In a shocking admission, Minister of State for Health Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh said that only 10 per cent of the <keyword id="6371879" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sewage" source="Orion">sewage</keyword> water is getting treated at sewage treatment plants (STPs) in Lucknow which is the main cause of pollution in the <keyword id="6468246" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="gomti" source="Orion">Gomti</keyword> river. The Minister also raised concern over continuous dumping of untreated sewage water into the river. Meanwhile, municipal commissioner Indrajit Singh claimed that 27 drains are being tapped with the help of STPs and efforts are being made to tap the remaining seven nullahs. The Minister, however, said that those drains are still filled with untreated water which is being dumped directly into Gomti. He also alleged that during the inspection of the under construction <keyword id="6356209" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="stp" source="Orion">STP</keyword>, it was found that the company involved in the project had chopped off two trees at the construction site. It also failed to plant saplings as assured. Only 10% of sewage water is being treated before being dumped in Gomti river, says Minister of State for health Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh

Akhilesh Yadav-led <keyword id="6362695" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="uttar-pradesh-government">Uttar Pradesh government</keyword> has decided to construct a new dam on Gomti river in the state capital to solve drinking water demands of the residents of Lucknow. 
 Chief Minister <keyword id="6355031" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Akhilesh-Yadav">Akhilesh Yadav</keyword> has shown the green signal to the project at a meeting held at his official residence, said an official spokesman. 
 He said that a new dam will be built near <keyword id="6405954" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Janeshwar-Mishra-Park">Janeshwar Mishra park</keyword> to ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply to the people of the city, added the official. 
 
The chief minister also asserted that for smooth movement of large number of vehicles, a four-lane road will be constructed along the Sharda canal between Faizabad and Kanpur roads. He also added that the two projects will prove useful in improving drinking water and traffic system in the city. 
 
In addition to this, he has approved construction of a separate link road for elderly and physically weak pilgrims in Sangam area in Allahabad. He has also directed to construct a four-lane bridge on Ganga river from Sangam to 1,250 metre downstream.

Lucknow, The <keyword id="6356039" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="lucknow-municipal-corporation">Lucknow Municipal Corporation</keyword> (LMC), has decided to develop <keyword id="10500380" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Gulala-Ghat">Gulala Ghat</keyword> as a movie shooting destination to attract the film fraternity to the <keyword id="162002" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="state-capital">state capital</keyword>. A decision to this effect has been by the executive committee and a budget of ₹10 lakh for the beautification work has also been approved. The Gulala Ghat in the old city is better known as a cremation site. Former MP, late Lalji Tandon, had beautified the area, making access easier to the place. The LMC will now develop a green belt around the banks of the Gomti river and will create a garden with a variety of flowers and plants. Lucknow Mayor, <keyword id="5985184" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="sanyukta-bhatia">Sanyukta Bhatia</keyword>, said, "Gulala Ghat will be developed on the lines of the ghats in <keyword id="6357203" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Varanasi">Varanasi</keyword>.
