLC India has promised ₹25 crore. All of Indian Railway's employees have pledged one day's salary to the newly-formed Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM-CARES) Fund, according to union minister Piyush Goyal. Collectively, the contribution will amount to ₹151 crore from Indian Railways Ministry. IIT or <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Indian+Institute+of+Technology">Indian Institute of Technology</a> is India’s premier technology institute (as if you don’t know). Word of mouth is back in the Valley (<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Silicon+Valley">Silicon Valley</a>, San Francisco Bay), the world’s global tech capital, people utter ‘<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Indian+Institute+of+Technology">IIT</a>’ with the same reverence as ‘<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=MIT">MIT</a>’. 
 
Notable IIT alumni include <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Google">Google</a> CEO <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Sundar+Pichai">Sundar Pichai</a>, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Infosys">Infosys</a> founder <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=N.R.+Narayan+Murthy">N.R. Narayan Murthy</a>, and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Sun+Microsystems">Sun Microsystems</a> co-founder <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Vinod+Khosla">Vinod Khosla</a>. However, with fame comes pressure. 
 
Here are some of the woes every average IITian deals with: 
 
#1 Social Media hate for ‘wasting public money’ 
Scan social media, and you’ll find widespread hate and animosity because of the amount of money the government spends on educating IITians. They are supposedly a liability for the nation. 
 
Comments like ‘Our IITs have swallowed 1000 Crores each year for 60 years and haven’t done any net real value addition to 1.3 billion people’, or ‘Ask for tenders from private people globally to operate and manage all govt run academic institutions under license for 30 years (without selling any real assets) and let govt stop interfering.’ 
 
Is it reasonable to hand over the country’s brightest brains to money mongers? Shouldn’t quality education be available to all? 
 Internet tolls, if you haven’t cracked <keyword id="1629952" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="JEE-mains">JEE Mains</keyword> and Advanced, it means you haven’t worked hard enough. IITians can be anything, lucky isn’t one of them. 
 
#2 Bhai, tera package kitna hai? (Dude, what’s your package?) 
The idea is ‘IITians mostly settle abroad. Those who remain draw annual salaries of over Rs. 25 lakhs.’ 
 
Reality is 80% of IIT salaries remain below Rs. 12 lakhs p.a. It’s easy to file an RTI and find this out, but spreading social media hate is just easier. 
 
Also, if you’re cribbing they’re ‘taking away’ your job, people like <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Infosys">Infosys</a> founder <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=N.R.+Narayan+Murthy">N.R. Narayan Murthy</a> and the Bansals of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Flipkart">Flipkart</a> are offering thousands of jobs. If you can’t land a job, you’re not good enough. 
 
Work hard, and by the way, get a life. 
 
#3 You must be Superman! 
Not every IITian wants to go to an IIM or join the IAS. 
 
The idea is that if you’re from IIT, you’re a master in everything. If your package is anything below Rs. 30 to 40 lakhs per annum, you spent your IIT days dating random girls, getting sloshed and smoking LSD. 
 
My idea is that IITs should feel like the Navy Seals training program. So much stress. They’re 18 year olds right out of school for god’s sake. They’re in college to study, not in a mission to kill <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Osama+bin+Laden">Osama bin Laden</a>! 
 
Bad parents, an IIT degree doesn’t come with a confirmed job offer from <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Google">Google</a>. Also, don’t salivate over the prospect of 30% hike on dowry. 
 
That’s just sick…and a crime. 
 
Love on Campus? 
IITians are blessed with a 10:1 ratio of boys to girls. 
 
If you’re a man, you may not find many girls to chat or date. 
 
If you found love on campus…you deserve respect.
