"The Night Manager" is the only entry from India across 14 categories at the nominations that were announced on Thursday in New York by the International Academy of Television Arts &amp; Sciences (IATAS). The series, directed by <keyword id="23240351" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sandeep-Modi" source="keywords">Sandeep Modi</keyword> and <keyword id="23246289" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Priyanka-Ghose" source="keywords">Priyanka Ghose</keyword>, is adapted from both -- the John le Carre's novel and the British show, starring Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie and Olivia Colman. "The Night Manager" will compete with French show "Les Gouttes de Dieu" (Drops of God), "The Newsreader - Season 2" from Australia and "Iosi, El Espia Arrepentido" season two from Argentina in the category. Kapur, who essayed the titular Night Manager, said he is happy that his series debut received an International Emmy nod and it is a "big moment" for the entire team. "An Emmy Nomination for my first series.. wow! From day one, we knew that we were creating something special with The Night Manager but for it to receive so much love and recognition across the country, and the world was not something any of us had imagined. This is such a big moment for us all!" he said. In the Indian take, Kapur played Shaan Sengupta, a hotel night manager, who goes undercover to bring down the empire of arms dealer Shaildendra 'Shelly' Rungta (played by Anil Kapoor). Kapoor said he is "ecstatic" over the nomination, which is a "worthy reminder" that hard work always pays off. The Enforcement Directorate has issued fresh summons to American millionaire <keyword id="271260" type="General" weightage="90" keywordseo="neville-roy-singham" source="Orion">Neville Roy Singham</keyword> for questioning in connection with a <keyword id="6355008" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="money-laundering" source="Orion">money laundering</keyword> investigation linked to online news portal <keyword id="10731773" type="General" weightage="70" keywordseo="newsclick" source="Orion">NewsClick</keyword>, official sources said Thursday. The businessman, who is accused of spreading Chinese propaganda in India, is stated to be currently based in Shanghai, China. The <keyword id="12163" type="General" weightage="30" keywordseo="ed" source="Orion">ED</keyword> has issued fresh summons to <keyword id="213658" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="singham" source="Orion">Singham</keyword> under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). This is a fresh notice issued to him after the agency got issued Letters Rogatory (LR) from a local court seeking to record his statement, the sources said. The summons have been sent to Singham on his email id and through the Chinese government channels, after the ED routed them through the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). This is understood to be second summons issued to Singham by the ED after one was issued last year after the investigation was launched in 2021. Singham's name hit the headlines again few months back in a New York Times article. The Delhi Police, following this news piece and some "evidence" shared by ED, had also filed a FIR against him and the founders of NewsClick after this news report came to light. In a statement issued to The Hindu newspaper in October, Singham had said that the language used in the FIR filed by the Special Cell of Delhi Police "strongly suggests" that the claims were "influenced by misinformation from an article published by The New York Times." "The NYT intentionally chose not to publish all the factual rebuttals that I provided to them on July 22, 2023, prior to their publication date," Singham had charged. He also rejected the allegation of fraudulent infusion of funds through a "complex web of several entities" as mentioned in the FIR and in the NYT article. The New York Times report claimed that NewsClick was part of a global network that received funding from Singham, who allegedly works closely with the Chinese government media machine. The Enforcement Directorate had first raided the premises of NewsClick in Saidulajab area of the national capital in September, 2021 on charges of money laundering. The agency has recorded the statements of more than 25 people in this case, including that of NewsClick founder and Editor-in-chief Prabir Purkayastha. It last year attached a flat in south Delhi's Saket worth Rs 4.52 crore, which is linked to Purkayastha apart from fixed deposits worth Rs 41 lakh as part of this investigation. NewsClick had said the allegations being made against it "by certain political actors and sections of the media are unfounded and without basis in fact or law".

While it did beat street expectations of around 1% growth, the Bengaluru-based tech major also slashed the upper end of its constant currency revenue guidance for FY24. The company has also announced wage hikes which will be rolled out from November 1, 2023. The company’s dollar revenues sequentially grew 2.2% to $4,718 million in Q2 as compared to $4,617 million in Q1. It had earlier guided that its constant currency (CC) revenues for FY24 will grow at 1-3.5%. Half way through the fiscal year, it believes that it can grow anywhere between 1-2.5%. It has however retained its operating margin guidance 20-22% for the year. The net profit grew by 4.5% sequentially to ₹6,212 crore in Q2 from ₹5,945 crore in the last quarter. Overall results are not so bad but discounted in prices. FY24 guidance - revised downwards would put pressure on prices to sustain while it has maintained margins." He added that technically the last minute fall in prices shows that results were not in favour of bulls and hence a gap down opening between ₹1,400-1,420 could be seen in the opening trade. Large deal wins The company is also sitting on a robust orderbook of large deals. Its large orders’ total contract value (TCV) of large deals at $7.7 billion. “We had our highest large deals value at $7.7 billion in Q2 spread across all verticals and geographies. This, in an uncertain macro-environment, is a testament to our ability to pivot and stay relevant to the evolving client needs, by delivering the benefits of transformation as well as productivity and cost savings at scale”, said <keyword id="328377" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="salil-parekh" source="Orion">Salil Parekh</keyword>, CEO and MD. "In view of the payment of the amount of Rs 6.57 crore due under the certificate, the said certificate is hereby completed," the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) said in its recovery order. The amount included interest and other charges. The regulator in December ordered the attachment of bank and demat accounts of Sahara India Real Estate Corporation (now known as Sahara Commodity Services Corporation), Subrata Roy, <keyword id="1595961" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="ashok-roy-choudhary" source="Orion">Ashok Roy Choudhary</keyword>, Ravi Shanker Dubey and <keyword id="15891249" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="vandana-bharrgava" source="Orion">Vandana Bharrgava</keyword> to recover Rs 6.42 crore for violating regulatory norms in the issuance of OFCDs (Optionally Fully Convertible Debentures). This amount included interest, all costs, charges and expenses. The recovery proceedings were initiated against these entities after they failed to pay Rs 6 crore fine imposed on them by SEBI in June 2022. The case relates to the issuance of OFCDs by Sahara India Real Estate Corporation and Sahara Housing Investment Corporation during 2008-09. The companies raised money through the public issue of securities by issuing OFCDs without following the various procedures intended to protect the interest of the investors, in respect of public issues, prescribed under the norms. According to SEBI, the subscription towards the OFCDs was solicited by the two companies from the general public throughout the country, without adequately informing them about the risks involved in the instruments. The issuance was allegedly done in contravention of the provisions of the SEBI's ICDR (Issue of Capital and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations and PFUTP (Prohibition of Fraudulent and Unfair Trade Practices). The show revolves around <a href="https://www.insider.com/succession-star-brian-cox-blasts-method-acting-again-2023-3">the deeply dysfunctional Roy family</a> and the jockeying to succeed <a href="https://www.insider.com/brian-cox-logan-roy-succession-died-too-early-felt-rejected-2023-5">Logan Roy</a>, <a href="https://www.insider.com/brian-cox-logan-roy-succession-died-too-early-felt-rejected-2023-5">the recently deceased patriarch</a> played by Brian Cox, as head of the family media empire, Waystar Royco, loosely based on Fox News and News Corp. The show's series finale airs Sunday and viewers will finally learn who gets the corner office, the brass ring, or as the staff of Slate so memorably put it, the <a href="https://slate.com/culture/2023/05/succession-finale-ending-predictions-theories-hbo.html?via=rss_socialflow_twitter" target="_blank" rel="noopener">posthumous</a> "<a href="https://slate.com/culture/2023/05/succession-finale-ending-predictions-theories-hbo.html?via=rss_socialflow_twitter" target="_blank" rel="noopener">kiss from daddy</a>."No question: It should be Shiv.<h2>Most intelligent and least reprehensible</h2>Shiv, played by Sarah Snook, is competent, intelligent, and shrewd. She's also the least reprehensible of the main contenders and has the fewest skeletons in her closet. Kendall, played by Jeremy Strong, is a tortured soul whose sobriety <a href="https://www.insider.com/dark-personality-traits-in-succession-characters-explained-by-psychologists-therapists-2023-4">and sanity remains an open question</a>. He's an egomaniac with daddy issues so deep they rival Hamlet's. He also <a href="https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2018/08/succession-hbo-season-finale-car-accident" target="_blank" rel="noopener">left a man for dead in season one</a>. Roman, played by Kieran Culkin, is sniveling, reckless, and impulsively creepy. He also sent pictures of his genitalia to a senior colleague. His focus is on the White House, or, erm, an ambassadorship to Slovenia.Shiv, on the other hand, is tough, intelligent, and brass-knuckled. "She is seen as less authentic, and that is actually a strength," <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/key-attributes-inclusive-leader-professor-business-psychology">Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic</a>, a professor of business psychology at University College London and at Columbia University, told Insider in an email. "Authenticity, in the sense of acting without filter or restraint, can be a liability in business," he said. "So the fact that she is seen as someone who fakes authenticity in order to be strategic is actually a power move." Shiv being a woman in a <a href="https://www.insider.com/women-sexism-experiences-hollywood-misogyny-entertainment-industry">sexist and male-dominated industry</a> is no doubt a challenge, but some real-world research suggests it could be a benefit. <a href="https://hbr.org/2023/03/what-hbos-succession-can-teach-us-about-negotiating" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Francesca Gino</a>, a professor at Harvard Business School — <a href="https://hbr.org/2023/04/what-succession-can-teach-us-about-regret" target="_blank" rel="noopener">and avid "Succession" watcher</a> — has conducted <a href="https://www.hks.harvard.edu/publications/conversational-receptiveness-improving-engagement-opposing-views" target="_blank" rel="noopener">research that shows how women leaders have superior relational skills</a>. They tend to be better at nurturing trust and highlighting commonalities between stakeholders, which results in them resolving conflicts more quickly. "Shiv seems to be a person who gets relationships," Gino told Insider. "She's savvy. She has strong emotions but she's also reasonable. She seems a little more thoughtful compared to her brothers."True, Shiv has spent the least amount of time at Waystar, but that, too, could be an advantage, Kevin Groves, professor at Pepperdine's Graziadio Business School, told Insider. "She is someone that has a deep understanding of the company culture but also brings somewhat of an outsider's perspective," he said. "She's someone who could contribute new ideas and is not so set in the old ways of how the company operated under Logan."Of course, with all the attention we pay to the backbiting Roy family, there are perhaps even more titillating nepotistic dramas playing out in real life. Take, for example, the kids of <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/how-bernard-arnault-lvmh-legacy-resembles-succession-2023-5">Bernard Arnault, the world's richest person</a> and the head of the luxury behemoth LVMH, who is auditioning his progeny <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/bernard-arnault-worlds-richest-children-lvmh-ceo-f7a67a03" target="_blank" rel="noopener">over their roles in the company</a> whose brands include Louis Vuitton, Fendi, and Tiffany &amp; Co., to name a few.The media baron and inspiration for Logan Roy, Rupert Murdoch, the head of News Corp, also has stirred speculation over <a href="https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2023/04/rupert-murdoch-cover-story" target="_blank" rel="noopener">which of his children might succeed him</a> at the top of the home of Fox News.In the meantime, we're rooting for Shiv, with full knowledge that twisty turns are likely.
