Prime Minister <keyword id="6354477" type="General" weightage="60" keywordseo="narendra-modi" source="Orion">Narendra Modi</keyword> on Monday said the Indian economy was on the path of rapid growth which had led to creating big opportunities for employment of the youth. Addressing a <keyword id="1463752" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="rozgar-mela" source="Orion">Rozgar Mela</keyword> where he distributed over 51,000 appointment letters to the youth, mostly in the security forces, the prime minister said automobile, pharma, tourism and food processing sectors were expected to grow at a rapid pace and open up employment opportunities for the youth. He said the <keyword id="6473855" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="tourism-sector" source="Orion">tourism sector</keyword> alone was expected to contribute Rs 20 lakh crore to the economy by 2030 and had the potential to create 13-14 crore new jobs. The prime minister said India was set to emerge among the top three economies in the world in this decade and bring benefits to the common man. "Every sector has to develop. From food to pharmaceuticals, from space to startups. When every sector will progress the economy will grow," he said. Citing the example of the pharmaceutical industry, the prime minister said the sector worth Rs four lakh crore at present is expected to grow to Rs 10 lakh crore by 2030. ""What does it mean. It means that in this decade the pharma industry will need a lot of youth. There will be opportunities for employment," Modi said. He said the automobile sector too was on the growth path and will require youth power to propel it. "There will be immense employment opportunities," the prime minister said. Citing the example of Uttar Pradesh, he said good governance in the state has led to establishment of the rule of law, which has in turn brought in a lot of investments. "In an atmosphere of security, the establishment of the rule of the law speeds up development, instills confidence in the people and brings in investments," he said. However, the states with rising crime rates witnesses fewer investments and shrinking of employment opportunities, Modi said.

Railway jobs: 12,000 recruited under 'Rozgar Mela' initiative

Prime Minister <keyword id="6354477" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="narendra-modi" source="Orion">Narendra Modi</keyword> asserted on Friday that his government had effected broad changes in the recruitment process by making it more streamlined and time-bound while boosting transparency and speed. Distributing 71,426 appointment letters to recruits in different government departments, <keyword id="6354642" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="modi" source="Orion">Modi</keyword> said the ongoing '<keyword id="1463752" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="rozgar-mela" source="Orion">Rozgar Mela</keyword>' exercises have become an identity of his government. This shows that it fulfils what it resolves to do, he added. The prime minister had last year announced the 'Rozgar Mela' drive to give jobs to 10 lakh people and noted on Friday that several states where the BJP and its allies are in power have also been holding them. More states will organise them soon, he said. Addressing the recruits, he asked them to resolve to serve people and said the mantra in the administrative system should be that the citizen is always right like it is noted in business that the consumer is always right. That is why employment in the government sector is called "government service" and not jobs, he said. The prime minister noted that a large number of recruits are from families where no one was in government service. A transparent and clear recruitment process awards people's merit and competence, he said. Modi said massive investment in the infrastructure sector has boosted employment and self-employment opportunities. When development growth takes place at a fast pace, self-employment opportunities also rise quickly, he added. The experience of newly inducted officials in learning from the 'Karmayogi Prarambh' module was also shared during the programme as Modi interacted with some of them. "In Apr, May, June, July and August, on average 15-16 lakh jobs got generated every month in the country. The Ministry of Labour and Employment said that the state-wise payroll figures highlight that a month-on-month growing trend in net member addition was observed in the states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, <keyword id="37102" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="andhra-pradesh" source="Orion">Andhra Pradesh</keyword>, Orissa and others. As compared to the monthly average that was recorded during the last fiscal, the net enrolment during the month is 21.85 per cent higher. It is to be noted that the overall unemployment rate experienced a decline, reaching 7.95% in July, as compared to 8.45% recorded in June according to data by private forecasting entity, the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy. In the rural context, the unemployment rate also saw a decrease, dropping to 7.89% in July from the previous 8.73% in June. Conversely, the urban unemployment rate saw a slight uptick, rising to 8.06% in the same period from 7.87%.

NCS portal registers 1 million job vacancies with one in three meant for freshers

Of this, over 260,000 people got employment opportunities. The government presently has over 5.2 million candidates registered with the scheme. Rozgar Melas In a recent session in the Parliament, the Union Minister, <keyword id="2627353" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mahendra-Nath-Pandey">Mahendra Nath Pandey</keyword> said that the government needs to ensure ‘rozgar melas’ for certified candidates every six months to generate employment, BusinessLine reported. In the recent Budget session, the government announced that it will also ensure industry relevant skill training for 10 million youth in India. The focus will be on building skills in technologies like — Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Virtual Reality, 3D printing and Robotics — to promote higher remuneration. Corporates team up for skills Indian corporates are also taking up training programme, as a part of corporate social responsibility projects.
