<ul><li> <keyword id="6355455" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="indian-railways">Indian Railways</keyword> is proposing to go all vegetarian to honour <keyword id="6355532" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="mahatma-gandhi">Mahatma Gandhi</keyword> on his 150th birth anniversary on 02 October.</li><li>They are also planning to issue tickets with watermark of Mahatma <keyword id="6356181" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="gandhi">Gandhi</keyword>'s image. </li><li>It is also planning to run special ‘swachhata express’ trains from <keyword id="50476" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="sabarmati">Sabarmati</keyword>, a suburb of the city Ahmedabad, to various stations connected with Gandhiji.</li></ul> Indians are big on vegetarianism, or so they say. According to <a href="http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-india-43581122">research</a>, only 20% of Indians are actually vegetarians. Yet, this year, the Indian Railways is <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/industry/transportation/railways/indian-railways-ode-to-mahatma-gandhi-no-non-vegetarian-food-on-october-2/articleshow/64243397.cms">proposing to go all vegetarian</a> to honour the father of the country, Mahatma Gandhi, on his 150th birth anniversary, on October 2. If the proposal is greenlit, in addition to the day being observed as the <keyword id="5298026" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="rashtriya-swachhta-diwas">Rashtriya Swachhta Diwas</keyword> -- a day dedicated to clean India -- it will also be a ‘Vegetarian Day’. Last month, a circular was sent out to all railway zones by the Railway Board that said "no non-vegetarian food will be served anywhere on Indian Railways premises", on October 2, 2018, 2019, 2020. Bad news for those yearning for the quintessential railways ‘anda’ (egg) curry may want to consider changing their travel dates. Not just that, the railways also plans to run a 'special salt rake' from the city of Sabarmati on 12 March to commemorate Gandhi’s famous Salt March (also known as Dandi March) - a non-violent civil disobedience protest lead by the Father of the Nation to produce salt from the seawater in the coastal village of Dandi. They are also planning to issue tickets with watermark of Mahatma Gandhi's image. Plus, the plan proposes railway stations to have thematic paintings of Gandhiji and ‘digital museums’ are being set up at the station that will highlight the great leader’s achievements. It also wants to display a special logo, that will be designed by the Ministry of Culture, outside the train coaches. All these proposals are subject to approval from the Ministry of Culture, the nodal ministry for the special commemoration. On 2 May, President <keyword id="6354561" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="ram-nath-kovind">Ram Nath Kovind</keyword> chaired the first meeting of the National Committee for the Commemoration of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi during which he <a href="http://pib.nic.in/newsite/PrintRelease.aspx?relid=179084">said</a>, “He (Mahatma Gandhi) was the inspiration for our largely non-violent, inclusive and democratic freedom struggle.’ As an aside, here’s an <a href="https://thewire.in/12170/what-mahatma-gandhi-said-to-those-who-wanted-beef-banned-in-india/?utm_source=alsoread">excerpt</a> from the Mahatma Gandhi’s prayer discourse of 25 July 1947, when he was inundated by multiple requests to implement a nationwide beef ban: “In India no law can be made to ban cow-slaughter. I do not doubt that Hindus are forbidden the slaughter of cows. I have been long pledged to serve the cow but how can my religion also be the religion of the rest of the Indians? It will mean coercion against those Indians who are not Hindus. We have been shouting from the house-tops that there will be no coercion in the matter of religion. We have been reciting verses from the Koran at the prayer. But if anyone were to force me to recite these verses, I would not like it. How can I force anyone not to slaughter cows.” unless he is himself so disposed? It is not as if there were only Hindus in the Indian Union. There are Muslims, Parsis, Christians and other religious groups here.”

 When asked one of the sellers, <keyword id="4064454" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="jaimal-marwada">Jaimal Marwada</keyword> told the media that it’s just a two-day affair, so he didn’t buy Point-of-Sale terminals. At their villages, they are still comfortable doing business in cash. 
 While another artisan <keyword id="4064455" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="kamal-parghi">Kamal Parghi</keyword> selling saree has made a pact with <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=vibrant+gujarat&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Gurjari</a>, the state government outlet to accept payments on their behalf. 
 It seemed that the cashless call of the PM hasn’t been seriously considered at the venue of Vibrant Gujarat. While there were options to pay digitally at <keyword id="50476" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="sabarmati">Sabarmati</keyword> dining area, many government officials buying food were paying by cash. 
 
Though Modi has dreamt of a <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=vibrant+gujarat&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">cashless India</a> but that doesn’t seem to be realized anytime soon. The cab this correspondent was travelling in was paying at petrol pumps on cash. On being enquired, the driver said, they are comfortable in cash and would switch to cards only if it is mandatory.

 <keyword id="55212" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="xi">Xi</keyword> employed the now-familiar Chinese stalling tactic, saying he’d give the relevant orders to get a better picture of what exactly was happening. But the two sides showed just how far apart they are on this issue. In his statement, the PM focused on the border crisis. Xi merely touched on it towards the end of his statement, just to say that such incidents “happen”. 
 On the other hand, <keyword id="3658" type="COUNTRY" weightage="80" keywordseo="India">India</keyword> and China signed a record 16 agreements where <keyword id="1333" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Beijing">Beijing</keyword> promised investments worth $20 billion in five years, a very different figure from the $100 billion indicated by Chinese officials in Mumbai a few days ago. But India opened the doors to Chinese investment in infrastructure, including upgrading railway tracks, stations and doubling the speed of trains. 
 ?Xi said China would welcome India into the <keyword id="170281" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Shanghai-Cooperation-Organization">Shanghai Cooperation Organization</keyword>, but expects India to welcome it into SAARC. India may find this difficult. China in SAARC would effectively isolate India.? As a sweetener, China offered a new road to Kailash Mansarovar through Nathu La in Sikkim.? 
 
But Modi, like Manmohan Singh before him, made peace on the border a precondition to increased cooperation. We have the sincerity to work with India to maintain peace and tranquility in the border areas before we are finally able to settle the boundary question.” 
 <keyword id="46159" type="POSITION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Foreign-Minister">Foreign minister</keyword>, <keyword id="6355111" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Sushma-Swaraj">Sushma Swaraj</keyword> greeted Xi with “Ge xia, wo hen huanying nin dao yindu lai.” It was a part of the positive atmospherics that accompanied the Xi visit. The Chinese president reciprocated in full measure, when he quoted liberally from Rabindranath Tagore and showed his knowledge of Indian history. Modi spoke of a “new chapter”, a sentiment endorsed by Xi when he said India could look forward to a “spectacular future” under Modi.

Though the engineering and construction giant did not reveal the worth of the order, as per the project classification of the company, a large project falls in the range of ₹ 2,500 crore to ₹ 5,000 crore. "The buildings and factories business of L&amp;T Construction has secured an order from the <keyword id="6432751" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="national-high-speed-rail-corporation-limited" source="Orion">National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited</keyword> (NHSRCL) to construct the Sabarmati Depot (MAHSR - D-2) in Gujarat for the (MAHSR project through a consortium led by <keyword id="1137882" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="sojitz-corporation" source="Orion">Sojitz Corporation</keyword>, Japan," it said. The scope of the project involves design, supply, construction and testing, and commissioning of the depot spread over approximately 82 hectares including various specialised equipment required to inspect and maintain the rolling stock based on the proven <keyword id="1932907" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="shinkansen" source="Orion">Shinkansen</keyword> technology and upon completion, will be the biggest depot in India for this purpose. L&amp;T is already executing civil viaduct and station packages (C4, C5 &amp; C6), special steel bridges packages P4(X) and P4 (Y), and ballastless track works for the bullet train project. L&T bags new large order in Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project

New Delhi, <keyword id="9792929" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="airline-major-spicejet">Airline major SpiceJet</keyword> on Friday said that its <keyword id="1685893" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="seaplane-operations">seaplane operations</keyword> will restart from December 27 after they were temporarily suspended due to <keyword id="10455530" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="mandatory-aircraft-maintenance">mandatory aircraft maintenance</keyword>. In October, the airline company had launched a seaplane service between Ahmedabad (Sabarmati riverfront) and the Statue of Unity in Kevadia, Gujarat.
