Rishi Kapoor — the romance king of the 80's and Bollywood's beloved 'Chintu' — passes away at 67

Barring a few, almost every mainstream actor has chosen to share their life via social media networks. However, one actor who has been making news ever since he actively joined Twitter is none other than <keyword id="6357910" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Rishi-Kapoor">Rishi Kapoor</keyword>, who tweets under the handle @chintskap, which we guess stands for Chintu Kapoor; Chintu being Rishi’s nickname. 
 
Starting off in January 2010 when joining Twitter was a fad, Kapoor senior (or Junior, maybe) underwent a deep slumber, only to wake up and come back in February this year. 
 
Describing himself as a hyphen between being the son of a famous father and the father of a famous son, he nails in being crisp and funny in his Twitter bio, just what the social network demands off its users. 
 
Be it wondering about why actors wear sunglasses even in night parties or asking tweeples their thoughts behind actors putting their hands in pockets while being interviewed, Rishi Kapoor has been very vocal and very entertaining for his followers. However, that is not what he is making the news for. 
 
Known to be a man of a few words, Rishi Kapoor is showing a completely different side of himself in his tweets, a side we never even knew he had. The ‘clean’ actor who has never been a part of any controversy in his career spanning 4 decades, suddenly has an opinion on anything and everything, and is not shying away from telling his opinions to the world. It started when he got angry at the ban Maharashtra government had put on beef, and earned the wrath of people who thought that he was promoting cow slaughter. Not someone to easily take a back seat, 
 
Kapoor was quick in clarifying himself in a fierce tone and blocking those who abused him in public. He also went on to question the government about not banning tobacco and tobacco products. 
 
As is common in the twitter world, tweeples have often misunderstood Rishi, forcing him to clarify the real meaning behind his tweets in a spur of moments, being one of the very few celebrities who actually read the twitter replies. 
 
The one incident that probably hurt Rishi the most was when he criticised abusing women and called women ‘kamzor’, which led people to criticise him for calling women weak. Hurt by the misunderstanding, Rishi went ahead and tweeted about the films he has done on topics of women empowerment and even decided to leave Twitter, though he didn’t. 
 
Next time he came under the scanner was when he joked about the possible warning to be printed on a condom packet, stating that this was something that India needs. Again, he asked his followers to get a life and learn to take things in a funny manner. 
 
When one time he decided to take a break from Twitter after all the negativity and grief it had given to him, director Sajid Khan convinced him to not leave Twitter, having said so in a tweet himself.

Well, after that quick break, the latest Rishi Kapoor has been doing is sharing posters of some of his films and criticising himself for doing them. These include movies like Sheshnaag, Zehreela Insaan, and Sherdil, some of which not many of us have heard about.

Rishi Kapoor: Here’s why you are seeing a lot of him on Twitter lately

The FTII controversy is getting heated up as more and more Bollywood celebrities are coming forward and debating on the issue, whether <keyword id="258297" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Gajendra-Chauhan">Gajendra Chauhan</keyword> possesses the skill to lead the prestigious institute. Apart from film-makers Kundan Shah, Aziz Mirza and Vivek Agnihotri, here are six other Bollywood celebrities who have voiced their strong reservations against Chauhan’s appointment as the <keyword id="2949645" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="FTII-chief">FTII chief</keyword>. In a video posted on <keyword id="10879" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="YouTube">YouTube</keyword> by the FTII student body, Ranbir said that "students want to look up to someone with a body of work they can aspire to". The Bombay Velvet actor said that "the appointment of the new chairman has gone against their wishes". "Don't think what the students are asking is illogical, don't think they are asking for the moon. They are just asking for correct faculty, correct syllabus," said the 32-year-old actor. He won two consecutive Filmfare Best Actor awards for Rockstar in 2011 and Barfi in 2012. 
	 
	 
	 
	Rajkummar Rao: The National Award-winning actor has also criticised Chauhan’s appointment as the chairman, saying the premier institute needs to be in “safe hands”. The 30-year-old actor has said students need a better chief than Chauhan. The FTII alumnus said on <keyword id="6354616" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Twitter">Twitter</keyword>: “#FTII needs to be in safe hands. Students need somebody who they can trust and look up to. It is their future which is at stake here.” Rao was awarded the National Film Award for Best Actor and the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor for the 2013 biographical film Shahid. 
	 
	

	 
	<keyword id="6357910" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Rishi-Kapoor">Rishi Kapoor</keyword>: The Bollywood actor has advised Chauhan to resign. He selected microblogging site Twitter to be his mouthpiece after his son, actor Ranbir Kapooor extended support to FTII students who are protesting against Chauhan’s appointment. Rishi Kapoor, who got the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008, said: “Advice. After all the protests and controversy, Gajendra Chauhan, the FTII chairman should voluntarily retire. Will do good to the students.” He added: “If they (students) don’t want you, they don’t want you. By pushing for the chairmanship is getting you nowhere. Let self pride play a role and retire!”

The former chairman of <keyword id="388113" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Central-Board-of-Film-Certification">Central Board of Film Certification</keyword> (CBFC) and <keyword id="146563" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="National-School-of-Drama">National School of Drama</keyword> (NSD) also supported the idea of converting the government institute into an autonomous body. Known for his versatility, Kher said that FTII represents a certain art form and requires a person who is supposed to know all forms of cinema. He said that Chauhan is neither qualified as producer or director nor actor to lead FTII. Kher was honoured with the Padma Shri in 2004 for his contribution to Indian cinema.

Siddiqui told India Today: "This post demands creativity. There are people who are far more efficient. There are many options and people with such background must come forward…I am not saying that the person appointed on post has a bad background." He strongly objected the idea of privatising FTII as everyone cannot afford the fee charged by a private insitute. He received the Special Jury Award at the 60th National Film Awards 2012, for his work in films, Kahaani, Gangs of Wasseypur, Dekh Indian Circus and Talaash.

He told NDTV that one cannot appoint a chaprasi (office attendant) as school principal just because he can devote a lot of time for the institute. However, the actor clarified that it was not a comment on Chauhan's abilities. The <keyword id="1575" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="Congress">Congress</keyword> spokesperson, targeting the Information and Broadcasting (I&amp;B) Ministry, said it is actually wrong to target Chauhan due to fault of the people who have appointed him as the chairman.

Looks like the production team is all set to start the promotion of the movie, which is why, today, we were given the treat of the first poster of the movie.

Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor, who is not active on any social media platform as confirmed by his father, actor Rishi Kapoor, clearly has a reason for staying away from the world of likes, shares, comments, tweets, retweets and hashtags. 
 
While almost all Bollywood actors have their own, verified accounts and fan clubs (modesty much?), the Kapoor lad has been missing from action ever since his debut in Saawariya, some 8 years back. 
 
God knows how well Bollywood uses the social media for promoting the movies amongst the Indian youth. This is why we think that the absence of a superstar from such a powerful promotional tool must irk some producers.

Allow us to say but it his aversion from anything technological, at least in terms of computer and internet technology, which has not allowed the Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani star to be on social media.

<keyword id="42575" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Arun-Jaitley">Arun Jaitley</keyword>, one of the most important men in India, second to only Prime Minister Narendra Modi normally has his task cut out for the day. Be it deciding what to do with foreign investors and their tax issues, to making life simpler for India’s citizens while filing tax returns, to deciding how much money should be spent by the government on various important social schemes amongst sundry other ‘totally nerve-wracking issues’. 
 But even the Finance Minister of India needs a breather. So, what does he do when he isn’t holding the reins of the country’s wallet? He watches a hindi movie! Known to be quite the movie buff, Arun Jaitley indulged in some ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ moments last evening, when noted lyricist and father of the movie’s director, <keyword id="10355" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Javed-Akhtar">Javed Akhtar</keyword> invited the FM to a special screening of his daughter, Zoya Akhtar’s soon to-be released and eagerly anticipated movie. 
 
We sure would want to know how he liked the movie. Did the cool locales of the movie take the FM’s mind of the Delhi heat, and the work load he faces everyday! Or did it remind him of the vacations he can no longer take with his family, given the workload he faces everyday! 
 
That said, even as Arun Jaitley watched the movie, the stars of DDD are in Delhi, on an extensive promotion spree for the movie, for which the audience has been waiting with bated breath. The movie, which is about a dysfunctional Punjabi Family talks about how they rediscover lost relationships on a cruise across the Mediterranean Sea. 
 
The movie stars Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah, Ranveer Singh, Anushka Sharma, Priyanka Chopra, Rahul Bose, Farhan Akhtar and Vikrant Massey. With such a huge star cast, the movie is surely the talk of the town today, and many celebrities who have watched the movie have vouched for it.
