Indian cricket legend <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=sachin+tendulkar&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Sachin Tendulkar </a>spilled beans on what prompted him to retire in 2013. In his post on <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=linkedin&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">LinkedIn</a>, Tendulkar said the first thoughts of retiring from international cricket came to his mind in October 2013 during a Champions League T20 match. 
 Tendulkar, who has joined <keyword id="28120" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Linkedin">LinkedIn</keyword> as an Influencer, posted a write-up 'My Second Innings', in which he shared his life after <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=cricket&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">cricket</a>, detailing his transition from the game to other projects. 
 
"It was October 2013 during one of the Champions League games in Delhi. My mornings would start with a gym workout, a routine I had been following for 24 years. But that morning in October, something had changed," wrote Tendulkar, adding “I realised that I had to force myself to wake up and go about my day. I knew that the gym training was a critical part of my cricket -- something that had been my life for 24 years. Yet, there was reluctance. Why?” 
 
Tendulkar took these as signs. 
 
Tendulkar was part of the 2013 CLT20-winning Mumbai Indians side and played in three matches in Delhi -- on October 2, October 5 and October 6 (against Rajathan Royals in the final). 
 
After that he played in his last two Test matches in Kolkata and Mumbai in November against the West Indies in a hurriedly arranged series before walking into the sunset. 
 
Writing about the process of making the retirement decision, he wrote, "Sunil Gavaskar, one of my heroes and a former cricketer, once said that he made up his mind to quit the game when he found himself checking the clock, to see how much time there was left for the lunch and tea intervals. Suddenly I knew exactly what he meant. My mind and my body were telling me the same thing. Maybe, it's time to hang up my boots. 
 
"I also remembered the words of Billy Jean King, at Wimbledon a few years ago - you will know for sure when to go, it will come from inside you, don't let the world decide when you have to retire. 
 
"But what will a sportsman do if he's not a sportsman anymore? How do you prepare for a day when something that consumed each day of the 24 years of your life, isn't the focus anymore? 
 
"The energising chant of 'Sachin, Sachin' that the crowds cheered each time I walked onto the field, was an indescribable feeling and rush. This probably won't be heard anymore. Was I ready for that? These thoughts and a discussion with my family and closest friends helped make up my mind. My innings was indeed coming to an end," he wrote. 
 
"The years flashed before my eyes. The victories, the losses, the celebrations, the challenges and the silences ... the journey. India's win at the World Cup in 2011 was a dream come true as was the team's generous gesture of dedicating the cup to me. But, that chapter of my life was ending. What now, I wondered." 
 
He said his "first innings was about chasing my dreams, the second one is about satisfaction".

Thus, the trend of weekend trips and seasonal travel has become popular among Indians. Tech-savvy millennials primarily browse for best travel packages and in-destination activities through their mobile phones. 
 
The report further maps the evolving pattern of the Indian digital traveler and states that ownership of digital devices, accessibility to the internet, the convenience of online booking, various payment modes and favourable pricing are the key driving forces for online travel shopping.

Indian travelers do intensive research for their travel plan 
The price conscious, smart Indian traveler does intensive research and compares prices before buying a travel package online. Therefore, about 59% people browse travel websites over the weekend, according to the survey. About 80% of people from all age groups prefer to browse and search for travel products and services when they are at home. 
 
Indians prefer mobiles for browsing and booking Millennials (54%) and <keyword id="144622" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Baby-boomers">baby boomers</keyword> (44%) most often use the smartphone for online browsing of travel products and services, while <keyword id="3114982" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Gen-Xers">Gen Xers</keyword> (49%) use laptops. 
 
Millennials and Baby Boomers browse for travel products online mostly because of convenience, however, Gen Xers look for accessibility. The survey further highlighted that on average, a person took 6.7 trips in the past 12 months with an average spending on a leisure trip of Rs 55,176 while debit and credit cards are the most popular modes of payment. 
 
Travelers these days prefer booking online directly with airlines or hotels, or through OTAs mainly because it’s easier to change and cancel their bookings. Also, the user-friendly interface and cheap deals attract their attention.

According to the report, 57% of Indian digital travelers are most influenced by travel website reviews, posts and forums, especially in the case of Millennials. However, they are also influenced by experience from their last trip (50%), as well as internet advertisements of the destination and travel services (56%), respectively. 
 
Consumers are drawn to the fact that online shopping can help them save time, compare prices easily, and provide best deals. These are also among the key drivers of online travel sales.

Malls were shut for over three months due to the pandemic, putting immense pressure on retailers and mall operators. Smaaash shuts down – founder calls it a ‘premature death’ for the company
