<ul class="summary-list"><li>After a surprise engagement, I couldn't wait to get married.</li><li>Shopping for rings and suits triggered my body insecurities.</li></ul><p>In my 30s, I unexpectedly met the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.insider.com/never-been-in-a-significant-relationship-marriage-2023-7">love of my life</a> and, to my even bigger surprise, got engaged.</p><p>I was excited about our <a target="_blank" href="https://www.insider.com/signs-youre-ready-to-marry-your-partner-therapist-2023-11">wedding</a>, but moments meant to be celebratory, including picking out wedding bands and suits, made me feel uncomfortable with my body and develop major <a target="_blank" href="https://www.insider.com/wedding-therapist-says-ask-2-questions-if-have-cold-feet-2021-10">cold feet</a>.</p><h2><strong>I've struggled with body issues my entire life</strong></h2><p>Growing up, I was the shortest, the chubbiest, and — thanks to having <a target="_blank" href="https://www.insider.com/cancer-surgery-scar-chest-embarassed-body-image-lgbtq-2023-5">leukemia</a> — the baldest kid in school. My classmates teased me relentlessly, hurling insults like "Cancer Charlie Brown" and rubbing their wet hands on my head to dry.</p><p>Sometimes, I was relieved to be sent to the hospital — being poked by needles hurt less than others poking fun at me. The constant teasing shredded my self-confidence.</p><p>As I got older, I felt even more insecure about my body. I wanted to look like Dave Bautista, but my height peaked at 5-foot-2, and despite diets and workouts, I always carried a few extra pounds.</p><p>Feeling inferior to other guys, I sought extreme measures such as <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/limb-leg-lengthening-surgery-changed-life-height-cost-2023-1">limb-lengthening surgery</a> and muscle implants. Ultimately, they were too risky and expensive, leaving me more distraught.</p><p>Then I met Michael, a charming public-health professor. Being with someone comfortable in his skin and supportive of my needs helped me build back confidence — at least for a while.</p><h2><strong>I literally couldn't put a ring on it</strong></h2><p>When it came time for ring shopping, I envisioned going to Tiffany's, where salespeople served Champagne and gushed about our love. Instead, our modest budget took us to a strip mall in New Jersey. The store was dark and smelled like mothballs. Still, I was thrilled to share this magical moment with my future husband — until I tried on a ring.</p><p>"Help," I pleaded, the silver titanium band squeezing my skin. I tugged hard, but it didn't budge. Finally, Michael grabbed Windex from the counter and sprayed my finger, and the ring slid off. I was mortified. Michael urged me to stay upbeat, but the next ring I tried got stuck, too.</p><p>"You have fat fingers," a salesperson, obviously not working on commission, said. "They look like carrot stubs."</p><p>Suddenly, all the years of pointing, snickering, and taunting stormed through my head, and it was too much. Michael tried to be supportive, but being ridiculed — again — was a pain he couldn't take away.</p><p>"Maybe we should call it off," I said. I meant ring shopping, but I was suddenly having second thoughts about our marriage, too. This was supposed to be a happy time; how could I get married if I felt miserable?</p><h2><strong>Finding a suit became an impossible task</strong></h2><p>Shopping for suits was equally frustrating. We went to 10 stores, where I'd grab dozens of suits, carrying them in my arms like stray puppies, and beeline to the dressing room. I was hopeful when jackets didn't pop their buttons, only for the pants to dead end at my rear end.</p><p>"Why is this so hard? I asked a salesperson.</p><p>"Usually people as short as you are slimmer and don't have such a big butt," he said.</p><p>I wanted to gasp and say, "I've never been so insulted." But that was clichéd, and I've been called way worse. Once again, I hated my body and was extra touchy about getting teased.</p><p>"Maybe this wedding isn't meant to be," I said, letting my emotions get the better of me.</p><h2><strong>My fiancé's kindness and understanding helped my cold feet</strong></h2><p>An ever-supportive significant other, Michael calmly helped me deal with my meltdowns and insecurities. "We can wear jeans and use rubber bands as rings for all I care," he said.</p><p>It took work, but we eventually found a ring and a suit for me. I was grateful to stop obsessing and enjoy our wedding day. But just before our ceremony, something was off.</p><p>"I feel fat in this suit," I said. "I can't go out there."</p><p>Michael hugged me and told me I looked handsome but stressed that I needed to feel that way about myself.</p><p>"I wanted today to be perfect," I said.</p><p>"And I'm more focused on all the other days we're going to spend together," he replied.</p><p>I took Michael's hand and headed down the aisle. It started pouring, giving me something else to fret over, but we had a lovely ceremony and celebration. As our family and friends gathered around, and we danced to "Like a Prayer," it was one of the happiest moments of my life.</p><p>Maybe I'll never feel entirely comfortable with my body, but I was glad to get past my cold feet.</p>

In one video, YouTuber <keyword id="12055193" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="david-dobrik" source="Orion">David Dobrik</keyword> could be heard saying "stop" as he tugged at the back of Zeglaitis' sweatshirt, while Zeglaitis humped a female vlog extra in the hallway outside his apartment. In the other, Zeglaitis asked a woman why she would agree to smoke his marijuana if she wasn't going to reciprocate by performing sexual acts on him. </p><p>Zeglaitis, who had 2.7 million TikTok followers at the time of writing, rose to fame as one of Dobrik's childhood friends who appeared in Dobrik's vlogs. In one of two <a href="https://www.insider.com/david-dobrik-apology-video-vlog-squad-consent-is-super-important-2021-3">apology videos</a> released after Insider's article, Dobrik said it took multiple accusers for him to distance himself from Zeglaitis. </p><p>Zeglaitis and Dobrik didn't respond to Insider's request for comment on the allegations in this story.</p><h2>Two new accusers say Zeglaitis used his proximity to Dobrik to behave in a sexually inappropriate way toward them</h2><p>Other women have used TikTok to accuse Zeglaitis of sexual misconduct. One of them, Gabriella Lagunas, also came forward to Insider after reading the March investigation. On December 13, 2018, Lagunas said, she met Zeglaitis near his apartment, which was a frequent Vlog Squad filming location at the time. </p><p>She shared a photo that she took with Zeglaitis at the time with Insider, as well as screenshots of direct messages between the two. Lagunas, who was 21 at the time, said she'd hoped to meet Dobrik, of whom she was a fan. She went out to dinner with Zeglaitis, and he made her pay for their meals, she said. She said she was "pretty drunk" by the time she shot the video footage she shared with Insider, in which Zeglaitis asked, "What, you're trying to smoke my weed and not give me a blow job?"</p><p>Lagunas said Zeglaitis then invited her into the bathroom to test his new line of CBD oils, and that he attempted to rub them on her skin. She said she declined, but that as she attempted to exit the room, Zeglaitis put his hands on the wall, encircling her. Zeglaitis refused to let her pass until she kissed him, she said.</p><p>Zeglaitis then told her that she could either have sex with him or leave the apartment, Lagunas said. She agreed to have sex, and afterward Zeglaitis asked to take a video of her in her underwear. She agreed to that as well, but on the condition that Zeglaitis wouldn't share the video with anyone. Lagunas said that a few minutes after Zeglaitis took the video, he told her that he'd sent it to his friends in a group chat. </p><p>Another woman, for whom Insider agreed to use the alias Jennifer, appeared in a May 19, 2017, vlog. She was 18 at the time and a Dobrik fan. Along with other Vlog Squad fans, she hung around Zeglaitis' apartment when the group filmed there. And as with any high-impact exercise, running, leaping, and twisting can lead to injury if your dog jumps and lands awkwardly. If your dog is recovering from injuries, this is not a toy for them.</p><p>The squeak toy is not sturdy enough for large dogs to play tug, and while it's fairly durable, serious chewers need constant supervision. It comes with only one extra fuzzy squeak toy, and unfortunately, Outward Hound does not sell replacement toys. You can easily tie any toy to the end of the cord if your dog eviscerates the stuffy. A professional dog trainer shares how she uses this interactive teaser toy to train and tire out dogs of all energy levels

Others are calling it insensitive.</strong></li><li><strong>Scarlett Johansson is being criticized for doing her job. </strong></li></ul><hr /><p><br />Scarlett Johansson is the latest target of the social-justice warrior mob. The actress is being chastised for, well, acting.</p><p>She has been cast in a movie in which she will play someone different than herself. For this great crime - which seems to essentially define the career path she has chosen - she is being castigated for being insufficiently sensitive to the transgender community.</p><p>Johansson is set to play a transgender man in an upcoming film, "Rub and Tug," a film based on the true story of transgender massage parlor owner Dante "Tex" Gill. The announcement quickly garnered a reaction.</p><p>Trace Lysette, a transgender actress who plays Shea on "Transparent" took to <a href="https://twitter.com/tracelysette?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor">Twitter</a>: "<span>And not only do you play us and steal our narrative and our opportunity but you pat yourselves on the back with trophies and accolades for mimicking what we have lived... so twisted. I'm so done."</span></p><p>Her framing of the issue, which has been echoed by other actors and activists, is off base. "Stealing" narratives - or, more charitably, playing parts - is precisely what actors are hired to do. But that reality seems to have been forgotten. CNN <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2018/07/04/entertainment/scarlett-johansson-transgender-role-trnd/index.html">wrote a story</a> about the issue entitled, "These trans actors could have been cast instead of Scarlett Johansson in her new movie."</p><p>It's hard to imagine people having the same reaction in other scenarios - a rich actor being hired to play a poor person; an actor whose real-life parents were still living being hired to play an orphan; a perfectly nice, upstanding member of society being cast as a rapist; or an actor with no scientific experience being cast as a paleontologist.</p><p>Yet all of these examples (and dozens more) could also be strangely characterized as "stealing" narratives. I'm sure there's a class on how to do just that at the Yale school of Drama.</p><p><a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2018/07/05/arts/scarlett-johansson-transgender-rub-tug.html?module=WatchingPortal&amp;region=c-column-middle-span-region&amp;pgType=Homepage&amp;action=click&amp;mediaId=thumb_square&amp;state=standard&amp;contentPlacement=1&amp;version=internal&amp;contentCollection=www.nytimes.com&amp;contentId=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nytimes.com%2F2018%2F07%2F05%2Farts%2Fscarlett-johansson-transgender-rub-tug.html&amp;eventName=Watching-article-click">A New York Times</a> story on the fallout described the online backlash as being "led by transgender actors, who argued that such casting decisions take opportunities away from members of marginalized communities."</p><p>What they fail to acknowledge is that the job of an actor is to represent someone else. Johansson's identity off the screen is irrelevant to the identities she plays on the screen. That's what she's paid for. All six performers were Oscar-nominated for their portrayals.</p><p>Indeed, while most delivered exquisite performances (Blanchett and Ledger in particular), there has also been criticism towards straight and cis actors taking roles that some believe should have gone to queer actors.</p><p>Redmayne's performance, in particular, was criticized. It was called "regressive, reductive and harmful" by trans writer Carol Grant for <a href="https://www.indiewire.com/2015/12/regressive-reductive-and-harmful-a-trans-womans-take-on-tom-hoopers-embarrassing-danish-girl-213499/">IndieWire</a>, while <a href="https://www.insider.com/scarlett-johansson-dropped-trans-role-rub-and-tug-2018-7">Scarlett Johansson backed out of a trans role in 2018 after intense backlash</a>.</p><p><div type="image" title="The Danish Girl" height="1200" width="1600" msid="76649845" hostid="261"></div></p><p>There is a rising tide of people who believe that queer roles should be reserved for queer performers only, although that sentiment has been met with criticism by some, including <a href="https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/newsbeat-45926322">Blanchett herself.</a></p><p>However, the debate is becoming ever more prominent. Insider spoke to several queer film directors and actors to see what they think about straight and cis actors playing queer roles.</p><h2>Look for queer actors, as they have greater knowledge about queer characters</h2><p>Daniel Ribeiro, Brazilian director of "The Way He Looks," told Insider that he doesn't have a problem at all with straight actors taking on queer roles.</p><p>"Anybody can play anybody. That's what is beautiful about acting," Ribeiro told Insider. "But I think when you're casting a film, the important thing is to have that in mind. And first of all, you look for actors who are gay or who are trans, depending on the role, if you have that in mind and you go looking for them but then you find a straight actor or a cis actor that will play that part, who makes sense for that part, I think it's okay.</p><p>Ribeiro touches on a problem here — the fact that gay and queer actors are actually not sought after or even looked at in the same way straight and cis actors there. There is, Ribeiro says, plenty of people who "don't even bother" looking for queer performers for queer roles.</p><p>"They go straight for whatever they want, and then they don't think about it. They don't go looking for it, there is no research in casting. I think that's the problem."</p><p>Ribeiro's own movies, he told Insider, are always a mix of queer and straight actors playing the part — including "The Way He Looks."</p><p><div type="image" title="Colette" height="1200" width="1600" msid="76649847" hostid="261"></div></p><p>"Still Alice" and "Colette" director Wash Westmoreland also told Insider that his movies usually have a "mix" of straight allies and queer characters – but without even realizing it, Westmoreland has a tendency to cast queer people in queer roles more often than not.</p><p>"I don't even think about it but, in my films, looking back, out of about 16 or 17 gay roles, I think all but twice I cast gay men, because when they came in to audition they were better," Westmoreland told Insider.</p><p>"They brought with them so much knowledge about what that character was experiencing and had a greater access to the emotions of the story, so naturally in my work, I have cast gay people to play gay roles."</p><p>"But sometimes you do need a big movie star to get the budget. So it's a good idea to mix the cast with a straight ally and queer actors who are getting a lift from being hired, and then progress is made."</p><h2>The biggest film stars are often straight, and film stars help get movies made</h2><p>This is a practical element to trying to get a movie made that several of the people Insider spoke to touched upon, and appreciated — most of the film industry's biggest stars are straight, so studios are naturally going to want to hire a star they can bank on to be a box office draw.</p><p>Gay actor Michael James Scott, who starred as the Genie in "Aladdin" on Broadway and in the West End, told Insider that he gets that if a straight actor is "a bigger star or bigger name, it helps the film to get made, and also helps it to get shown out there more so that more eyes are seeing it."</p><p>The more people who see movies featuring queer themes and queer characters, the quicker the normalization of <keyword id="6371693" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="LGBT">LGBT</keyword> people and their community will happen. It's important not to underestimate the progress that films featuring straight actors playing queer roles have helped to make.</p><p>Hilary Swank won the best actress Oscar for playing transgender man Brandon Teena in 1999's "Boys Don't Cry," while Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal did what <a href="https://www.insider.com/brad-pitt-leonardo-dicaprio-turned-down-brokeback-mountain-gus-van-sant-2018-7">Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio refused to</a> and starred in 2005's "Brokeback Mountain," a film whose cultural impact cannot be understated.</p><p><div type="image" title="Brokeback Mountain" height="1200" width="1600" msid="76649850" hostid="261"></div></p><p>Ang Lee's seminal movie was discussed by Steven Paul Davies in his queer cinema book <a href="https://archive.org/details/outatmovieshisto0000davi">"Out at the Movies."</a></p><p>Davies said: "Most major film studios have been clamoring to get behind new, gay-themed projects ... thanks to 'Brokeback,' film financiers will continue to back scripts that don't simply rely on gay stereotypes ... and that will certainly be progress."</p><p>Davies cites "Milk" as one of these movies, a film that stars straight actor Sean Penn as gay activist Harvey Milk. Penn won an Oscar for his portrayal.</p><h2>Some straight actors should be 'applauded' for taking on queer roles</h2><p>Several of the people Insider spoke to, including Scott, also acknowledged that it can be hard for straight actors — particularly men — to take on queer roles as it could lead to them damaging their careers, so they should be commended for doing so.</p><p>Two such actors who are straight but played gay characters are Gordon Warnecke, who starred as Omar opposite Daniel Day-Lewis in 1985's "My Beautiful Laundrette," and James Wilby, who starred as the titular Maurice opposite Hugh Grant in James Ivory's 1985 movie.</p><p>These were both well-reviewed movies made in Thatcherite Britain, a time where being gay or queer wasn't exactly popular. Yet both Warnecke and Wilby told Insider that they didn't hesitate to take on their respective queer roles.</p><p>"I didn't remotely care," Wilby said. "Effectively it's a love story, I don't care whether it's gay or not gay, it's about a forbidden love story, so as long as you can understand that concept, I don't see what the difference is. I could have been doing a love story with an actress I loathed, but you still have to pretend to be in love. Luckily, Rupert and I and Hugh and I got on very, very well. So it wasn't a problem."</p><p>Warnecke, whose film about an interracial gay couple made and set in the 1980s seems revolutionary for the time, concurred with Wilby's stance.</p><p>"I remember when I first read the script, I had no idea that the two guys fall in love. And by the time I finished reading it, it was almost a secondary part of the film. I've never classified it as a gay film. It's just a love story."</p><p><div type="image" title="James Wilby Gordon Warnecke" height="1200" width="1600" msid="76649856" hostid="261"></div></p><p>Both actors said that they would happily play another gay character, but both did say that they recognize the climate has changed enormously in recent years, which Wilby said could be a negative thing.</p><p>"Very shortly, unless you're it, you won't be allowed to. I think that's a shame," Wilby said. "The whole point of being an actor is to take on things very unlike yourself. Would Daniel Day-Lewis be able to do 'My Left Foot' now? [Day-Lewis played Christy Brown, who was born with cerebral palsy] I doubt it. It's a shame."</p><p>Wilby and Warnecke were both critically praised for their performances (which, by the way, are both excellent) and whether they think it themselves or not, the reality is that they probably were very brave to take on those roles back in the 1980s.</p><p>This is what led Scott to tell Insider that he has to "respect" straight actors who "put themselves out there like that," while Westmoreland said that it can actually be a very positive personal experience for straight actors when they take on queer roles.</p><p>"Often they'll explore something within themselves that is homo-identified and I think that's a wonderful thing," Westmoreland said. "A lot of people are not simply one thing or the other, so it can lead to very intense performances when straight guys do roles."</p><h2>Queer characters are not only queer; 'queer is only one part of a character'</h2><p>Craig Johnson, who directed Netflix's "Alex Strangelove" went along with the notion that queerness isn't as black and white as it is sometimes made out to be. Johnson said that while queer characters are very important, they shouldn't only be thought of as queer.</p><p>"I like to think of characters as fully fleshed out, three-dimensional humans where being gay is just one part of them," Johnson said. "So if the portrayal of the person is authentic, you have to go with the best actor for that person. It can be a gay actor, it can be a straight actor."</p><p><div type="image" title="The Skeleton Twins Bill Hader" height="1200" width="1600" msid="76649859" hostid="261"></div></p><p>"I made a movie called 'The Skeleton Twins' and Bill Hader, who is straight, played a gay character, and I'm really proud of his portrayal. I think it feels authentic.  I've had so many gay people come up to me and be appreciative of his portrayal because it felt authentic."</p><p>However, despite this, Johnson, like Westmoreland, said he does have a tendency to cast gay actors, particularly if he is on the fence between actors for a queer role.</p><p>"If I'm trying to decide between two actors, one straight and one gay, and it's a gay role, I'll likely go for the gay actor," Johnson said. "But it comes down to the best actor for the role because queer is only one part of a character. As we all know, not all queer people are the same. We're not all best friends, we're just as diverse as all straight people are diverse. You've got to find the actor that captures that person whether actors are straight or gay."</p><h2>Johnson 'feels differently about transgender portrayal'</h2><p>"We're in a time where one must find a transgender actor for those roles. That's important. It's part of their identity and there's a physicality to it that is an important distinction," Johnson said.</p><p>While there have been several examples of <a href="https://www.insider.com/problematic-history-of-trans-representation-in-netflixs-disclosure-2020-6">cis actors playing trans characters</a>, the most high profile case of late actually came when a cis actor backed out of playing a trans character. Scarlett Johansson was set to play a trans character in Rupert Sanders' movie "Rub &amp; Tug." However, after intense backlash, <a href="https://www.insider.com/scarlett-johansson-dropped-trans-role-rub-and-tug-2018-7">the actress backed out</a>. This came after Johansson starred in Sanders' previous movie "Ghost in the Shell," which was accused of whitewashing its Japanese source material.</p><p>Westmoreland, Ribeiro, and Scott all agreed with Johnson's sentiment, particularly that trans actors are immensely better placed than cis actors to accurately portray those roles. Westmoreland cited "Tangerine" as an example. "Tangerine" features trans actress Kitana Kiki Rodriguez playing the lead character, who is trans.</p><p><div type="image" title="Tangerine" height="1200" width="1600" msid="76649862" hostid="261"></div></p><p>Scott said the importance of having trans actors play trans roles comes down to respect: "There's so much more of a physical change that happens for our trans community. It's less respectful to what our trans community have gone through physically — of course, mentally, too — but actually physically. For them to be able to have someone come in and just flip it on. It's about respect. It all boils down to respect.</p><p>"We're actors. We can do it all. I think if there is care, a sensitivity to the culture. Doing research and understanding things in our culture and things that are alive and well in gay people — if you immerse yourself in that and you respect and honor what those things are, I'm okay with it.</p><p>"What I'm not okay with is when there is no respect or when there's a conscious decision. I question the motive behind that. Why can't we try to find a queer actor first?"</p><h2>Practicality can sometimes hinder idealism</h2><p>However, Fiona MacKenzie told Insider that as a straight director, while she always "auditions openly and tries to be as inclusive as possible," the practicality of filmmaking can sometimes get in the way, particularly for independent movies such as her own film "Tell Me I Love You," which features straight actor Ashley Parker Angel in a queer role.</p><p>"We had about two weeks to audition. We didn't have months and months to put it together. Some of it was availability and who showed up. It's such a competitive world, to insist it's a gay actor in that time frame might be a little difficult."</p><p>"You're in the room to decide and you don't have a lot of time, in a big-budget film you have tons of callbacks. I'd love to say I had six months to cast but that's not true. I didn't have that luxury at all."</p><p>Ultimately, then, the queer filmmakers Insider spoke to made it clear where the problem is — not in straight actors playing queer roles, but the people making those decisions, hiring those actors, who don't give queer performers a chance.</p><p>It's no wonder that pretty much every leading film star is straight and cisgender, particularly with Ribeiro acknowledging that some film stars may not be out. Hollywood is only just starting to embrace queer identities on camera, in front of the camera, and behind the camera. It may seem obvious to say that "actors are actors," but, as MacKenzie told Insider: "Gay actors should be given all the opportunity in the world."</p><p>This isn't happening industry-wide as of yet, but the more movies that are made that feature queer characters, themes, and storylines, the more the "normalization" that MacKenzie and Ribeiro and Johnson stress we need, will happen.</p><p>A lot of those films will continue to feature straight actors in queer roles. LGBT filmmakers on whether straight and cisgender actors should play queer characters: 'It all boils down to respect'

"You bet. Listen, we all love the convenience and we support technologies like streaming that connects us to that music. But we also have to make sure the creators and artists - like Joey over there - grow up in a world where music is a viable career."</span></p><p>After Portnow's statements, rapper Common added, "My comrades of the Recording Academy would like to thank the fans who support our work by going to a concert, subscribing to a music service, collecting vinyl, or speaking out for artists' rights."</p><p>Streaming-music services, like Spotify and Apple Music, have been <a href="http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/music/2015/12/23/artists-against-streaming-services-prince-garth-brooks-thom-yorke-pete-townshend/77824882/" target="_blank">rubbing artists the wrong way</a> over the past couple years as they grow. The Grammys snuck an anti-streaming message into the show

You might have heard that this perfect winter staple is high maintenance and dry clean only but have no fear. Whether it's for a sweater, for socks or for a scarf, here is the easiest way to care for your cashmere to keep it feeling soft.</p>
<h3>When to wash it</h3>
<p>You might think that you need to wash your cashmere as often as your other clothes. Surprisingly, you only need to watch it every 2 to five wears to keep it nice. It's made out of goat hair and actually gets softer with age so don't worry about not washing as often.</p>
<h3>Why to hand wash it</h3>
<p>Even though tags will usually suggest you dry clean your cashmere, hand-washing is nearly as easy and will prevent contact with unnecessary harsh chemicals.</p>
<h3>How to wash it</h3>
<p>Fill a clean sink or a large bowl with cold water and mild detergent (we like <a href="http://amzn.to/1duezPs">Woolite</a> or <a href="http://amzn.to/1jxagbK">Laundress</a>, but you can also use <a href="http://amzn.to/1bgZ6SN">baby shampoo</a>, seeing as cashmere is simply goat hair, after all). Agitate the water a bit before you drop in the goods.</p>
<p>Gently massage the soapy water through the sweater - think of it like you're kneading bread - no pulling, tugging or wringing, or you risk changing the shape of the item. If you are washing a sweater, be careful to keep the item clumped together when handling it wet because the water adds weight and can stretch it out (if you hold it by one end). After massaging all the grime out, replace the soapy water with clean cold water and rinse.</p>
<h3>How to dry it</h3>
<p>Press and rub out the access water. Again, <strong>do not wring or twist the water out</strong>. Just press press, blot blot. You can also lay the cashmere item flat out on a towel and then roll it up, squeezing the water out. After you've gotten most of the drips out, lay the item flat in the shape you want it to dry in. This is especially important if it's a sweater because if you don't flatten it right away it will be impossible to get unwrinkled unless you rewet it. Let the cashmere air dry and be sure to keep away from the heater because heat can make it shrink.</p>

The festival of colours is around the corner and like always, the country is ready to celebrate it in a grand way. It is the time of the year when the youngsters and old, family and friends come together to rub earthly colours on each other. But did you know? This gala festival is celebrated in different styles in diverse parts of India.<br />

Yes, that is true. Each state in the country enjoys the heavenly hues in a different manner. Today, let us have a look at how different parts of India celebrate this fun and colourful festival.<br />
<br />
<strong>Gujarat</strong><br />
Hundreds of young boys make a human pyramid and try to reach an earthen <em>matki</em> full of butter hung on a high rope while the girls throw water at them. This is the classic scene that you would encounter anywhere in Gujarat on the day of <keyword id="6355460" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Holi">Holi</keyword>. Known to be the sheer devotees of <keyword id="3198" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Lord-Krishna">Lord Krishna</keyword>, Gujaratis have this special way of celebrating the festival of colours, called <keyword id="2122162" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Dhulendi">Dhulendi</keyword>, which also marks the beginning of a new season.<br />
<br />
<strong>West Bengal</strong><br />
Known as 'Dol Jatra' or 'Dol Purnima', the festival begins with men placing the idols of Lords Krishna and Radha in a decorated palanquin and then take it around the streets. Another beautiful ritual during Holi in West Bengal is that the head of the family keeps a fast praying for his family’s well being. After the processions and offering to the idols, the <em>bhog</em> or <em>prashad</em> is distributed amongst family and friends.<br />
<br />
<strong>Delhi</strong><br />
Being the capital of India and the cultural hub, Holi is always a grand celebration for people of Delhi. Kids and youngsters form <em>Toli</em>s and move from one street to another, playing Holi with friends and strangers alike. Food and snacks are also a big part of the celebrations here. One can find everything from <em><keyword id="2122163" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Gujiya">Gujiya</keyword></em> (an Indian dessert) to <em><keyword id="590917" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Thandai">Thandai</keyword> </em>(an Indian shake) during the day. Dancing to the tunes of Bollywood and some folk songs, the festival is celebrated till Lunch after which people relax and enjoy some family time.<br />
<br />
<strong>Goa</strong><br />
The ultimate partying hub of India, Goa also has its own way of celebrating Holi, which is known as <em>Shigmo</em> in Goa. In the traditional Goan style, the people of Goa celebrate <em>Shigmo</em> with fanfare and parades, followed by applying <em>Abeer</em> and <em>Neel</em> on loved ones. Several temples in and around Panaji have special arrangements for the festival.<br />
<br />
<strong>Barsana</strong><br />
It is a town in Mathura, where this festival is also known as the <em>Lathmaar Holi </em>and it<em> </em>marks the classic tug of war between men and women. Holi is a week-long celebration here and at first the men from <em>Nandgaon</em>, the village of Lord Krishna try to get atop the temple of Radhaji, which is in <em>Barsana</em>. The women of <em>Barsana</em> try to stop these men from entering and beat them with sticks. Don’t worry, the men are heavily padded and rarely get hurt. Next day, the men of <em>Barsana </em>go to <em>Nandgaon</em> to play Holi with the women there, who again use sticks to save themselves. This mock battle is surely a treat to watch and attracts many tourists, making it a double treat of celebration and worship.<br />
<br /> The traditions might be different but the festive spirit remains the same, which is reverence to the gods and welcoming the new season. Holi is one of the best and most recognised <keyword id="31692" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="festivals-of-India">festivals of India</keyword> and many gather from all around the world to witness the wonderful colours.<br />
