B2B fintech payments platform <keyword id="10285387" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="rupifi" source="Orion">Rupifi</keyword> on Friday said it has raised $25 million in its Series-A round led by Bessemer Venture Partners and <keyword id="526777" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tiger-global" source="Orion">Tiger Global</keyword>. The platform operates in the B2B payments space through its <keyword id="4585897" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="buy-now-pay-later" source="Orion">buy now pay later</keyword> (<keyword id="9522245" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="bnpl" source="Orion">BNPL</keyword>) and SME-focused commercial card products. Despite the subdued economic activity, Rupifi managed to record 50 per cent (on-month) growth in disbursals in the last 12 months while covering more than 50,000 SMEs, the platform said in a statement. "With this current investment, we plan to build further towards our goal of disrupting B2B payments and transactions. Our B2B BNPL is currently operating at some of the category-leading B2B marketplaces in India across sectors such as FMCG, pharma, fashion, electronics, agriculture and food," said Anubhav Jain, Co-Founder and CEO of Rupifi. "We are now moving towards building the complete B2B checkout product for marketplaces and omni-channel mobile-first B2B payments solutions for merchants, distributors and sellers," he added. Existing investors Quona Capital and Ankur Capital also participated in the funding round, along with Better Capital. Founded in 2020 by Jain, Ankit Singh and Jawaid Iqbal, this is Rupifi's second investment round within a span of nine months, since its Pre-Series A in March last year. The platform is working with marketplaces such as Flipkart Wholesale, Retailio and Fynd, among others. "In the $1 trillion B2B commerce and payments space in India, Rupifi has demonstrated rapid growth and proven product leadership", said John Curtius from Tiger Global. The last month of 2021 saw good hiring growth in India in sectors like travel and hospitality, retail and education, owing to the festive quarter and a rebound, a new report showed on Friday. The rebound was, however, likely to be hampered once again with the <keyword id="1609796" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="omicron" source="Orion">Omicron</keyword> variant spread in the country this month. According to the Naukri JobSpeak Index, the festive year-end marked an upswing in hiring activity over last year across all major metros. "While IT has continued to drive growth in hiring, it is heartening to see a comeback from sectors of hospitality and travel, retail, and real estate," said Pawan Goyal, Chief Business Officer, <keyword id="218117" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="naukri-com" source="Orion">Naukri.com</keyword>. Top metro cities saw growth in hiring when compared with December last year. Hyderabad led at +12 per cent (on-year), growth followed by Bengaluru (+11 per cent), Mumbai (+8 per cent), Pune (+4 per cent), and Chennai (+6 per cent). Delhi was flat and Kolkata de-grew by 3 per cent. "We see a lot of talent shifting back to their cities of work with most companies drafting their return to work policies. As companies continue to press the pedal on their digital transformation journeys, the demand for certain functional areas and sectors will keep growing," Goyal added. Among the emerging cities, Ahmedabad (+21 per cent) recorded the highest growth. Hiring for new jobbers and young professionals was steady in December as demand for freshers and professionals with 4-7 years of experience remained flat. Demand was slightly affected for professionals in the 8-12 years (-4 per cent) and 13-16 years (-9 per cent) experience segments, the report said. Retail, travel and hospitality sectors hired the most number of employees in December: Report

The company has declared the third interim dividend of ₹150 per share for the current financial year FY22 along with a 1:1 bonus share issue, which means for every one share an investor holds in the company, he/she will get an additional share. However, this was below investors’ expectation considering the company had a good cash reserve after it sold its healthcare services business to Barings Private Equity Asia in August 2021 for an enterprise value of ₹8,906 crore ($1.2 billion). With this, the street expected two times the dividend offered by the company. “The company has around ₹8,000 crore of cash reserves at the moment and it has given a dividend amounting to ₹315 crore as dividend, which is not even 4% of cash reserves. The street expected a dividend of at least 5-10% of cash reserves,” Kranthi Bathini, director of equity strategy at WealthMills Securities, told Business Insider.
