Google for India – Sachet loans to credit on UPI, tech giant bets on lending

The Fintech Lending Trends report uncovers the lending patterns for the fast-moving fintech lending industry. It aims to contribute to market players making informed decisions and expanding prudently and responsibly. Personal loans remain the dominant product, accounting for 96% of the total disbursement volume and 66% of the total value. The highest number of personal loans are disbursed in less than ₹5,000 ticket size. When it comes to consumer durable loans, loans of ticket sizes between ₹5000-₹10,000 witnessed the highest growth of 493% from April 2021 to April 2022. Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh are the top five states for digital loans accounting for a total of 54% of the total disbursement value. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana see the highest growth of digital borrowing at 87% and 67%, respectively. "Helpful for switching between accounts - such as your work and personal - now you no longer need to log out each time, carry two phones or worry about messaging from the wrong place," the company said in a blog post. To set up a second account, you will need a second phone number and SIM card, or a phone that accepts multi-SIM or eSIM. Simply open your WhatsApp settings, click on the arrow next to your name, and click "Add account". This will allow you to manage two separate accounts within the app. While setting up, you will need your second phone with SIM or a phone with physical or eSIM facility for multi-SIM as you will have to authenticate your account while logging in. The company said that you will be able to manage separate notifications and privacy settings for each account. It is available on both WhatsApp beta and stable versions. Advertisers will now have to disclose whenever political ads contain a photorealistic image or video, or realistic sounding audio, that was digitally created or altered to depict a real person as saying or doing something they did not say or do. The policy will apply to ads that depict a realistic-looking person that does not exist or a realistic-looking event that did not happen, or alter footage of a real event that happened; or depict a realistic event that allegedly occurred, but that is not a true image, video, or audio recording of the event. "Advertisers running these ads do not need to disclose when content is digitally created or altered in ways that are inconsequential or immaterial to the claim, assertion, or issue raised in the ad," Meta said in a blog post late on Wednesday. This may include image size adjusting, cropping an image, colour correction, or image sharpening, unless such changes are consequential or material to the claim, assertion, or issue raised in the ad. The new policy will go into effect in the new year and will be required globally. Meta will add information on the ad when an advertiser discloses in the advertising flow that the content is digitally created or altered. This information will also appear in the Ad Library. "If we determine that an advertiser doesn't disclose as required, we will reject the ad and repeated failure to disclose may result in penalties against the advertiser. We will share additional details about the specific process advertisers will go through during the ad creation process," said the company. Indian Space Research Organisation (<keyword id="6358064" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ISRO" source="Orion">ISRO</keyword>) successfully executed the <keyword id="19218514" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Test-Flight-Abort-Mission" source="Orion">Test Flight Abort Mission</keyword>, for the <keyword id="6797456" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Gaganyaan" source="Orion">Gaganyaan</keyword> mission on Saturday after the first test flight was aborted at 8:45 am due to a problem in the engine ignition. Earlier today, ISRO briefly aborted the launch of the first uncrewed test flight (TV-D1 Flight Test) in the Gaganyaan Mission. The space agency then said that the errors have been identified and corrected and the second launch was scheduled for 10:00 Hrs today. This Flight test vehicle Abort mission is conducted to demonstrate the performance of the Crew escape system as part of the Gaganyaan mission. The mission objectives of the TV-D1 launch are: Flight demonstration and evaluation of Test Vehicle subsystems; flight demonstration and evaluation of Crew Escape System including various separation systems; crew module characteristics; and deceleration system demonstration at higher altitudes and its recovery. The Test Vehicle is a single-stage liquid rocket developed for this abort mission. The payloads consist of the Crew Module (CM) and Crew Escape Systems (CES) with their fast-acting solid motors, along with CM fairing (CMF) and Interface Adapters. This flight simulated the abort condition during the ascent trajectory corresponding to a Mach number of 1.2 encountered in the Gaganyaan mission. This mission represents a significant milestone in India's effort to demonstrate that it is possible to send humans into space. The Gaganyaan project envisages a demonstration of human spaceflight capability by launching a crew of three members into an orbit of 400 km for a 3-day mission and bringing them safely back to earth by landing in Indian waters. This programme will make India the fourth nation to launch a manned spaceflight mission after the US, Russia, and China. Building on the success of the Indian space initiatives, including the recent Chandrayan-3 and Aditya L1 missions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi directed that India should now aim for new and ambitious goals, including setting up 'Bharatiya Antariksha Station' (Indian Space Station) by 2035 and sending the first Indian to the Moon by 2040. ISRO successfully launches Test Flight Abort Mission for project Gaganyaan

The festive season smartphone sales grew 25 per cent (on-year) in value in the first week (October 8-15) driven by strong demand for Samsung, <keyword id="6354427" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="apple" source="Orion">Apple</keyword> and Xiaomi devices, according to Counterpoint Research. Online channels, which experienced slow demand throughout the year, registered a bigger-than-expected surge in demand, prompting them to raise prices from the third day of the sales week. Around 80 per cent of phones sold on Amazon and Flipkart during first 48 hours were 5G capable. On Flipkart, the premium segment growth was almost 50 per cent YoY driven by the <keyword id="6354606" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="iphone" source="Orion">iPhone</keyword> 14 and Galaxy S21 FE, while on Amazon, the segment growth was almost 200 per cent driven by the iPhone 13 and Galaxy S23 FE. This year, the iPhone 14, iPhone 13 and iPhone 12 all experienced high demand, unlike a year ago when the iPhone 13 was the major driver. The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE alsowitnessed strong sales. The model was sold out after two days of the sale on Flipkart. The Rs 10,000-Rs 15,000 price segment witnessed faster 5G upgrades as OEMs launched many devices ahead of the festive season. The realme Narzo 60x 5G, Galaxy M14 5G and M34 5G were the top sellers on Amazon,while the vivo T2x was the top seller on Flipkart. "We are witnessing strong demand for premium devices even after the first week of sales, driven by the availability of many financing and credit schemes, including per-day EMIs," the report mentioned. The strong consumer sentiment will continue in offline sales as well due to parity between offline and online discounts. "Overall, we believe the festive season smartphone sales this year will grow 7 per cent YoY in terms of volumes while the average selling price (ASP) will grow 15 per cent YoY," the report said. Korean smartphone maker Samsung has now revealed its own AI suite, the Galaxy AI, which it claims will transform your everyday mobile experience. Samsung’s Galaxy AI will soon be offered with the company’s smartphones. This will be powered by both on-device AI and cloud-based AI, similar to Google’s AI features. Samsung has said that the AI features will come early next year.
