New Delhi-based motorcycles and commercial vehicles company Eicher Motors has delivered 32% returns this year. Analysts believe shares of the company are expected to do well because of the company’s dominant market position in the premium motorcycle space, positive cash flow and robust export opportunities. “Eicher Motors is market leader in the &gt;250 cc premium motorcycle segment (market share ~85%+) through its aspirational models under the Royal Enfield (RE) brand, such as Classic, Meteor, etc. It has a strong net cash positive balance sheet with healthy return ratios metrics,” said a report by brokerage firm ICICIdirect. Adding to it analysts at Sharekhan say that,”Promising launch of Hunter 350, focus on core brands through refreshed launches, better customisation, robust export opportunities and expected recovery in premiumisation trend in two-wheeler industry would widen Eicher Motor Ltd’s (EML’s) addressable market and boost performance going forward.” ICICI Bank, one of the largest private lenders in the country, has become more valued than ever before as its market capitalisation crossed ₹6 lakh crore this year. The lender has witnessed a strong growth journey in the last couple of years with healthy growth and is likely to mark the same going ahead. “ICICI Bank is likely to deliver sustainable earnings growth over the medium term driven by strong loan growth, margin expansion, credit cost moderation and healthy operating profitability aided by its strong liability franchise, higher capital ratios, better asset quality metrics and healthy provision buffers,” said analysts at Sharekhan. Kolkata-based FMCG-to-cigarette conglomerate ITC has rewarded investors with strong 55% returns this year. “The recovery in the cigarette business and uptick in agri, hotels, and paperboard in the near term makes ITC a better play in the entire FMCG pack where valuations are high,” said a report by Axis Securities. Meanwhile, private sector lender Axis Bank has given 17% returns to investors in 2022 and is further expected to report strong business growth. “Robust business growth, improving operational efficiency and synergy benefits from the Citi acquisition would reflect positively on the earnings trajectory and price performance,” said analysts at ICICIdirect. Although the Indian IT sector has gone through a rough phase this year due to recession fears, the fundamentals of top IT companies are still strong. Noida‐based HCL Technologies Ltd. (HCL) is India’s third‐largest IT services exporter with a strong global presence. “At current market price, the stock is relatively trading at a discount to the other large-cap IT companies like Infosys and TCS and offers tremendous value at current levels given market leader status in Infrastructure management,” said analysts at Angel One. The Supreme Court on Wednesday recalled its March 27 order, where it had allowed the sale of BS-IV compliant vehicles for 10 days, barring in Delhi-NCR, after the lifting of the <keyword id="8902499" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="nationwide-lockdown">nationwide lockdown</keyword> imposed to fight the <keyword id="1754604" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="coronavirus">coronavirus</keyword> pandemic. In its March order, the top court had allowed some relief to the <keyword id="128764" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="auto-dealers">auto dealers</keyword>, permitting the sale of 10 per cent unsold BS-IV inventory. The apex court on Wednesday said that it will not allow registration of BS-IV vehicles sold after March 31. A bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra and comprising Justices S. Abdul Nazeer and Indira Banerjee pulled up the Federation of Automobile Dealers Association of India (FADA), saying it would be a violation of the court order if it allowed sale of vehicles after opening of the lockdown. "No BS-IV vehicle will be registered if sold after March 31, 2020," noted the top court. The bench observed that registration takes time after the sale of the vehicle, and told the FADA that BS-IV vehicles are sold and it wants registration for these vehicles despite orders passed earlier. Senior advocate <keyword id="9538472" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="k-v-viswanathan">K.V. Viswanathan</keyword>, representing FADA, argued that the court allowed registration in March, and the order from the top court says no registration after March 31, and if one buys a vehicle before that, registration has to be done. The bench replied that it is asking about transactions after the order was passed. "We will protect only if VAHAN registration is correct. We will ask the government to check VAHAN data. How were vehicles sold online at 3 per cent to 40 per cent off? That too after March 31, what is this fraud," asked the SC bench. Justice Mishra told FADA not to take advantage by playing fraud. The bench asked the Centre to file data on vehicles uploaded on VAHAN portal post March 31, and also 15 days prior to this date. The top court also asked the FADA to give details of the vehicles sold to the government. The bench has posted the matter for further hearing on July 23. On June 15, the apex court had slammed the FADA for not following its order permitting the sale of limited BS-IV vehicles after March 31, after which BS-VI emission norms came into force. The bench observed that the court allowed the sale and registration of 1.05 lakh BS-IV vehicles, but it seems 2.55 lakh vehicles were sold. The top court has sought details of sale and registration from the FADA. The apex court had fixed the deadline of March 31, 2020, for the sale of <keyword id="6370870" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="bs-iv">BS IV</keyword> compliant vehicles across the country. Supreme Court withdraws order of registering BS-IV vehicles post lockdown

<ul><li>India’s car makers as well as two wheeler companies, from Hero Moto to GM, are in a fix as local lockdowns are forcing plant shutdowns.</li><li>The surge in COVID-19 cases has also dented consumer demand. People are even cancelling earlier orders.</li><li>A survey of dealers, including the ones of Maruti Suzuki, shows that sales in April may be down anywhere between 30% to 70% across major states. </li><li>This also poses yet another threat to millions of people employed in the sector and the slump could cascade into consumer products as well.</li></ul>Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked state governments in India to implement full lockdown only as a last resort.
