Coimbatore, Ace fashion designer <keyword id="15775" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="satya-paul">Satya Paul</keyword>, known for giving the Indian saree a contemporary touch, has passed away at the age of 79, his son <keyword id="124523" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Puneet-Nanda">Puneet Nanda</keyword> said. Paul, who had suffered a stroke in December, breathed his last at Sadhguru's <keyword id="746297" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Isha-Yoga-Center">Isha Yoga Center</keyword> on Wednesday. "He had a stroke on December 2 and as he was slowly recovering in the hospital, his <keyword id="10557792" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="only-wish">only wish</keyword> was to get all the things he was being monitored and poked with - removed so he could fly away. "We finally got clearance from doctors to take him back to Isha Yoga Center, his home since 2015. As per his wish, he gently passed on with blessings of the Master," Nanda wrote on Facebook. Nanda said though there's grief for his father's loss, the family is also celebrating the wholesome life the designer led. "He couldn't have had a sweeter life or passage, at the feet of the Master. We are sad a bit, mostly rejoicing him, his life and now his passing with such a blessing," Nanda wrote. Sadhguru, Founder-Isha Foundation, tweeted a picture of Paul to condole the demise of the "visionary" fashion designer. "Satya Paul, a shining example of what it means to live with immeasurable passion and unrelenting involvement. The distinct vision you brought to the Indian fashion industry is a beautiful tribute to this. A privilege to have had you amongst us. Condolences and blessings," Sadhguru tweeted. Paul started his <keyword id="6374782" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="journey">journey</keyword> in the field of retail in the late 60's and expanded to exports of Indian handloom products to high-end retail stores in Europe and America. In 1980, he launched the first 'saree boutique' in <keyword id="3658" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="India">India</keyword>, L'Affaire, and founded the eponymous fashion clothing brand with his son in 1986. The brand soon became synonymous for its sleek sarees. Nanda wrote that his father, more than a designer or entrepreneur, was a "seeker." "In the 70's his inner journey started with going to listen to talks with J Krishnamurty, later he took 'sannyas' (renunciation) from Osho. After Osho left in 1990, though he wasn't seeking another Master, he discovered Sadhguru in 2007. "He immediately started enjoying the path of yoga and eventually moved here in 2015. He has been a doorway for hundreds of people towards spirituality and all the Masters he was so blessed to have been with," he added. According to a recent report released by Hyderabad-based enterprise digital marketing agency Pyrite Technologies, Sadhguru and Isha Outreach's Conscious Planet are India’s largest advertisers on Meta platforms in social and political causes category. They spent a total of 1.20 crores on Facebook and Instagram. Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev is an Indian yoga guru. He has more than 8.5 million followers on Instagram, 5.2 million fans on Facebook and 3.9 million followers on Twitter. Sadhuguru's Isha Foundation, according to its website, is also associated with a bouquet of business enterprises such as Isha Raiment, Isha Foods and Spices, Isha Crafts, Isha Naturo Organic Solutions, to mention a few. Following Sadhguru on the largest advertisers list is micro-blogging platform Koo. It spent almost ₹87 lakh on Meta in the 90-day period. It is pertinent to note that as per India's advertising rules, not all Indian brands are not obliged to declare their spends as they don’t fall <a href="https://e4mevents.com/pitch-madison-advertising-report-2021/public/PMAR-Report-2021.pdf" data-type="tilCustomLink">under social causes category.</a> Between April 27 and July 25, Meta saw more than 12,863 advertisers from India and collected ₹13.94 crores in advertising revenues. By Yoshita Singh United Nations, Jun 12 () Recognising the importance of yoga in helping people deal with increased depression and anxiety due to disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, India's Permanent Mission to the UN has developed a special "Yoga Module" of exercises, breathing and meditation practices to mark this year's International Yoga Day. The 6th International Day of Yoga will be commemorated virtually this year due to COVID-19 restrictions in place and requirements of social distancing. The Permanent Mission of India to the UN will commemorate the International Day of Yoga on June 19, at a time when the global outbreak of COVID-19 has upended lives and disrupted lifestyles of people across the world, the mission said. Recognising the important role of yoga, the mission, together with yoga gurus and therapists, has created a special yoga module, 'Yoga for Health - Yoga at Home' on the occasion of the International Yoga Day. The mission said that the module is a safe set of yoga practices, based on available scientific evidence, designed for all age-groups, which can be practiced from homes. The module, which includes simple yoga exercises, breathing and meditation practices to improve physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health, will be webcast on various virtual platforms on June 19. The mission noted that adapting to lifestyle changes such as work from home and lack of physical contact with friends and colleagues have been particularly challenging for people. "Studies indicate that there has been a rise in depression, anxiety, and fear than normal among people during these changing times. The increasing psychological suffering, mental health problems and the mental health dimension of this pandemic needs to be effectively addressed," the mission said in a press release. Given the increase in depression and anxiety among people in the era of coronavirus, the message of yoga in promoting physical and mental health and the well-being of humanity have never been more relevant, it added. "There is a growing trend of people all over the world embracing yoga to fight social isolation and depression during the pandemic. Yoga can also play a significant role in the psycho-social care and rehabilitation of COVID-19 patients in quarantine and isolation. They are particularly useful in allaying their fears and anxiety," it noted. The module includes a session by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev on 'Yoga for Respiratory Health' where the spiritual leader will speak about the need and importance of maintaining an inner balance during these challenging times. In a 15-minute session 'Yoga for Soothing the Heart', Yoga Guru Kishor Chandra from the Bhakti Center will lead followers through asanas and pranayama that will help balance and soothe the heart. In the session 'Basics of Yoga', Yoga Acharya Swami Sivadasananda, Director of the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres in Europe, will give a glimpse of simple Asanas along with Pranayama and relaxation. A meditation session from Sahaj Yoga will be a guided meditation exercise aimed to relax the mind. India's Consulate General in New York will host a virtual session titled 'Sustainability Yoga and Social Inclusion' on June 13 to mark International Yoga Day. This year, the International Day of Yoga, marked on June 21, will be commemorated virtually due to the COVID-19-related restrictions in place and requirements of social distancing. "The COVID-19 pandemic has created a new reality for many of us. It has disrupted lives, created loneliness caused by social distancing as it has also led to increased anxiety caused by economic difficulties, fear of illness and worry about loved ones. This is only natural. This year's celebration comes amidst this critical context," UNGA President Tijjani Muhammad-Bande said in a virtual message. In commemorating the International Day of Yoga this year, he said "we recognise the important benefits of practicing yoga and its potential in helping people deal with increased anxiety due to the disruptions caused by the pandemic." In previous years, India's Permanent Mission commemorated the day at a grand scale in the UN premises. However, this time the mission hosted a virtual 'Yoga for Health - Yoga at Home' session on Friday to mark the International Yoga Day at a time when the global outbreak of COVID-19 has upended lives and disrupted lifestyles of people across the world. India's Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador T S Tirumurti said the global outbreak of COVID-19 has "upended lives and disrupted lifestyles" of people across the world. "Studies indicate a rise in depression and anxiety among people due to the difficulty in adapting to such lifestyle changes," he said, adding that there is a growing trend of people from many parts of the world embracing yoga to fight social isolation and depression during the pandemic. Tirumurti said to commemorate Yoga Day this year under the theme of 'Yoga for Health, Yoga for Home', the endeavour has been to put together simple yoga modules, carefully designed by experienced yoga gurus, that can be practiced from home by all age groups. Muhammad-Bande said celebration of the International Day of Yoga is a "unique opportunity" to recognise the holistic approach to health and well being provided by the practice of yoga especially in times like this. "Global health is a long term objective that requires close international cooperation and exchange of best practices. Health no longer only implies the condition of not being sick. It's also about being actively well," he said, adding that multiple studies have confirmed the interdependent mental and physical benefits of yoga. "The meaning of yoga is most commonly interpreted as a union - the union of the mind and the body - but it also signifies the interconnectedness of the human body and spirit to all the elements of the world that surrounds us."
